- In video 1558 I review the new Lishi SC1, SC4 and KW5 lock picks, show how incredibly simple they are to use, and demonstrate how to decode any lock you pick.
I bought all three of these from: www.lockpicks.com/catalogsear...

I love these, makes life a lot easier! Great point regarding the purchase of the 6 pin set vice 5.
Nice thorough review Bill, great tool for the locksmith! Thank you sir!
Great concept for a picking tool. Nicely reviewed Bill.
Thank you for going that extra little bit of detail. I have been wondering which one was for what kind of lock and was wondering what the difference between them were. You've been the only one I've found that answered that for me. Thanks again!!!
plz help, how come my sc1 2 in1 doesn't fit in any of my doors. i life in the USA in California. Are the doors different here?
Thank you for the clear answer on if these work this way!
This is quite practical for residential locks
Great video the only thing is a lot of Schlage locks are 5 Pin with a 6-pin core a true five pin lock that's won't work in it Bottoms Up prematurely so I would recommend buying the SC1 and the sc4
That extra stack gives me trap ideas.
I saw your first review of the Lishi the other day. It looks like they'll open Kwikset and Schlage locks even for a noob like me without even having to learn how pin and tumbler locks even work. Fortunately, I do, so I'm still entering the giveaway. 😂
Some generic 5 pins will not allow the sc4 going all the way in. This may not allow a good tension or lineup, hence wanting both.
Thank you so much, I was wondering about that!
It didn't go all the way in for him and it still seemed to work just fine ( he even said it didn't go in all the way ) ..idk I don't know much about them ..have your used them and experienced issues?
@@trailman20 yes, it greatly depends on where in the lock it binds. Some locks have a stop at the expected end, others end somewhat haphazardly, meaning the lines will not match.
History on How this Tool Came About, For Years, I Wanted To Decode Master Padlocks as They can't be Dissembeled. So in 2013 I Mentioned On Lockpicking101, It Would be Cool if Someone could Make a Tool to Decode not Just Master, But Kwikset and Schlage as Well, and a Company That Could Do this, Would Be Lishi(maker of pick/decoders) for auto Wafer Locks. 6 Years Later, Lishi came out with A Revolutionary new Tool, A "Game Changer" their First 3 Were for Master, Schlage, and Kwikset. Coincidence?. Now They Make for MANY Pin Tumbler Locks.
Always Wondered if they saw the Post, And then Made Them?

Glad they made as I Still don't have the Means to Make them.
Absolutely brilliant design! 😍
THANKS!!
You answered the questions I’ve been asking regarding the 6 pin tools in 5 pin locks.
If the tailpiece was on the back the sc4 pick wouldn't be able to slide all the way into key way the tip would bottom out at the tailpiece just an fyi. This wouldn't work on a b60n or a f series knob or lever if it was still on a door
You can use the SC4 tool in the 5 pin F series locks. The tool will not insert all the way which presents two problems. One - the spacing will be a little wonky - you have to feel around and adjust. Two - if the tool is not fully inserted, all of the tensioning pressure is place on the thinnest portion of the tool which makes it much more susceptible to bending or breaking. On a lock with no spool pins, your pressure will be much lower. Stress on the tool is higher when you are trying to overcome a difficult spool pin. So, while it is possible, I have purchased both lengths for both myself and my technician.
@@advantagephc thanks! that answer is the best i've seen.
Great review Bill. Cheers 🍻
These are absolutely amazing
Bill took your advice and got myself sc4 plus kw5 all's I need now is the locks to go with them I've heard there are some UK & European that might suit, many thanks
Robbie from Huyton Liverpool UK
These things take all the skill out of picking. How am I suppose to feel special now?! 😂 That said, I want!
By being rich enough to have a full set
I used one to unlock my garage door since it was cheaper than getting a locksmith and gave me something to do. 😂😊
Hey Bill! I’ve missed your videos! This one happened to come up in my feed…. I fully understand why you don’t do videos anymore. You have my respect Sir. I am the proud owner of 2 lishi tools. I love them! Peace Bill. I hope you and the local (family tribe) are doing well!
Huzzah
I'll have to add these to the go-bag one of these days!
I've used one of the SC1 Lishi a buddy had. Really nice decoder/pick setup.
I want to buy SC1, SC4, KW1,KW5... Did You know where?
I have been replacing old locksets at my office building with schlage deadbolts from homedepot. these are all coming standard with spool pins
I just noticed that Lishi makes a 2 in 1 for the Master m1 keyway, 4pin. (as if master wasn't already compromised.) Opening has never been a problem, but internally decoding to cut code keys for riveted, laminated padlocks might be worthwhile.
Great review and tips and Awesome giveaway!
Some very nice tips Bill. Really nice giveaway also.
I’ve learned a ton from Bosnian Bill, so much so that I’ve started up my own local locksmith service - these Lishi tools would make my job 9000x easier. Good stuff sir, keep it up!
Oh God, the rogue assassin started a locksmith company. No one is safe now.
Great tools. Great video. 👍🏻
Takes a pile of guessing out of lock opening.. Love these tools.
The tension arm is supposed to sit right in front of the plug. Not only do you gain more control but you can see Mr Li's face.
I am praying that I actually win this giveawy. I have been subscribed to this channel for a while and I have learned a lot about lock picking from this channel. From what I have learned from Bill by watching his lock picking video's I did make my first lock pic and tension wrench out of windshield wiper metal inserts and I got a master lock No.3 and No.1 and I began to use the skills of lock picking I learned from watching Bills channel and I was able to pick open the master lock for the first time 2 nights ago and I posted my very first UA-cam video that night and I gave a shout out to Bill on that video it is under my name Ryan Clay here on UA-cam and it is the first and only video I have ever posted. I thank you Bill for teaching lock picking sport and your channel for lock picking is my favorite to watch regarding lock picking.
Very helpful. Thank you.
Great review and good point about the 5 vs 6 pins. Why get the former when the latter covers both?
Just ordered my KW5 and SC4, Bill has never steered us wrong yet. Thanks!
Well, what do you think? Worth it ?
@@noahway13 absolutely worth it, I use it for decoding more than picking, I can pick faster with something else and decode with these.
They look like a good set. The only statement in the video I have a issue with is that you would only carry the 6 pin versions is I have worked with locks that will accept the SC1 but the SC4 dose not go all the way in.
its the same as using an sc4 blank to make a new sc1 key, the excess is just surplus material the space and depth has not changed.
wow these are awesome... great video
Great video! Thanks!
Great info. And Great give away.
Great explanation 👌 👍
Love the new intro
I really like these, not just for the ease of use for a locksmith, but you could use these to ‘learn’ the pin binding; and practice SPP later?
It's not hard to identify binding order in a lock with ordinary picks. This just makes it more obvious to viewers on camera because of the decoder function.
Hi Bill u have been off for a while good to have it back on, I watch locksmith lawyer.
This is Richard
Great info my friend.
Bill, if you have a six pin cylinder with only five chambers populated, there's obviously no problem using the SC4 pick/decoder. However, there are Schlage residential grade locks with shorter five pin cylinders (generally knob/levers but the BE365 electronic pushbutton deadbolt also). These will not accept the full length of a six pin SC4 key. In that case you could probably still use the SC4 version of this pick/decoder, but the pin position indicators won't be in the right place when the pick is inserted as far as it will go. (Similarly using an SC4 key with the correct bitting in the last five positions will work, but you have to pull the key out slightly from bottomed out so the pins and cuts line up properly.)
apparently, you did not understand how to use the 6 pin version in a 5 pin lock
@@mikestrohbusch5434 He was absolutely right!!!! The lock in this video accepted the while tool in, but most residential locks the sc4 wouldn't have gone in all the way!!!!
Correct, you just put it in as far as it will go, then work with positions 2-6, treat them as 1-5.
Oh now I understand how he did it. I was confused how the hell my lishi wouldn't go all in like his
I was wondering if I could make some sort of spacer that would help lining up the pins so that I don't have to pull it out slightly everytime. It would work right guys?
I was gonna ask you about that bill. I just bought the 6 pin versions and could open the 5 or 6 pin with them
Now this is the one I'd really like to win great stuff bill great giveaway thanks
So after I built my first lock picking set I poped my master 140 about 20 times . Then I picked the quickset locks on my doors and found an issue with standard presentation of picking . After I picked it I could turn the core freely but the door would not unlock . So after further testing I had to make a knife to turn something deep in the core to release it so . IMHO I would ask you pick an active lock to test these issues in real life situation I think its much harder than presented .
Looks like a really simple tool to use, may have to get those and not even try to learn SPP the old way.
Thx for the Video.
Love this channel
plz help, how come my sc1 2 in1 doesn't fit in any of my doors. i life in the USA in California. Are the doors different here?
These look like they would be really nice. They are expensive though.
Love you videos
Definitely going to buy the Schlage version for my locksmith business. The "SC4" longer version would work for a six pin cylinder that is coded for either 5 or 6 pins. But I don't see how it would work in residential Schlage five cylinder that do not allow for 6 pins, unless it is shimmed so that the tool is held back .156 of an inch (the spacing between Schlage pin chambers). Should be easy enough to make a DIY shim.
I doubt it's really that big of a deal if the pin position indicators are off a little because the SC4 pick is inserted all the way to the back of a 5 pin cylinder.
@@agentvx8320 The tool is in the right position when the shoulder makes contact with the lock. If the longer blade hits the back of the shorter cylinder, then the shoulder can't make contact & the spacing is wrong (same as a trying to use a six pin key in a 5 pin cylinder).
plz help, how come my sc1 2 in1 doesn't fit in any of my doors. i life in the USA in California. Are the doors different here?
I still come across 5 pin cylinders in Schlage and Kwikset. The SC4 will not go all the way in. That is when you need the Lishi SC1. Like wise for Kwikset.
Do you really need the SC1 pick though? I'm pretty sure you could still use the SC4 version and just live with the pin position indicators being a little off.
I been clicking on the registration... I never got picked for free items. I really would love these lishi tools.
supper simple... Nice
Great video
Expensive but a nice tool to have 😎👍
My front door is master key capable when the houses in my neighborhood were built. Every 3rd house was master keyed alike. A lot of my neighbors didn't trust this and changed the locks out. I was wondering if all locks, say sargent or yale, use an exact number for the cut depth? My key is old and may can be recut by the depth measurements of each layer. Sargent is 5. Best is 6 on my house. I had a binding car key that worked great on one side. I was able to take the good side and cut a new key that doesn't bind.
lol, i loved this video so much i purchased the lishi sc4 to play with and learn this craft, Big mistake, I'm in the uk and we don't have the Schlag keyway , ive not found a lock yet that this sc4 will fit , hmm,
Good to know. Let me know if you find out please as I am also interested 😜
Very helpful review! Which type of lock pick works for Best lock?
The kwikset 660(idk if there's a cheaper one, but it was the cheapest one I bought at Home Depot) but that actually had 2 spools in it.
The newer kwiksets coming out have security pins in it and the f series schlage has 4 spools with one standard top pin
Thanks!
Great tool
There should be a giveaway chance here too for some of us using phones to follow you here
Thanks so much, I was just about to order the SC1 and KW4 and your insight helped me make a better choice.
So cool.
my houses door locks are basically mid-level challenge locks. allllllll the security pins.
I'm thinking about getting these, however my only concern is that if I only buy the 6 pin version, will a tailpiece or cap on a 5 pin cylinder prevent it from working properly?
Yowsa, that is fast and simple.
Just to let people know the 6 pin one doesn't always go into the 5 pin key way. It can be stopped by the "nut" on the core.
how often would you say, i'm on the fence on which one to get?
Nice!
Hi Bosnianbill, Can you try out your KW1 or KW5 with Weiser lock (WR5) . I am in canada and lots of Weiser here
Thank you for your helpful vedios,do you think these tolls work on german cars?.
the prices on these are fair!
Does the 5 and 6 key variants decode the bitting the same way, I'm having trouble figuring out the geometry and angles required for that?
Damn wish i could win these.. but yeah maybe the will go on sale soon cause the price is a bit high for my taste but will definitely keep an eye out for this. Any Canadian sites you recommend to get some locksmith supplies or even those picks? Thanks :)
Please, I want you to tell me about the most important tools, Mr lishi, suitable for locks and qualin in Egypt, and I also want you to tell me about its model numbers
I really like these Bill ! I hope i can win even though im in Europe :) Matt
Looks like a cool Tool, but what’s if your pins aren’t up. What’s if the pins are down
I was wondering if I could make some sort of spacer that would help lining up the pins so that I don't have to pull it out slightly everytime. It would work right guys?
Damn. That was quick. Wonder if amateurs can use it that easily.
Takes a feel. I opened safes in old banks before.
Hey Bill will kw5-sc4 fit s keyways? Which we have in the UK.
Many thanks Robbie from Huyton Liverpool UK
And this tool would fix the problems I discovered that no picker is showing . The locks do not release by standard picking you need something to catch on the back of the core I.e key or a knife ect . Plz test this tool against spp to show this is true on a active and installed door lock exterior .
The sc4 lishi will not work in a 5 pin lock it hits the tailpiece in some of the locks. I do love the fact that the leashes are so easy to use.
So the 6 pin will not work in a f series lock?
Good
If they could somehow make a universal tool you customize for most locks in one kit it that would be handy. Too pricey for a hobbyist I think, but being able to open and decode common locks would make this great if you used it for business purposes often.
The main point of this tool is the decoder function. If you don't have the ability to cut keys by code, it's kind of pointless. A hobbyist is better off with ordinary picks.
How do these function when used on the quickset smartkey system?
Except the 6 pin key doesn't fit completely in all 5 pin locks. Does the pick also work in those?
The reason they iffer both a sc1 and sc4 specific pick is because there are 5pin SC1 cylinders that simply won’t allow an sc4 key to fit in all the way. In other words, the key tip hits the back of the cylinder and can’t go all the way in. In that situation, your sc4 tool won’t be able to properly line up with the pins in a sc1 cylinder like this and the shoulder of this tool’s key profile won’t mate with the face and won’t be able to properly tension
I wish I bought the Sc1, having trouble with a closet door lock, the reason I bought the SC4 is the seller said it replaces the SC1 and no longer stocking SC1. I am new to this tool and was afraid I was going to damage it, the tool goes all the way in to me and seems to be dead on pin 1, so I was picking 2-6 with the SC4 on the 5 pin door knob lock??
Amigo en donde compraste la ganzua lishi .donde me recomiendas comprarla gracias por tu atención
Woah 🤯🤯
Buy the SC4 like I did! Pro tip: it opens SC1 locks too. Seems obvious...
Most (but not all!) locks keyed to a five pin SC1 key are simply six pin cylinders with only five positions populated. The six pin picks will work fine on these but not fit quite right on actual shorter five pin cylinders. For the money it's probably not worth bothering with the five pin version of the picks though.
I got on the website to order a tool but I cannot find nothing for European locks. Any advice? I will use it for hobby, but witch one to buy it??
Some 1" Mortise cylinders are not deep enough for a 6 pin keyboard.
Those are pretty unusual, but many Schlage residential knob or leversets use shorter five pin KIK cylinders.
It is conceivable that a 6-pin pick or key in a short 5-pin lock could protrude enough to interfere with the inner workings, or to prevent the pick's shoulder from getting into the engaged position. So it might be useful to put both lengths into your tool kit.
@@douggwyn9656 It's not actually important for the shoulder to touch the face of the lock though? Unless we're talking about ordinary keys and end users who don't understand how locks work. (This is precisely why Schlage does it in the first place; to dissuade commercial customers from using consumer grade locks in a building master key system.)
I use a 6 pin primus key in my 5 pin f51 entry lock. It’s pinned to the last 6 pins positions. The pick could do the same. I would think the other key ways Schlage has would be more of an issue. We’re the c123 keyway pick?
@@tomking3942 I would think it would be very difficult if not impossible to make one of these for C123, since they're so thin at the bottom of the key.
Hi will these lishi decoders work on uk? And if so what one would you get besides the master lock one
Do any of these work on Euro cylinders?
What do you recommend for commercial locks just those two or any more. I am a commercial real estate agent and this save lot of times on missing keys
#Bosnianbill what do you use to hold your camera or phone in front of you like that?
Which lithium would be the best one to open euro cylinder.. thnx
Alot of 5 pinner’s wont work with a 6 pin Lishi because there wont be enough room for the tool to slide all the way in, not made to 6 pin specs. Most likely residential.
Thank you for this video. My SC1 key has a pin spacing of 0.156" and the number 73272 printed on it. I measured the distance from the bottom of the key and on the key starting from the front of the key - first - 0.306", second - 0.23", third - 0.305", fourth - 0.288", fifth - 0.228, first, sixth - 0.328". Looks like I need six (or maybe five ) bottom pins and a few top pins. Can you determine the exact pin sizes from this data? I bought a door with a lock for my new porch and want to redo the lock so that it can be opened with my front door key. I hypothesize that my key has only 5 pins and these pins are 73272. What would be the pin's sizing and diameter corresponding to these numbers 2, 3 & 7? Also, how can I find out if the top pins are the same?
