    🔐Schlage Kwikset Sargent and Yale locks should be used on your own front door. Lock pickers and criminals Will have a hard time picking any of these locks. The only way you can stop brute forced entry is with a good surveillance camera. Subscribe to my locksmith channel to learn more.

    You will need a blank key and some lab shims and just a side tip a locksmith will do all this work for you for next to nothing. In fact if you take it to your local store, they will probably rekey your cylinder to match your front door how in the world don’t you have the original key? I thought you bought a new lock for your back porch and you just wanted topin it up to your front door sounds like you need an apple key fob so you don’t lose your keys that’s another tip

      Got mine in yesterday.. couldn't get it to work at first, but today I brought it into the shop and got it working! Made my day.. a guy actually came in with an Anderson sliding door lock (lost all keys) with an SC1 and I picked, decoded it and cut a key by code. Took me about 20 minutes, especially the decoding and going through a few keys but it all works perfectly and never had to take anything apart.

    Is there a site I can order keys from the Lishi numbers?

  • @oneundecided

    Thank you for this video. My SC1 key has a pin spacing of 0.156" and the number 73272 printed on it. I measured the distance from the bottom of the key and on the key starting from the front of the key - first - 0.306", second - 0.23", third - 0.305", fourth - 0.288", fifth - 0.228, first, sixth - 0.328". Looks like I need six (or maybe five) bottom pins and a few top pins. Can you determine the exact pin sizes from this data? I bought a door with a lock for my new porch and want to redo the lock so that it can be opened with my front door key. I hypothesize that my key has only 5 pins and these pins are 73272. What would be the pin's sizing and diameter corresponding to these numbers 2, 3 & 7? Also, how can I find out if the top pins are the same?

    • @doorandlocktips
      @doorandlocktips  3 місяці тому +2

      starting from the shoulder to the tip of the key is how you always begin to sequence on an SC1 You have a five pin cylinder and five cut key and SC1 key.
      That’s what you have.
      1 cut “7B pin = .270 + 3T pin = .200”
      2 cut “3B pin = .210 + 1T pin = .237”
      3 cut “2B pin = .195 + 1T pin = .237”
      4 cut “7B pin = .270 + 3T pin = .165”
      5 cut “2B pin = .195 + 1T pin = .237”
      Diameter .015
      Everything will work. I read your other comments by this inexpensive pinning kit, and you are good to go. It has everything you need.
