- As always Wayne’s cycle shop providing the bikes and DJ hypes giving the heat for songs.
Loved this little 300 as I was expecting it to be a lot slower than it was and boring. Honda put together a great little starter/ in-town commuter bike. - Авто та транспорт
really well done, i am super excited to bring it home soon!
Wei Ma awesome to meet ya today when you guy bought it!
Wei Ma
Remember,, Buying a bike without the ABS is an idiot. So first priority ABS ( Anti Lock Braking System )
Wei Ma I squid all day. It’s fun. Join in me.
This isn't just a beginner bike or a commuter. Honda finally has built an expert level small bike that is a backroad twistie weapon. No crappy brakes, soggy suspension or hinge in the middle here. It's a Miata on two wheels.
And as an FNG who's never ridden a proper bike, that's very encouraging. The main highways where I live, we all drive like crazy, so I've been unsure if a 300cc can keep up, but the backroad stuff is where I really want to have some fun.
Cruising speeds are about its top end on interstates near me. Tbh my FZ07 is lacking on top end for my liking for interstate.
Love me some Miatas. Good insight
"It is way more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow". Well said.
anas17in I have a soft spot for my old ninja 500. 😂😂
@@cantdowhoolies u mention that u wouldnt highway it but this is the reason I enjoy doin so. I will admit higway speeds is kinda in a weird spot on the powerband so always end up speeding
Yup. I completely understand.
I started on a 15 cb300f and just sold my 17 S1000RR 9 months ago. Small displacement bikes are where it’s at for general fun, reliability and legal hooliganism. I look forward to returning to the high mpg gang. Fast bikes are only cool with you have an open road/track. Slower bikes are fun 90% of the time on the actually commute.
For anyone who gets misty about old brit bikes, IoM TT or old cafe racers, this 300cc single has more horsepower than a BSA Victor, probably weighs less, handles much better and can stop. It's got the fun numbers of the WR250x (10years old, used here ~$5k).
Few would be stupid enough to confuse this with a touring bike and it is probably the best 'beginner' and 'entry level' bike -- but, that's just marketing. it may take awhile for you to figure it out, but your single worst day in motorcycling will be the day you sell a bike like this for a bigger bike.
Good light singles are by far the most fun for riding around town, regardless of experience. I've been riding since 1976 and have owned or ridden most everything. What's unusual about this bike is how light it is. With a pipe, you can probably get it to 300lbs/140kg.
baker2niner yesssss! Such a great package for the price on that bike!
baker2niner it would be the best beginner bike if it had a lower seat. Don’t get me wrong, i know that for the experienced rider it wont be a problem even if he’s a bit short but its a beginner bike, so it must be within reach to everyone. Honda fucked up just a bit on the seat height for these bike, even for the 125 version. I think the rebel 300 would be the best one... but the looks of the rebel.. ugghh🤮
juncear different people different opinions, personally i much prefer the looks of the old rebels. Its more old school to me.
100% 6 months after having a cb300f I traded it for a fz1 and instantly wanted my cb back smh. Power is cool in spurts, but it’s something about simplicity and lightness. I dropped my cb 3-5 times on the highway. Each time was less than $10 for bar ends lol. Only thing I ever wish for now is stronger brakes. I with we got the cbr250rr parallel twin, that would be perfect.
HH pads and a steel braided line for the front and you would have all the braking you can stand for very little money. The front caliper on this bike is killer. I suspect that Honda dumbed it down for the newbee market. Nothing says that you have to leave it that way.
Gonna be taking a look at one of these next week. Super excited!
Great review, hope to see you at the ride today!
Philip Ofrias IV sadly I’m working.
I plan on getting this as my main commuting tool and to practice motorcycling. Then maybe in 2 to 3 years I'll upgrade to something more powerful.
Weird how Honda missed on a frinkin gear indicator, c'mon Honda don't be so mean.
Kinda pissed me off... my old grom had one and it is pretty much the same display
@@Dsilver024 they have it on the 2019 model now
Good review. I said the same thing when I saw one sitting next to a Grom in the dealership. I wondered why anyone would choose a grom over this. They are very close in size and motor wise, this is what everyone who buys a grom tries to get performance wise. My local dealer had them listed for 4100 at Christmas time. I have been riding for 35 plus years and still enjoy the "little bikes". Not blazing speed but usually fantastic handling.
Bought my '19 CB300R back in October and so far it's been incredible! Already have done a list of mods to it. Now just waiting for my Akrapovic slip-on exhaust to be shipped out! Claimed to increase HP and torque. I'd recommend this bike to anyone!
Where did you order it?
@@isipbatamobrogang5440 Revzilla
I also have this bike and I’d love to know what mods you’ve done and where you’ve found them!
N I C E ! ! ! Great vid!
I have the same bike (CB300R 2018) and I am pretty happy with it! Excellent for beginner by my option. And looks very good from aside. Even for bigger guy 😄
I am planning on getting one the first of 2019 as a daily commuter. Around town, bigger isn't better.
speedandstyletony agreed!
speedandstyletony did you end up getting the bike?? I’m looking to by mine on the 18th
Recently finished my third 700+mile road trip on the ninja 300. It'll cruise at 75-80 for hours and hours with no issues. Great MPG and range also. 300's on the freeway are fine. Guess this single lung will make less power but I imagine it's still plenty enough.
It's definitely enough but I wish it had 40hp instead to have more passing power at the upper end. You can buy a Sunstar 15T sprocket on amazon that should make a huge difference. It's $18 on amazon and is supposed to be one of the best mods you can make. Mine is coming in next week.
@@Nessal83 what's the purpose/upgrade of this sprocket over stock?
@@yj0902 The stock sprocket makes the first gear too short. You will notice that if you are turning from a stop, you will have to shift in the middle of the turn. Installing a 15 tooth sprocket makes the gearing taller so that you can ride through the entire gear and change after the turn. That is the biggest difference besides having a higher top speed. But people don't normally change it for that reason.
Picked this up a month ago, love it. Just waiting on a proper fender eliminator kit
KentwoodWarrior awesome!!!! The stock fenders always look terrible. Haha
KentwoodWarrior Congratulations! 45 yr old but beginner and considering it. wondering what's the best price for it in the US. How much did you pay? I'm in NJ.
KentwoodWarrior have you found one yet? I haven’t even bought the bike yet and my eliminator is coking tomorrow 😭
Why do people do that?
Have been waiting for someone to do a review for the CB300R
Thanks for picking her up! 😊
It’s not mine but a subscriber of mine wound up buying it as his first bike so that was really cool!
@@cantdowhoolies sorry for miscommunication. I meant picking her up for a review.😅 Can't wait to see what's next on your list 😊
It’s all good! My GF just picked up a ‘19 ninja 400 so there’s a install video coming on that soon.
Ninja 400 is pretty sweet. I was actually watching the comparison between the Duke 390 and Ninja 400 by motorcycle.com. I know I would be extremely biased but I still love my naked Duke 390 over the twin, sporty Ninja 400. 😋
Anyway, can't wait for your video!
(PS. The price difference between the two in my country is huge!)
A friend of mine has the svartpilen which is the same engine and loves it. I found it really fun too on the review of it.
Under 5k for a liquid cooled, fuel injected Honda with full LEDs, an LCD with all that stuff on it and looks like that.... That's a steal and a half. This ought to be a bike you can keep for quite a while I'd say. Unless your speed limits are 80mph, should be all you need.
A 125 can do 80
Paul Kojack this biked top speed is 90 mph, with the 15t sprocket it bumps it up even higher, mixed up with a intake, full exhaust and a tune, should make more then enough power for 75-80 mph interstate rides
It looks good in black!
Been riding big bore bikes for a long time but I've always been a fan of singles for years
So u consider this as an entry level bike. Back in India we consider 97.2 cc motorcycles as the beginner motorcycles.
Anushandhan M of course in the US it’s a beginning sized bike. But I kind of wish we had more two stroke street legal options here for small bikes.
BAHAHAHHAAH 97.2 cc??? you must be joking, that is a childs toy.
It's true you know here in the philippines this bike is a bigbike not just because of its engine also the price😊
yes, in north america or europe 250-300 is a beginner displacement, almost only people too young for the motorcycle license drive 125cc or smaller
Anushandhan M so 97cc is an entry then this is a beginners and 500 and above are intermediate and 1000 is for experts I’m guessing?
There's a bit of a quiet revolution going on here in the UK I reckon. So many people I've spoken to lately are finding a renewed passion in biking from "downsizing". Quite a few owners of "big" bikes have added a 300 or 400 to their garage. Some have even replaced their big bike altogether. I've bought a CB300R after many years of owning larger capacity bikes.
Love that new 300. I may sell my FZ09 to buy one. Miss my Grom, sold it to buy the FZ and I was wrong to think more power was more fun.
Did.highway with my Grom, it was missing what this 300 has. Bit more everything
This bike will pair nicely with my Honda 919 :D
This is now going to be my first bike :)
Finally picked up this bike, using it in Miami for city driving. No regrets whatsoever.
Awesome!!!!
How are the brakes so far?
Came across this video and its very helpful as I'm looking for a beginners bike
It’s a very nice bike. If you’re looking for a naked upright. Also look at the Kawasaki z400 very nice as well
@@cantdowhoolies will do!......thanks for the advice
No problem!
I traded my 2015 CB300F for a 2001 VFR800.... now I'm thinking of trading my VFR800 for the CB300R!
Yeah i do the same, i sold ma yam XJ6, last year and now i’m buying a cb300r to
None of my friends undertstand me withe theirs 600/1000
Thank you for this video. I have a 1972 CB500 I am rebuilding, but I want a bike to ride around while my rebuild drags on. I am somehow drawn to CB’s. This looks like the ticket.
It’s a awesome bike man!
Would it be wise to go with this over the Himalayan, if let's say I want the Himalayan most of my top choices of a first bike, however I am afraid it won't keep up with friends or be able to do much interstate and I may regret that it won't. This I hear does 65 to 75 comfy and can too at 100ish?
It will probably make it to around 100 but it’ll take some waiting to get there if that makes sense
Good video..loved watching it 👍.. would like to know how is the wind blast on expressway? Does the lack of windshield hinder the ride on expressway?
Didn’t get to ride interstate on it but at 60+ the wind was very much normal for a naked bike. Windscreen would definitely make it better for highway speeds but I don’t mind it.
@@cantdowhoolies 60+ normal is good enough for me..hey thanks for the response mate!
How is the pillion seat comfort on a 200-250kms per day touring with intermediate breaks ?
I’m sure it wouldn’t be terrible once broken in but I honestly could not tell you. My friend commutes on this bike roughly 120-140kms to work on his.
Lol "those cyclists no helmet", says he who doesn't wear protective gear (jacket) on the motorbike ;)
Getting this bad boy today!
Hell yeah congrats!
Just finished my first baby steps - love it! :)
Suhweeeet! Practice low speed clutch control and maneuvers as often as possible! Really will help make you a more confident and controlled rider.
Traded my 15 cb300f for a 5th gen VFR.... now I wanna sell the vfr to get the cb300r. The 300cc class are fun to ride around town, so easy to flick around. And I feel like I can take turns faster while “spirited riding” in the city.
Anyone here ridden new Ninja 400r and CB300r, they're about same price but the ninja obviously has a bigger engine, please advise which bike is more comfortable to ride? I'm about 5'7.
imflipify I have ridden @rollinon2wheels 400. I liked it. Very comfortable and both are great bikes. Pick the one that you like the looks. 5’7” is about how tall he is as well.
Can’tdowhoolies thanks for responding! Just subscribed to your channel.
imflipify thanks man! No problem I try to respond to everyone!
Depends on your inseam. The CB300R has a very tall seat height which is very strange for a entry level bike.
The cb300r seat is adjustable
How was the engine vibration performance compare to twin cylinder ninja 300/400?
I felt it was pretty smooth. Around 70-75 where it was winding out it was a little notice but not bad by any means to me.
Redrum send it!
Your downshifting was smooth. You should make a tutorial on rev matching
I actually hadn’t thought about that. I just may do that.
I think the video would look better if we could see where you are going. As it stands out, it's very obnoxious.
Jaime Almeida explained it in another comment. You’re not the first to point it out. I was unknowingly in wide instead of super wide. I agree I was not happy when I edited it. 😂😂.
Would this bike handle 75mph cruising on the interstate?
MusicMan0716 yes. But that’s getting into the upper end of its speed(iirc around 95-100).
NICE !!!!!!!!!
do u think the performance is a lot better if compare to honda grom?
For sure. It’s double the engine size and can make it over 70 without issue.
I’m about to buy a bike pretty soon I wasn’t sure if I’d fit on this I’m 5’5 do you think I would fit?
Might need to be lowered a little. My inseam is about 31” and I was pretty comfortable on it.
this bike is almost perfect need some tweaks here and there which are
*larger fueltank
*better headlight throw
*seat comfort
*add grabhandlebars
*display upgrade if possible in same price 😅😅
*better tires which are present right now on Indian version
* littlebit more top speed like 5-10kmph more then current 155kmph
tire hugger as well
You mentioned that you wouldn't take it to interstate.
Why not? I am a beginner motorcyclist and honestly would like to know your full opinion on this.
I am riding 390 duke, have never been on interstate yet, but it seems like my little Duke has no problem cruising at 60 mph
Depends. I personally would like to have a little more top end power for interstate if I need to get away from a situation at the cruising speed of 70-75mph in my area. It could do those speeds no problem. I just wouldn’t feel that safe with it.
I am the 100th subscriber
They give you such an amazing LCD display wihout a gear positioning indicator. It is a must for begginer noobs like me.
Slightly disagree. You learn by feel and speed what gear you’re in.
@@cantdowhoolies Hey man! I struggle with gears a bit. I learned on a 150 cc and its been a month. Can we add a aftermarket gear indicator on this one?
Saish I couldn’t tell you with 100% certainty but most likely yes as where there’s a will there’s a way.
You can install an after marked gear indicator. I have to say, with this bike, you need one. I find myself driving in 6. gear at below 80 km/h and there is nearly no difference to the 5. gear at the same speed. I wouldn't say anything, if the rev meter was a tad bigger.
A word of warning for this bike. YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE GAS TANK TO GET TO THE BATTERY.
*soon launching in india that's why ppl interested in info about the bike*
I’m happy to answer any questions that you have.
@@cantdowhoolies hello,I am a beginner with a height of 6'1''.Will it be okay for me?I intend to use it within the city for day to day usage and will definitely face a lot of traffic...Please reply and thanks in advance....btw loved the video...👍👍👍
It’s gonna feel a little small but definitely tolerable due to the upright nature of the seating position of the bike.
Vibration or any Heating issue in this Bike ??
chandan kazi none that I’ve heard of. Vibration was minimal in my opinion

What do you feel this bike's most comfortable speed is?
I have the most fun on it anywhere from 35-50mph. It feels very in its element. It seems happiest somewhere between 4000 and 6000rpm in whatever gear you’re in.
just wanted to ask if its kph or mph. thanks mate!

If you could only own one...FZ07 or this bike? I just love the look and size of this thing but im deciding between the two
Johnny Cash do you have any experience on two wheels? Everyone talks about the fz07 being a wheelie machine and it can be. But it’s also very tame if treated with caution while still new to riding. I’d suggest the FZ for sure as it’s not much more and manageable for a beginner. It really comes down to if you feel comfortable and think you can take it easy and responsibly.
@@cantdowhoolies yep I've had dirtbikes in the past...a yz125 but I've also tested bigger bikes. I used to race. For this though I just want the most fun experience overall. I don't plan on doing wheelies or going 100+. I test rode the CB500F and didnt really care for it. It felt like a car. Reports say the 300R feels much more fun and nimble (than the 500F). If the fz is anything like the 300R I'm sure I couldn't go wrong.
Johnny Cash in that case go with the FZ you won’t regret it. Especially if you do an exhaust, tune, some pro taper bars and the r6 throttle tube.
Does the z400 have better get up and go
Definitely pulls harder by far.
Does it have a gear position indicator?
It does not unfortunately. But within very little time you get used to knowing what gear you’re in based on speed and rpms.
@@cantdowhoolies..thanks a lot
Most welcome!
@@cantdowhoolies .. actually it's abt to launch in India ..nd i wish answer to few ques..
1) How's the low-end nd mid-range performance?
2) Is the power enough fr occasional highway/freeway rides (maybe once a week)?
3) About pillion comfort?
Low to mid is great for running around town. Highway I wouldn’t think it would be bad at all. Comfortably cruises at 60-70mph(100-115kph) with a acceptable amount of power to accelerate from that speed if need be. It is a 300cc though so keep that in mind. As far as pillion comfort I couldn’t answer that as I didn’t have a chance to give anyone a ride on it.
Great video @Can'tdowhoolies, I will definitely add this to my list of ones to look at for my bike.
Hi, you mention you you ride /compare cb300 to an fz? Which one?
Jose Pardo was just mentioning little ergonomic differences between the cb300r and my fz07
"Entry level bike".
I live in Thailand where the Honda Wave110cc ($1300) rules the roads and a Honda CB300R is considered a large expensive motorbike ($4,300).
It is a beginner bike, but at the same time, there are some key factors about the bike that it doesn't really support a beginner rider. I've taken the 300 on the Interstate and it does just fine. But moving forward the bike sits higher then it looks and even though it is not really torquay but too A beginner rider it may seem torquay. I'm 6 feet tall and my knees are slightly bent, so anybody shorter than me, let's say 5'7 that bike may seem a bit daunting for them because it's gonna sit slightly too high for someone completely new at riding a motorcycle. And if someone that is 6 feet tall like me, and has never been on a motorcycle before, just the fact that they are not used to the throttle it may seem even to torquay for them. I would say a Honda rebel 250 would be a perfect beginners bike for anybody it's light it's very low to the ground and the throttle is kinda sluggish which is good because it's less likely that there going to freak out and hit the throttle too hard and too fast and the bike is just gonna take off right out from underneath them. The CB300R is a little bit toucher on the throttle then the Honda rebel 250. I've seen new riders on scooters that would freak out and hit the throttle too fast and hard and they would just go flying right into a parked car, or a fence, or a bush, or a tree, or whatever object that may be in front of them. I'm not trying to channel drop on you but check out my review on the cb300r. But I completely agree with your review and I think you did an awesome job on the review of the cb300r. I just think there are some key factors about this motorcycle that I feel should be pointed out before somebody desides to go out and get this bike and it being a horrible experience for them to learn how to ride a motorcycle ua-cam.com/video/AiYApNwObl4/v-deo.html
Thanks dude! A sub local to me bought this exact bike after getting his license and he messaged me saying a lot of the points you touched on.
What is the difference between this cb300r and the cb300f?
Kevin Osorio from what I can tell the F has a bit more fairing along with conventional forks as well.
Different frame...much lighter.
The CB300R is a completely redesigned frame. In fact there is nothing similar. Even the engine on the 300r was modified for slightly more power.
How many times have you said 'awesome' in this vid?
John Kedward an awesome amount of times!
Likes your positives, but do you have any criticisms on it? thanks
Only criticism I can see is just a personal one that I’d like more power out of it. But that’s not the point of the bike.
@@cantdowhoolies right, thanks.
I like the look, but where I live, it costs as much as a Duke 390 and really, the Duke has nearly 50% more power 100cm² more displacement and a better tachometer. And I bet, in Europe, the Honda will also not good in re-sell value because of the not maxed out HP for a A2 bike.
The 390 will implode
If you had to pick between 2020 R3 or 2020 CB300R, which one? I’m in a dilemma...
Jung Howe sorry just saw your comment. I would totally go R3. Little more power and I’m a bit of a Yamaha fan over Honda personally.
Can’tdowhoolies I see... Thanks!! Personally prefer naked bikes. Only if cb300r has more power! It still fairs okay on the highways and in the cities right?
Yeah it’ll do highway fine for sure. Interstate with larger trucks pushing wind around might make it a little uneasy feeling but it should handle it.
Can’tdowhoolies thanks for your reply!! I'll give both bikes another thought 👍🏼
Jung Howe anytime!
Would this bike be okay for people who are 5’7 in height?
Yes. I have a 30” inseam and it’s plenty low enough for me.
Can’tdowhoolies did you have to tippy toes at all?
No. I was comfortably on the balls of my feet or more with my regular boots on.
Thank u!
Most welcome
Is this bike good for very long ride?
ronald marshal with it being a naked bike you are going to feel more wind but seating position and ergonomics I feel it would be a good bike for longer rides.
Not at all. Hwy vibrations are crazy, wind is tiring, and next to no passing power or cruise control
Kawasaki Versys-X 300
(p.s. single rider only)
Inverted forks are useful for our road conditions
Could you explain I’m gonna be a new rider soon
Torn between getting this or the Duke 390 for first ever bike?.. Don't care much for power, just want the easiest to start off with..
James Hazell try to sit on both. Power is similar as they both make in the 30s(duke has more, but has some reliability issues) It comes down to seating position and style preference
Wait why would you not take this on the interstate?
Dipjothi paul has a limited amount of time on this particular ride and review. Plus it’s boring on the interstate. 🤣🤣🤣
Do you encounter any vibes around 100-120kmph?
HAL 9000 I didn’t notice any.
Which one between this and the R3?
antardnyani mahapurush between the two is chose the cb300r if it was a only bike
Is the speedo in mph?
Yes. I’m in the US.
Wouldn't the 125 be more of a entry level and the 300 be the mid tier?
Lucas Willem possibly depending on where you live. In the states me personally I’m scared of 125s on the street due to lack of acceleration. But again that’s my opinion. 250 would be a good start.
Lucas Willem 125’s depends on your country or what are you planning to do with it. In US for example, with such big open roads and a lot of access on highways a 300cc or maybe a 500c would be perfect. But if you plan to ride only in cities with lots of traffic, the lighter the better , a 125 would work just perfect. Grom, the new honda monkey, or even the cb125r are gear choices .
In the USA, this bike is super entry level. Most bikes on the road here is at least 600cc and above. I actually own this bike and a few others and I do wish it had more power. But the rest of the bike more than makes up for it.
@@ripmax333 for city only, a 125cc is not the best either because gears are too short and even for low speed you always shift gears...
I like your bender tattoo jajaja
Probably one of my favorite tattoos I’ve gotten.
Can you ride this on the freeway? in CA?
Itll cruise at 70-75 without much issue. So in theory yes it should be fine.
In La freeway speed is 10-15mph,,,, jajajaja
Great little second bike to keep my Harley 2017 LowRider.S Company ??🤔🤔

Might be tip toeing but the bike is light and easy to steady for shorter riders. Also I recommend looking at the z400 from Kawasaki.
Does it got a gear position indicator??
Pavan Kumar no it does not but that’s not a big deal as you get used to the bike.
125 version had, this one not
Is it ok for touring.
Shashank Naidu it would do fine IMO. The engine wasn’t buzzy feeling above 70 or so to me.
Why is this a R but it looks like a F?

In the USA yes. A 300 is a beginner bike. You don’t even need a license to buy a bike. My first street bike was a Ducati 848evo back in 2012. Then again we don’t have many 2 strokes on the road here.
I’m 6ft will it be okay for me?

No doubt its got one of Honda's light chains, adjust after ever ride and replace by Ten Thousand Klm's...Ok,so light bikes are good, but light chains are a pain in the arh you know?
I kind of get too uncomfortable when they say entry level bike😥, here in India this is close to a super bike. This bike on Indian streets will attract attention as any of the 700 to 1000 cc bike would do.😅
Entry for the US. Larger sized bike in India and Asia for sure!
If your interstate has a 70mph limit you can take a 100mph 300 to an interstate!
no, gears are too short, at 99 mph engine hit rev limiter
Tony mods I’ve seen done so far on this bike are a 15t sprocket for better top end speed, intake, exhaust, and a quality tune. Should bump it around 40 hp, more then enough for interstate travel
That's shabby at all 😂
thinking of trading my cb500f 2014 for this one
Nice review, gotta fix that camera angle tho
Stinkn Chabs definitely recorded in wide instead of super view. Haha
always buy a bike with a gear indicator
Respectfully disagree. I never had a issue on any bikes I’ve had that didn’t have them. But find myself checking the indicator often on the FZ.
Once you learn to ride a bike, you'll realise that you don't need a gear indicator.
