This is the brilliant Honda CB300R and my review of the bike. Please like and subscribe for more like this video and give it a thumbs up.
The Honda CB300R is a popular motorcycle model produced by Honda Motor Company. It falls under the category of naked bikes or streetfighters and is known for its sporty styling and agile performance.
Here are some key features and specifications of the Honda CB300R:
    1. Engine: The CB300R is powered by a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 286cc engine. It delivers smooth power and torque suitable for urban commuting and spirited riding.
    2. Design: The CB300R features a minimalist and aggressive design with a neo-retro appeal. It has a muscular fuel tank, an LED headlight, and a compact tail section. The overall styling is focused on a modern and sporty look.
    3. Chassis and Suspension: The motorcycle is built on a lightweight and sturdy frame, providing good handling characteristics. It has a comfortable upright riding position suitable for both short commutes and longer rides. The suspension consists of upside-down front forks and a mono-shock at the rear.
    4. Brakes and Tires: The CB300R is equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, providing reliable stopping power. It also comes with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) for enhanced safety. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels with grippy tires for better traction on different road conditions.
    5. Instrumentation: The bike features a digital instrument cluster that provides essential information such as speed, gear position, fuel level, and trip meters. It is easy to read and provides a modern touch to the overall design.
    6. Availability: The Honda CB300R is available in various markets globally. However, please note that availability and specifications may vary depending on your location and the specific model year.
It's always recommended to visit a local Honda dealership or check the official Honda website for the most up-to-date information about the CB300R in your area, including pricing, available features, and any recent updates.

Awesome video, definitely getting this as my first time in Japan (CB250 since there is no 300 here). Been at a motorcycle school for 10 sessions so far (7 more to go until the test) with the CB400 and the 250 is definitely enough power for me, especially as a first time rider. I've read on many forums the suggestion to change the front sprocket from the stock 14 to a 15 tooth to make that short first gear a bit taller and to reduce the rpm at higher speeds. Some claim consistanly exceeding tbe max torque (6500 rpm & 60 mph) will reduce the engine life to about 10k miles. What are your thoughts on these issues?

But at 61 years of age I don't bounce like I used to! The 300 is of course a lot lighter which was a big factor for me, plus it has enough grunt to put a 'cackle on me chops'. All best.

You sir gave one hell of a review! I'm having trouble deciding between Kawasaki Z, Honda CB and Yamaha MT 250/300cc naked bikes. My country brings in only the 250cc most likely due to the nature of our license system (B2 sub 250 and B for unlimited). The Honda CB is the most expensive ones among the three bikes here and people often gets put off from the fact that CB is a single while the other two are twins and still 15% cheaper than the Honda.

    • @exeterrider

What I love about Honda's little "beginner bike" is they make it inexpensive to own and beautifully well to get new riders hooked on their brand and so you get more bang for your buck than with any other bike, new rider or not. As for my buddies making fun of my little bike, smaller than my previous bikes, they don't anymore because now they know I can lose them on a twisty road with it if I want to. No, it doesn't do litre bike 200mph speed but I don't care how fast an idiot can go in a straight line because the winding roads were made for me and this bike was made for them. A perfect match.

While my friends were going on about Yamaha being more exciting or something, and being extremely critical of Honda, I've always found myself gravitating towards Honda after reading the reviews. I guess it just attracts different folks.
with regards to not wanting more power, I have to agree to a large degree. I used to be looking at large displacement but after I started track riding (not GP track, but smaller motorcycle track) i came to understand that the 300-ish motorcycle is really where my current skill level allows me to really enjoy the bike.
the more i ride on track, the less i feel the need to open up on the public road. the other important thing is that the 300-ish cc bikes are much cheaper to track, use less oil, cheaper tyres and consumables. would i want more? perhaps if my skills eventually catches up, but for now i think a small and light bike is more than enough

I can sit on 100kph all day on a Honda PCX 150 on a highway so I would certainly imagine a 300 would have no problem since it still has power which I sort of lack at that speed. Also as for windscreen after riding with a big screen on a Nomad for 15 years I really miss that. Maybe if you live where there are no bugs to smear on your visor; but you have to clean your visor every hour or 2 where I live. So a reasonable screen is a must. I think the bike could handle that. I had a Kawasaki Ninja 300. It was a great bike!
It was really good around the town and all the mods were really cheap (I bought an aftermarket exhaust for only £60). I went on a 180 mile mini tour with other people and I was able to keep on B-roads. I do have to say that it was a little buzzy on motorways so it wasn't a great tourer. The bike isn't really made for that though so I didn't mind.
Unfortunately some uninsured chav from London slammed into my bike on my scooter and wrote it off! It was a real shame, but I used the money to buy an SV650.

Hi and thanks. I like both bikes and nearly bought a 310r myself. Although now I have tried the 310gs I think I prefer that one.
They are both great bikes but there are more vibes on the 310 that can get annoying after a while perhaps. Overall the Honda feels more refined and the 310s could do with a update. Its a hard one to call and I was in the same predicament.

What we need to know - can it cope on a motorway, can you sit on it till the seaside arrives and a demo of its better points coping with that driver who couldn't park their own car. Weirdly enough the two in the frame for a second bike are the CB300r or a Royal Enfield Classic 500 I just love the looks and sound of this thumper with the aftermarket exhaust Dick Whistles has on his.( Look him up on UA-cam ) but really like the usablity and nimbleness of the CB300r. The part where you said you would never miss the power of the bigger bikes.. thats exactly what I have always felt. These little nippy 300s can handle everything you throw at them - city, highway, a bit of planned touring, I mean why not, and with a single cylinder fuel economy (and a low profile to not attract a lot of pesky attention - at least in India). I have never felt the urge for a bigger capacity bike. Despite all good intentions, finally it comes down to around 90+% city riding and the remaining on highways/tours.

FYI, I brought home a new 2019 CB300R yesterday and have been having a lot of fun driving around. It's powerful and very nimble. So far it's great except for the the same few deficiencies you mentioned. Its definitely short geared. From every stop, you have to go up to 5th and 6th to run about 40 mph so you're constantly shifting, although some think that's actually part of the fun of driving a motorcyle. The mirrors are small and you can't see much behind you , but honestly in city driving, I don't like taking my eyes off the road in front of me. I might add a windscreen, but again, if not touring, that wind is part of the excitement of driving a bike. One other thing that is a two edged sword is the weight. Its so very light (317 lbs wet) that its easy to lug about, is nimble and results in more power ; the bad is that uneven road bumps and patches can give you a jolting lift. I've not caught any air, but I've had to go up on the pegs and hold on tight as you do get tossed up. Otherwise it's fun, a bit of adventure terrain and the suspension handles it just fine. So far so good.

For a good 3 years - between bikes - I had an sh300i. For some reason I never considered having more than one bike at a time. But now, for commuting purposes and I don't want to use my "big" bike, a cb300 looks like a good scooter alternative. Fun, better performance, and even cheaper.

You know what...your right Gary. You cant beat just easily pulling a bike out the garage and just going about your journey. The CB300 was superb but the short gears got irritating I found. When you got to 30-40 you were in 6th gear and when you got to 50ish you were in need of another gear.
The sh300 you didnt have to think about that but a manual 300 or certinly this one you would.

I had a GT 250m Ram Air back in 1978. I'm now thinking of returning to biking and after watching lots of reviews on here of different size bikes, i am convinced a 300 would be ideal. It's not about the power anymore. It's about the freedom and having fun with the power available. Think a CB 300 would leave a GT 250 behind anyway !!

I agree, I use my Inazuma 250 a lot more than my FZ1 just because it's a lot simpler day to day and I can't really think of a time where I thought 1000cc was a great choice (other than bragging rights ha). I hate the weird mindset the motorcycle industry has that you have to move up and anything below 600cc is a beginners bike, some people even consider 650s beginner bikes 50hp + is more than enough.
