- Learn how to set up your files for double sided clear acrylic keychains when ordering from Vograce, and how to create digital mock ups!
✧
Hello viewers! Thanks for tuning in to another of my #tutorial videos! Today I'd love to share with you how I design and set up my .PSD files for ordering acrylic keychains with Vograce. I've also included a quick tutorial on how I create digital mock-ups of that design, so I can share it before the keychain is made and delivered to me!
Please keep in mind that this is NOT a tutorial on how to order with Vograce, only how to set up your Photoshop (or Procreate) files to send off for ordering. I order from Vograce in a very non-traditional way, and there are plenty of tutorials out there on how to order with them!
I have used this or a very similar method when ordering acrylic keychains from Zap, so I imagine this method would be acceptable to send to any acrylic keychain manufacturer! But if you are ever unsure, please double check with your manufacturer to prevent order issues! Vograce keychains are very easy to make and order, but can be tricky when making them the first time. Hence, How To Set Up Acrylic Keychain Files for Vograce!

What canvas size do I use for stuff like this? Does it matter?
@@losersweepers. I recommend making the canvas the size you want the end result to be, to ensure the printing comes out crisp!
@@LeSpiritDesigns alright, what specific size do you normally do? I just want an example if that makes sense lol
@@losersweepers. Mine are usually about 3 inches
That digial mockup is genius, I was actually going to pay a professional photographer for my keychains and smaller items but now I can BE the pro.
Hell yeah! Save your money~
Thank you! This video was super helpful for getting my first order ready!
I’m so glad to hear that!
This helps so much! If you do (in the future) make enamel pins from Vograce you should totally do a video process 💕
I'm so glad! I actually don't order my pins from Vograce, and my pin manufacturer is the only secret I keep ;w; But I could do a tutorial about how I create my pin files to send to manufacturers!
@@LeSpiritDesigns yes please that would be super helpful! Also thanks for sharing these tips. Now I know how I should speak to my manufacturer and how I should have all my files ready so they know I’m not mucking around lol
Already love you girl! You have a poster of keith kogane in the back! plus your content is amazing this really helps me a lot for my future sticker shop.
Thank you!! And yesss I love those posters, I can’t bring it in me to take them down! 😂
thank you for posting this tutorial!! does the canvas size matter when creating your design as well as the file you send to the manufacturer? i usually work on a pretty big canvas so i’m wondering if it’ll create any complications in the process. thanks again for this lovely video!!
You're very welcome, I'm glad it was helpful! I always make my art at 300dpi in case I want to use it in a printed material, but yes I also make the canvas size the size I want the final charm to be, if not bigger!
the voltron posters in the back !! v😄😄😍😍
Those posters are still on the wall!
@@LeSpiritDesigns yesss!!
Once you have your 4 layers. (The Front Art, White, Back Art & Outline) Do you just attach the file when you go to order the charms? It will be fine like that? 🥰
Yes! I just upload the PSD file to them, so they have access to all the separate layer. This is especially important if you do translucent parts!
Informative video! What is the canvas size you usually use when creating a piece to send to the manufacturer?
I’m glad it was helpful! My canvas size is set to 300dpi and usually about 3.5-4”, or a little bigger than the final size of the actual charm!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! Do you have to upload the front and back images separately?
Front and back should be separate layers on one PSD file! But if you can’t do a PSD with layers, let your manu know that you have the front and back for one charm in two files
@@LeSpiritDesigns Thank you so much! I can't wait to try this service!
This tutorial is really helpful! I do have a couple of questions.
1. Do you convert your files into CMYK? If not, do your charms still come out vibrant in color? Would you recommend it?
2. I work on an ipad, and I can make files for art, should I put each separate layer (ex. front design, middle, back design, ect) into the file or just export it as a PSD?
Im making a shaker charm and haven’t been able to find videos that I can understand (I have seen yours, but I cant fully grasp what I’m supposed to do with files specifically).
I’m glad it was helpful! So I don’t normally convert my files to CMKY, but you do want to be mindful of using colors that won’t print very well. If you’re concerned about colors, you can always ask then manu to do a test print for you to see and adjust if needed. And yes, absolutely separate each part of the design as its own layer AND export/send it as a PSD so the manu has access to those layers!
What if I don't have a good art program? Im making my design from ibis paint on mobile since I don't have any good programs, would that be okay too?
I don’t really have any experience with that, so I would recommend reaching out to Vograce to ask what they think!
Super late, but I use IbisPaintX for all of my designs, and it has worked out well for both prints and keychains!
This is a very late question, since I only recently checked out Vograce, but for the front and the back, do they flip the back artpiece themselves to match the symmetry or should you flip it yourself?
Thank you for the informative video! 🍀Despite their explanations on the site, some details still remain a bit vague for me personally.
I’m glad it was helpful! I always leave them to flip the artwork as needed, if that helps~
@@LeSpiritDesigns Ohh I see, I was afraid they would somehow go like okay it's gonna be offset then, too bad
Thank you!! That's good to know :)
I'm not good at measuring and in my country we don't use inches so it may be a silly question. But if I want a 2'5 inches keychain do I have to make the drawing in that same size or do they just make it themselves and I only have to specify the size, so the measures of the digital design doesn't matter that much?
So if you make your digital art too small, it will print pixelated so the size does matter! Drawing it the size of the finished printed piece is usually the best way to go. And there’s no need to use inches, most manufacturers actually use cm and mm!
do you have the file for the keychain holder?if not what do I search to find them?>< like the ones with hearts, stars and flowers?
I don't believe I have an updated one, but if you click on any of the keychain listings on their site, it will have the attachment images in the product photo lineup!
What was the brush you used for the shading on the leaf?
That’s a brush from Kecky’s brush sets! You can Google them, I got them from gumroad a few years ago~
@@LeSpiritDesigns thank you so much! I definitely will.🫶🏼
Are you able to use a different software such as procreate or does it have to be adobe?
You can use whatever art software you have!
I have a question. I use picsart which it grabs my picture and automatically turns it into a pgn file. There's no way to edit the layers. Would that be fine to just send it the way it is? 🤔
I think that should be fine, but if you have any concerns about the file setup, just reach out to Vograce!
@@LeSpiritDesigns thank you!
where do you get files that have the charm attachments from?
You can ask the manufacturer for it!
Vograce website says we need to send them in cmyk, did you send yours in cmyk or would rgb be fine?
I’ve always sent mine as RGB, unless the colors aren’t print friendly then they should be fine!
Have you ever designed keychains in illustrator? If you have it would be awesome if you did a tutorial for adobe illustrator as well
I don't use Illustrator much, I'm sorry! I was never quite able to grasp it as well as I could Photoshop Q~Q
@@LeSpiritDesigns aww that's ok .. I realize that photoshop is the go to for designing charms
hi! will it be okay for you to share the file of the keychain rings? thank you so much! the one you showed in 7:36
I think that list of attachments is outdated now, but on vograce’s website you can see all of the available ones!
Hi can I upoload a drawing from procreate? I want to upload double Side different design that I’ve finished.
You should reach out to a staff member at vograce or whatever company you use to be sure! But you should be able to export it as a PSD from procreate
@@LeSpiritDesigns ah ok thank you and I struggle to talk to them on chat will they mail me when I’ll order something?
I noticed that your photoshop file was RGB and not CMYK like they said to do on their website. Does that make a difference?
That’s a good question! I’ll change the file type to CMYK if the design has some colors I worry won’t convert well, but otherwise there isn’t a risk to me!
Hey 👋 I just ordered a few and I’m still waiting on the confirmation email. Does this usually take a while to send?
Ordered what? I don’t work for Vograce, I’m just an artist who uses their service. I would email Vograce directly
@@LeSpiritDesigns yeah I know you don’t work for them but you’ve ordered in the past right? Or do they send it for free? Was just asking if I’m suppose to receive a confirmation email confirming my order?
May I ask where do you find for manufacturers?? 🥺🥺
I find most of mine on Alibaba!
@@LeSpiritDesigns thank you so much! You are the only one to reply!!! 🥰🥰🥰😍😍😘😘🙏🏻❤
@@api.m11 No problem!
Can u please do washi tape tutorial on that site for me please I’m struggling would really appreciate it so much I would love some help please
I'm still figuring out the best way to do washi tape myself, but manufacturers will have templates for you for washi tape!
Instructions are difficult to follow if your not an experience photoshop user.
I’m sorry about that! It definitely isn’t a tutorial for beginner photoshop users, but there are plenty out there to watch before diving into tutorials like this!
this is not diy keychain
I never claimed it was for DIY! This is a tutorial on how to set up files for ordering acrylic keychains with Vograce.
