Idk if u know this but u can cut shrink plastic with a Cricut machine, just copy ur design and put on top of each other select and acetate setting and put pressure more!
A tip for opening jump rings - twist them open and closed instead of pulling them open and pressing them closed. They will be stronger, hold better, and not deform. This is because twisting metal causes the atoms inside to align together, and the metal becomes become stronger as a result. Pulling and pushing cause atoms to scatter, and the metal becomes weaker and breaks at the bending point. Plus, twisting is easier than pulling and pushing.
These are adorable! Also I good tip with the jump rings, it looked like you pulled them apart at the sides, try not to do that because it actually weakens them a and it’s hard to get them back to a circle. Take one pair of pliers on one side and the second pair on the other, hold one side still and with the other hand slightly push forward to open the ring, then put your piece in and the side that you pushed open, pull closed. It keeps the strength and shape of the ring better.
I came here to say this! You move each end a bit sideways to open it up. Another tip is to make sure your needle nose pliers don’t have teeth, use jewelry ones!
Hi also when opening the jump rings, it’s better to twist sideways instead of pulling it apart because it creates weak spots in the ring and it doesn’t close as neatly.
Ooh it's possible that a clear coat could work but I'm not sure how it'll hold up over time. I think it's worth a try if you happen to have it at home! Doesn't hurt to do a little test piece and see :3
I've heard that the resin can easily slide off of shrink plastic after curing since apparently the type of plastic is resistant resin! To avoid this, people have suggested to coat the piece with mod podge before applying the resin, so the resin adheres to the mod podge layer... has there been any issues with your charms?
Yes I've definitely heard that before! Thankfully, I haven't seen any issues with the charms/keychains I've made. At the moment, I don't see the resin lifting from the shrink plastic material and even if I scratch at it, it feels like it's one whole piece rather than two layers.
I’m not exactly sure how you can make the background glittery but I have seen people try mixing glitter in with the resin to create that shimmery effect! There might be other tutorials for that :)
Yay that's awesome! It's been awhile since I made mine, but the biggest dimension was probably around 2.5 inches (6.35 cm) and it shrunk down to around 1.25 inches (3.175 cm). Hope that helps! The shrinking may vary if it is a different brand as well. Your first batch will likely become testers so just have fun with it and play around with different sizes :)
Would resin be sold at stores like hobby lobby or is it more of an online purchase? I love how the pins and keychains turned out and want to try making my own :)
The instructions do not have any warnings about it being toxic when used in a conventional oven, so I am hoping that it is safe. To be cautious, I would avoid baking food on a tray that was used to shrink plastic in case it leaves any residue/traces.
You can start off by tracing designs for fun! It is nice being able to make custom designs but I'm sure you can still make it fun depending on your skill level ☺
Yes I would say so! It's been 3 months since I first made this video and all my creations have no signs of the resin peeling off. I don't even know if I could peel the resin off if I tried haha
I have a question 😅 is there something else i could use instead of resin ? See im indee 18 and my parents dont allow me to use resin ...is there something else's you could recommend ? I tried using floor varnish but it kept smudging them and tge coloured pencil ones i did. Do ypu have something to recommend ?😢❤
@@mandateee thank you so much for answering !☺️ People usually don't answer the questions i ask 😅 . Il try to uss modge podge !❤️ You just won yourself a sub
I'm not quite sure! I haven't used wood colors so I can't say how it would work :( Acrylic paint markers will work best for this because I tried regular acrylic paint and it peeled when I baked the keychains in the oven.
With UV resin, it can harden when it's put outside in the sun, so the UV lamp is definitely optional! The UV lamp is a bit faster and good if you live somewhere that is more overcast.
I haven’t used regular resin before but it might be able to work! I think regular resin might take longer to harden so there’s the risk of dust and other particles getting stuck while you wait for it to dry
You can free hand your designs but since I have a printer, it makes it easier for me to trace whatever design I have in mind. The resin isn't necessary, but I think it gives it a nice look. I've seen that some people use mod podge instead too!
If you would like extra protection and a glossy finish, I would recommend getting some UV resin if you can! You don't need a UV light because the resin can also harden in sunlight. I personally haven't tried other alternatives to UV resin but there might be other tutorials that explore that :)
@@mandateee falso will leave it to kinda settle and then slowly stir in the sparkles /pigment , for epoxy you can’t for toooooo long ! Cause in 20 mins it starts to harden.

really cute but can flame the top of the uv resin before curing to get rid of the bubbles so the bubbles dont cure into in the finish

I was wondering if you have and tips on how to make the jump rings/chain secure? mine keep breaking off :(
I would highly recommend investing in higher quality jump rings and chains! That's the only real way I've found that helps them stay secure:(
superglue? Resin?
Heyyy! I love the tutorial its very useful but i was wondering if there was another appliance that we could use instead of the oven to bake it :D
Hi! I believe some people use heat guns on these but I'm not sure if the plastic will shrink evenly in comparison to the oven.
Those are all so cute 🥰
its look so cute and meditative!
hello! quick question! with these markers, did you use the frosted side or the glossy side?
Hi! I used the frosted side :)
Thanks for incarage me with this video 👍😸❤️
Is there a way to to this by printing onto the shrink plastic so you don’t have to use markers?
I'm not sure about printing, but if your not a fan of markers, coloured pencils work great. 😊
Pastels also.
What app would you recommend for the drawings?

Since the sticker is not shrink plastic, it will not shrink with the plastic shrink. If you draw it, the design will shrink along with it.
