One of my favourite Johnny Depp movies. It’s just so off the charts strange, bizarre and touching all at once. Lovely scene between two great masters of cinema. ❤️❤️❤️
@@patlydeval2453 Yes! For me, it’s beautiful because it speaks of how we deal with very real human qualities (eg. loss, grief, depression) and it does so through this fantastical lens; i.e. where do we, or how can we deal with these emotions? How do we cope when bad things happen to us? What will we do? Who do we let ourselves become? How do we become our best self despite everything we encounter in life? I think that’s what I loved so much about it, Depp and Brando played out that side of humanity so beautifully. ❤️ (The bonus was the way Brando’s character (in this scene) empathetically plays along with the ‘delusion’ by becoming “Don Octavio de Flores” - with an accent no less! Love it. Bravo!
This was the movie that made me a Johnny Depp fan. It’s one of the few movies I’ve ever bought for home..I watch it every now and then when I need a mood boost.
Brando sets the mark and johnny depp clearly was able to hold his own against the likes of brando.A lesser man would of wounde up making a fool out of himself .The way these two play off each other is priceless
That voice you hear at the beginning was Selena so everyone add her to your RIP list. She never even got to see the premiere of the movie. Movie came out. I believe a few weeks after she was murdered. I love Johnny Depp in this movie. He’s just so adorable.
Richard Sarafin as the police captain is excellent too. He and Brando engage in a bit of improv about their weight at the beginning of the scene. Sarafin has a great comeback: "We both attend the same bakery."
Underrated? It had fantastic reviews when it came out in the theater though it was more beloved by male reviewers than women reviewers. I loved it then and I continue to watch it from time to time. Excellent sound track also.
You can see the adoration in Johnny's eyes when he looks at Marlin all throughout the movie. I also loved how he said in the hearing that he wanted to rush back to the penthouse to get the gift/gifts that Marline gave him before AH damaged them or git rid of them. That just shows the amount of love and respect that he has for Marlin
AH is like a curse!! When all of JD and AH thing came out some years ago.. It looked like they were abusive to each other... and it was just pure cheating on her part to go complaining about him on public.. but then it was justified because women need to be heard above men. But then the way the trial unfolded... i have become sure that evil and crazy has no gender and AH is a curse on JD.
There's good insanity, & there's bad insanity. Both Brando & Depp where/are certifiable. Both afflicted/blessed w/the good. Most great artists of every genre are touched.
Every autumn since 1994 I've played the Don Juan sound track daily for two weeks, Bose speakers resonating through the house and into the streets. It is a Mood. Michael Kamen's genius, every note. I did not love Johnny then as I do now, so perhaps time for another viewing of this obscure little gem.
This is a great psychology-lesson in fact, when someone is psychotic - talk to them on their level. Don't antagonize. Be a friend. Support. Recognize. Agree. And then offer other thoughts, with empathy. And suggestion. And friendship.
Johnny must have enjoyed every single moment working with Brando, an actor who inspired many actors such as Al Pacino, De Niro or even Jack Nicholson, whose dream was working with him, until he did it because he considered Marlon his greatest idol since he was a kid.
This is a wonderful film. Brando blew me away, yes he is amazing - and Depp was wonderful too and so is Faye Dunaway. This film is a gem. Highly recommended.
que bien hace el acento de un español hablando inglés Johny, increíble. Marlon Brandon mi actor favorito junto de Niro, Deep... pero Brandon es una leyenda., gigante, único.

I saw and get in love with this movie when I met my now husband, 25 years ego. Now I explained my daughter I was looking for my own Don Juan de Marco, and she answered me, now you are the older couple who needs to find them selves
Where’s our Marlin Brando when we need him … he had many answers to our philosophical questions that remain unanswered because of his Reluctantly unable and refusal to give His mindset on these our questions
Is there any role Johnny can’t play? When asked if he would ever do a romantic comedy he laughed and said no way! He said it would be a disaster. I would love to see him in romantic comedy.
I think he was laughing at the idea of playing a typical/cliche rom-com character. He only goes for roles with another level of depth. But with the right writer that is possible in that genre for sure.
A very good movie. Of course Don Juan was fictitious, but Casanova was real... Being a hopeless Romantic is an incurable disease, but it is also contagious...
@Kroldrup I'm impressed Kroldrup! I think you're right. Having read a bit about Brando's acting in his later years, it would make sense that he would think and perform in this way.
@FarAwayPlace Haven't seen the film, so it's just a guess. But since Brando was speaking in his natural accent with the cop, I think he used the Spanish accent to kind of relate to Depp's character in order for him to feel comfortable.
@Kroldrup Very good, Kroldrup. Forgive my ignorance but does that point reveal itself in the plot (that Brando uses a Spanish accent to stop Depp from killing himself)? Or is it your own (and I think it's spot on) inferrence that Brando did that?
@FarAwayPlace I don't think it's any form of method acting, it's pretty obvious that he adopted the accent because he was pretending to be "don francisco's uncle"
@Theozen Flojo It's Don Juan DeMarco, made in 94. JD's character is delusional, believes he's the world's greatest lover, and Brando is the psychiatrist who tries to make him better but catches the love bug himself. Something like that. Great little movie. Check out Bryan Adams' Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman.
RIP Marlon Brando (April 3, 1924 - July 1, 2004), aged 80
You will be remembered as a legend.
More than a legend. A pleasure.
Amazing movies starring two cinema legends. Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando have great chemistry on screen.
One of my favourite Johnny Depp movies. It’s just so off the charts strange, bizarre and touching all at once. Lovely scene between two great masters of cinema. ❤️❤️❤️
I agree. This movie is underrated.
I thought I would never find anyone who loves that movie as much as I do.
I believe it's misunderstood.
I love the movie and Bryan Adams song. ❤️❤️❤️

The movie addressed what we are struggling with today.. mental health ..

One of my absolute favorite Johnny Depp movies. He's such a beautiful soul and so talented! 💜
Johnny Depp was so adorable in this movie!
Johnny Depp is a beautiful man inside and outside and he's amazing man and I love him so much ❤
There is a very powerful energy between these two, Brando and Depp. No wonder they became friends.
R.I.P Marlon Brando.
Richard Sarafin as the police captain is excellent too. He and Brando engage in a bit of improv about their weight at the beginning of the scene. Sarafin has a great comeback: "We both attend the same bakery."
Double dose of charisma for you ladies
An absolute delightful movie. Brilliant acting by JD and MB. One of my favorites.
Underrated. Exquisite. Believable. Heart-breaking The mind bending performance belongs to Don Juan DEPP.

The idea that she would even think about doing something like that, is pure evil. I mean, a gift from Brando! That cow.
Two legends!
Brando loved him like a son - his own children didn’t amount to much
🙏🏽💔🙏🏻

@@Cristobels-Green-Bootsnot fair they didn’t amount to anything. A father doesn’t love his kids because of their accomplishments.
Brando opens gate and motions to step in: "Please" . Depp : "I accept" and steps in. Brando: "Bravo"....I laughed, great chemistry!
The accent change. And the tone change. He knows how to help someone with a mental illness.

Good is a big word
Or maybe we cannot understand their world of genius and creativity
"You and me been going to the same bakery" lol
I love how natural Marlon Brando is acting. He honestly just looks like someone who took his grandkids out to the zoo but got caught in this mess.
Yup. My favorite movie ever 😋
a great actor who acted with the greates Marlon Brando Al Pacino , ,,,, but the public wanted to believe a gold digger slut !!!!

* Extremely * underrated movie. Ironically, Brando called Depp "a kid" just as Depp called Knightly "a kid" in the pirate movies.
They were just 'kidding' around.
Sorry.
This one and chocolate…. To die for. Great movies showcasing great actors.
"If you love, your love is eternal.": it may be no truer word of love were spoken. Bravo.
To feel such a love just once is all...and I did
"if" being the operable word here. A love that is different than a love for a mother, but if to love your true lover, you will not know 'true love'

I love how the director casted another enormous actor to play the other cop. So Brando wouldn't look so out of place. 😂
As if they had to ad lib the bakery drivel.
I love 💕 Johnny ,,, he can play anything he remindeds me of a kid who can play any character and u applaud him he's so cute 🥰
Loved this film, although I watched it decades after it was made.
Still one of my favorite movies🌟🌟🌟🌟💕🖖

Awesome movie own it have watched it many times!
The music of this movie is brilliant and matches perfectly with the material. I have the dvd.
Depp is very good in this scene!
Love the way that Dr. Mickler's feigned Spanish accent drifts into an Italian accent. This makes sense for someone who played "The Godfather."
Love both of them !
Damn.......I just had this feeling watching this at the drive-in.
Incredible movie and super underrated.
JD was excellent acting in front of Marlon!
Has one of the best soundtracks ever!
Waooooo que excelente actuación.. Un Maestro un alumno y Ahora ambos maestros!!!!
