in many ways Depp is Brandos successor. I truly believe that

@@Story2ScreenMovieReviewPodcast I agree on many levels. The big difference is Depp will talk acting, and the process. He takes naturally to stardom. Brando didn't. And Depp (wisely) doesn't get deeply involved in controversial causes. ( Brando with the Indians) but one can imagine younger Brando in most Depp roles ( not Scissorhands, or the Burton stuff) and Depp could be in most of the young Brando parts. They have a very similar charisma and lite from within.

@@jefolson6989 He was awful in Pirates of the Carribean. He was ok in Donnie Brasco, but he was poorly directed. He acted as if he had an important secret he didn't want anyone to know......then the boss finds out there's a rat....then they find out it's Donnie and the Boss says, "Not Donnie!" And I'm thinking, "Well, he skulked around the whole movie, why are you surprised?" He should have been acting like the most wild of the Good Fellas, bullying, bragging, yelling,a nd making them all laugh. He even says in the narration that he was being carried away with the gang life...really enjoying it.....but we never saw that. If we had, then when the Boss says "NOT DONNIE!" we could understand his shock.

      How right you both are.
I’m sure Johnny will get his roles back (Disney are looking at likely billions if he returns as Captain Jack Sparrow & we all know how they’ll be salivating at the prospect), or perhaps be offered & refuse - the fan in me would love him to return for Disney but the ethics in me is hoping he’d tell them to feck off!
Reckon though, that if they offer him an obscene amount of money he’d be daft not to.
      It’d also drive Turd bonkers😆
Anyway, it’s still shit that Johnny & us have missed six years of his prime…☹️
Here’s wishing him all the very best…

1993: complete doppelgänger of my childhood friend and boyfriend who had the same initials!
2016, 1:17 min ref “no one wants to be novelty” resonates. A lot.
Whether it’s someone in the entertainment industry who gets hounded or, in my case a regular person who has always intensely disliked being “brown girl in the ring”. The novelty black woman that the indigenous men refer to as “exotic”. I’m not a mango/pineapple 🙄 but that was the (foolish) choice I made to raise a daughter in a London suburb that “should” have been safe from predators.

Brandon hated pretension and dishonesty and hypocrisy, and people trying to be famous for fames sake. Whether Brando was correct or not, Depp passed his smell test. They really were very close friends, that’s why Marlon did The Brave as a favor.
Brando understood that it’s a business and sometimes you have to promote. He did Larry King twice.

Seriously? You freak. You have never been in your friends bedroom? When friends are single and very close they go all over each others homes.

Just watched Tango for the Nth time. Frankly, made in 1972, I’m amazed it got released. Ass F@cking, Pig Vomit..,it gets down and dirty🤭. In ‘72 you don’t see women sitting on toilets peeing! Raw reality Raw Lust.

He was a gay icon pure and simple.
