this is a super helpful tutorial! you explain and show everything so well, I've struggled with getting this stitch to behave and none of the other tutorials told me to be mindful of where the x:es should end up which I bet has been part of my issue. your explanations are also so thoughtful, it really helps to understand the process!
What a beautiful piece of work! I wish I crocheted but my mind does not seem to get the crochet Idea. So I do knitting at least I got to make a knitted afghan for all my grandchildren.
Unfortunately you just have to unravel it and do it over until it's correct. I probably missed a stitch in the first messed up row and it snowballed after until I got it back on track.
Slow down the video and watch how I count each stich especially at the ends. Practice practice practice! Also with tunisian crochet I count every stitch every row even after 15+ years of crochet 😅
How do you deal with having all those knots throughout your work? I wanted to do this pattern for a scarf but the knots were so annoying I frogged it and with the traditional way of leaving the ends like mosaic and creating an envelope border. Will maybe try it for a tote bag or pillow covering because all those hard knots in a wearable is unmanageable. Beautiful pattern and helpful tutorial though.
I would love to try this. Any ideas for what kind of projects you can do with this stitch? I was thinking of a baby blanket, but something smaller and less ambitious would suit me more.
In cotton this would make an awesome dish cloth or hand towel. A tote bag. mermaid tail blanket. Home decor with the right colours...e.g. wall hang, plant pot cover, throw pillow with tassels, etc.
How would you go about using the same color for more than one row ? Would I just ignore tying off a new color and just continue the next row with the same color or is there a different stitch process for that ?
The problem is that you would have to start your next row in that colour from the opposite end, if that makes sense, because your return pass would be in white. But maybe you could find a way to work it both directions

I don’t understand... at the beg with the back pass, you started w going through 2 loops at the first st; then later switched to doing only 1 loop which is the traditional method w Tunisian. Can you explain plz? I understand wht the 2 for the foundation sc row, I’m talking after. Thx
Unfortunately no. If you want the front forward pass colour to be different from the back return pass you have to cut. A good rule to know if you are able to do colour changes without cutting and just carrying the yarn up instead is if a pattern has an even amount of row repeats. So eg. In order to create the full stitch pattern it would need to be a 2 row repeat, 4 row repeat, etc. If it's an odd number your yarn colour won't be on at the start of the row where you need it to be. I hope that makes sense. In tunisian crochet the forward and return pass count separately for "row repeats" in terms of colour changes. So your yarn colour would have to be carried through both the forward and return pass of the row to allow for a colour change without cutting. Hope this helps!
@@kathyd7506I think if you use 2 ball of one color and 2 of the other color it might work. I’ll be working on this in a few weeks 🙃I’m mentally preparing myself first 😂while I finish some other WIPs
Glad I can learn about crocheting and border patrol incidents in a single channel.
I love seeing someone else who uses the back loop of a chain. Amazing tutorial and beautiful work
Excellent tutorial, clear instructions with well focused crocheted work. Glad I found you. Thank you.
Very clear explanation, there aren’t any more doubts left for this stitch, thank you!
Thank you for actually speaking. Very good instructions.
Pretty stitch ... how would you make a border for it? Where the ends have been tied on the sides is very noticeable.
Perhaps an envelope border. It's often used in tapestry / mosaic crochet to hide the ends, no need to do magic knots
I can do a video on boarders sometime❤
I'd do a simple 5 dc shell around.

@@capturedmoments8484 congratulations! i hope everything goes well & i will look forward to more from you whenever it happens ☺️
Any suggestions of colors to use?
@@janellkrueger6148 depends if you want a more vibrant or muted pallet!
Beautiful skills. I love your works ❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you. I love how you explain every step ❤
This is gorgeous
What a beautiful piece of work! I wish I crocheted but my mind does not seem to get the crochet Idea. So I do knitting at least I got to make a knitted afghan for all my grandchildren.
And I can't get the hang of knitting to save my life 😅
Sehr schön 😍👍
Du erklärst das sehr gut.Vielen Dank ❣️
Alles Gute dir und deinem Baby 😇🍀❤️
Great tutorial!!!! Very clear instructions and demo. Thank you so much, it’s a beautiful stitch!❤❤
Beautiful ❤️, can't wait to try
Beautiful! I just don't know how I would like changing the colors at the end of each row....😊
That was my problem too as it left these little hard knots
Great instructions however it would be better WITHOUT the music
Could you use a double ended Tunisian hook instead of cutting the yarn every time?
Wouldn't that b one of the purposes of double ended?
That sounds interesting... I should try this out...
20 years crocheting and didn't know that was a thing 🤣
Thank you ❤ would you give tutorial How TO FIXED missing stitches ex. ? 😊

Thank you
I am having trouble keeping the ends of my work straight and I keep going down in count. I made a triangle 😅. Any advice?

I'm two months late but I'm thinking of a sling bag or book bag with this stitch...

What weight of yarn and size hook are you using?
I want to do just the netting mermaid scale without the colors in the middle can you please do a tutorial on that???
Yes i could!
Very pretty. Where did you get your hooks?
Walmart!
No sé inglés ,traducir por favor!!!

The yarn over covers for the second loop that you go through with the white.
I plan to use a variegated colored yarn instead of the rainbow. Is there a way to not cut the yarn at every row?!
Unfortunately no. If you want the front forward pass colour to be different from the back return pass you have to cut. Would it work to have two balls of each yarn?
No, the yarn would still be at the wrong end of the row every time. There is no turning your work in this tunisian pattern
@@kathyd7506I think if you use 2 ball of one color and 2 of the other color it might work. I’ll be working on this in a few weeks 🙃I’m mentally preparing myself first 😂while I finish some other WIPs
@@aqin713I still don’t think that would work because the colored one only goes one way and the white only goes one way past the initial rows.
Music is way too annoying. Can’t hear you.
I will keep that in mind for the next video thanks!
