Unfortunately you just have to unravel it and do it over until it's correct. I probably missed a stitch in the first messed up row and it snowballed after until I got it back on track.

What a beautiful piece of work! I wish I crocheted but my mind does not seem to get the crochet Idea. So I do knitting at least I got to make a knitted afghan for all my grandchildren.

I don’t understand... at the beg with the back pass, you started w going through 2 loops at the first st; then later switched to doing only 1 loop which is the traditional method w Tunisian. Can you explain plz? I understand wht the 2 for the foundation sc row, I’m talking after. Thx
The yarn over covers for the second loop that you go through with the white.

Pretty stitch ... how would you make a border for it? Where the ends have been tied on the sides is very noticeable.
Perhaps an envelope border. It's often used in tapestry / mosaic crochet to hide the ends, no need to do magic knots

I am having trouble keeping the ends of my work straight and I keep going down in count. I made a triangle 😅. Any advice?
Slow down the video and watch how I count each stich especially at the ends. Practice practice practice! Also with tunisian crochet I count every stitch every row even after 15+ years of crochet 😅

I plan to use a variegated colored yarn instead of the rainbow. Is there a way to not cut the yarn at every row?!
Unfortunately no. If you want the front forward pass colour to be different from the back return pass you have to cut. A good rule to know if you are able to do colour changes without cutting and just carrying the yarn up instead is if a pattern has an even amount of row repeats. So eg. In order to create the full stitch pattern it would need to be a 2 row repeat, 4 row repeat, etc. If it's an odd number your yarn colour won't be on at the start of the row where you need it to be. I hope that makes sense. In tunisian crochet the forward and return pass count separately for "row repeats" in terms of colour changes. So your yarn colour would have to be carried through both the forward and return pass of the row to allow for a colour change without cutting. Hope this helps!

No, the yarn would still be at the wrong end of the row every time. There is no turning your work in this tunisian pattern
@@kathyd7506I think if you use 2 ball of one color and 2 of the other color it might work. I’ll be working on this in a few weeks 🙃I’m mentally preparing myself first 😂while I finish some other WIPs
@@aqin713I still don’t think that would work because the colored one only goes one way and the white only goes one way past the initial rows.

this is a super helpful tutorial! you explain and show everything so well, I've struggled with getting this stitch to behave and none of the other tutorials told me to be mindful of where the x:es should end up which I bet has been part of my issue. your explanations are also so thoughtful, it really helps to understand the process!
