    My dad makes these has a bunch for storage we use it for laab

    Is it suppose to smell like burnt ashes or fragrant powdery smell?

      Mine smells like one of those dry rice cakes, but more nutty. I would not describe the smell or taste as burnt. When I cook mine I aim to get a golden brown. If I do have a few burnt pieces, I'll pick them out. If I burn all the rice, I throw it away and start over.

      @@CookingWithKhonKhao thanks. I bought a small pack from the market and they smell very burnt, maybe it's better to make them myself
