As a woman, it’s definitely just not an issue with men hating women. The main use of twitch is for streaming games, not for jingling your bells for the holiday season. Just take it to another site, it shouldn’t be this big of an issue.

The hilarious thing is, and dont misunderstand. I have IMMENSE respect for women that go on twitch and carve out their place. Kaypea, Gingerlily, Hodsy, Hafu, etc. They didnt need to cheat the system to get where they are and bank on an audience of thirsty men. They actually used the platform for its INTENDED usage. They made content revolved around gaming. The problem that men, myself included have, is that it was a male dominated space that men used to enjoy more-so than women, which is granted because gaming was a way more "male-oriented activity" Then we have this wave of women come in that are like "Hey we can show our bodies off and do softcore porn and get a TON of attention from lonely men" thus transforming a space that was made for gamers, which were primarily men, into a space that women invaded with bad intentions and try to act and play it off as if they have ZERO responsibility for it. Granted I'm not saying women couldnt enjoy the space too, it was just way more demographically male viewers and male streamers.
It's very similar to men deciding to participate in womens sports or womens spaces and coming in to dominate it, its just really disgusting and screwed up. We dont hate women, not at all, we hate that we had a nice little spot on the internet primarily dedicated to gaming content that had bad actors come in and start taking over with things that were way outside the realm of what the space was made for. And god forbid, saying something like this is incredibly frowned upon. I wouldn't give the slightest f/ck in the world if Amouranth for example was a god tier league of legends player and kept her massive following. No one would, its just the gaslighting that we're all women haters because they do stuff that is completely outside the scope of whats acceptable and what the website was built for. Doesn't help that even the own staff of the website was caught time and time again also participating in said activities and creating special treatment for said women. It's really frustrating.
Sorry for the rant, just wanted to try and be clear with how I feel about it.
As a 15 year old I do not want to see a naked woman when Im trying to see a streamer play danganronpa. I do not want to see *THE NAKED BODY OF ANY ADULT PERSON.* Last time I remember, if an adult exposes themselves to a child its illegal. The real question is if the category is 18+ or not. If it’s 18+, I can understand it, especially if it makes you confirm your age. If it’s unrestricted, it’s somehow worse than doing nothing about them.

A parent can *try* to file a lawsuit because their kid entered a nsfw website but if they needed to actively continue, it would become a parenting issue because the site made the necessary effort to avoid it. What Twitch did is objectively worse than no change, implied breast shaking, and chatting streams in a bikini because it objectively opens up adult content to minors, and holds Twitch liable if a parent decides to press charges, as the streamer would be following ToS.
Let’s forget the kids, I DON’T WANNA SEE IT. There’s plenty of live streaming websites more suited for that content. I don’t want to open my twitch and be nearly flashed.
this is something that annoys me so much. im a 15 year old who uses twitch regularly and i really hate seeing stuff like this pop up. also the problem extends far beyond twitch to. every mobile game ad or popup or anything is usually something similar not full nudity but coming as close as possible without breaking rules i hate it. i can be watching a completely normal yt video and have an ad pop up for a mobile game with a girl moaning or whatever and then also theres stuff that shows below the videos title too on the app. you might say “you only get shown that stuff because you look for it” but no i dont and im sick of seeing it everywhere

i totally agree with the ads thing. I am an adult female not looking into any kind of this stuff. Even more so i'd say i am borderline ace so i dont care to see stuff like this, its gross. It goes so far that i skip large parts of netflix series, i dont want to see the spicy parts, i'm here for the story... But whenever i dont have a working adblock i get these horrible mobile game adds with cartoony characters and their enlarged bouncy bodyparts with all kinds of fluids added in for extra spice. 2. Twitch has no way to check your age nor does it have any kind of age check at all.
Twitch "warns" you, about a "[channel/]broadcaster that [is] intended for mature audiences", but it does nothing to prevent you from watching them.
(All you have to do is press "Start Watching")
The very least they should do, is implement a proper age verification.
But then again, why give those people a place within twitch anyway? There are hundrets of 118+ cam websites, there's no need to bring them to twitch.

As a male teenager, I would rather not have porn on my home page when trying to watch people play games. It also makes me uncomfortable to see grown-ass women trying to basically hit on people the same age as me, older and younger. (I'm not 18, and I've been using it since I was about 10, so I agree with this guy.) This shit needs fixing.

Twitch even clamped down on people calling others simps. Not because they care about bullying, but because shaming someone for dumping their entire savings on a Twitch stream could lead to them having second thoughts about it, and that's not profitable for Twitch.
That is incredibly predatory behavior. Reverse the gender and there would be an outrage, jail time, arrests, etc. It's "allowed" and not seen as a huge issue because it's implied expectations.

Agreed! I am a 14 year old, and I have Reddit. I occasionally go though Reddit when very bored, and never I have ever seen anything NSFW. The age restriction is pretty good. Though, I am not even allowed to have twitch, because it isn’t appropriate for me. Insane that a website made for teenagers is worse than a sight not meant for teenagers.

The thing is she is on those adult sites and on one of them she has over 800k subscribers so she already has a huge enough following to where she doesn't need to go on Twitch to get more people to join. I decided out of curiosity to see what would happen when I, a video game watcher, looked at my recommended. Every single video was a woman who wasn’t wearing visible clothes.
I have NEVER watched content like that and I am underage. Finding inappropriate content as a minor unintentionally should not happen on an app that I can legally be on. This has also always been the case since I got the app.

It's also worth noting another reason people are upset is because twitch is very inconsistant with their policies. Twitch banned a girl who had sex on stream for week, and even then they let her off early I believe. While there was a girl who drew risqué (yet all nsfw bits covered) artwork who got banned for longer because of her art, while there are/were fully nude bodies allowed on the platform for body painting. XQC got banned because a SINGLE FRAME of a meme he showed had an uncensored still of something nsfw. A lot of people are upset at how twitch seems to only punish who they want to, not who they should.

The reason the camgirls are going on Twitch and doing this is because they are making far more money on Twitch doing this than on the camgirl sites. Tumblr and deviantart definitely weren't intended to be explicit. Tumblr was just online journaling. Deviantart was basically like Instagram for artwork ONLY, back when I was in highschool in the early 2000s. Idk for sure about only fans but I've heard that too, it was just meant to be like patreon I think.

At this point you can't really go on anything like tik tok, twitch, instagram etc without seeing a lot of nsfw content/content that heavily suggests it. I am an asexual person, so I find 0 interest in sexual content, I don't actively go searching for it...but I have to continuously block and set accounts to 'not interested' because no matter what sexual content is forced onto my feed. It got so annoying I started blocking twitch accounts, and I STILL get recommended a lot of suggestive streams.

I understand wanting to support people who celebrate their bodies. But why can't it be done in more appropriate places? As a woman, I stopped streaming because I would get comments about how I wouldn't get viewers if I didn't "show off more". Obviously these were false and I could've continued with the right personality, but I didn't want to feel like I should be comparing myself to other women, especially other women's bodies or decision to show them off. As mentally strong as I would like to be, I don't think anyone should be told that their only way to success is showing off their body to strangers (or potentially children). It’s manipulation. The other sites probably don’t have as many 13+ browsing the sites as 18+ would be. A 13 year old is more likely to donate quicker or pay for something other than seeing it for FREE, than a 18 year old would. In theory of course. These women find it much easier to get away with it here than on other sites intended for the real deal stuff.

Ofc children could still enter this stuff, just like they could theoretically enter any other porn website, but it wouldn't be on the frontpage and these channels wouldn't be recommended to you unless you specifically ask for that.
