Story 3: So I'm not saying that dad shouldn't be able to go on holiday, mom also seems very controlling etc. But it seems like from the custody plan, that the mom didn’t get to make as many fun memories with Tilly as dad did. This does sound like the core issue in the story. She got all the school days and dad gets to "spice up the weekend". She was probably the parent that had to do all the discipline and tough conversations, where as dad got to sail in on the weekend and just have fun and shower her with gifts. This is why the courts normally don't have one parent getting all weekends and the other doing all the "maintenance" days. Both parents should be able to have fun with their kid and you should end up with one parent being the default favourite becase the other doesn't get to make those memories. It was good that the parents did seem to try and work together to raise their daughter though.
there is one thing you conveniently ignore...................she was angry because OP wanted to take his daughter on a european trip because she was afraid of losing her daughter BUTTTT she didnt have any fear of the risk of alienating and losing her husband when she left him home alone while she went on vacation with her ex-husband and daughter. funny how she had no fear or care of that.......
Custody is MODIFIABLE!! There is no reason to have the same custody schedule for a school-age child as a teenager. It should’ve been changed at least a few times before now. Custody Orders are not written in stone. The Ex CHOSE to be a SAHM, even after the divorce, and chose to keep the same custody schedule for a decade. Those were her choices. And before anybody goes there, I’m a woman.
Final story: it’s been a week since the first post. He’s managed to have his ex over to sort things out. And they’ve already gone on the trip, including having the ex join them for some of it. Because round trip tickets to Europe, during the summer, are not at all difficult to get on a couple days’ notice.
I keep wondering about the minecraft video, my head canon is that they are made in psudo slave labor in a warehouse in China and sold online to robot-reddit reader stories.
Just sayin... mil has no right acting the way she is, but it's hard to feel bad for op when it was her own actions of openly trashing mil to her daughter at a party that she was attending, that opened the floodgates that led mil to treating op worse than before. I mean what did she really expect to happen. And for op to resent and get pissed at her husband for not choosing a side, I'd consider that manipulative. Considering he seemed have had her back throughout the entire relationship, but now that op is in the wrong because she doesn't know how to handle her wine and got mil all fired up again, somehow he is all of a sudden a terrible partner. Op is 100% in the wrong for thinking her husband should pander to her bad behavior instead of letting her deal with the consequences of her actions, just like he did with his mother when she was acting out
