I have just switched over to Jersey and Guernsey milk, I love the super creamy taste. There are still mixed messages regarding the consumption of dairy milks and as I am very tolerant of just about any food out there, I am still putting milk in my golden milk (turmeric tea), regular black or red tea and coffee. I may have to start measuring my milk "allowance" out every day to make sure I am not overdoing it. To be fair there are far worse things that entered my diet and I am taking notes and rooting out all offending ingredients as I learn more. Thanks so much for this channel.
Though A2 milk is good, the A2 milk company in the US is not. The product is not organic, it is ultra homogenized (this is very bad for you) and ultra pasteurized for long shelf life. They give very cagey responses when asked about these things. I would much rather drink local organic milk from dairies that have majority A2 cows.
What about Raw milk? My sister has Jersery, Holstien, Herford and Dextor Cows. (Herford to breed the dairy cows with so when steers are born, they grow up to go to "freezer camp" aka: we eat them)The milk we get from them is NOT pasteurized. We make cheeses and yogurt from the milk also. The milk we drink is whole cream milk. We do separate the cream some times, but that milk is than used to make soap and not drank. I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on Raw Milk vs Pasteurized milk?
I think that you are great, Dr. Berg! I am honestly not 100% sold on your views about keto (I have actually tried the diet and it did not feel a good fit for me), BUT.. I thoroughly enjoy all the information you share and how well-documented it is. Thank you for your work!
Any breed of cow can have A2A2 milk . They need to be tested to know for sure . Natural Way Cheese House in Clare Michigan makes nongmo A2A2 Cheese in several varieties.
A2 milk is based on genetics, not geolocation. A2 was first marketed and sold in New Zealand, when they discovered the genetics and found it could be given to children who were allergic to milk.
Wrong. Since ancient times the cows were A2. In the times of the industrial revolution when there was a larger demand for milk, breeders bred cows to produce offspring that produced more amount of milk with larger udders. This made the A1 form more widespread.
Jersey cows are somewhere near 60% however, many are practicing selective breeding to eliminate the A1 gene. Holstein cow milk (where most of all US milk come from) are the largest source of A1 milk. Many heritage milk cow such as Guernsey, Short Horn, etc., and buffalo and bison are also A2.
I'm seeing Internet articles that say that consuming A2 milk leads to insulin resistance and type 1 diabetes. Has Dr. Berg had his say on this subject?
The New Zealand dairy industry is both grass fed and has a sector focus on moving to A2 genetics. Keith Woodford who wrote the book on A2 beta-casein benefits (Devil in the Milk: Illness, Health and Politics) reports that from 2024 born calves, over 85% will be the A2 variant. A2 milk is used exclusively, in New Zealand, in infant formulas. I have a copy of Keith's book and it gives a deep biochemical insight into why A1 beta-casein is so bad.
AWESOME INFO!! EVERY LITTLE BIT OF YOUR INFORMATION HELPS TO GUIDE US IN, OUT AND AROUND THE TROUBLE SPOTS IN OUR DIETS. SO IMPORTANT TO AVOID THE PITFALLS IN ORDER TO MAKE BETTER PROGRESS.
If you’re gonna do dairy, check with the seller/farmer. Any reliable source is going to have had the cow producing the milk genetically tested. It should be A2A2. To go one step further A2A2B1.
Some days I do this, too! When I'm hungry, I eat. It's such an easy plan for finally looking at food as FUEL, so if I'm not even hungry for ONE meal, I look for nutrients and eat that... to fuel my body. Who knew? Always thought food was a social and emotional tool until keto. Ha.
I had testing done to find food allergies. My test results showed I have difficulties with the casein. Thank you for getting back with me with your reply.

Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge. I find that you do it in a very clear and helpful way. Here where I live in southern France, we are able to get goat’s cheese locally. I remember you saying there was something that was particularly useful in goat cheese when on a keto diet. What Is in goats cheese that is good for our health? PS, would you like me to translate and create voice-overs of your videos into French?
Ahhh! Cascadia Creamery! From Trout Lake, WA! It's a stunning place to visit, but most of WA is... we also have some fantastic creameries in Lynden, WA, if you can get ahold of any of their products. Super Yum, for those who can tolerate dairy.
Why do you recommend to not drink milk? All the other milks out there have emulsifiers and create bloating too. The ones that don't have it aren't fortified with anything and are super expensive.
I haven't been able to eat cheese for forty years. It would be nice to find out this might be the cause. I've been able to consume pure cream and butter but not milk. I've never tried A2 but I'm about to now.
Thanks Dr. Berg. I saw the commercial on TV and did not know what they were talking about. I was buying organic grass fed milk at $5.50 a half gallon; the milk tasted better. I will try A2 Milk now and look for those cheeses. I rarely eat dairy and use coconut milk as a substitute. Do they have A2 Butter? I buy Irish butter at the moment.
Great Explanation!!! I have been in integrative health for decades and DID not know about the A1 Versus the A2 - "we" have known from the seventies that pasteurization binds up most that is good in all types of milk products - many who cannot take milk can often find they do well on raw, grass fed cow, goat and sheep milk - and raw cheeses. Another great video, Dr. Berg!

Thank you Dr. Berg you answered my question! I want to tell you my son and I have been on keto and IF since February 2018, 6 months already, we fill great! My son has lost about 45 pounds, he is 14 y/o. We started doing 2 meals and now OMAD and rarely 2 meals. He was loosing weight but was always carting a belly so about 2 months ago he cut casein, just doing goat cheese and he started to shrink! We also cut lectins. We started to try this after researching about milk and lectins and I connected the dots knowing that I never breastfed him but fed him with barley and milk formula. So since he is 4y/o. He had petit mal. To me make a lot of sense, his condition also his keratosis p. Shows something is bugging his gut. We have achieved so much and I think we are going to make it. We love our life style, love keto and IF. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, that is greatness. Best for you and family. And I will let you know when my son gets totally clean, healthy and beautiful gut.
Good info. Been wanting to try this dairy that sells A2. Could you do a video on extended fasting and what can be expected as the fast progresses from a three day to a five day to a seven day and up to a ten day fast. Such as autophagy, growth hormone and also angiogenisis concerning the type of health benefits that can happen to the body at those times. Thank you.
I tried A2 Milk tonight and it seemed really sweet compared to some other bio organic milk with cream. I wandered if cows fed on wheat or grain have a higher sugar content due to the corbohydrates being digested in the cows gut? I haven't seeked out A2 milk thats organic yet so not sure about this! Its so sweet it put me off a bit. It says on the label its homogenised and pasteurized and has emzines in it and otherwise just normal milk.
Thanks for that explanation. Can you explain what those additives to milk/whipping cream are? I know that carageenan is very inflammatory, but what is Glellan gum and disodium phosphate? Are they not good to consume? GOT to have cream in my coffee! I can only find one expensive organic brand that has none of these. But maybe they are not so bad? Thanks again for ALL the incredible advice you post for FREE here on UA-cam!
Cathy T the organic one I buy is just heavy cream and gellan gum. Gellan gum is a water-soluble anionic polysaccharide produced by the bacterium Sphingomonas elodea. I'm not sure if that's REALLY bad or not, (it's used as a thickening agent) but the whipping cream I buy is the best one I've found. Every other kind is filled with junk...So I go with Horizon Organic. I've read that gellan gum can alter the bacteria of the gut, but that's probably in large amounts. Gellan gum is used in tiny amounts, and therefore it's probably hard to consume enough to be a problem. But if you notice intestinal issues, you might be sensitive to it.
Dexter Morgan incorrect...many whipping creams have additives like carageenan and polysorbate 80. It's hard to find whipping cream with only cream as the one ingredient.
Hold up! Not all Jersey cows produce A2A2- it’s about a 50/50 chance if I recall right. They must be tested. There is no cow that I know of that can be said to be an excessively A2 producing breed. I’ve been helping a friend with her cows for a few years and we always test. I’ve worked with Jersey, Guernsey, Ayrshire,Normandy and Brown Swiss cows. Any of those breeds has potential to test A2A2 but they also have potential to test A1A1 or A1A2. It’s only known through a test that is not very expensive and is a matter of plucking some tail hairs and sending them in. Jersey and Guernsey breeds have my favorite milk- rich, creamy and dreamy. Guernsey cows often have a yellow tint to their milk because they don’t absorb beta carotene and therefore put it into their milk.
Correction- I looked it up and read in the article, “Value-Added Cow Genetics: Taking a look at A2A2” by Tamara Scully, NODPA News that now it’s estimated that “approximately 80% of Guernsey cows” are A2A2, “85%” of Jerseys and Norwegian Reds (a breed with which I am not familiar) and Brown Swiss breeds are well above 50%.”
My boyfriend did a co-op on a dairy farm where they milk only cows from the breed holstien and over half the amount of milk producing cows produced A2 protein milk and the cows were DNA tested and indeed over half the cows were A2 protein and had 0% Jersey blood.

I’m live in Ohio. I have access to A1 Raw Milk not to far from where I live. The A2/A2 Raw Milk is just too far from where I’m at. But I’m a have to figure out a way of getting my hands on some A2/A2. I’m a look into the place you suggested. Thanks. 👍🥛
My family and I get acne when we consume dairy. I wonder if A2 would be different?
A1 is the reason why major people in west are lactose intolerant and the milk must be processed or cow Injected with hormones
ew
I got cystic acne whenever I consumed dairy. A2 dairy, goat, sheep, water buffalo cause zero acne for me. It might be worth a try.
When I drink raw unpasteurized grass fed milk I get no acne but anything else I do. It’s just the crap they put in there
@@gains4alex769 where do you get that kind of milk? I can’t find it anywhere.
Just keep in mind...if you consume goats milk and or cheese frequently it cause folate deficiency (B9)
Thanks so much for this channel.
im loving goat milk, kefir and yogurt!
We have A2 uht milk here in Thailand (about 500 milking caws from Guernsey).
My mother in law drinks regular milk everyday with her banana. She’s 92.
Awesome videos!! I've been learning a lot of health and nutrition.
I have a copy of Keith's book and it gives a deep biochemical insight into why A1 beta-casein is so bad.
cows from bos indicus provide A2 milk, in the US, NORMANDE is one breed that produces A2 milk , Jersey cows produce A1 milk
I think lol I have never heard this before! Thanks Dr. Berg
Came here for the "mmmmOKaaay" I wasn't disappointed 7 in 2 mins. Thanks Doc
Keto is amazing I don’t feel hungry...one glass of water with Apple cider vinegar and coconut oil am good till 4pm amazing and that’s it
you need to eat more or you will crash and get severe metabolic damage in 6 months from now
Some days I do this, too! When I'm hungry, I eat. It's such an easy plan for finally looking at food as FUEL, so if I'm not even hungry for ONE meal, I look for nutrients and eat that... to fuel my body. Who knew? Always thought food was a social and emotional tool until keto. Ha.
Wow your body running like Perpetual motion device!
@@zestrus11 - that's the way our ancestors ate...IF they got to eat a meal every day. Necessity of eating 3 meals a day is poppycock.
Very good information, but is this milk better than organic Lactose Free milk? Both A2 and Lactose Free milk are good for digestion.
Only the indigenous cow breeds of India produce A2 milk which is much more nutritious.
Ashwin Thapa Guernsey cows from the English isle of Guernsey produce A2 milk.
I had testing done to find food allergies. My test results showed I have difficulties with the casein. Thank you for getting back with me with your reply.
The African cow also do that see the cow in youtube
I thought Jersey milk was A2 but reading the comment section i'm a bit confused. I search in google and i've found jersey milk was A2. For those who claim that's false , do you have any links ?? And is goat and sheep milk a2 only ? I used to buy raw milk from jersey cow because i thought it was a2 milk .... (I live in France.) Thank you.
@@Alicia-ei8fk nope jersey cow produce a1 milk...
Why don't you recommend consuming milk?
You wrote down “raw” but didn’t emphasis it in the discussion. Is raw milk better and is it safe?
TY, I DO FEEL BETTER with A2 milk & I’ll be getting A2 cheese, I like cheese.
My English is not good. Please can you just say milk is good or you just say milk is bad. Thank you you have helped me so much
Hello... could you give us your thoughts on Feta cheese in conjunction with keto?
dragonxx444 delicious 😊
Lil mee yeah i eat it every day here in Greece.... its about 40% fat in general and only made from sheep/goat milk. They have very strict guidelines on how its made so it can be called Feta Cheese
PS, would you like me to translate and create voice-overs of your videos into French?
what about consuming 75% A2 and 25% A1 milk or kefir?
Ahhh! Cascadia Creamery! From Trout Lake, WA! It's a stunning place to visit, but most of WA is... we also have some fantastic creameries in Lynden, WA, if you can get ahold of any of their products. Super Yum, for those who can tolerate dairy.
I like Cascadian Farms organic granola; thanks for the tip on the Creamery.
Then again if you start consuming milk from the right protein then you will not have digestive issues
Everyone could tolerate dairy if they'd just ban those milk factory Holsteins.
That’s why I buy my ice cream from Brums , because they use a2 milk
I was no about A1 n A2 milk now i came to clearly.. Thank you dr berg
There is another company I know just like that one which is Snowville Creamery.
Which company is it? I’m in Ohio as well.
can you make a video explaining how long to wait between eating fats & proteins and carbs, and also mentioning which ones to start with first? Thanks.
Why do you recommend to not drink milk?
All the other milks out there have emulsifiers and create bloating too.
The ones that don't have it aren't fortified with anything and are super expensive.
Love most Dr. Berg videos..... this one included
I appreciate that and thanks for following!

What do you think of using A2 milk to make Kefir?
A2 is from indigenous cows and a1 is from jersey. I think you will have to correct this. Or am i wrong?
Great Explanation!!! I have been in integrative health for decades and DID not know about the A1 Versus the A2 - "we" have known from the seventies that pasteurization binds up most that is good in all types of milk products - many who cannot take milk can often find they do well on raw, grass fed cow, goat and sheep milk - and raw cheeses. Another great video, Dr. Berg!
A1 milk is of Jersey cows !!
A2 milk is of the Indian cows !
Dr. Berg, correct this please ...
@@Alicia-ei8fk its a2
a2 cows are only availabe in jndia ... and its freaking healthy... a1 milk is nothing but poison.. unless its done in a organic
@@Tackledboss your statement is false
They, however, exclude the Jersey cow, which science says produces A2 milk, from their list of good milk.
I just wanted to learn about Yorha A2
Thank you Dr.
Thank you.
I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MORE ABOUT COLOSTRUM BENEFITS AND HOW YOU CAN GET MORE EFFECTIVE COLOSTRUM FROM ORGANIC MILK OR ANY WHOLE MILK?
I tried A2 Milk tonight and it seemed really sweet compared to some other bio organic milk with cream. I wandered if cows fed on wheat or grain have a higher sugar content due to the corbohydrates being digested in the cows gut? I haven't seeked out A2 milk thats organic yet so not sure about this! Its so sweet it put me off a bit. It says on the label its homogenised and pasteurized and has emzines in it and otherwise just normal milk.
I thank you for explaining I didn't know what it meant I learned from a group on gastroparesis thank you so much that helps me out a lot
Thanks a million for your message and lesson..
You're welcome!
How is the distinction made between A1 and A2 and A2 derived for use? Are cows bred for A2.
Thank you
Dear Dr. Berg, If I have no access to goat milk, is pure goat milk powder good for consumption 4-5 days a week? Vs. Regular fresh cow's milk? Thanks!!
Wow didnt know milk had A1 and A2 specification !
@Dexter Morgan. Don't think this is true, at least for me and others I know. I looked up carageenan, which is in many milks. It is very inflammatory.
Dexter Morgan incorrect...many whipping creams have additives like carageenan and polysorbate 80. It's hard to find whipping cream with only cream as the one ingredient.
how about milk powder?
I very much enjoy your videos. They are very informative and easy to understand.
I think this is worth trying out.
Hello, Dr Berg. Your views on UHT milk vs fresh milk. I know you aren't a big dairy milk fan...
My boyfriend did a co-op on a dairy farm where they milk only cows from the breed holstien and over half the amount of milk producing cows produced A2 protein milk and the cows were DNA tested and indeed over half the cows were A2 protein and had 0% Jersey blood.
Which breed those A2 cows belongs ?
Dr.Eric Berg sir kindly tell me how I cure insulin resistance my fasting sugar level is over 125 and random level is under 180
Dr Berg had lots of videos on this 😊
Waqas Tahir thanks brother
Cissy Stanford thanks
Keto doesn’t work for everyone. Ive fasted for 22 days and my BG was still over 120. Get tested at Viome, you may have other needs not being met by keto. Your gut bacteria have needs
Also, make sure to get a high quality vitamin mineral supplement such as Dr Wallach's..
Do you recommend A2 homemade kefir milk? Better to avoid or drink it?
people need to understand that dairy in North American does not represent the entire dairy products world wide,,,very important to understand,,,,I consume milk has ethnic somali man we are raised on camel milk in horn of Africa and its very healthy and good for bone growth since we are so tall we get all our proteins from camel milk
What is better A2 Milk or Almond Milk?
Great info Doc - what are your comments on raw milk
Excellent information. Thanks
Dr Berg is awesome ☺THANK YOU!!!
why do you not like A2 milk thanks for the cheese infro
Waiting for my 2 Jersey cows to calf!! Yum fresh raw Jersey milk.
New Jersey has cow farms?
Homeschool Mama of 11 disgusting, not your mom, not your milk. 😉
Dr Berg, Can you please advise what type of milk will be good to give my 1 year old? Since, you don't advise drinking cows milk. I'm still breastfeeding her, but soon I will stop. I'm currently living in México and I recently found organic milk that supposedly is from grassfed cows. I'm not sure if that makes a difference? I hope you can answer my questions. Thank you
Hi hi Dr Berg ! Do you recommend herb and spice in keto cooking such as garlic ginger chillies?
The desi(country' own breed) cows of India gives the healthiest milk in the world. THANK YOU 🙏
