I volunteer work at a small dairy farm in western Massachusetts a few days a week. The cows are 100% fed on natural pasture grass and hay. I drink the raw milk (not heated, not pasteurized, not homogenized, no hormones, no pesticides, most likely occasional antibiotics when necessary, but not on a regular basis ) which is only about 2-3 hours out of the cow (and chilled naturally) . . . ALL THE TIME. I'm 65 and in good shape (BP is good, heart rate is good, blood glucose is good, I take ZERO Rx drugs (not even aspirin or Advil)).

What happens to the dairy cow’s calf? If it’s a female, they become a dairy cow. Male, killed for veal at a very young age. Dairy cows are forced to have calves every year and after about 6 years, they are killed to be cheap hamburger meat. So, even if you don’t believe the truth about how bad milk is for humans to eat, there is the ethical side to the business to consider.

When I was a kid in the 4th grade in 64/65, my Dad was working at Mount Sini hospital. He kept track of all the research they were doing at the hospital. They were doing a study on milk, and they found it was not good for you. I over heard my Dad talking to my Mom about the study. Well my teacher called my Dad to complain, cause I was going around telling the kids in my class not to drink milk. Because of my Colon and digestive issues, I can't eat dairy. I can't even eat vegan ice cream. I switched to goat cheese instead of cows milk cheese, because the goat and sheep milk has Casin A2. Where as cows milk had Casin A1, which is bad for you. I do eat grass fed butter the KerryGold. My Dad did all the cooking when we were kids, cause of my Moms health issues. Being a medical professional Analytical chemist doing research in Cancers and TB, he fed us healthy. I wish I could find some goat milk at the supermarket. I've tried the almond milk, oat milk, but, don't really like it in my afternoon cups of tea. So yes I do do a little bit of milk in my morning and afternoon tea. Rest of my tea is plain with no sugar or milk. I drink lots of green tea. If you have a chance to go to NYC, go to Harney & Sons on Broome street in Soho. They have over 400 different teas. I get allot of their Japanese Green teas. You get one free tea tasting, and they always have two pots of tea of the day on tap to try for free. That's why I like Dr. Hyman cause he reminds me of my Dad. What about Tofu, Dr Hyman, isn't it made from Soy? Cause I was told soy is not good for the colon and digestion, stomach.

The human race is the worst off as it has ever been at any time in history thanks to Modern medicine. In the last 50-60 years it killed more people than any war or epidemic and is the leading cause of death in the US. Doctors today are paid prescription fillers and will never cure or heal anyone. @@cherylelinsmith743 there's a site called real milk that might point you in the right direction. See if you can source it raw....pasteurization reduces the nutrients (vitamins/minerals), destroys enzymes, denatures whey protein and damages immunoglobulins. Sounds like you should go full carnivore if you want to heal your gut and colon. All grains and anything with gluten will cause inflammation and lead to leaky gut...some people are more sensitive than others, but everyone is effected to a degree.

I can't agree with Dr Hyman on this one! I'm more in agreement with Chris Kresser, that as long as you personally tolerate dairy well it's a great source of nutrition.
I've heard a lot of what Dr Hyman is saying convincingly debunked a long time ago. I think the main issue with dairy is potential allergy or intolerance. It's worth experimenting to see if this is an issue for you, but if it's not, then full fat dairy (including fermented dairy products) can certainly be part of a healthy diet.

At an old age, I have always drunk milk, generally homogenized, which is pasteurized only shaken to mix the cream. I drink it because it tastes good and calms my stomach, unlike any other drink such as sodas, juices, and faucet water. My dairy friend says they don't use any added progrowth supplements or other hormones. Eliminating milk means the drinker is limited mostly to high sugar juice or sodas. Most faucet water I won't drink.

There’s also a lot of opposing evidence that the body struggles to break down diary and as a result releases calcium from the bones as a result of the stress. Opposing research indicates there is a correlation between diary consumption and osteoarthritis. Which is a contradiction to the diary industries suggestion that diary strengthens our bones. Just good to read all kinds of research and question companies that are making lots of money from the idea a product is healthy and has mass consumption.

Unfortunately I survived a 8.5m fall in 2012 (I say “unfortunately”, because the “journey” was rough-still is, to say the least). Many broken bones, 37 operations and 11.5 years later here I am.
So, I thought I needed heaps of full cream milk to heal and strengthen my bones.
I would drink 2L per day.
Of course 4.5 months ago my metabolic diseases hit a high. 154kg and I was considering suicide again.
So I did something desperate after much research…go Carnivore (however, more like Lion/Carnivore). Now I’m 115.1kg, much healthier no metabolic issues, no meds however I do only take Omega 3 and Apple cider Vinegar.
I was SO ADDICTED to milk.
    Life is better again.

The title is a clickbait that seems to condemn "dairy". Turns out the problem is not diary, but low-fat milk, sweetened yoghurt. Butter is substantially OK, cheese is substantially OK, goat is better, grass-fed is important, non-pregnant cow appears to be fundamental. So the title should have been: don't drink low-fat milk of cows that are raised with mash only and don't drink milk of cows that are milked when they are pregnant.
In nature, lions don't ask antelopes if they are pregnant or if they feed a child before eating them. All animals naturally produce hormones, that's part of the food. Those hormones are metabolized (digested) by the intestinal flora and by the liver, you don't have hormones in your body circulating for long. That's true for cows and sheep, just as is true for fish. We also eat vegetable hormones (fitohormones?) with vegetables. Your own produced hormones and growth factors are WAY more than the one you eat with food. Eat the forest and stop being obsessed with the single leaves.

The only dairy that I can tolerate is goat, sheep and water buffalo milk, and in small to moderate amounts. And mostly as cheese and yogurt. Cow milk kefir and yogurt are fine, I have no issues with it, as long as it is in moderation. Its best raw from a reputable family dairy Same with some butter. Just in very small amounts, a few times per week.
But no way could deal with drinking a glass , and certainly not three glasses of mass producced milk, especially low fat or fat free milk.
My cholesterol, blood glucose, triglycerides, A1c, and liver enzymes all stay at healthy levels when I limit or cut out mass produced dairy and all refined grains and sugars.
I find it's easier to get calcium and other minerals for bone health from fatty fish like canned salmon and sardines with the bones, ( they are natural sources of Vitamin D3 as well) seaweeds, tofu, natto , green leafy plants especially wild harvested wild plants like wild mustard, wild mallow, Lambs Quarters, bone broth made from beef , fish or poultry bones, and all are great sources of collagen, with is especially good for bone health, seeds such as pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, nuts, small game birds like quail and doves with the bones.
Whole quail eggs can be eaten shell and all, and are an excellent source of calcium, essential fatty acids, and top quality protein. Silica is also essential for bone , skin and hair health and probably the best source is an herb known as horsetail, it can be made into a tea or herbal vinegar.

There are good subs for milk, sour cream, and even cream cheese......Kroger Simple Truth brand makes a fantastic sourcream substitute. I like it better actually. Its made with beans, I believe, and it's a great topping for soups or stews, beans, etc.

that fake substitute processed garbage is more of a downfall than raw grass fed cheese and butter. A Mark Twain quote comes to mind, but I don't like calling fools out...

Raw grass fed unpasturized dairy in small amounts does it for me.Raw milk is beneficial. In South Africa our milk is Bovine hormone free and it was outlawed. Getting vitamin K2 is also imporatnt

Cow's milk is the breast milk of another species full of growth hormones designed for rapid growth including weight gain by nature for a cow baby!

If you listen long enough everything is bad for you according to the experts. We get our A2 A2 raw milk from a small dairy close to us. There is a big, big difference from store bought processed milk.
