I have to be honest, I have a 33 month (2 years 9 month) old toddler who sleeps with me and night nurses. And, tries to nurse throughout the day. I wanted to nurse until he wanted to stop but Neeno has shown no sign of letting up. I am tired, I want to have my bed back and being a single mom with 3 kids, I need a thorough nights sleep....any mom does! I am going crazy, at times, and so damn glad that I found you and this video. I am going to try it, actually do it, not try it. I know it will be hard, as Neeno actually likes to smell my chest and will lay down for 'num num' , but it is TIME. Thank god for moms going through the same stuff!!
Yes, it's a 2 person relationship so if it stops working for 1 then it's time to make a change. Once you commit to this process, it really works, the first few nights were tough but once you pass the hump it's smooth sailing. Wishing you all of the success, keep me posted! XO
This is one of my favorite UA-cam videos. I've come back to it again and again over the last 5 years as I've weaned my 3 different children through the years. Thank you thank you thank you for this
Help pls! I am trying to wean my 15 month old and i am miserable. She just wont stop, very persistent, and will not stop crying for me when i try to leave her with someone else at night. Pls help!
@@petraanagor8759did the method work for you? My son is 11 months old and he wakes up constantly through the night? I’m exhausted and it’s taking a toll on me.
I weaned my cosleeping two year old the other week, she took it surprisingly well. We replaced the feed to sleep with a story book and cuddling to sleep, she did want to feed but I just told her there's no more, all gone etc and she was a little sad but she got used to it. Now things are swell, we replaced feeds with lots of cuddles :) It's great to see other parents that are committed to gentle parenting :)
@@MsJames2128 yeah that’s true and feeling tired is so natural. But I know for sure next year this time I’ll look back and miss this bond. I’m enjoying it anyway, except for the nights when I don’t get enough sleep.
I thought I was the only mum in this situation, but omg what a comfort to know I am not alone and there is a light at the end of this breastfeeding journey, my son is 16months old and still feeds like a young buba. This gives me some direction and lots of hope that we can ween. Thank you for this video
I literally tested up when you said every day nursing is a good day and you don’t have to feel sad about it ending. I really needed to hear that 😢 Such great tips, I’m trying this starting TONIGHT.
This video was extremely helpful.. I’m crying right now with my 1 year asleep in my arms just full of regret. Why didn’t I just sooth her differently sometimes when she was younger instead of just nursing her every time she woke up ? Just wishing I did things differently, I didn’t have someone to tell me at the time. But I’m trying now ❤ thank you
This video literally described my son. He started waking up like every hour around 18 months and I am SO tired. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
One of the best mommy advice i have ever watched I needed this now 😢 My daughter is already 2.5 years and I can't still sleep trough the night I always wake up tired and exhausted. I will try your advice and hope it will work on me.
This video is a miracle and I’m one kidding. It so happens my son is 22 months old, we’re cosleeping and still nursing to sleep and I’m in my first trimester with baby #2. I’ll give your tips a try, I need sleep 🥱
I figure the neighbours can deal with the noise for a few nights. If you're worried, and you know them, maybe just leave them a little note. But also keep in mind their cries always seem so much louder to us (the parents) than others. Surprisingly the big big cries only really lasted maybe 10-15mins, you're still there comforting and hugging and trying to distract them. It won't last forever, promise :)
I read it all! Its the best thing I've came across since beginning my research for weaning. Mine is 21months old and we also co-sleep he is not on any schedule and nurses on demand 😒 I want my body back 😢 I'm exhausted and I'm ready, he may not be, but I am. I don't like to hear him cry and the way I'm raising him is much different from my last 3 however I'm trying a gental approach as well and do not want to show frustration or anger towards the situation. Breastfeeding is a beautiful journey but I'm tired 😫. Thanks for sharing this. I thought there was no hope 😕 I have hope now 😅. I subscribed to your channel thanks for the great information
Yaaaay so happy for this video. My 21 month old is almost nursing nonstop through the night and I’m just so tired! I also haven’t started my cycle back yet and we want another baby so I think it’s time! Thank you for sharing!
Omg thank you so much! I thought I was the only one going through this struggle of waking up every hour. Definitely will be using these tips this week to wean off, I’m 15 weeks pregnant and toddler is 2.5yrs old and does not seem to be ready to wean off but I am for sure! Thank you 🙏
Ohhh my gosh! This is my exact situation. I was even feeling guilty about the frustrations I have felt bc I too have gentle parented up until this point. We’re both frustrated, and it’s difficult bc we have such a great relationship, and she’s very mature for 22 months. Thank you so so much for this!
@amandamuse My son is 15 months and nurses anywhere between 8- 15 times a night, we bed share. I also work which requires pumping sessions so his Nana can offer him a bottle for nap time while I'm at work. I'm exhausted. My husband and I are planning to start trying for baby #2 soon, before little man turns 2. I want to start weaning him at 18 months. I have been searching everywhere for tips on weaning an " attachment parented" toddler. Thank you so much for sharing this gentle approach, your success gives me hope. Xx
My daughter is 23 months old and we bedshare (I’m a single mom) She nurses to sleep every night but now I have pneumonia and have to take antibiotics so my daughter is quitting cold turkey tonight. I was bawling feeling so hopeless until I found you. Bless your soul thank you so much for this video
Great advice! I'm so glad I found you. It is really hard to find info on these things, and I have been in desperate need of help. I literally know zero people who breast fed... And bed sharing is even more alien, so I just don't talk about it with my social group. thank you for sharing your wisdom! ❤️❤️❤️ It is so reassuring.
Thanks for a very helpful video! I also weaned my 22 month old because I was halfway through my 3rd pregnancy and didn't want to tandem feed. I now want to wean my almost 16 month old who we cosleep with. Our 5yr wedding anniversary is a month away yesterday. We have a chance to be child free for a night which we haven't had since our wedding night! So i will be using these tips starting tonight. Hope it works! I hope 16 months isn't too young😩. I've loved our breastfeeding journey and the ending is bittersweet. 🥰
This exactly what I needed! I am cosleeping and still nursing my 14 mos old and she is walking me up to nurse all night. I've been looking for a something to get us to the next stage. Thank you so much!
I’m so thankful I found this video! 19 weeks pregnant with a 12 month old! I’m planning on weaning him off very soon. Does your toddler still sleep in your bed? I’m ok with him sleeping next to us, we actually put a queen and king together but I’m done waking up to nurse.
Omg, we always planned to gently wean my son from breastfeeding around the 2 year mark. Then out of nowhere, he just stopped wanting to breastfeed! It was the day after his first birthday. The sudden stop almost destroyed his mother!
Ohh my, soo happy that i found this video. I need wean our 18month old boy who wakes up 3, 4 to 5 times a night to breastfeed and he also touches or pulls my nipple while breastfeeding. It hurts!
Cannot thank you enough for sharing this! I've been feeling somewhat on my own in this process. Nobody, including my OB (I'm 17 weeks preggo with a 22month breastfeeder) has been able to give me the hope you have. I'm definitely trying this asap! 💕
Hi! I followed this schedule with my almost 14 month old and it seriously worked like a charm!! Almost faster than I wanted but I now I have fully weaned toddler who sleeps through the night in his own bed!!! Thank you so much for the tips!!
Your story is almost a lot alike to mine 18 months and is getting to the point he's been waking up almost every hour to feed. So was easier to just to cosleep with him. Definitely going to try this.
So nice to read all the comments and see everyone feeling the same in the same situation! So glad it’s such a common ‘problem’. I’m going to try this! ❤️❤️
I am so thankful for this video! My son is 18 months and I just found out we are pregnant with baby #2. My boy is the same way with nursing to sleep and waking up throughout the night. This is so encouraging !
My breastfed daughter is 18mo & I’m 6weeks pregnant. My breasts are Soo tender and I’ve been nauseous all day / night so it’s been hard recently especially at night since she’s waking up 5x to nurse back to sleep 😭 did you try this already? Has it worked ?
The only thing i tried that helped was having my husband put my son to sleep and after about 3 or 4 nights of putting him to sleep he stopped expecting the breast to fall asleep. He would go in there and console him because my son knows daddy cant feed him. Within a week he was sleeping through the night!
@@candace9009 oh dont get me wrong it was a fight for the first 2 nights but it got easier He cried about it but he wasnt left alone to deal with his feelings which is something i felt guilty about with the cry it out method
I could cry I'm so happy I found this video! Your kiddo should be like 10 by now. My son is only 23 months and we co-sleep, I night nurse, and I need to be done nursing at night, I need to survive this and teach my kiddo to sleep on his own, no blog I've found so far FEELS like me. This video makes me feel like not a total freak, and I ran into that same group of attachment parenting. So, thank you for this, it makes me survive. I've looked a little at Dr. Jay Gordon but didnt' see that link until now. I've thought the same thing as you about keeping me from the situation, my husband was in the same boat as yours! Our day starts at 5:30 AM and he's down for bed at 8:00 PM.
This lady looks rested! your skin around your eyes looks like you get good sleep!!! so thanks for the advice! here are the rest of the verses for Row Row Your Boat song :D Row, row, row your boat Gently down the stream Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily Life is but a dream Row, row, row your boat Gently up the creek If you see a little mouse Don't forget to squeak! Row, row, row your boat Gently down the stream If you see a crocodile Don't forget to scream! Row, row, row your boat Gently to the shore If you see a lion Don’t forget to roar!
I’m almost in tears watching this. Literally watching this as I’m nursing my almost 3 YEAR old toddler to sleep. He has been flailing and fussing over an hour. I’m desperate for any answers because I’ve been trying to wean for almost a year. 4 months ago, I was getting close. I managed to wean him from day feeding, then nursing to sleep, and was working on weaning from overnight feedings. But just as I was completely weaned, we ended up moving and everything was thrown off rhythm. Even his potty training. I always planned to nurse and enjoyed it very much up until Spring this year. My goal was to nurse until 2, but it’s only gotten harder to wean, my LO has gotten stronger and more demanding, and the tantrums when he can’t have milk are enough to tear the roof down. I’m so exhausted and don’t know how much more I can take. I feel like a prisoner in my own body. Praying that theses tips work because I’m at my wits end.
Oh I’m so sorry. I just read that if you plan to move that any potty training plans have to be put on hold. So I’m assuming the same about weaning. My 25 month old is always wanting the boob. Any time we’re cuddling or laying down. I’m beyond frustrated and we cosleep so it’s even harder. My now 15 year old, I quit him cold Turkey.. let him sleep with my sister one night and he was completely fine after that. Good luck and don’t get discouraged. Just begin again after you’re all settled in at your new home.
Agreed. It would just break my heart to watch her cry herself to sleep. Definitely not the easiest method, but it worked and that's what counts. Congrats on weaning!
A part of me would like to avoid co-sleeping, butttt when you're so tired sometimes the only solution to maintain sanity is to bring them in the bed. That said, if I do, I would try to get them back into their own bed sooner.
THANKS SO MUCH for making this video. My daughter is 8 months I’m not weaning her now but I want to get as much information as I can because she wakes up every hour to nurse and we cosleep. I work 35 hours a week and it’s just so hard for me so once she turns 1 I want to start the process.
I am trying to drop at least one of my five night feedings for my 7 month old. I am also trying to get her to fall asleep on her own because she can take up to 90 minutes to nurse down. This was so helpful! I love how gentle it is, probably the best I have come across! Thank you!
I am currently cosleeping and nursing my 16-month-old little girl and your story is directly on key with mine minus the second pregnancy. Thank you so much For making this video as I too could not find any solutions for our situation. My LO reaction is the same (flailing when I don't nurse her) trying this tonight!!!!
this is godsend. im trying this TONIGHT. my LO is 1 year old and i want to stop nighttime feedings. i dont mind continuing during the day but she really has trouble falling back asleep. my husband just started working overnights, so im going to take advantage and do this on my own.
So happy to have found this video as I’m literally in the same situation, I have a 19 month old who nurses all night and day 🥲 I will be trying to wean her starting this weekend following this method 🙏🏽
Thanks so much for this video, my daughter is 18 months old now and we just finished the 10 day process and it was super easy, before we started i looked for videos on how to do it and i was going crazy because i couldn't find videos with older babies that co sleep, etc... but then i found this and was more "prepared" but still nervous about what was going to happen and thankfully everything went great! she still wakes 1 or 2 times but no more breastfeeding at night and we are so happy, thanks again so much!! :)
Wonderful news! I love hearing success stories. It's so important for both parties in the relationship to be happy, and if weaning is needed I think this method is on the most gentle (and still successful) that I've found. Thank you for sharing your journey!
I am literally using this method exactly as you described. Although I am just honestly doing what works for our daughter. Today was day 4 and she didnt wake up at all which hasnt happened in months! So well see if we have a repeat tonight. Shes almost 24 months.
Glad to hv found your video. My son is turning 2yrs in 2 weeks' time and he's still breastfeeding like his life depends on it. I'm sooo ready to stop bf like yesterday. I'm exhausted especially since he wakes up several times a night to nurse. I just need my night's sleep back to be able to function productively.
I've been doing so much research, even my local lactation consultant which is offered by the council wouldn't even help me weaning. It's crazy how much support and how much of a "village" we get right at the beggining of the BF journey and when you decide to wean nothing. I cried SO MUCH when I came across this video, still weaping actually. I am definite going to give this a try. I am only 14 months in and I really need to wean him, it's not helping my mental health.
Thank you! This was heavens sent! Every article I’ve read has dad helping stop the breastfeeding but my husband works out of town and comes home every 1-2 weeks so that wasn’t going to work. My baby girl is 14 months (also co sleeping) and is still waking up throughout the night, i don’t mind breastfeeding her to sleep or for her nap but I’m tiered! I want her to sleep all night. I’ll definitely try this out and I’ll edit it and let everyone know how it went. Wish me luck!!!
This the approach we adopted with our first child (plus, I was pregnant with our second as well). The second time we got to 4 days and it was working pretty well but we had a family visit (and sleep-over) and I did not want to wake them in the middle of the night, so here we are - 14 months and she is still waking every 30 minutes to nurse. I am so done, I need to start from scratch and to this night weaning thing (again).
I know this video is a few years old but thank you. I have to thank you. not sure if you remember what its like to be sleep deprived and feel like you're stuck with someone on your boob many times a night.. I have so many aches and pains from not getting enough rest... I'm really thankful I found your video and I will try this soon. Once I get the energy and courage! Very soon!
I’m praying this helps ! My daughter is 15months old and she neverrr slept through the night. I need sleep, will be starting this journey tomorrow 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
So glad I came across your video! My daughter will be one in two months and I am ready to be finished breastfeeding. She has refused a bottle since day one so it is all me all the time. She wakes up so many times at night so as you can imagine I am exhausted. This will be the approach I try out when the time comes. Thank you for your words of wisdom and best of luck with your babies!
You are a life saver 😍😍 I have searched high and low for help. My Lactation Consultant recommends self wean but I just can't anymore it's a love hate relationship thanks. I will share your video with others
I am very glad I came across this. I know it's a bit older and I would love to know what the outcome was. My little boy just turned 2 years old! He still breastfeeds to sleep at night and during nap time. His intake during the day has decreased but he wakes up frequently to nurse. By the way, we have co slept since day one. I know it's been such a hard habit to break but now is the time to wean. I am currently pregnant and I am experiencing exhaustion, nausea and breast tenderness. I have wanted to wean a couple weeks before I found out I was pregnant but now it's getting worse because he tends to play a lot with my face and he is really rough with my breasts. I am prepared to go through this! I love that you made this video! I will try it and pray that it works because he needs to stop relying on the breast for sleep.
My son turned two last month and I'm going out of the country for a week without him in a month, hoping to have completely weaned by then, but he is such a boob addict!! SO SO SO SO hard. Praying it is possible and we both are fine! lol. Thanks for the video!!
Thank you for posting this! My daughter 2 years old and co sleeps with me and only sleeps if she is nursed to sleep. I've been trying to wean for the longest time now. But we haven't been very strict she cries when I explain to her that we need to stop nursing. It's a major challenge. But this video made me feel like there's light at the end of the tunnel lol so thank you again.
I am SO happy I found you! I’m literally 38 weeks pregnant and our weaning journey had backfired in the past two weeks 😭 and this is helpful for the last remaining weeks before this baby comes! Thank you xoxoxoxoxo
This is and was my exact situation! I fell pregnant with my daughter when my son was 18 mo, and we weaned at 21mo. He was much easier than my daughter is proving to be, and she's 20mo. I'm definitely going to be looking into and trying this because even though she's not done, *I* am done. My son will be 4 at the end of March, so I'm ready for my body and bed to be mine again!
I’m so thankful I came across this video 😩 I’m desperate!! Third child first time breastfeeding exclusively and this girl is 14 months and mama is DONE!!!! Thank you for this video!!!
Oh my God I am almost teary watching this... i am in the similar situation and with my studies going on this situation kinda stresses me out. I don't know how i landed here to watch this video but it's surely on the right time. Thanku so much Amanda. Best of luck for your future endeavours! :)
My daughter is 1, & is soo attached to me, I only breastfed, no bottles. Strictly breast! & I’ve been looking for ways to ween her off nursing. I’m so happy I watched this. I’m going to try this tomorrow!!! Thank you thank you thank you!
Just now finding this and soooooooo thankful!!!! My daughter just turned THREE and we have been cosleeping since day one and it’s so hard to wean her!!! All we have left is night time weaning and it’s driving me crazy😩😭
Omggg so scary ! 3 years 😓 I’m only 18 months in and I’m completed stressed and overwhelmed. I can’t imagine what you’re going through or hopefully since your comment was 8 months ago, what you WENT through 🙏🏾
Thank you, almost cried watching this. 14 weeks pregnant, my body is done breastfeeding at night, and my 21 month old wants to nurse so much at night. He is day-weaned except for his nap where we feed to sleep, but nights are hard. No help from breaatfeeding groups, they all say to just do it gently and ideally all babies will self-wean, but I need to stop night nursing, it's making me angry and impatient at night and I don't want to be that mom.
Great video! this is just what my sister needs to hear! her daughter is about 21 months old, and is still VERY attached to the breast. She will NOT fall asleep without it. SOMETIMES you can rock her to sleep, but a self soothe would be great. I will mention this to my sister. Thanks, girl!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Watched your vids, tried the method with our 20 months daughter and results have been astounding! Finally getting a good sleep after so long without. Brilliant, thanks again.
Im.. so thankful for my hubby. He's taken on night time sleep time, if I put her down she gets soooooo mad. He puts her down and she'll fuss a bit knowing it's bedtime but falls asleep and stays asleep until at least 6am. She's 13 months now. She does have her two favorite stuffed toys and a sippy cup of water
Thank God for this video because weaning is the hardest process EVER!!!!!! My daughter is 12 months and isn't stopping I so needed this video because she can't sleep all night if I don't nurse her back to sleep a few times throughout the night.
I have a daughter that will wake up in the middle of the night and have a "baby party" for an hour or so and not go back to sleep even with nursing sometimes. Did your daughter ever do that? And did that go away if so? Also, I still nurse her back to sleep during naps…did you have that same situation? And if so, what did you do? Thanks in advance for your help! It also looks like you did a revised version of the 1st step in Jay Gordon's plan of nursing when they wake, but not back to sleep….did you feel that would be easier to just not nurse at all?
I am going to save this video. Thank you so much for making it! We co sleep with our 15 month old and he is not yet ready to wean off. I am a working mom so i still need to pump at work while he is at the daycare. He still breastfeed from 5pm until 6am, it is more of a comfort thing. My max time to wait for him to stop on his own is at 2 y/o. If he doesn't i will definitely wean him off with this method. 🤞
Omg you’re a godsend angel ❤️ I’m struggling with my 17 month old and we co sleep you’re the only person I’ve come across who touched up on it thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I came across your video annnnnnd! Let me tell you I have a 17 month old son and I have to wean him off HAVE TO, let me tell you it's hard for me I think I'm ready and sometimes I'm not.. And my son is whatsoever not ready. So I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant and my son has been going through weight complications he is not gaining enough weight and his iron seems to go up and down and NOW his height started taking effect, so we are now going to doctor appointments to see what's really going on!! Now breastfeeding has also got him here, he would nurse and only want to nurse and food wasn't really appealing to him SO his pediatrician knows it's all behavioral that's going on...... Sooo he recommended cold turkey and it's what I'm currently doing and it's hard so hard I cry with him sometimes BUT your video has given me hope.. Thank you
This was one of the BEST informational videos on topics from breast feeding to weening your children that we have found. You should do an entire series because you can stay on topic, are well focused and have the basic need-to-know (things-that-work) approach. My husband and I just didn't find your other videos (including the diaper bag) video of much help. Our diaper bag had more crisis contents like juices, thermometer, fever/pain reveler, etc instead of makeup, nail polish, etc. We feel that you could do a really good series on parenting and children though.
Stephen Ricket Thank you. Yes, occasionally I provided a more thorough informational type of video. That said it is a lifestyle channel so there's a variety of content produced. I'm glad you found this helpful!
I hope this works. We're at our wits end we just put him in his room and let him cry and it breaks my heart but he's using me as a paci and he sometimes grind his teeth, my boob, everyone is so tired and I'm over it
@@Christ-Made unfortunately I don't believe this worked. He eventually started sleeping throughout the night. I just suffered through it. I did cut out breast feeding to only meal times and eventually at almost 2 he was over it
Omg, how have I not seen this?! I just watched your post natal depression video and saw this suggested underneath. After 20 months of breastfeeding and co sleeping me and my poor back are the end of my rope with it. My toddler is literally attached to the boob all night and I have seriously been talking about just going to stay with a friend for a couple of nights so he has to sleep without me but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it because it just doesn't feel right. I thought I would have to wean completely to ever have a hope that he would sleep without it so this sounds like a much better approach as I'm still happy to feed in the day time for a little while yet. Thank you!
The links you provided are no longer avalible! Please help! I am sooo ready to be done with my breastfeeding journey. I have been co sleeping since 6 months and she is 23 months tomorrow. So much harder than expected! Thank you for all your words of wisdom on this journey! I have read many articles and your's has been the most helpful!!! So thank you!
How did I never find this video? Ahh, Amanda! Love you for this one. I'm in the same position that you were in with Esmé... right now. This is very helpful and I can't wait to start the process that you describe with my little one-- Wish me luck.😕
I've been trying to wean my 19 months old daughter ... We nurse to sleep as We cosleeping and she is been feeling at night too... I'm soo ready to stop ... We both don't get good night sleep... I will try this method!!! Thank you soooo much for this Video!!!!! Xxxxx
Couldn’t have been a perfect timing to watch this. I just tried this technique on my 14 month old and for the first time she slept on her own on the bed right after I fed her. Thanks for this!! I have one question though. So this is how you weaned your baby for night feeds. How did you wean the day feeds?
I am so glad I found this video. Thank you so much!!! I am in a very similar situation, still breastfeeding my toddler who is 26mos now. We also co-sleep. The only difference is, I’m not pregnant. :) i am super ready to wean (I think i have been, since a few mos ago), but i’ve been having a hard time doing so and not really knowing where and how to begin. I’ve been reading articles and watching some videos, but your advice is the only one that seemed to really make sense to me and one that I can really relate to. I am so looking forward to trying your advice. I told my husband that my daughter and I will be sleeping in the other bedroom as I try to wean her. Actually she only looks for the boobies whenever she wants to sleep - so that is at bedtime (and a few times during the night), and once around noontime before she takes a nap. I have a question though. I’ve been trying to wean her from naptime feeding (to no avail as of now). When she asks for boobies, i offer her milk in her cup. But she’ll get upset and cry. If i don’t budge, it will end up with her not taking her nap at all and she’ll just get up and play. Is that okay? I mean, i’d hate for her to miss her daytime naps. But i don’t want to give in and breastfeed her just so she can fall asleep. Sometimes she’ll be cranky because she’s sleepy. Then at nighttime she’ll want to sleep early (having missed her nap), but still, not without the boobies. Can’t make her sleep any other way. I’m so over it. :(
I watched this video about 8 months ago and it helped me so much! It was a long journey to finally get my year and a half old to stop breastfeeding, but mainly due to inconsistency and constant change in environment when travelling often. The idea of cutting off feeding time during 11pm - 6 am was the BEST decision I ever made in the beginning. I allowed me to finally be able to SLEEP. Great video! I’m wishing all of my fellow mommies luck, perseverance, consistency and strength during this process! You’re almost there! ♥️
Hello Rose I was wondering if this breastfeeding method worked for you. Today will be our 2nd night weaning our 12 month old. Our 1st night was hard. I like Dr. Gordon suggests I'm grateful for finding this video.
Thankfully its working for us too. Going on our 3rd night today. Keep me updated with how u are doing. I would like the support if u don't mind. I had notice u posted around a week ago and others posted to this thread years ago. Good luck!
This is a life saver , Ive been wanting to start weaning my son but had no idea how to start and didn't want to do it cold turkey. I will def be trying this!
I’m watching and scrolling...... because this is serious my son literally is stuck on the nip and uses me as pacifier he can’t go to sleep with out being on the nipple
XO
8 yrs ago... how'd it go!!
I need to wean this baby. he's nursing like a newborn at almost 15 months!!!

This is one of my favorite UA-cam videos. I've come back to it again and again over the last 5 years as I've weaned my 3 different children through the years. Thank you thank you thank you for this
Now on baby #4, back again 😂
@@petraanagor8759congrats ❤and good luck!!! Haha
@petraanagor8759 Love this lol!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
Now things are swell, we replaced feeds with lots of cuddles :)
It's great to see other parents that are committed to gentle parenting :)
I’m going to try this tonight
@@Desiraye Best of luck, I'm just thinking back now to this precious time
This works well will girls I feel. My boy gets so mad. I’m trying but it isn’t working.
@@rohini9999 I feel you. My boy is 22 months old and still breastfeed. Tired but I always remind myself this will not last forever.
@@MsJames2128 yeah that’s true and feeling tired is so natural. But I know for sure next year this time I’ll look back and miss this bond. I’m enjoying it anyway, except for the nights when I don’t get enough sleep.
This was so helpful😭😭 I could cry!!! You think no one else is in this same boat but this gave me hope! Thank you so much!!!
But I’m trying now ❤ thank you
Dont regret,it is normal and good for her. Shel get over weaning
This video literally described my son. He started waking up like every hour around 18 months and I am SO tired. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
One of the best mommy advice i have ever watched
I needed this now 😢
My daughter is already 2.5 years and I can't still sleep trough the night
I always wake up tired and exhausted.
You’re awesome Amanda! I used your method with my oldest daughter and now I’m here rewatching again to wean my second daughter!
Omg heaven opened for me when i found you, you are amazing , i finally found someone who understands what im dealing with
+Meriem Hm I'm so glad! ☺️
Meriem Hm same.
I love how unapologetic and honest you are. I am on this path with my 16mo.Time for momma to get some sleep! So great to hear it worked in a week.
Wishing you all the best!
Thank you 🙏
6 yrs later and yet another mommy is awake at 11:30 pm exhausted, frustrated, totally over nursing my 2 1/2 year old co-sleeping angel. 🤦🏾♀️😭😭
Thank god am not the only one
Hang in there girl you’re not alone 😭
@@leshaymcneal1587 😆😆I know the feeling...😣
Am another frustrated mom
Me too!!!!!
Oh my heart, I hope you're OK. Sending lots of love! xo
I'm so glad! I have many videos on breastfeeding, best of luck on your journey.
Same here.nobody gives advice on how to put baby back to sleep when he is co-sleeping or how to wean when co-sleeping.
Currently almost 3 months pregnant struggling to wean my 3 year old. ❤
Hi! I followed this schedule with my almost 14 month old and it seriously worked like a charm!! Almost faster than I wanted but I now I have fully weaned toddler who sleeps through the night in his own bed!!! Thank you so much for the tips!!
+Asia Vasina amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciated this video! I'm in almost the same exact situation. It was so helpful thank you so much
Your story is almost a lot alike to mine 18 months and is getting to the point he's been waking up almost every hour to feed. So was easier to just to cosleep with him. Definitely going to try this.
Wishing you all the best!
Jordan Arnold I have never tried this! Is that that easy?? I feel stupid now lol. Definitely going to try this.
You're so lucky my daughter tries to fight her dad if he tries to put her to sleep 😂
@@candace9009 oh dont get me wrong it was a fight for the first 2 nights but it got easier
He cried about it but he wasnt left alone to deal with his feelings which is something i felt guilty about with the cry it out method
You’ve got this! You’re right, the little one I’m trying to wean here is now 8 and sleeps in her own room 💗
This lady looks rested! your skin around your eyes looks like you get good sleep!!! so thanks for the advice!
here are the rest of the verses for Row Row Your Boat song :D
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream
Row, row, row your boat
Gently up the creek If you see a little mouse
Don't forget to squeak!
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream If you see a crocodile
Don't forget to scream!
Row, row, row your boat
Gently to the shore
If you see a lion
Don’t forget to roar!
I'm starting this today and have so much guilt and anxiety. But he's 22 months and I'm drained. Thank you for sharing the update.
How did it go?
I'm watching this zombified half asleep lmao. Send help.
Stephanie M same🤣😭😭

I am trying to drop at least one of my five night feedings for my 7 month old. I am also trying to get her to fall asleep on her own because she can take up to 90 minutes to nurse down. This was so helpful! I love how gentle it is, probably the best I have come across! Thank you!
I am currently cosleeping and nursing my 16-month-old little girl and your story is directly on key with mine minus the second pregnancy. Thank you so much For making this video as I too could not find any solutions for our situation. My LO reaction is the same (flailing when I don't nurse her) trying this tonight!!!!
JESSICA did you get your weaned? My baby is 18 months and we do sleep and he don’t want to stop.
this is godsend. im trying this TONIGHT. my LO is 1 year old and i want to stop nighttime feedings. i dont mind continuing during the day but she really has trouble falling back asleep. my husband just started working overnights, so im going to take advantage and do this on my own.
😔 goodness this sounds so hard and heartbreaking but breastfeeding 🤱 a 16 month old day and night is so hard as well 😭
So happy to have found this video as I’m literally in the same situation, I have a 19 month old who nurses all night and day 🥲 I will be trying to wean her starting this weekend following this method 🙏🏽
This is my daughter and me exactly! I've been looking for a way to wean her by the time she turns two. I am definitely going to try this! Thanks!
Isn't that the truth. I hope you're doing well.
Very soon!
Wishing you the best of luck! XO

My daughter is 17 months 4 weeks old today and I’m putting my foot down! Lol.
I think I got this :)
Thank you for the tips
Veronica Roxanne how did it go was he okay when you left?
boob addict= my son too
Thank you for posting this!
How did it go?? Im pregnant too :)
This video is so comforting. I am trying to night wean my co sleeping toddlers. Thank goodness I found this video.

Just now finding this and soooooooo thankful!!!! My daughter just turned THREE and we have been cosleeping since day one and it’s so hard to wean her!!! All we have left is night time weaning and it’s driving me crazy😩😭
Any luck yet my daughter is almost 3 im so over not being able to sleep thanks

Amazing! So glad to hear this.
Thank you for the Dr. Jay referral. This is definitely our most popular blog post!! Warmly, Melanie Burns, Communications Director at Dr. Jay Gordon.
Im.. so thankful for my hubby.
This is the best weaning video i have watched yet. There just might be hope in this house afterall lol
I love these tips! My 3.5 year old wakes me up about 4 times a night! It's really hard! I am excited to try this!
We have like the exact same situation as you did. Thanks for posting this video 👍
Thank God for this video because weaning is the hardest process EVER!!!!!! My daughter is 12 months and isn't stopping I so needed this video because she can't sleep all night if I don't nurse her back to sleep a few times throughout the night.
Good luck, I promise sleep is in your future! 💗
Thank you
Thanks you so much !!! I am watching your video at 1:40am with an angry baby bc nothing else had worked. I will try this.
We're at our wits end we just put him in his room and let him cry and it breaks my heart but he's using me as a paci and he sometimes grind his teeth, my boob, everyone is so tired and I'm over it
Same girl! I’m crying as I type. I’m so over it and the pressure from others does not help. How did this go for you? I’m very curious
@@Christ-Made unfortunately I don't believe this worked. He eventually started sleeping throughout the night. I just suffered through it. I did cut out breast feeding to only meal times and eventually at almost 2 he was over it
myia serrano oh man, ok. Thank you for letting me know. The good thing is he’s done breastfeeding 🙌🏾 I feel the relief for you haha
Thank you!
+MummyDom (dom.piecesofme) I'm so glad to hear this! I truly think you can create a breastfeeding routine that works for you both. Good luck!
We kinda look like we could be related

So much harder than expected! Thank you for all your words of wisdom on this journey! I have read many articles and your's has been the most helpful!!! So thank you!
How did I never find this video? Ahh, Amanda! Love you for this one. I'm in the same position that you were in with Esmé... right now. This is very helpful and I can't wait to start the process that you describe with my little one-- Wish me luck.😕

It's so tough, I totally get it. Wishing you the best of luck!
Same position
Vi Haute Oh my gosh, thank you! I am not alone. My almost 13 month old hates everything but boobs. I really REALLY regret breastfeeding!
Vi Haute oh my god , I am going through this now , I hope your weaning went great !
Update? My 12 month old doesn’t want formula or milk
Sameeee anyone have an answer to this?
Holy crap this is exactly, LITERALLY my 12 month old... ugh. ANSWERS PLEASE
It really can be such a struggle. Thanks for circling back and sharing your experience 💗
2019 with a 23 month old! Thank you for this!
Hello Rose
I was wondering if this breastfeeding method worked for you. Today will be our 2nd night weaning our 12 month old. Our 1st night was hard. I like Dr. Gordon suggests I'm grateful for finding this video.
Elaine Silvas we are just starting this and two days in it is working very well thankfully
Thankfully its working for us too. Going on our 3rd night today. Keep me updated with how u are doing. I would like the support if u don't mind. I had notice u posted around a week ago and others posted to this thread years ago. Good luck!
