These weening videos have me legit crying haha I have a 25 month old and there’s not a lot of information out there on how to ween a 2 year old. Plus we cosleep so there’s that extra layer. Sincerely, thank you for making these videos. They are so helpful for parents who have cosleeping, breastfeeding, toddlers ❤️

I had a daughter that fondled me during breastfeeding, it got to be too much for me so I weaned her but she then replaced “na nas” with a thumb and still fondled me. She was twisting my nipple which was the worst! Lol eventually she stopped, I would move her hand and not let her much of the time unless she was going to sleep and super upset.
My son is going to be 3 in March and he also does this while breastfeeding and is co-sleeping. I have had enough…starting our sleep training, weaning journey this week! I needed a refresher, thank you for this advice! I think it’s great, and will be utilizing it! ❤

I’m in the same situation! My 2.5 year old daughter cosleeps and also fondles me and twists my nips while breastfeeding. It drives me CRAZY! I have no idea how I’m going to wean her. Were you successful in weaning your son?

I really appreciate all of your videos. My son is 2 1/2, and it's just us....no dad in the home...so I do everything on my own. He's always slept with me, and I've always nursed him to sleep. At this point, I am just so friggin over it...and honestly ready to start dating again, so having a toddler in my bed is less than ideal. I just got him a twin sized bed and put it on the floor in his room. He naps in there, and he starts in there every night. But, I still nurse him to sleep. And, he still wakes up multiple times in the night for "boobies". So I sometimes end up falling asleep with him in his bed, or telling him to come into mine. I really need to get him weaned, and help him to self soothe. I'm so glad I found your videos because I have been feeling like I'm the only lunatic who must be in this situation at 2 1/2. Most people tell me to lock him in his room and let him cry it out and pass out wherever he passes out. I just can't do that, it's heart breaking. I still don't really know what I'm going to do, but your videos give me some hope. So, thank you.

I think prior to all of our social media/easy access to info there was this 3-6 month limit to breastfeeding. It's very eyeopening all of the things you learn once you have kids and you're in the thick of it. Thanks for watching just the same!

Question, I know this is a 4 year old video so I hope you are able to respond- did you still need to pump milk after weaning?
I have a 15month old toddler, sips a little whole milk from cup when eating, same with water. However, does NOT take bottle at all! I still produce milk since I never stopped nursing, although my milk supply dipped when I was working and being home for few months in quarantine, I feed on demand and not worry about bottle washing/sterilizing etc anymore which is a plus on one end. I am at a point however, that I want my body back. I also bed-share, eventhough recently set down rail to convert crib into toddler bed maybe give him incentive to climb in since he recently reached climbing milestone. My son does not sleep in it, only during nap can I sneak him in.. when he wakes up without me, he cries histerically. Also, he gropes my other breast at any given point during the day while feeding..its very uncomfortable-sometimes frustrating bc I feel utterly touched out! I do understand it's all he knows as far as when he wants comfort, is sleepy or just hungry. I'd like to know, as I plan to start this process too following the guide from dr. and finally get some rest before quarantine fully is over and work begins. Just concerned if at this stage I can still expect mastitis or any issues when stopping breastfeeding.
Also, my mom suggested using the outter part of Aloe vera gel plant (under the green shell) to wean as the taste is bitter and baby will reject. She shared that she did this herself to wean my sister and I lol. I also heard of using apple cider vinegar with water, sprayed on to wean?
I don't want to just cut it off completely because my son gets anxious just wanting the boob right then and there during the day otherwise he will cry unconsolably. I figure, I'd want to sleep train him to self soothe as well so my husband and I can have our bed back to ourselves and our son can sleep throughout the night so we all get good rest before work and my old routine begins again. Did you have to pump, or milk supply dried up? If you pump, does that trigger toddler to want breast again bc of taste in milk? Did you stop only night time feeding or altogether? Thanks in advanced

    • @AmandaMuse
      @AmandaMuse  4 роки тому

I followed this suggested schedule pretty closely, and it worked. It was insanely difficult though because she was so attached to me. My son was a completely different story - weaned on his own just after his 2nd birthday. I don't recall having to pump with my 1st, because it was a staggered end my supply simply dwindled naturally. Best of luck to you!

What do you think i should try, if my two toddlers, just kinda look at me like a walking boob? I tried the cuddling instead and they will hit me, scream, dig they're nails in my chest... etc. I'm thinking the way that their father is in and out of their life, mainly out, has made them have serious detachment issues in general... also seeing him be completely awful to me when he was here has taught them that im a pushover... I want to wean gently but I've been trying for what feels like forever. They do two minute intervals in the day, not very often, but its not changing the entitled view they have on my breasts.. ages are 19 months and 35 month girls.. 😑

I just found your videos and they're awesome! I'm 13 weeks pregnant and my son is 17 months. I feel like it might be time to wean because I'm starting to get extreme sensitivity issues when he latches. I know you mentioned at night you distract your daughter when she would ask for milk, but what about during the day? My son will sometimes climb on my lap and sign for milk and I feel so bad redirecting him! Would you suggest giving a sippy of water or milk?

for those who think older toddlers arnt getting any nurishment from being breastfed if you read up you will find that babies are getting nurishment from breastfeeding. breast milk is catered to the childs needs. we stilk drink cows milks for goodness sake.

Well done on gently weaning Esme - you have such a lovely approach and one me and my husband try ourselves! My daughter was three when she weaned. It wasn't as gentle as I'd liked as I ended up in hospital away from her for a week but by that stage she was only feeding once every day or two so she adapted very well. I can empathize over the hand down bra thing! Freya's thing is rubbing the mole just above my breast!! It seems to bring her great comfort - strange child! ;o) Con'd...

I'm struggling as I've not got much milk flow either due to fasting... due to being nursed during the day I'm definitely not going to have enough to milk for the 8-11pm window... which I know we're going to have a very fruitful night...😔

He's okay with not breastfeeding when I'm not around. When he sleeps with my sister at night, he is fine. He has slowed down in the day, and I want to eliminate this feeding first. It's so hard to stop breastfeeding him. It's ususally easy to distract him in the day time, but sometimes he has a huge tantrum, which is hard to deal with especially in public. He's so old, (27 months) and my boobs are so sensitive and tired of breastfeeding. It's not terrible during the day, but at night, we sleep together, and everytime he rolls over, if he touches me, it will remind him of nursing. Also, if he wakes up in the middle of the night, there seems to be no way to put him back to sleep without nursing. And then when we first wake up in the morning, he also wants to nurse. Which should I eliminate first? Morning, day, or night?

My daughter is 2 1/2 and I'm still nursing her I want to stop before I start going back to college,i actually worked while nursing her when she was one wish I guess didn't affect her since she would eat regular food and got breastfed once I got out of work for her naptime 2pm, I still can't believe how much milk I still get after so long I keep getting put down by people close to me telling me I need to stop she's not getting any nutrients and it doesn't work anymore and I was suppose to stop nursing her at one and blah blah blah and it's worse that shes 2 but is as tall as a 4 year old,so people are always in shock when they find out I'm nursing her and shes 2 not 4 but they don't understand that it's only pretty much at nap time and bed time not like when she was a baby lol

22 mos is a long time! I know how hard it is (I am only 10 mos in and I don't think I could make it that long)

Interestingly enough, she cuddles me WAY more just on her own accord now. Before we had so much snuggle time that she wasn't interested. You still get the snuggles once she's ready to wean :)

I watched this when my son turned one, but I didn't follow through. Lol. He is 21 months as of today and I am DONE. He asks for "boob" and when I say no he says "go nigh nigh!" Ahh, I'm dying! Lol. Thanks for your tips! Wish me luck! Xoxo

Hi after watching your other video, I did exactly what you recommended for night routine and I did it!!!! I can't believe he sleep through the night now!! It's a miracle. Thx so much. But now I have to stop breastfeeding through the day and before bed and nap time. I'm really not looking forward to it. I am 10 w pregnant and my son is 22 months old. Since I wean him through the night he's been wanted to breastfeed so much more during the day. It brakes my heart a little. But it's also painful for me and I want to stop. I'm really lost tho. I don't know how to start this process as he loves breastfeeding so much. Can you tell me what was your daughter fav drink that replaced breast milk? Any suggestions for me you may have? I would appreciate it. The scariest part for me is weaning him before bed. He had acid reflux really bad for a year and 1/2 so never learned to fall asleep on his own. He's always fell asleep in an upright position in my arms after feeding. Since you need to keep him up for 20 min for feeding. regardless he never sleeps on his own. Thx so much for all your helpful videos. Lots of love from Toronto.

My first step will be to shorten the feeding like you said and go from there.

Congrats on making it! I'm at Step 1 and last night was night 2.... Night 1 went great and I thought ohh this won't be too bad... Well not the case, she was not having it last night.... And started pinching the life out of my boob on top of screaming her head off and throwing her water bottle as far as possible... My daughter is 18months and not a cuddlier and isn't sure what she wants to do to relax to fall back to sleep...

Cont'd..... I started introducing a soft bear that she would hug up while bf about a month ago... We'll the poor bear went flying last night! She doesn't want to be touched but I think she kinda wants to cuddle against me without me touching her :)) and she does like her fisher price musical glow worm and the fisher price snug a monkey (fingers crossed)....Trying to stay strong and stick through it :-/ .... Thank you so much for sharing your story, it's helping me to stay motivated!! :)

its totally amazing that you did this. I might try this.
for those who think older toddlers arnt getting any nurishment from being breastfed if you read up you will find that babies are getting nurishment from breastfeeding. breast milk is catered to the childs needs. we stilk drink cows milks for goodness sake.
