I used this method with my 12 month old, she is now 17 months old, but I wish I would’ve done it at six months. As soon as we got her off of the night milk using this method, she started sleeping through the night instead of waking up 2 to 3 times in the night for snack. I came back to this video to share it with a friend and I just had to leave a comment because of how much it has helped my family. Thank you!
Thank you so much. I tried cold turkey with the middle of the night bottle with my 18 month old last night. We were both unhappy!! I will try these tips
My 7 mo daughter is a night owl like her mama. She doesn’t want to fall asleep until the clock strikes 11pm, like literally on the dot. She used to wake up four times a night when I was feeding her only breast milk. My mother told me to add oatmeal or rice cereal to her night feeds at 10pm and now she sleeps from 11pm to 5am. I nurse her in bed and then she sleeps until 7:30-8ish am. I also make sure the house is also completely dark around 9pm and if I’m watching tv, I watch what I want, NOT what she wants because we noticed the bright colors keep her up and she gets bored eventually while laying down or after playing with a soft toy or teething ring and just falls asleep ☺️ I hope this might help someone
It’s hard because the only reason I want to wean my 1 1/12 year old is to get my cycle back so I can hopefully get pregnant next year. He only nurse for comfort but it’s all day and night. That suckling rather than feeding. Don’t know what to do I feel awful taking it away. I’m a stay at home mom so I’m always with him
Mine was NG Tube fed. Zero waking at night starting at 4/5 months. We fixed his bottle aversion. Now feeds 3 times at night due to snacking in the day.
My baby wakes up at 12, 2, 4:30-5, 6:30-7, 9. He is almost 9 months old. My husband does the 12 and 2 am feeds, I get to sleep from 11-4:30 but if I can just get rid of the 5AM feed. 😴 tonight I rocked him to sleep at 5AM he didn’t eat. He doesn’t eat more than 1-3 ounces at each feed, and he’s 8 months. His issue he needs help sleeping, whether bottle or rocking. Should I just to cold turkey and let him cry, should I rock him to sleep for a couple nights and then after he stops wanting food, try to get him to sleep another way? My goal is my baby gets sleepy and sleeps on his own, and doesn’t wake up for at least 6 hours
I hear you 😢 I have the same problem unfortunately. My baby would sleep feed and wake up every hour for feeds at night. Has problems with sleep on his own and putting him to sleep without a feed. ❤ If you found the solution, would you let me know? My baby boy is 4 months
@@auroramarcu1281I have same prb my baby is 14months old n still wakes up for feed in the night , he will sleep after gulping breast milk but I dn want him to wake up every 2-3hrly😭
Thank you! This helped me wean 2 out of 3 babies and the 3rd is on significantly less...still working on it. Now on just 2 oz once a night which is a huge improvement! Great clear plan, very helpful🤩🤩😍
The dog 😂❤ so cute! Some kind of hound? Also thank you for explaining the ice cream at night thing, I myself always wake up for something sweet at night and never understood why now I get it was just a bad habit created. I think I’ll night wean myself with my 18 month old.
How do I stop sleep feeds and increase longer naps in the day? My baby is 4 months old and he wakes up every hour to feed at night. Goes to bed at 8-9 pm and wakes up between 5:30-6:30. I don’t know what to do 😔
Hi, I have read your book and has successfully reduce the night feed down to 1. Now he is 2year old, he still wake up 3-5am for milk and sleep in till 7-8am. We tried to refuse feeding him and he will scream and wake the whole family up :/ Is there any way we can wean him off this last feed? Do is stick to the reduce milk method? As the last feed he is drinking 150ml.
Same 14months n Cnt wean him at night , he has to have milk n then sleeps straight after but as m soon returning to do night shifts am worried how he is going to sleep without me n breast milk 😭😭I tried not to give milk but the way he makes the noise I Cnt go cold turkey😭😭
Hello I’m not sure if you will ever see this. I have a 22 month old. She still wakes up 2-4 times a night for her zippy cup/milk. I am drained I have a 6 month old now and I can no longer do this please let me know if you think this will really help?
If my exclusively breastfed baby is 6 months or older and is progressing appropriately on her growth chart, can my husband give a bottle at night to potentially reduce the babies desire to wake at night? If so, can I reduce the amount of expressed breast milk in the bottles as described in this video? Or is it best to wait to try this approach after the baby is 9 months to a year old? Thank you!
I breastfed my son for 2.5 years. First reduced the feeding during the day, then cut the "before sleep" feeding down to every other day. That lasted for about a week. Then I just taped my ni*ples with boob tape 😬 and told him the dairy does not work anymore and he just accepted it.
Hei, this video is helpful. My baby is 1 year and 2months. I am trying to get us to sleep through the night but it seems that my lil angel is really hungry and been crying for an hour. He doesn't accept bottle or cow milk so fully breastfeeding. And if I continue night feeding at what age would baby stop breastfeeding by himself??? Thanks.
Honestly, it's difficult to predict. Some of it will come down to when you are ready to stop breastfeeding. Certainly, I would talk with your pediatrician about working towards acceptance of a cup
@@CraigCanapari thanks for your time. But I tried the night feeding at 14 months. Just last week. Now by God's grace he sleeps through the night till 7:20 . It took one week and half week for him to totally adjust. For sure it never too late to stop night feed no matter the babies age.
I have different issue ... My boy 14months old wakes up many times and takes few sips from bottle ... It's literally not a definite amount to count ... How do I deal with it ... Please help
Seriously I need help. My daughter is 17 months old n she always need bottle milk before after or within sleep. Like sometimes I feel I should die I can’t sleep at night or evening. Every half an hour she wake up for drinking.. I give her enough food at night sometimes at 10 pm n again I give her dinner at 1am because she sleeps at 1:30am always..
Great video, my daughter is 6 1/2 months and she usually has goes to bed at 8 I tried doing the Ferber method and she did cut down on the night feeds to 1 however she continued to cry before bed every day for over a week so now I’m rocking her to sleep and wakes up at 5. I breastfed her but always cries after once I put her down and I end up with her for an hour. How do I get rid of the 5 am feeding and help her to self soothe without much crying.
The best way to treat early morning awakenings is to work on independent sleep at bedtime. If CIO didn't work for you it may be worth looking at the "camping out" sleep method.

now 19 month's later still waken up every night. 1 child is enough for us.
I hear that!!! 😪
Same!!! One and done!!!
What happened how did you stop..was it replaced by anything ?
That sounds horrible. What time during the night? My 3 month old still wakes up around 3am.

You watch what you want, not what a 7 MONTH OLD wants? At that age, they shouldn't even be seeing any screens yet..

I’m glad to see a guy talking about this. Thanks for this video, very informative.
Why? Women are the only ones who should have an input on this subject.
Am I the only one to think it was Barry Kripke from the BBT 🙈
All jokes aside, thank you for this helpful video 👍

Why not give one for adoption

Roseann Vitale yes that is totally fine and will work well. As always, double check with your pediatrician.

Do you consider night a 12 hr period? For example, is it reasonable to expect a baby to go 7pm to 7am? Or is
something like 7pm to 5am more the goal?
Great question. When people are talking about “sleeping through the night” for you infants they usually mean 8-10 hours.

Maybe he’s using milk to go back to sleep. My baby sleep feeds all the time 😫 I don’t know what to do
@@auroramarcu1281same here breast milk n sleeps 😭😭
My baby cries like hell when he finishes his «last bottle of the day» that has less milk in it, because he wants more.
What can I do to help him?
Let him cry, give water

Hi, are you okay?
Then what about the water ... ?
Typically not a big deal. Unless your child is drinking tons of water overnight it’s ok to leave a bottle or cup in the crib
Is it okay if I wean my 5 month old? She is well above average on the growth curve.
Priti Nath I would check with your pediatrician

Common man, I'm supposed to take you seriously when your letting your dog eat off the counter AND LICK THE LID! YUCK!
Lol it was a gag. No dogs or counters actually harmed during the course of filming
