They really are amazing, highly recommend getting them in large schools, the natural schooling behavior when you have 15+ is an absolute treat to see every time i walk in the room. I have an established school of 22 of em
You should try feeding them frozen bloodworms, plop it in and watch a very similar feeding frenzy to redbellied piranhas, but these dont wait their turn, every tetra rushes in all at once for a mouthful before breaking off

Just added 12 to my American cichlid tank with severum, geos, and a blue acara. Perfect little addition. Fast, robust and just a great and cheap fish. I played around with adding like mascara barbs, Denison’s, etc but they were expensive, harder to find and no more exciting than these tetras.

Mine eat plants down to the root so no plants for me. They’ve otherwise been easy going, attractive community fish for me.
