I'm a part of a couple vertigo groups on FB and a lot of people say they've been dealing with vertigo for years. That scares me. I'm not sure they have been doing PT or if they have central or progressive issues. But this channel has made me feel like this will eventually go away. I've been dealing with vertigo since going to the ent in April. It has gotten better but isn't gone yet. I'm still trying. Thank you for all your help! ❤

As helpful as those FB groups can be, they can also be very dark. Dont spend to much time on FB, start journaling and setting goals of tackling functional things that cause dizziness and slowly start tackling one goal at a time! I have a great self paced work book on Amazon: the McMillin Method, how to self treat chronic dizziness and PPPD that is meant for exactly this!

Thank you for your videos. I was diagnosed with positional vertigo after I slept in the wrong position and the ENT mentioned the inner crystals in my ear were dislodge .
Eply Maneuver and two months on vestibular therapy helped, I kept doing vestibular exercises for 3 months more, after 5 months of the initial diagnosis I started to feel back to "normal".
Every time I felt out of balance I did a couple of exercises to help with the dizziness. VOR cancellation being the most effective for me and helped to stop the dizziness after few repetitions. I was doing vestibular exercises twice a day, to help strengthen my inner ear.

Its a great question...I'm sure most people have this on there minds,I'm 3.5yrs into my central problem and reckon I'm about 90% there, sometimes you think your deteriorating (one of my diagnosis was brain necrosis) but its just a natural progression with ups and downs...I do reckon that if you do an excercise and you do not feel better after doing it,then its either an excercise not for you or your doing it wrong, its not going to change you instantly, but you know in your head if you feel good after doing it (eg head shakes move my world but after 30 secs slowing to keep it steady,my vision feels more focused and I'm more sure footed. Really can be dependant how much you put into it,even working on sleep problems for me has made a large difference..love your videos, kind of you to share, hope you get reward from it.

    Good afternoon.
    Thanks for your videos
    From the uk......
    Iv suffered for 9months now.
    Vestibular neuritis
Doesn't seem to clear even after physio etc . Still dizzy and severe vertigo. I'm losing hope now its been so long.
Ruled out stroke with MRI etc.
But I do have osteoarthritis in neck vertebrae? Would this contribute to the symptoms.
Any advice would really be appreciated.

@@Lovemy911 so sorry for what you’re going through! I’m assuming they gave you a VNG and confirmed that you have a weakness in one year versus the other? Is the spinning vertigo only when you lay down or certain positions? Commonly occurs after vestibular neuronitis and come back. and because your neck can guard up to protect you against excessive movement from Vestibular neuritis. there is a chance that the neck can give you dizziness, I have had patience with spinning dizziness that is from the neck, however, it is less common to have a spinning type dizziness. Have you been able to find a good therapist that can work on the occipital muscles right at the base of the skull? I find that is a big culprit with neck related vertigo. Do also have a cervicogenic playlist on my homepage if you have not seen that.🙂

      Hello there .
Thank you for taking the time to reply 😁.my vertigo is a very off balance falling sensation " I do fall regular unfortunately. The spinning is more side to side like a swaying ship . I spent 7 days in a stroke unit .they ruled out anything sinister.
Unsure if they checked which ear is affected? As when having my physio they concentrate on my balance issues & eye movements. They say it's from a damaged/ affected Vestibular nerve? And regular therapy will help. However nothing much has changed in months .
Took me 3/4 months to walk again without crutches. Still get motion sickness from driving / passenger etc.im losing the will to live if I'm honest.? I was a normal regular guy (52) before this happened early one morning out of nowhere ' collapsed " vomiting severely. In & out of consciousness. Paralysed & non verbal for the first 7_10 days whilst in ICU . slurred speech & generally very slow in everything thereafter.
Jeez .sorry for the long message 🙄.
I guess I'm reaching out to try n get help & answers .
Ps .therapy & all tablets iv tried have done nothing & my dr has now booked me appt with ERT specialist.

@@Lovemy911 oh my that sounds terrible! And they did another MRI after your hospitalization I assume. And it’s not cardiac related. The collapse with vomiting and in and out of consciousness doesn’t quite sound like an inner ear condition?? Especially with not being able to move the limbs and not being able to speak. Regardless of the diagnosis, I hope your Physio took you through gaze stabilization exercises for the inner brain and did they ever rule in or rule outPPPD ? That can develop after an initial vertigo attack and is the most common cause of chronic dizziness.

My dizziness started 5 weeks ago with a sudden vertigo attack of some seconds, from which general dizziness remained and even increased the following 2 weeks, making me want to stay in bed and sleep, since walking and focusing were very intense. My doctor told me it is vestibular neuritis, and it may take 1-2 weeks. Currently we’re 5 weeks in, been doing all sorts of vestibular exercises from UA-cam, and while I have definitely seen improvement, since I’m now able to mostly do daily tasks again (although with challenges sometimes), I still keep being dizzy. Also I sometimes get the ear ringing for a few seconds, and sudden head pressures. I’m wondering if this is still all part of Vestibular Neuritis? Since I’m very worried for other more serious causes. Hopefully you can tell me more about this!

    • @treatdizzinessathome2023
      @treatdizzinessathome2023  5 місяців тому

A viral infection is one of the main reasons that vestibular neuronitis happens. And if you have a viral infection of the brain that can cause central vertigo, some thing like encephalitis or meningitis, for example. So it kind of depends on which area of the body was affected, but treatment methods would be, roughly the same as far as exercise goes. With the brain taking longer to heal than just an inner ear Condition.

I had an inflamed right ear twice last year causing partial hearing loss (now fully restored), apparently due to a viral infection each time.
