So great to hear from someone with such great knowledge.....have done a lot of excercises that really just wasted time....but with info from your vids have worked out that standing on left leg and doing right head nods (think the right half of each eye goes to the left brain), does wonders quickly for me (left cerrebellum damage, which I think has left me with left vestibular hypodisfunction)...thanks again ❤.

My main struggle is that non spinning dizziness that I have been having for 10 years so probably a lack of diagnosis although I am struggling just now as well with bppv, get veeery spinningly dizzy when I get up from bed and have to stay lay down with my head and cannot turn it to either side

Most common cause of chronic non vertiginous dizziness is 3 PD. Have you read a lot about that condition? It can be treated!
And always good to treat the BPPV first and then we can worry about the chronic dizziness. Always available for a free one on one call to review your case 😊.

Hello- I had (what they narrowed it down to) vestibular neuritis, 6 months ago. It was severe, as I was basically bedridden for a couple months. Couldn’t handle light, reading…or even riding in a car with my eyes open. I am doing a lot better. Walking everyday, and driving again. But I haven’t had one day without symptoms for 6 months. It’s worst when I lay down at night, and lasts until I open my eyes again. My surroundings don’t seem like they’re moving (like classic dizziness), I feel like my insides are vibrating and hopping.

Let me make a video response to this. I can post it tomorrow morning. However, in the meantime, after you’re done driving, it can be beneficial for you to sit in the car and do a 478 breathing technique for about five cycles go ahead and let your body and your central nervous system calm down and then get out of the car. But I have a couple other tips that I’ll post tomorrow. 😄

I have been to 2 ents 2 neurologists and spine surgeon and have been told different things. It's my ear or it's my neck. I was put on acetozolimide but I don't really like taking medications. My issues are when watching TV I get a sense of moving I also feel it when I am sitting or lying down. It's an off balance swaying feeling when I lean forward or side to side. It has gotten better over the last year but lately it's been creeping back in which makes me believe it is my ear. It is driving me crazy that I can't really get a straight answer. My PT swore it wasn't my neck and we did about 6 sessions but I stopped because I hurt my back and was on so many different medications that it made me have some kind of episode where I couldn't stand. I was on to many muscle relaxers and no one could tell me what was wrong. I have been doing some of your exercises but they make me very dizzy. Is that supposed to happen? I hope you can answer my question as to if these are the right exercises for me.

    • @treatdizzinessathome2023
      @treatdizzinessathome2023  Місяць тому

Exercises are only supposed to make you dizzy for one to two minutes and only one to two points higher than when you before you started the exercise. There are so many nuances when it comes to doing exercises. In my videos, I describe the goal but it doesn’t mean your body can tolerate that goal at this time. Just do your body can but don’t increase your dizziness past two points, and it should not last for longer than one to two minutes. If so, you’re doing the exercise too fast or too long. It’s always best to get an individualized plan, it sounds like you’ve been to a vestibular therapist in the past, but that’s always preferable. And as always, I do vestibular coaching online. If you’d like to see if you’re a good candidate, we can do a free discovery call just reach out to me at treatdizzinessathome@gmail.com and if you haven’t watched my PPPD playlist, I would suggest those videos as well

This is super helpful! I’ve had suspected vestibular Neuritis since march 2023. I’ve had medical clearance in terms of mri, CT, ECG and blood tests. Thankfully all clear! I’ve got better over time but the lingering symptom I have is feeling light headed /feeling faint esp when I’m outside. My ENT didn’t seem worried about the faint feeling and said to do gaze stab exercises and discharged me. At the moment I can only do 10 mins round the block max then feel faint which makes my body panic and I struggle home. I have never fainted (touch wood) and I have had the feeling faint symptom since I became unwell. Do you have any tips for this? Thanks so much ❤

When I hear faint I think more orthostatic hypotension, POTS, or cardiac. Some vestibular patients do feel overwhelmed by spacious scenarios and can feel faint but I would want to better understand that ☺️ feel free to email me at treatdizzinessathome@gmail.com and we can find time to chat if you’d like.

I spoke to a physio therapist who said it’s just sensations and will go in time when my brain is used to being outside again it’s just really stressful at the moment because I want to heal and help myself but feel limited. Happy to discuss more thoroughly over a free discovery call but couple questions:
      1) any new or progressive hearing loss on that side?
      2) I’m assuming they have done an mri?
      3) could be migraine; normally it’s going to be five minutes to hours long duration with episodes of smell, sound, or light sensitivity, with increasing dizziness during that time frame
      4) scm tightness of the neck can refer into the ear and up into the forehead. Check out my daily neck stretch video (especially the scm stretch) see if that helps or targets that pain area

No full diagnosis. Four months to date. Labyrinthitis diagnosed by two doctors two others think psychological or heart. Cardiologist dismissed heart as an issue. Referred to ENT specialist and MRI scan. Unsteadiness ( not dizziness) is episodic. Was getting better with walking a lot then had another relapse recently tried some jogging on the spot which seemed to trigger episode two hours later. Then a cold virus spreading in the office seems to have made it worse.

@@treatdizzinessathome2023 Thank you. No VNG yet. Doctors seem to be going through a process of discounting everything else. Been to hospital twice in the early days with the symptoms pain in chest, neck and arm. They thought it was heart problems. Hence cardiologist. Every test they did was negative. Blood, ECG and constant monitoring, no Diabetes, no kidney issues. Mind you to some degree I expected that. I was walking a lot for an Everest trip. Two days before I was hit I’d just walked 17 miles and had been walking that and more on a regular basis. If I’d heart problems something tells me I’d have had trouble on the walks.

@@treatdizzinessathome2023 it was a strange development. The doctor at the hospital on my initial visit said off the cuff. Covid could be causing it. There was a virus causing dizziness at work at the time. Two people who were in their 30’s in the office complained of similar symptoms. They recovered in a few days. I’d had three Covid jabs and Covid a year ago or so. I didn’t notice any other virus symptoms other than the initial nearly passing out in the shower. Then unsteadiness started to appear. It was slight after the first attack over the first two weeks and I really didn’t think much of it. Then I had two episodes, one driving and one taking shopping out of car boot within a few days and the unsteadiness caused other symptoms similar to heart issues and panic, anxiety attacks set in.
I’d go a few days after that and have other milder attacks of anxiety and panic as balance came and went a little. Triggers seem to be movement, bright office lights and screens sometimes and being in shops. After an attack noise in shops etc seem to irritate a bit. Since October generally no panic or anxiety attacks. Think my body is basically used to imbalance doesn’t cause reaction like it did. Never got physically sick but initially nearly fainted and subsequently during attacks lose appetite. Walking definitely seems to reduce symptoms most of the time. That’s walking and focusing on objects. Anything else doesn’t seem to generally. Do do some balance exercises that seem to help a little in the morning.

@@treatdizzinessathome2023 the doctors by the way dismissed as ridiculous any mention of a virus being passed around causing it. I find that strange with the cases of similar symptoms in others at work, and the fact that a virus can kick off Labyrinthitis or Vestibular Neuritis.

      - did they do and mri or MRA of the Brain to see if any parts of the brain were affected

Diagnosed with Ménière’s disease about 2 years after more than 20 years since my very first episode. Had several different diagnosis from: virus, vestibular neuritis, to left peripheral vestibulopathy, and finally Ménière’s. I’ve just been slowly coming out of my latest relapse and suffer from dizziness/swaying , nasty headaches and blurred vision. I’m doing daily balance exercises, walking, head/eye movement VOR. Once I start feeling better, is it necessary to keep doing excelsior’s even while not feeling severe symptoms.

What an ordeal you’ve had! Make sure to watch some of my videos on Ménière’s disease treatment, but you are correct.. once you feel better you don’t have to do gaze stability exercises any longer. The gaze stability exercises are best for stable lesions, meaning once the Ménière’s disease has finally resolved, the exercises will be more effective for you. And the exercises don’t prevent attacks, so again you don’t necessarily have to do them after you come back to your baseline.
