I have been a fan for 36 years. Their music has been part of my life since I was a teen. I've waited 36 years to see them live--number one thing on my bucket list. Something always came up to make it impossible. Last night I had that dream come true. It was the experience of a lifetime that I will never forget. It felt and still feels like a dream. They had a lovely quiet tribute to Andy Fletcher during 'World in My Eyes'. When Dave and Martin walked to the end of the extended stage and sang 'I'm Waiting for the Night to Fall', it was beautiful. I hope they know how many souls they've spoken to in the past four decades.
Love it that Dave has never lost his accent. Depeche Mode are a group the have something for everyone. They really are one if the greatest bands to have ever existed.
Nope he knows the most about them. Way more than u! In fact saw Depeche Mode bring him up on stage at a concert and tell everyone he knows more than you. It was crazy they crowd went nuts. They said it was the best concert they have had.
The story of Depeche Mode is really to never underestimate the underdog, the "weirdos", the outliers - who could have guessed that those awkward teens from Basildon 43 years ago and their poppy synth music would end up becoming one the most legendary, epic bands in the world, millions of albums sold, millions of fans in every corner of the globe with the most emotionally resonant and powerful music which only seems to become more relevant and important with each passing year.. I'm almost positive if the likes of Beethoven, Mozart and Bach were still around, they'd appreciate and be enjoying Depeche Mode as well.
Totally. I think Morrissey wrote some review of them when they first started and it was quite a negative one. I’d rather hang out with Dave and Martin over Morissey any day!
Possibly the best live show I’ve seen seeing Depeche Mode ….and I’ve seen Led Zeppelin in 07 and Kraftwerk x2 which where great gigs but Depeche Mode was another level Dave Gahan is a pure showman
Dave, Martin & Fletch were basically brothers; they grew up together. It's so hard to talk of Fletch in the past tense. They have so much love & respect for one another. Dave & Martin look and sound amazing! DM forever. ❤️
You and me and God knows how many absolutely love these guys and their music. As has been said so many times and is a bit of a cliche but it's so true, their music is the soundtrack to our lives...
I love that Martin and Dave really look fresh and healthy. Good job guys. You have much to live for and many people worldwide love and appreciate your body of work. 🇬🇧💕💕💕🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Depeche Mode, modern music royalty! The most prolific and influential band of the 80s. Brilliant composing, song writing, lyrics, sound. Profound themes and messaging.
I remember doing some art stuff for them years ago! When they asked fans to add their art to a photo! My one was part of what appeared at shows :) I was so over the moon
His writing is 🤯. Can you imagine if Vince never left and Martin wasn’t writing the songs? 🤔 Even in his 60s Martin is still sharp as a tack and has never lost his edge. 40+ years and the hits keep coming.
Watching this, I just wish there was a way I could connect with these two and express my full appreciation for them. Their chords have buzzed through nearly every important memory. If only I could have them hear the words from my mouth, acknowledging my deepest sentiment and indebtedness for services rendered. I have no grand cause in my name or even talents to offer in return for these who have added proportion and frame of reference to my own personal recollection of the 80s and 90s
Sacramento was a really really great show! The new album is just simply insanly incredible...I love the Memento Mori's sound!💯 Thanks gents!!! ✌DEVOTEE💜FOREVER
So good to hear your concert experience. The album is great. My 17 year old son and I have tickets for Cleveland this year, and that he's going to get to see such an epic, historic band in person is amazing ❤
Yeah. I grew up listening to 101. Funny how when I hear the album versions, I wanted to put it all the things that Dave yells out to the audience intermittently :-)
What a journey. What a legacy. Those of us who have known these amazing guys, amazing artists for most of our lives. Their music underlines every aspect really. Long may it continue.
Hope you do come back and your in UK u were my rock when I was in a dark place so happy that despite poor Fletch having passed you are still continuing he’s be so happy I’m sure he’s with you guys ❤
Me too. I liked the stuff they did with Vince, but for me A Broken Frame is where things became interesting. Their most underrated album. I wish they would bring Leave In Silence back as a live number. That one would go down a storm.
I've been a fan of Depeche Mode since Violator back when I was a young teen. And since then, I have only come to love them more n more and eagerly anticipate each new release. RIP Fletch! DM forever! 🤘
Good interviewing. Thought up some decent questions, put them succinctly and let the guys talk without interruption. Interesting fellas to listen to too, I could listen to either one of them talk all day. Thanks to all involved in making this happen, really enjoyed listening in. 🙂
Never thought much of them years ago but not long ago saw them live on tv changed my mind being into prog rock and rock put on a great show and great front man 👍
I think Dave and Martin r incredible, and i love them, as people.and their music sinse Construction time again ive been a fan thru r funny and so humble and relatable. I would, love 2 see them live.its one of my pipe dreams im from New Zealand. not sure how, it wil happen 😢.
‘Performance style that came out of fear…’. I can totally relate to that 😂 moving around a lot helps discharge the excess energy for me too! DM probably my favorite band ever.
Love these guys & how their music helps us. Got a new tattoo referencing words from “Precious” in memory of my Precious & her deceased 4 legged siblings, over Easter weekend by an artist named Christian. The connections never cease to amaze. ❤
I am glad that you guys get to do interviews like this. I would never trust myself to get a good enough conversation going with someone I look up to, to feel like the result would be good enough (I would probably be too starstruck if I met anyone popular who I also look up to), let alone anywhere close to this result you share with us here on UA-cam. Thanks a lot for sharing.
I’ve seen them live loads of times over the years, starting in early 80s. Their new tour is at Twickenham Stadium. Unfortunately the ticket prices started at £180. Can’t afford that!
Great accidental Partridge at around the 2:00 mark "Laser Quest". (Compliment) Although I think it more likely to find Martin and Dave visiting an Owl sanctuary or a Roman fort! 🤔🇬🇧
I've loved DM since the first time I heard them, I believe it was 1983. I was completely mesmerized by the sound. It hit me right in that perfect zone. I am so glad that you're still making music and touring! Man, I'm so glad you guys are still doing the synth sound!! It's the best, don't listen to those that tell you to go acoustic. It's awesome to hear you guys laugh and haven't lost your sense of humor. Keep up the great work and catch you on the flip side!! 😊
Gracias por la traducción Pies, entendiendo lo que dice la canción cobra más emoción y se disfruta más.....estoy de acuerdo contigo es una auténtica joya este álbum.
The last time I saw them I won tickets on the radio in San Francisco during the morning show by filling in the lyrics to two of their songs. I was so nervous as I knew people would be listening on their commute, during breakfast, etc. But, the DJ host was really kind and said, ‘ it’s like having Dave Gahan right here in the studio!’ 😂 yes, I am an alto and I often sound like a dude when I sing… 😂
Been a huge fan since I bought the original Some Bizarre album in early 1981. Seen them live 24 times. Best tour/favourite tour was either Black Celebration or Broken Frame. I loved the latter. It was so simplistic. No videos. No fancy lights. Just three synths and a reel to reel and Dave. Plus they played songs Ive never heard them play again : Monument, Satellite, Shouldn’t Have Done That, The Sun And The Rainfall. A fantastic show. And although I loved Devotional and World Violation etc, there was something truly special about those early tours. In fact Im going to go and play their most underrated album now ! A Broken Frame.
It's a shock when I hear people say they've never seen Depeche Mode live. I've seen them at least 40 times and they never fail to disappoint. I gotta say that seeing them on the Momento Mori tour has been bittersweet without Fletch.
Saw them in Vegas ! Life altering event . So good to see them after 40 yrs of there music playing in the background of my life . Absolute pros on stage
Depeche Mode live is fucking great!! I got a great Depeche Mode story I was working security at Dodger Stadium shows and I was right in the middle of the stage. I basically could have pulled Dave from the stage. All you could hear was a wall of screams. They timed it perfect as the sun set they blacked out the entire stadium. With Anton's images HUGE in black and white.
Fan all my life ,i just wished my mates were ..Never watched them live ...Danced about in my living room with the policy of truth playing full blast on my speakers once or twice 😋

RIP Andrew Fletcher, proper respect. You changed lives with your art. ❤
Andrew : suddenly death. Heart. Vax?
He can’t hear you.
I’ve never seen Dave and Martin so close and so comfortable in each other’s company. Fletch’s death has clearly brought them close to each other.
Right? I'm bordering on being baffled to be honest.
Same here ! It’s marvelous.
You clearly didn’t know them in the early days like I did.
Nope he knows the most about them. Way more than u! In fact saw Depeche Mode bring him up on stage at a concert and tell everyone he knows more than you. It was crazy they crowd went nuts. They said it was the best concert they have had.
-- I still can’t believe that Fletch is gone. He is so missed. ❤️
That's what hurts me the most
It's a big loss. Doesn't seem right he isn't on stage with them.
@@bargepoled -- I completely agree with you.
I know what you mean. I miss his stoic personality; that quick, dry sense of humor.

Spare us your wisdom
Sorry to say but it was a very very long time ago DM was the underdog.
Synth pop was everywhere in 1981 mate, do me a favour. What separates DM is their quality and longevity.
Totally. I think Morrissey wrote some review of them when they first started and it was quite a negative one. I’d rather hang out with Dave and Martin over Morissey any day!
@@claritywellnesscoaching768 But Morrissey *likes nobody* . Is there any artist he hasn't spoken badly of over the years?
Seen DM in concert many times. They are phenomenal artist live. Powerful performances.
Been in a band with Martins nephew for years, he speaks about how grounded he is and it’s refreshing to see
Possibly the best live show I’ve seen seeing Depeche Mode ….and I’ve seen Led Zeppelin in 07 and Kraftwerk x2 which where great gigs but Depeche Mode was another level Dave Gahan is a pure showman
I like the fact Martin is still the shy silent one in interviews who lets Dave talk lol.
He has a lovely singing voice too.
Gahan has experienced a near death experience himself so he has a different perspective on it than those that haven't.
A Very close call for him. God wasn't ready for him, thank goodness.
I've loved Depeche Mode for 40 yrs. Seen them live 11 times. Amazing.

My favorite band for the past 30+ years. Hope they continue doing their thing for as long as possible. Can't imagine a world without Depeche Mode.
Good thing they recorded everything.
Yes, good old DM. Long may they continue!
I hope they carry on recording new music. I wouldn’t mind if they never played live again but Im very keen on new DM tunes. Love Memento Mori.
I love Depeche Mode

The memory of a passing soul remains eternal.
Depeche mode helped me out of some dark times.
The only band where the actual music still beats all before and after hands down.Pioneers in sound and pioneers in emotional expressing feelings
They are now truly DM. Dave Martin. A duo...it's so weird.
I love that Martin and Dave really look fresh and healthy. Good job guys. You have much to live for and many people worldwide love and appreciate your body of work. 🇬🇧💕💕💕🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
DAVID & MARTIN - always in a great mood...
How could you not just love them??? Looking forward to the tour😊

I appreciate Dave’s honesty about his preference for doing nothing and staring into space. I resemble that.
can't wait to see them for the 1st time in Houston later this year. ecstatic
Martin Gore is a fucking genius.
His writing is 🤯. Can you imagine if Vince never left and Martin wasn’t writing the songs? 🤔 Even in his 60s Martin is still sharp as a tack and has never lost his edge. 40+ years and the hits keep coming.

Yes he is!
Some of Gore's solo material is on another level. The operative word: genius. Yes.
