I was a backstage security guard for Depeche Mode show back in mid 90's in Houston, TX. They gave me strict orders to make sure everyone had a backstage pass showing at all times. When a group of 3 guys walked in, I saw one didn't have a pass so I stopped him. He said "I'm with the band!" in a snobby way. The other guy tapped me and said "he's ok." I found out later it was Andy Fletcher. When the show ended, Dave Gahan walked over to me where I was posted and gave me a concert t-shirt and thanked me for the good job I did - I guess he got word. I wish I still had that shirt but I gave it away that night because I wasn't as big as a fan as I am now.
I worked in music business. Had friends at the Mute Czechoslovakia and they told me Fletch was not very popular with the Mute staff in London. He would behave like this big star. The other band members were very friendly, very normal.

Seeing them on a TV interview.... I am still stunned I saw these 3 in person, literally 3 feet from me, eating lunch, walking past me in a hotel and getting into the black Suburban. I was speechless. What a great experience.
I saw a bit of that German TV broadcast Dave mentioned, it was probably in 1982. Dave was singing "See You" with a chicken in his lap! You can find it on UA-cam :-)

Martin is the true musician, the silent one, he’s not present, he’s thinking of making music. Dave Gahan is looking like John Waters more and more everyday,
Its great to see a bunch of down to earth English blokes who you could easily just get on great with in a pub and have a good laugh and they all just happen to be one of the greatest bands ever and one of the greatest comedy writer/performers ever. Martin is the leader. I didn't realize that until recently. Have loved DM since the 80's and just now know Martin is at the head of it all.
Yesss! I know what you mean. He's just that humble and modest. He must not have a jealous bone in his body because all of his songwriting glory most times is thought to be Dave's. I LOVE all the songs that Martin lead sings on and makes me always wonder why he didn't sing more. But then again he was always more on the shy side.
Seeing them on a TV interview.... I am still stunned I saw these 3 in person, literally 3 feet from me, eating lunch, walking past me in a hotel and getting into the black Suburban. I was speechless. What a great experience.
So jealous.
exactly you are for incredible people and Depeche Mode is the final result.....thank you for being ❤
I'll like it then watch it. Missed this one. Much love from North East England Skavlan. X
They are still so grounded, funny how Martin hardly ever speaks.. and he writes most of the music
I saw a bit of that German TV broadcast Dave mentioned, it was probably in 1982. Dave was singing "See You" with a chicken in his lap! You can find it on UA-cam :-)

they're incredible..gonna b here n dallas this fall..can't wait
If you've come across this, it's really worth watching the whole thing. It's excellent.
I'm always in a great mode when I listen to Depeche
Does Martin ever NOT look nervous?? LOL
Well, he's a shy guy. Someone else usually speaks for him in these band interviews.
Lol
How thrilling for me to see this. Been listening to them since the 80s. Think Ill get back into DM for awhile....
Simplemente los amo y amare para siempre. No hay palabras para explicar todo lo que he sentido con su música. Gracias por existir casi al mismo tiempo que yo. Dave te amo!
Why can't all TV interviews have the same chill, respectful vibe that produces relaxed and funny conversations like this? Guess we're not all Scandinavia ;)
Depeche Mode and Ricky Gervais in the same stage. Fuckin' legends!
I have always liked the sound of the songs of this band. Since I was a teenager. I live in Brazil.
THEY were / are the soundtrack of my life!
Good on you for getting rid of the negative crap in your life, Dave. You've come a long way, mate, and you've got so much good work to show for it.
I had no idea Andy Fletcher was such a good raconteur!
the best band of world
Cesar mode Tristan can't agree more
Johnas99 Rammstein made me a DM. Fan.
My favourite band and my favourite comedian in the same video. Now I can die happy.
Been listening to Depeche Mode since junior high.Love these guys
One of the longest surviving band in the music history. They still make a good music and their performances is like its theirs prime
Martin is the true musician, the silent one, he’s not present, he’s thinking of making music. Dave Gahan is looking like John Waters more and more everyday,
This is probably my favourite Interview of the boys, it's so funny and cool ans tbh there were some tears here
Maybe one of the best interviews ever on Skavlan.
Depeche Mode in 2019..✌❤🎵🎤

Essa banda veio do espaço sideral! Está além de seu tempo. Melhor do mundo.
Depeche Mode The best ever!
Its great to see a bunch of down to earth English blokes who you could easily just get on great with in a pub and have a good laugh and they all just happen to be one of the greatest bands ever and one of the greatest comedy writer/performers ever. I love the easy goingness between them all. They just get each other like a lot of us Brits abroad when together.
I’ve been a huge fan of DM since the early 90s. Always will be!
