I don't think you've encountered many grumpy people in your life... I'm married to one. What you're seeing here is not grumpiness. It's just the way most British people are. Low-key, a bit shy and awkward, low energy, and a bit negative/self-deprecating and skeptical, which often takes the form of banter, irony or even sarcasm. You need to really be used to this culture to understand it and appreciate it and not make wrong assumptions about people's behaviour, especially when comparing them to Americans (apples and pears).

Blur is a band that caught my attention from the start,there's something about the music end the videos that struck a chord on me I can't explain. That song Tender breaks me in a million pieces. Some say artists are the antennas of mankind and I believe it!
Saw them at Malahide Castle Dublin end of June. Amazing gig, as an English lad i felt quite proud among yhe Itish, them all having a good old British singalong They actually came out to the theme tune to Crossroads, i reference lost on EVERY crowd member, except me (im 50) ... crossroads was rubbish but i remember Mum watching it !
Looking forward to the new album after hearing "The Narcissist" single. To me it sounds fresh and different but still essentially Blur. In other words, it hints at a nice evolution of their sound from where they left off with their last album.
Some of you might find it strange, but as an Eastbourne resident, it got announced they would be playing the winter gardens and quite literally the tickets were gone and we had loads of people in the town, right up to today, pissed off that they didn’t get a chance to get a ticket. These old folk… there are grannies down here with a WhatsApp group for a knitting group, another for the bowls club… I was in Costa about a week ago with an 80 yr old explaining WhatsApp to her son (even though he knew about it) then go on to say “I’ve got eight or nine WhatsApp groups and then there’s the family ones…” Her own son (from earwigging it) came down from Birmingham to see her, was stunned. I was just laughing. My neighbour is a 76yr old guy, he’s got his mobility scooter and a blue tooth speaker and goes along the seafront with Iron Maiden blaring out, he was telling me a while back he had to delete a WhatsApp group because he accidentally put his ex-wife and ex-girlfriend in the same group as his current girlfriend… So Eastbourne may well fill the Winter Gardens when Blur play, with loads of absolutely mental OAP’s Tuesday, an old guy was sat outside my place in a battered VW camper van, smoking a huge spliff listening to Eminem at an ear splitting volume.
They are in great shape. Their live sound sounds even better and more full of energy, and vitality than maybe 20 something years ago. Back on your feet lads, please do us and yourselves a big favour, make noise, music, gigs, shows, in other words... keep doing what you are doing because there are thousands, maybe millions of people who need to to listen to real great tunes. You guys are the very few around who can make great beautiful sings and outperform yourselves like it is something easy to do. There's plenty of youth in your eyes, and if the eyes are a reflection of the souls, you have more than you need to place lots of songs at the top of every chart, billboards, you name it. So make the most of it. GOD BLESS EACH ONE OF YOU.
2009 was an expensive year for me, it was the year of my brothers 18th so I got me and him weekend tickets to download so I could see Faith No More, then I won tickets to Sonisphere to see Metallica and then Blur announced they were reforming and playing shows in Hyde Park. I couldn’t pass that up, they were brilliant live and if I get the opportunity I will be going to see hem live again but hopefully somewhere a bit closer to home.
They’re a great band, from what I’ve heard so far the album I’d looking great. Their history is great. What better uk band had there been since the 90s apart from them oasis , pulp, suede, and maybe the a monkeys ?
@@robs6779 yes true forget about them, Radiohead are one of the greats , i wasnt a massive fan of Portishead but they were a great band . but the last group of great bands are as mentioned . There are others of course but for me none else really mattered. It certainly wasn’t all about blur and oasis and pulp I was in the car yesterday with my teenage daughter, and I was playing the new blur single, she said dad this is crap he’s juts trying to sound like the singer in gorillaz .
