Canarias is my favorite so far. I'm glad you touched on the effects. Most reviewers focus on taste exclusively. They often don't even mention effects. But effects are by far the main thing for me. They are my whole reason for drinking yerba mate. I wish you would cover effects even more. Both energy and mood. And maybe compare effects across brands, and across different versions within a brand. That would be great. I very much prefer sin palo. If you read about green tea vs matcha, the powdered form is better for health and you get more out of it. Both the nutrients and the active compounds (like the xanthines) are more available with the powder form. Same with yerba mate. I notice that Taragui has a sin palo version. I am going to try it too. If you try it or any others, it would be great to hear more about them.
Thank you so much for these comments, @viveviveka2651!!! I will be posting much more in the future and will certainly do a video on the effects. Very informative and interesting!! But honestly I’m mostly commenting for your Kentucky shirt! I lived in Louisville from 2008-2019 and miss that place. Thanks for reminding me of good times!
Just started today with Playaditos, which is supposed to be a sweeter Mate. I still found it quite bitter as I also don’t drink coffee. After a couple refills and a bit of honey I started enjoying it more and more. Gonna try it again this evening before my workout.
@pc6054 Thanks for sharing!! Much of the bitterness in yerba mate comes from the dust or 'palvo'. Adding sweeteners, especially natural ones like honey, can certainly make consumption more enjoyable :). Let me know what you think of it as a pre-work out drink.
@@yerbatravels just finished my workout and let me tell you. I got a noticeable energy boost after I finished my Mate, not only that but I got an insane pump. Definitely better than the sports drinks I used to drink during my workout.
@@pc6054 Awesome!!! I have been telling people for a while now to use it as a pre and post-workout drink. Thank you for sharing your account. Was it a Playadito yerba mate?

I mean Messi is drinking Canarias (traitor, lol) so that alone pumps some popularity. I myself only started yerba journey about 2 weeks ago on first order with Cruz de Malta. Now I ordered, red Rosamonte, yellow Playadito and blue Taragui. After that I'll try red Amanda and I'm very keen to actually try Canarias and purely for the fact that Messi is pumping this one.

This was my first Yerba mate i tried 🤣 but i love bitter and earthy things already so i figured I’d go for something that others highly recommend. From Nepal. I have been drinking canarias as my first yerba mate. Ive been experiencing frequent coughing. I try to ignore the fine particles as much as i can. Is it because of the fine particles of yerba. Does yerba contribute to coughing?
Sorry to hear that.. I am not familiar with yerba causing any coughing. Canarias is a fine cut, and the little leaves certainly do get through the bombilla. Argentine cuts are a bit bigger, and some have very little powder (dust). Try a larger cut like Playadito or Amanda
I am a beginner to mate pretty much and love this brand compared to Guayaki! My wife and i recently switched to Yerba Mate after drinking coffee for decades. I drink my coffee black and i sought out a mate that packed a punch. This one sure does! The only downside is that this is such a large bag it's going to take a while to finish it off and i want to explore different flavors. It's a shame that there is no variety pack out there. What other brands would you recommend to a beginner that IS looking for bold and not scared to take a punch?
Happy to hear we have two more materoes in our circle 😁 If you're switching from coffe and like the 'punch', then I would recommend a barbacua style yerba like Isondu barbacua or La Merced. Mate Factor also has a punch to it. I have heard many people wanting a sample variety pack. Me included. I have a few things in the works and that is one of them. Hopefully we can make it work for you and so many others in the near future.
ei great video! I also got myself a bag of CANARIAS mate, love the taste and scent. However I am struggling a bit to not drinking a lot of leaves while sipping (of course I've tried all different processes to avoid it), so I am thinking that maybe I could try with a different bombilla ? I am new in the Yerba mate world so I am not sure wether there are bomibllas mose suitable for a thinner cut like the one Canarias have. Does anyone have any advice on a type of bombilla that could work for it :)? Thanks!
Yes, there are a variety of bombillas out there that can be used. Believe it or not they now have a bombilla that has 1,000 holes!!! In my expereience I have noticed that I get quite a bit of leaves in the first couple of rounds, but if I use my (spoon) bombilla to pack in the wet yerba after those first few rounds, then I don't get many leaves from that point on. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great question! I just believe this packs a stronger flavor punch than others. Yes, there are other brands / yerbas out there that are more bitter than this. But, honestly many people's taste pallets are different. I've had people tell me one yerba is too bitter for them when I don't think it's bitter at all 🤣.
