Playadito is the best! Out of all the brands I've tried this is the one I keep going back to. The effects are just right for me and the flavor is very well balanced and not too bitter. I'd say it's the perfect brand for both beginners and experienced drinkers.

Excellent review. I love Playadito - probably my favourite yerba. I was taken a-back by the malty, bready flavour when I first tried it compared to the much more bitter/grassy varieties I'd previously tried. Not too heavy on caffeine which I like if I'm not in the mood for a big bolt of stimulation.

As a man of campo, I drink Playadito everyday, best price/quality ratio IMO. And BTW 70ºC is a bit cod IMO, I prefer it to be sround 85 to 90ºC, but drink it the way you like the most, some people prefer to drink it colder than others

I always use kettle + fire to heat the water (extra tradition points if it's wood fire + an old aluminum kettle full of bucklings), always use calabash gourd, or carob wood gourd, never use electric kettle, NEVER use silicon/PVC gourds, I could drink from a metal gourd only if the other person invites (you know to not be disrespectful but I'd rather not). That's how a man of campo drinks mate, that's how I drink mate. Cheers.

I just ordered my first Yerba Mate "starter kit" which is the Playadito... seemed like the best option for newbies. Assuming I like it and want to try something a little stronger what would you recommend be my next step?
Playadito is a great choice! With such a wide variet of flavors and flavor profiles, you can't really go wrong. Depending on your taste preferences, I would recommend a Barbacua like Isondu. For something will a less smokey flavor I would recoment Porongo or Anna Park. You could also try out the different flavored yerba. If you are looking for a stronger punch then I would recommend Rosamonte Especial or Canarias.
Wow, when I first saw your videos I was like: “what? Toffee? Sweet?” What is this all about… But right after, when I tried my mate again, all those flavors were magically there 😅 and now I can appreciate them and not just the bitter taste. Good videos! I would say Playadito is softer taste. La Merced de Campo has a bit of a stronger taste (which I prefer). La Merced has a luxury taste to it. It's hard to really explain, but there is something about it that makes it stand out just there is when you drink and expensive wine or a top-shelf bourbon.

@yerbatravels since I now know you like a mate with "kick", you'll love the Taragui Sin Palo; it's the first mate I started with 😂 it's got KICK boi, but not bitter, and maybe I'm crazy but I feel like it has a nice, theobromine pleasure kick as well! I use it as a mood booster at work to deal with the insane, unwashed masses! Try it out, man, I think you'll enjoy!

There are plenty of yerbas out there that have no sweetness to them and are bitter as all get out! Dark roasted yerba being one of them. What yerba do you drink @poppetx?

I don't know how it is in other places, but in europe there are only 500g packs available, in this gold/brass packaging. Way more complex than Playadito. This was my first yerba mate brand. And was also my favorite one. I loved it because of its sweetness 🧉🧉
This is a great yerba for first time drinkers. I think is softer and provides some good energy.

Just had Playadito this week and I’d even say a large flavor note for me was definitely something toasted. Either toasted nuts or toasted marshmallow.
