    Dude! Thanks so much for posting this! All my games look so much better now. and ED is well beyond amazing. I was about to see if I could find some new lenses or something and spend some more money but now theres no need everything is clear now. You saved me a bunch of time and money thanks again.

    Thanks for this! I've been tweaking my settings for a few days now since i got the VR and since ED is really the only game i can play (controllers already broken - going through nightmares with HTC customer service) - this helped tremendously - getting a solid 90 fps on my 980Ti and everything looks hella better.

    Great video, been looking at a Vive for Elite for a while, nice to see someone explain this better.

    Good video, made me potentially late for work. Still looking forward to getting a Vive.

    I find supersampling looks great for recording, but rubbish in the headset. HMD Image Quality is great in the headset but rubbish in recording

    • @SavageVR
      @SavageVR 5 років тому +1

      YES! Even still true today! When I am recording/streaming I have to use different settings which kills me in the HMD but looks great for the recording/stream. I will give these ideas a shot. I am in a 1070 and should be getting better than what I am. I also learned that Firefox is disgusting in the resources it hogs.

    Hi. I play ed on 2080 super and oculus rift s when I set graphics to ultra hmd 2.0 and ss to 2.0 I'm getting less than 40 fps I'm willing to invest in another 2080super if this will help. Do you know how this game is scaling at sli?

    Elite dangerous profiler - the settings always reverts back to windowed mode every time I switch it to full screen.

    Sorry if you've already planted this info elsewhere man, but what PC hardware are you running around the 980 (cpu, etc..)? Im a bit off getting my pc together - we'll probably be into Kaby Lake before i get my arse in gear (lol), but these videos are excellent for getting a feel as to what i might be in for experience wise.. Thanks for making them :)

    Can these settings work for Oculus Rift too?

  • @ParadiseDecay
    @ParadiseDecay 7 років тому

    Without trying these settings myself, how do you think it will compare to my GTX 1060? - I don't want to mess around with it, if I don't have to becuase the LOW VR setting gives me the 90FPS on my Oculus.

    Thanks for an interesting watch. So EDProfiler has supersampling set at 1.0 (in-game), but you later say 2.0? I'm assuming that you're talking about setting SS in the Steam app?

    • @vrexperience2696
      @vrexperience2696  8 років тому

      ED profiler refers to the in game supersampling, not the setting in SteamVR which should be set to 2.0 :)

    will be trying this out on my 980 laptop only having issues of judder in the vive headset. have not adjusted any settings just put super sampling on vive to 1.5 just hope your video works for me will get back with results :) thanks again

      Keep in mind this was with a watercooled 980ti. Its quite a bit faster than a laptop variant :)

      VRexperience ye that will make a difference I am hoping it will be similar as my 980 just beats the 1070 desktop

      VRexperience just to update you on my trial and error downloaded vive software on HTC website with my laptop 980 I can run in-game super sampling 1.0 hmd ss at 1.25 with steamvr super sampling on 2.0 was only able to do this after loading game through viveport

  • @gr3yh4wk1
    @gr3yh4wk1 7 років тому

    What about when you are running ED natively and not in Steam VR? I've had the game since release but not on steam. I found setting HMD quality to 2.0 and SS to 0.5 gives me decent frames.

  • @gortt7611
    @gortt7611 7 років тому +3

    This is very confusing - you super sampling states 1.0 - but verbally you states 2.0 - then in your comment you state 0.65 ??

    • @jimmywhite11
      @jimmywhite11 7 років тому

      Yes I noticed that to so that's why I've been reading through the comments to see if he corrects himself anywhere...I guess not.
      I think he meant to say he has his set to ss=1 rather then 2.

    • @5Andysalive
      @5Andysalive 7 років тому

      i strongly assume he has supersampling turned up in the vr settings, not ingame.

    • @jimmywhite11
      @jimmywhite11 7 років тому

      I've been playing around with this a bit now and I think he does mean to say that he has ss set to 2.0(it just looks so much better).

    Good vid, can't seem to find ed profile anywhere though! Doh! Could you stick a link up?
    Going to mirror you're settings to start, on a 980ti also.
    Thanks for taking the time to put this vid up.

      Thats no good to hear, on paper the 1070 should be around 5-10% faster than the 980ti not to mention it has an extra 2GB VRAM. Are there any other specs in your system that could be holding it back?

      I can honestly say that in VR with Elite Dangerous, I don't notice the screendoor effect like I do in other games.

    Is a 970 playable in VR with lowest settings?

    • @Staki6908
      @Staki6908 7 років тому

      Yes that's what I currently have until I can snag up a 1080ti. It is playable one lowest settings. With a safe overclock I managed to turn up a little bit, but you can't get carried away with supersampling.

  • @crazzylee

    20 years from now we will look at this like it's a N64. Seems like steam needs to come out with their own machine to run HTC VIVE at ultra high super sampling settings at the lowest price possible. Even if it cost today $5000 and can make monthly payments. Nobody like building a computer to find out it's just not good enough for VIVE.

    • @jimmywhite11
      @jimmywhite11 7 років тому

      You do know steam does have their own pc's right? Their called steam machines... store.steampowered.com/sale/steam_machines

    Titan x sli with 2.5 --> 90 fps ?

    • @vrexperience2696
      @vrexperience2696  8 років тому

      Possibly...the jury is still out on if it is an engine limitation though as my 980ti throttles back clocks slightly at 2.5x

    • @MrShotsbro
      @MrShotsbro 8 років тому

      I don't believe VR supports SLI yet ( i could be wrong here) but thats what im hearing/seeing - maybe someone can confirm/deny?

    • @vrexperience2696
      @vrexperience2696  8 років тому

    why is 90 fps so important, bearing in mind that our human eye ca not see the difference between 30 and 90

    • @Ninjakebab
      @Ninjakebab 7 років тому +7

      Thats bullshit. Just from 30 to 50fps there is a world of difference that everyone can see, not just hardcore gamers. From 60 to 90fps I might tend to agree with you, even though there IS still a difference to be seen.

    • @vrexperience2696
      @vrexperience2696  7 років тому +4

      90fps is the threshold in VR where you see stuttering and motion sickness sets in generally.

    • @ParadiseDecay
      @ParadiseDecay 7 років тому +2

      thats a myth......

    • @vrexperience2696
      @vrexperience2696  7 років тому +5

      Its not a myth, I have done plenty of testing, more than most... anything below 90fps for a split second will result is bad stuttering. Reprojection helps but only for very brief periods.

    • @ParadiseDecay
      @ParadiseDecay 7 років тому +5

      No I mean not being able to see the difference between 30 and 90 is a myth! :) A UA-camr actually did an experiment to show that it was possible to tell, plus scientist say we have no FPS limits, we basically see life through 'meat' vision.
