After playing ED for a couple of hours on my Vive, I watched your video and realised there's no way for someone who watches a UA-cam video to realise how VR really feels. The only way to know is to try it in real. ED in VR is mind blowing!
Nikolaos Tsarmpopoulos I'm strongly considering buying a HTC Vive for games like this. Would you say it's worth the money to own a Vive still? Do you ever get buyer's remorse?
In the control setting you can change the controls to match the HOTAS. Stick for pitch and rotation and hat switches other movements. Just move the circle onto the place you want to go and it works perfectly. It should be in the default controls for the X-55 but its not.
Of course, plenty of controls to use except its not very intuitive I find, not compared to the mouse after you have been using it for a while at least anyway :(
Good video. Not sure why there's not more hype about this for Vr compared with SC. As you said, this is an epic game. Map is ok with joystick after a bit but not as good as using a mouse surely Frontier could fix this easily.
I love your content. Quick questions. Do you think the rx480 can run elite dangerous in vr? Your guess. Also i hear in the HTC VIVE elite dangerous and project cars, the depth perception is close. Your thoughts......
The RX480 is supposed to be certified for VR but it is a very loose term. I think it should handle ED but without supersampling, you also have some options for quality which can help you out if it struggles a bit. The depth of ED is amazing on the VIVE, the cockpit feels spacious and full of depth, it feels like you could reach out and touch things. Project cars is a slightly different story, the scaling isn't correct for the interior and feels slightly odd but you do get used to it :)
M1KEYz Hello! I know your comment is from 2 years but heres some answers! 1. He could have some good graphics on the game and then recored it! 2. Record any VR game in fullscreen (not from your headset), If that does not work and you are using stram vr, use the headset viewer in the steamvr tab! Hope that helps!
IF yo have a VIVE open steam vr beta under the "view tab"...crank super sampling down to .65 or .75, target multiplier to 1.6 (the text file in the config folder), and image quality to 1.5, depth of field on ( i have no idea why people turn this off its amazing). environment ultra, shadows off, anti ali off, Ambient occlusion med, bloom med/high. My game looks so much better I could cry. I messed with these damn settings for months. Oh and in nvidias settings make sure pre rendered shaders are on, all cuda cores are available....just try it.... I am telling you it worked for me 5960K, 16GB DDR4, Nvidia 1080, HTC VIVE Reply
There is no view tab in my Steam VR and I know about the VR text file but I don't know what you mean when you say set image quality to 1.5, is that in the text file also?
I have "low vision". Is there any way with the Vive to lean into the cockpit displays in order to get closer to them in the virtual space? I can almost read the displays but is difficult. I have the field of view at the minimum. Any other settings I can try? I gather there is no zoom function in the virtual mode for lack of a better term. Thanks all!
I mirror everything to a seperate display that is captured at native VIVE resolution. It is a very difficult process for VR titles unfortunately, many titles cant be captured correctly at all without some tricks to work around the window layouts etc. You also need a hell of a lot of graphics card grunt to do it.
i have this problem that my frames drops to 44,7 and caps there. At precisely half. i can start out fine with 89,something fps and then i can leave the station and look back and boom 44,7 caped. or jumped to an astroid field bam 44,7 fps. it doesnt matter if i have it on ultra or low or vr low setting nothing. just caped. i have a 980ti and an i7, so i know its not my system. i can run the lab at 89-90 fps NO problem. any one know this problem or have a solution for it ?
I was in an asteroid field last night doing another video and I had some weird jumping with the physics, didn't happen the night before. I will confirm my FPS and let you know I have a 6700k and 980ti hybrid.
Check the graphics settings, there are some frame rate limit options, it sounds like one of those may be set and is bugging in some way. Also, what resolution are you running?

+Samfia Drangus Vive is cheaper now so yes it's worth it, I got mine a week ago, no regrets. It's amazing
5 minutes in. still intro.
Thanks for that, skippedy-skip
Cheers buddy :D
Here's a clicky : 6:00
Don't waste my time, dude. I came to see VR in action not just another youtube dreg.
I built a VR rig JUST to show this kind of stuff to people. UA-cam doesn't do it justice.

VRexperience agree
Elite looks great in VR but the sound design is also quite nice
Good honest video... thank you and subscribed!

Nice video man, keep it up
I play on mouse and keyboard and i still enjoy it but I agree you can't play in vr without proper flight controls
dude those joysticks are insaaane! What brand?
Saitek X-55 :)
Should work fine with a 1070 its similar to the 980Ti
Anything below 90fps will cause stuttering in VR and motion sickness very quickly.
90fps is the threshold in VR where you see stuttering and motion sickness sets in generally.

VRexperience thanks bro for replying. I love the channel
How did you record the footage in fullscreen with good video quality ? Great Video

Sorry Elite was already supporting Ocullus in the development phases from alpha and premium beta up to know

Have you tried it with Voice attack? that works amazing as well

The VIVE has full room tracking so you can lean forward, to the sides etc to see things closer. Super sampling will help also!
May be a stupid question but what is the Joystick Throttle combo?
Brand/Model etc
What are you using to record this? A separate computer or capture card? Or just all on one rig?

What is up with using 1/4 of the screen on those dang selfies!?!?!?!?!
If you actually more ahead it shrinks...
Ah, my bad, perfect size :)
What controllers / Joystick is he using,
Saitek x-55 :) X-56 is out now.
Hi!
Do you see the screen door effect in this game? how good or bad is it compared to other games?
Is it posssible to read text - or too "blury" ?
F12 Position reset
Literally says that in the video
its not an X52 hotas.

I have seen mine cap at 45fps also occasionally. Doesn't seem to effect the VR though?
Damn, i just bought and am downloading this game, then I hear an explosion in space? Can I still refund? :P jk
Hollander113 if you don't like hearing sound in space you can turn it off in the options
You talk too much about things that don't matter AT ALL
Andrew W good to know, will be sure to keep it up just for you
Tried it flight mechanics suck cant turn right or left. VR DOES NOT WORK!! Tkes abot 2 or 3 hours of work just to get it to run. this is TRASH
