@@psychokorp Good question. I went and bought 5 (all I think I'd need) due to them being on sale. A sale means that they will cost more eventually, which means they will still be around. All things I deduced, though you should get them now anyway. Treat it like powerplay and buy however many you think you will need now and call it done. The mats are very easy to get with the data being the only g5 and jameson's crash gives ez g5 data to trade and quick.
If I miss out on any more rewards, when I've put all the time and effort into clicking 'sign up' a day or less before the event ends, and sometimes even looking where the system is on galaxy map, I swear....
@@droplifter3435 No need for sarcasm. I'm simply glad there isn't a time restriction. When the original CG was going on, I was preoccupied with RL things and only learned of it after it was over. Just to answer the question, YES you can add an experimental effect. Mass Manager took my DBX with this drive from 69 to 72ly range. Just adding the drive took it from 66 to 69. Love it.
@@brianzchuk It's difficult to know where to start, I agree. Start with watching "how to" videos on upgrading. When I lived in Seattle I found an open box in my yard one day. I picked it up thinking it was trash but it was super heavy. Found a mug in there with a weird stopsign on it. It was from down-to-earth astronomy and addressed to my new neighbor. I brought it over to him and said welcome to the neighborhood. Then I moved to Mississippi and bought this game
Also great for combat builds that run over power. Set your FSD to a lower power priority to power off when weapons are deployed. If you get into a situation where you need to wake out in a hurry, the FSD only takes 2 seconds to come back online.
@@Kam1kaz3dreamer can you ? Is that still an option in the extra effects ? It would be better off with mass manager anyway i think its a terrible waste to armor it if that even works , because the double effect gives you slightly more range then normal grade 5 and it would ruin the range
@@danielstokker I really don't know if this actually applies or not, but I know there's a module that adds integrity to modules. Module Reinforcement Package (MRP) Class 1-5, D or E of each size available. "The D-rated MRP has low damage capacity but high absorption of module damage. It can absorb a large proportion of module damage each time over a short period before running out of damage capacity. The E-rated MRP has high damage capacity but low absorption. It can absorb a small proportion of damage each time over a long period before running out of damage capacity." I fit a 2E MRP to my stock FDL pve combat build, and when I pulled the tail of a pair of medium ships with fighters, I tactically re-located with around 60% total HP remaining, but none of my modules were below 90% integrity, and most were at 99%. Maybe that helps?
FYI, in Horizons 4.0 you won't see "Geographic Signals." Instead, you'll get a heat map overlaid on the surface. Land where highlighted and drive around.
For tellurium another way to collect is on planet orrere 2b of system orrere , its close to sol, there is a crashed site where there are 3 cargo racks u can collect there, its from a video I watched of yours way before where u showed how to collect tellurium, its still works.
And don't forget perform surface scan of this planet, there are geological deposits with many uncommon and rare materials. Last time I returned with +16 Plutonium. - for example :)

Thanks for the great info. Just started over on PC. Got one of these and put it in a Python and OMG what a difference! It makes it a fuel sipping, high tonnage, take what you want with you, medium pad beast. Fully kitted out, with over 200 tones of cargo and the only the FSD upgraded, still got over 25ly!
If you don’t mind traveling a bit, you can go to the edge of sanguineous rim and collect from crystalline shards. The wiki page has a list of places you can find them, and the first one is right on the edge and doesn’t even require you to go past the wall of permit locked regions.
Thanks for this, after an ~hour playing NASCAR at Dav's Hope, i was able to cash in and get 2 of these, one for my engineered Krait Phantom that can now hit over 71ly empty and a spare for future use.
You're a life saver. Im new to the game and just got myself to a Python. Looking to make it into a passenger build and saw I needed an engineered drive - well I haven't managed to get to far with Felicty yet so farming for this instead was much easier for me (and got a tone off exploration data to). Really useful video, great links and easy to use. Thank you, so much, from a new commander. o7. Edit: It also helped teach me a lot about how to find things - landing and using the SRV more and was just a massive extra learning experience. Farming and learning has never felt so fun.
Thanks dude, I've been trying to work out which one it was as it doesn't mention the extra effect on the left there. Now I know. Saved me much pottering and wondering :) Didn't help that I buggered off without it once I'd unlocked the thing because I was tired! Thank goodness for Inara, and your help. Hope you're enjoying your new HOTAS :) Can I ask what you think of this bit of forum chat: - For a class 4 FSD and lower, Deep Charge will net you slightly more range than Mass Manager. - For a class 5 FSD it mostly doesn't matter, both are super close to each other. - For a class 6 FSD or higher, Mass Manager nets you more range than Deep Charge. I suppose I can try both as you can overlay Exp options without losing the other two bonuses.
Thanks for the tip Astro. I should have thought about it a little more before I bought three of these. I was going to put one on the federal Corvette and one on the Anaconda, and after buying three I discovered those two ships require different size FSD. So anyway I put one on my krait Phantom and that increase the jump range from 63.64 to 66.57 so I'm happy with that.
I participated in the CG for the FSD and then bought 8 of them! :D My DBX, ASP X and the upcoming exploring Phantom are very happy with the acquisition :)
@@BespinGuard1 The CG was delivering Rare Goods to the galactic summit. Personally I only delivered Lavian Brandy. I could deliver 48 units (the maximum sold at Lave) in my long-range ASP X and I could do it in two jumps only. I also missed a couple of CG in the beginning when I was in the black, but at least I got lucky to the FSD now. Now I can return to the black :)
A lot is glossed over in this video, such as: How to find (human) technology brokers: Inara > Data > Search nearest > stations, and then choose Technology Broker as the station service. In the list, it will differentiate Human from Guardian in the first column. How to make abandoned settlements (like "Dav's Hope") appear. Google the name and find out which system/planet it's on. Approach that planet and scan it with DSS. The settlement name should then show up in your navigation list. Additionally, there's actually only about 6 materials items here at any one time, so you will need to relog several times to get the full amount of materials you need.
I've found out that most tutorials about elite dangerous on youtube especially from the most popular uploaders are, mediocre at best. They gloss over so much stuff. I don't know why there aren't any good uploaders for this game, most videos are way too old too. An update or two will invalidate all the methods for these tutorials too and for some reason they never mention how you can make use of your full FSD range from the route settings>deactivate discovery focus>enable cone boost (so you can overdrive your neutron jump). I think this info should be in every video, so many newcomers haven't even unchecked that, imagine if you had to jump 125 times to get to that farming HIP system. As these videos get invalidated youtube creators don't even put the effort to delete the video or at the very least put a disclaimer below. Just one guy with the guts to put some effort into making noteworthy tutorials could blow out all these channels out the water. They're like chatbots, they point to a way, but there's no way to know if you can reproduce the same results.
Hawkes gaming has the most amount of info, backed with gameplay examples on these topics, however I think ED is a dying game and people moved onto the bigger projects. I don't blame them but man, just put a disclaimer, a new title or change the thumbnail to whether the method still works or not. It feels like these videos are made for already existing pros.
Duuuude i watch a lot of your Videos and you put so much effort in it and explane things. You are such a great person thank you for your effort and time. :)
This is PERFECT for my new CMDR I made on Xbox. Having an FSD with that kind of range without having to do the engineers again is a big bonus. Just gotta get the materials, which shouldn't take too long. Meanwhile, on my PS4 CMDR, I just fitted it to my DBX and it has taken the range to nearly 74ly without mass manager.

I'm a huge fan of the module since it helps some of the smaller ships close the gap a bit to the Anaconda in terms of jump range. I'm really glad there is no class 6 variant of this though, the Anaconda is OP enough.
If they had gone with class 6 I think that would firmly have killed the aspx and dbx following. There wouldn’t be anything to explore with besides the conda
You know that reminds me of why I'm not a fan of the Anaconda, honestly that ship should have been balanced a long time ago but Frontier refuses to do it due to backlash. It honestly holds back every ship in the game from being better and it holds back any future ship from being better. That's why ships like to Type 10 end up being unremarkable is because the Anaconda does too much well.
@@manrightchea Exactly my thoughts. Anaconda and Cutter are probably the two most overpowered ships in the game. Frontier has mentioned they will be looking at a ship balance pass after Odyssey. Improved balance among ships sounds almost more exciting than new ships in my opinion, but we'll see if and when that happens.
@@bmwracer67 I agree honestly I don't even want new ships until they balance the Anaconda for the same exact reason we just talked about. Until the Anaconda gets a balance, any new large ship will be automatically outclassed. The ship should have a heavier hull mass. Makes no sense for a ship that large to weigh the same as an Alliance Challenger. It also has the highest overall effective DPS. It's got Superior convergence to the type 10 and slightly better hardpoint loadouts than the Vette. I mean it has a huge and three larges for God sakes, and each of them is right by the other for great convergence. Makes no sense even 2 huges and one large with poor placement underneath doesn't make up for three larges and a huge. Two mediums and two smalls in addition like it even needed that much..if they were going to give it all that they should have given it 1 medium and 2 small. . EVERY other ship especially future ships, will be mediocre until something is done about it. There's a reason Frontier will only make new medium and small ships. That's because they know any new Large ship is going to be an automatic disappointment. People think that means you can't afford one when you criticize it, I'm a multi billionaire many times over and I still can't stand the ship. The other Big 2 could have been much better and the Type 10 could have been a true 4th, but they refuse to do what they know they should have done a long time ago. Also if you look at it from a story standpoint it's basically like humanity regressed. For a 500-year-old freighter to be better than modern warships means that humanity regressed. That's the current canon right now, somehow the makers of a five century old freighter made better technology than the Federation and Empire. You know I've felt for a long time that the Cutter has no business being tankier than the Corvette overall. Now the Corvette is still _slightly_ more dangerous than the right hands, but not enough. Yes it has harder armor but it needs more hit points than 666 base. Cutter has more and much more shields, the maneuverability is the only thing that makes the Corvette more dangerous in the right hands. I also feel like the Corvette should have had a size 7 frame shift and not a size 6.
Looks like you can add experimental effects on top of that, I did that, my non fully engineered Phantom have now a max jump range of almost 70ly. Pushing to the limits the build you can pass 75ly max range. Awesome...
Grind Ho, Grind Ho, it's off to Grind we go! lol Wait, already did the grind and have enough for 5 of these. Awesome. Thank you Astro, another great video! :)
Ive been watching your videos for about a year (The Mighty Jingles spoke highly of you) and finally got in the game a month ago. Just used your guardian frame shift booster guide and this one's next. Thank you for all the info and entertainment. Infotainment?
My thoughts exactly. I’ll use it on an explorer build and maybe even a passenger build, but it takes a pretty big integrity hit that no one’s mentioning. Not a good fit for combat or even cargo ships that get shot at.
@@ysfsim never really thought about that. I have one already on a phantom with a afmu specifically for neutron highway. I’ll be watching fsd health a little closer on first run. Guess as long as afmu is good, it should be ok.
For tellurium go to Orrere system planet 2b there is a crashed ship which containers are outside but shoot those who aren't completely out of ground who look like box you will have 4 type of minerals which tellurium reset you got it pretty quickly got 26 in 15 minutes plus huge blue containers with palladium and other expensive minerals you can sell on station at less than 200 light years from Sol it worth it
I've got 5 of these special ones, 2 from community goals (3 bought as above) and actually is a bit of a swiss army knife FSD for a fair few ships, quite a jack of all trades. After a bit of testing, BD-09 956 system, 1st moon of the Major Ringed Gas Giant, when you go to that you should encounter 5 to 7 signal sources within 1 light second of each other (Yes I said One Light Second, about 40 seconds to each so a very short range test of this location). Once these have been investigated, jump out of the system then back in. These should yield around 4-6 materials per source x 5-7 sources x 3 per item = between 60 and 126 materials per jump in and out. Also Data Points tended to yield triple encoded's, mainly doubles but about 1 in 4 at least triple data dumps. Extremely useful. I've posted the list in a comment on the Hot Jupiter video so have a look if curious and try it out. Great Video, awesome as always, and today I am drinking from my.......SnowRunner Mug, I will be getting a DFYL Mug, You should do DFYL T-Shirts a hidden reminder to the Elite in the know crowd. Don't Forget Your Limpets might be too obvious to the masses.
To those who muck around the "it's a bad fit for a combat vessel" mantra, I'm not sure what you are all complaining about. A standard 5A comes with 120 Integrity. Long Range + Mass Manager reduces that to 94. The "Super" version of the 5A showcased here comes at an integrity of 84 but with MORE jump range than a 5A long range + mass manager. Hence you can slap on a "double braced" experimental, still have a longer jump range, but more integrity for a total of 105. That means it beats your old 5A Long range + Mass Manager in BOTH areas, jump range and integrity. You do understand you don't *HAVE* to put Mass Manager on to it if you want to fit it to a combat ship, right? And if you really need all that integrity you can get your hands on, then you don't care about jump range anyway, because you are flying Shielded + double braced. Depending on your loadout maybe even B type. With the advent of Carriers, FSD drives on field-combat ships have become curiously less relevant. Grabbing your carrier with your fleet on top of it, flying to whatever combat you currently feel like, directly in system, means you don't even need to bother to use your FSD for jumping. Hence you can run shielded or fast boot + double braced all day, and even downgrade in order to save weight without sacrificing integrity based on what you had before to have a balance between integrity and jump range. Of course, at this point the question becomes how skilled an experienced a pilot you are that you have to rely on a half broken FSD during fight, and actually think you can get out there just fine. The moment you're mass locked from a bigger ship, and you can't get out of the 4500m mass lock radius, you're dead meat anyway, no matter how much beating your FSD can take if your base hull will be shredded long before that. But that's beside the point.
Not sure if I wish I was good enough at Elite to even understand everything you wrote, or kind enough to write a helpful and complete comment trying to help people who likely wouldn't consider any other viewpoint than their current one. @@droplifter3435 aww man, that's kind of you :) Also, considering I'm not a native english speaker, some of my phrasings might have made my explanations more confusing than they should be. At the end of the day, I'm a filthy casual in Elite. Comparisons like these really only come down to simple math and situational awareness, aka "what can I do with the tools I can get?" It's just a little outside the box thinking. And I'm also giving my appreciation to channels and creators like DTEA here. They invest their time because they want to give their community something of value, something they felt was worth sharing. In return, I think it's only fair to share something back, especially if I havn't seen certain thoughts tackled yet :) Plus, like you correctly mentioned, contributing more hopefully gives the "youtube background simulation" more favorable bits for our favourite Dangerous Dane :)
I used to get DWEs with a wake scanner, but it was infuriating how rare they were. Now, if I need a stock of any encoded mat I just go to the Jameson Crash Site, farm for 15 minutes to max out my Adaptive Encryptors Capture storage, and cross trade for DWEs. It'll probably take less time to pop out to Jameson and come back than it will to scan enough wakes for 18 DWEs. There's no guarantee that you'll find a system in famine, whereas Jameson is persistent. Plus, you'll have additional AECs to trade for other encoded mats.
@@anthonycurtis3562 Deep charge can get you in to trouble due to the extra fuel used. It is usually only for niche builds. Class 5 or not, Mass Manager is generally the way to go for the experimental effect.
@@danielstokker It's not worth it to look for Arsenic as it's much quite rare. It's best to get the Grade 5 version of a raw material and trade down at the Material Trader. There's a couple ways you can do this. In my opinion I think the best way is to get other grade 5 raw materials and then trade down for Arsenic even if you have to cross trade. For example if you spend some time at the Crystal Shard sites or the crashed Anacondas, you can load up on a lot of grade five raw materials easily. For instance max out something like Tellurium and cross trade down for Arsenic. Even though you'll get less per each one than if you had Polonium to trade, it'll still be worth it because you're getting multiple for each one. For instance let's say one Polonium trades directly for 6 Arsenic *(I'm not looking I'm just using this as an example it might not be six)* Well one Tellurium might trade for 3 Arsenic since it's a cross trade. even so it's still a better option than looking for a manually because you're getting multiple for each one and it's a lot easier to find Tellurium or Zirconium. Do you get what I'm saying?
@@manrightchea You speak the truth; it's often less time consuming to go with things that are easier to attain and just trade them in. Problem is, many a people don't see that because they think "well but I have to TRADE IN, so I am doing a loss, so I rather search the thing on my own" without knowing a point of reference. To further prove your point: Arsenic -> Mercury -> Polonium in the same row. So you get 9 Arsenic for 1 Polonium, and 3 for one mercury. From other rows, you trade Arsenic in a 2:3 ratio from other grade 4 materials. And then you can find planets which have all three of these materials, including geological signals. So that's a triple win, because you can trade everything down, if you so desire, for the fastest coverage. I do wonder though what arsenic has to do with anything in this context, because the level 5 drive covered in this video comes PRE-ENGINEERED and neither Mass Manager nor Deep Charge experimental needs Arsenic, so the person you answered to maybe got a bit confused or talked about other FSD sizes. I still think Arsenic has always been an easy material to get. Your info is relevant either way though :) with a minor correction; there are no grade 5 raw materials, only 1 to 4.
@@Khunvyel Oh yeah my bad I forgot about the Grade 4 thing on raw materials lol. Yeah I think he might be a newer player which there's nothing wrong with asking, it's better to ask than to not know. He could buy the drive and the video but there are some times where it might not be a good idea. Due to the integrity I wouldn't put one in a combat ship I'd rather keep the integrity and be able to use another hull reinforcement that a module reinforcement. That's just me though. You also have to keep in mind Arsenic necessary for the Reinforced shield generator.so if you want to make a meta Prismatic or Bi-Weave for instance.. Also right now it's still necessary for every other size but 5. Since this new drive is only a size 5. It's better right now but eventually after Thursday it's going to be a lot more expensive to buy this drive. Thing is though just avoiding the grinding along makes it worth the price even at the higher price IMO. That's why I went ahead and bought plenty of them lol. Arsenic was never terribly difficult to find but it had a low enough drop rate where I felt like I just never found it back in the day. Like other people were lucky, but I didn't seem to have good luck finding it so I was glad when we could trade for it. that's basically what I've been doing the past couple days is just trying to max out materials and data. Make myself max it once and for all so I never come back again. You probably know how it is being an old head on this game. You start running out of motivation..
Thx for the video! Don´t know this module exists. Bought 2 pieces, one for store, the other for my Asp. Tomorrow i fly to deciat for Mass Manager effect.
This took my dbx with full a rated modules and weapons but no engineering from 32 to 52 lyr jump range and took my unengineered combat built krait mk2 from 16 to 27 lyr
I squeezed 66ly out of my dbx engineered, 60 on my orca, 58 on my dolphin and 51 on my beluga. All builds have 2 srv repair limped, afm and guardian boosters, no weapons and only one heat sink as utility.
I got 1 free from my rare goods CG run and bought 2 for my explorers. My DBX now got 76.2 ly jump range. My Python up to 30ly without booster, full miner build with shield and weapons to take care of gankers.
Why would you prefer deep charge over Mass Manager? Through all the different ship sizes I engineered, in no scenario deep charge came out on top in terms of range. Maybe for extremely weird niche builds, but I havn't come across any so far.
No evry fsd level 4 and below gets better range with deep charge 5 and above mass management and in your scenario you were probebly not messing with smaller ships
@@danielstokker I was. My DBX, ASPE, Imperial Courier, Vulture, Dolphin and Hauler always jump further with Mass Manager. My Federal Corvette, Imperial Cutter, Anaconda and even T10 all jump further with mass Manager instead of Deep Charge too. This is why I said, it might have something to do with certain stages of mass, which is why I wanted to know with which kinds of builds these tipping points occur. Even when Deep Charge crept really close to the jump range of Mass Manager, I had noticeably less fuel in the tank after a few jumps. @@danielstokker Without wanting to insult, I am preferring personal tests to some facebook posts of people who regurgitate things without second guessing them :) Especially since sometimes it's just old information being repeated ad nauseum. I do not rely blindly on Edsy and Coriolis, I also do tests on my own because I have learned often enough that third party tools are not always trustworthy. Sometimes not even the ingame info is, as tooltips are sometimes not giving correctly calculated information. This is why I asked the question. Edsy, coriolis and ingame information always tell me the same story, regardless of a small ship that is below minimum thruster tonnage, small ships that are packed heavy, large ships which are at the edge of possibility like an 80 LY Jumpaconda or a fat B-fitted Imperial Cutter or Corvette. Mass Manager wins. That is why I want to know which builds on which ships people specifically use where you jump further with Deep Charge. I want to see the links of these builds to verify that on my own. Because from where I am, I simply can not in good conscience agree to the statement that Deep charge is better on small ships. My ingame info speaks against it, Edsy and Coriolis speak against it too. Therefore, I ask for explanation and specific builds. Not a thousand reposts of he-said-she-said :) Also, if it's only 80% of the community, it means there is no unified consensus :P
I just decided to get back into Elite.. my hotas should be here by Friday. It's going to cost me a couple extra engineering materials to get this stupid FSD boost... Just kidding, great video! I wish I'd known about this sooner although timing with ordering my hotas and this event ending would not have changed anything 🤷🏻♂️.
I’ve ran around Davs Hope 5 times now and haven’t come across one Chem Pro or Electrochems. Was this changed? Is the website used to search for mats no longer updated?
for all trying to follow this today, you have to find the crystals in Horizons, Odyssey has an entirely (arguably worse) system for gathering the tellerium.
How is it different in Odyssey? I landed on a Tellerium 1.7% system… and I can’t find needle crystals anywhere (just Piceous cobble and Crystaline something).
Just stumbled across this fantastic video. Is this still in the game? Are there any overall progression/rank/unlock requirements for me to be able to collect the materials and the module from a technology broker? I have yet to even obtain the Guardian FSD, so I am looking for a straightforward way to boost my jump range.
Great video. I just acquired one of these and it has added 2 light years to my jump. Would I be able to add the engineer effect mass manager to this FSD and get a little more jump range?
@@athaphian Thanks for letting me know and great to hear that. Did you see a big increase in jump range? I have to wait to the weekend to get mass manager added.
Got 2 of them . 1 for my DBX and 1 for my Orca . DBX has gone from 70ly max to a 76.6 ly max . Orca went from 50 ly max to 54.5 ly . That is with just fitting the drive. Further build / and engineering might get to 80 ly on the DBX . Witha stripped build I could get 75 ly max with a normal engineered drive . 80 ly is Anaconda territory

Noob question, for the Tellurium part, when he says we need to "map" the planet, does that mean I need to bring along a DSS and map the planet before going down or else those nodes won't show up on my Contact Panel? Thanks
Was there some patch to make planetary material gathering as unrewarding as possible? I have spent 3-4 hours on 3 different planets, using the exact eddb search shown in this video, and haven't found a single Tellurium deposit. These are all barren wasteland planets. No "geological" anything. Only VERY rare iron, sulphur, phosphorus, molybdemum.
Why does volcanism matter in the case of Tellurium? EDDB is reporting tellurium of 1.6% in the system I'm in, but there is no volcanism on that planet. Would that matter if I go there?
You can't put Faster Boot Sequence on top the pre-existing Increased Range modification, it will overwrite it. If at the time of the video it worked I won't complain, but as of now it's definitely not possible.
This video may need an update as some are complaining after the update Dav's hope doesn't exist anymore. (I found it without a scanner & OMG it took forever to get the coordinates right!) On a side note you could of warned us about that restricted area that is with in eyesight of this location as it (the weapons there) almost blew my ship up when I took off.
@@MrTimjm009 I hope not, its one of if not the best locations to farm. But the Devs said they were completely overhauling planet surfaces so I don't think it will stay.
@@dontmindme.justaguy well, we still have Hot Jupiter and those Crystals you'll be missing out on can be gathered from Robigo passenger missions, that way you get them at grade 5 and can downtrade.
I just can't get those "Geological Signal" to appear. Since this predates Odyssey, does these locations still exist? Also when trying to locate Dav's Hope, I find it extremely difficult. Riding around in orbit doesn't make it show up, nor does shooting probes at the planet make it appear. I've found the location once, when it (for some reason showed up on the map) and once by painstakingly riding in orbit going by the coordinates. So I guess that by me not finding those "Geological Signals" also makes me unable to find the "Needle Crystals"?

Also great for combat builds that run over power. Set your FSD to a lower power priority to power off when weapons are deployed. If you get into a situation where you need to wake out in a hurry, the FSD only takes 2 seconds to come back online.
The only downside of it is when a pirate coughs on it its down 33% in intergrety in an instant
@@danielstokker you can armor your modules
@@Kam1kaz3dreamer can you ? Is that still an option in the extra effects ? It would be better off with mass manager anyway i think its a terrible waste to armor it if that even works , because the double effect gives you slightly more range then normal grade 5 and it would ruin the range

Thanks for this, after an ~hour playing NASCAR at Dav's Hope, i was able to cash in and get 2 of these, one for my engineered Krait Phantom that can now hit over 71ly empty and a spare for future use.
Astro, thanks so much for clarifying the additional jump bonus as I only thought it was double engineered with an arguably useless better boot up.
Thank you, so much, from a new commander. o7. Can I ask what you think of this bit of forum chat:
- For a class 4 FSD and lower, Deep Charge will net you slightly more range than Mass Manager.
- For a class 5 FSD it mostly doesn't matter, both are super close to each other.
- For a class 6 FSD or higher, Mass Manager nets you more range than Deep Charge.
I suppose I can try both as you can overlay Exp options without losing the other two bonuses.
Oh wow, just got this and went from 66 to 71 ly jumps, nice!

Care to share your build
@@ApairOfNoobz Yeah. Will do a video tomorrow with this ship and will give full breakdown.
@@ApairOfNoobz Hi, I have posted a video of my Asp explorer build if you're interested.
A lot is glossed over in this video, such as:
How to find (human) technology brokers: Inara > Data > Search nearest > stations, and then choose Technology Broker as the station service.

This will be great to outfit my DBX for exploring pretty soon.

My thoughts exactly. I’ll use it on an explorer build and maybe even a passenger build, but it takes a pretty big integrity hit that no one’s mentioning. Not a good fit for combat or even cargo ships that get shot at.

oh well, gotta leave my odyssey expedition to get that.

Fsd mats are one of the easiest mats to collect. Im always looking for a way to dump them by trading in with other types
@@khatziOG im having trouble finding arsenic tho you need that for tier level 5 upgrade
For instance let's say one Polonium trades directly for 6 Arsenic *(I'm not looking I'm just using this as an example it might not be six)*
Well one Tellurium might trade for 3 Arsenic since it's a cross trade. even so it's still a better option than looking for a manually because you're getting multiple for each one and it's a lot easier to find Tellurium or Zirconium.
To further prove your point:
Arsenic -> Mercury -> Polonium in the same row.

I've been to multiple tec brokers and it doesn't show the fsd v1 just all the guardian stuff. Am I missing something?
Same issue
If it shows guardian tech your at a guardian broker, you need a human broker.
@@no1baggiefan thanks! That’s solved it 👍
Went from 40ly to 65ly, definitely worth it.
So, what was your jump range in lightyears before and after fitting this FSD?
Still waiting for an answer ;-)
I got 1 free from my rare goods CG run and bought 2 for my explorers. My DBX now got 76.2 ly jump range. My Python up to 30ly without booster, full miner build with shield and weapons to take care of gankers.
Thankyou for this video
Great.... I just finished engineering my Krait FSD(just got back into elite) and then I have to restart to get this :D
Well at least you don't need to engineer this one!
Ugh I just spent the last two days engineering all of my FSD’s
Me too but this is totally worth it, especially at this price. Farming this is really just a single evening. Totally worth
@@nathanstrong4359 yep I agree. I got mine and am now grinding for the fsd booster.
Are all the sites still working? Inara, eddb and cmdr tools?
Rats. I miss the discount! Will there be another discount later on?
What would the jump range if you add deep space experimental effect?
Thanks for the info. I was trying to find it after the event. No dice I can't wait to get home and go get one.
Thanks for the Vid, my Phantom thanks you :)
I've triplechecked with edsy and coriolis through all my ships and in my setups, Mass Manager always wins over Deep Charge.
@@Khunvyel check it again 80% of the community advised me this dont tell me a few thousand people on facebook are stupid your simply making a mistake look it up ahain im really sure
@@Khunvyel lmao sure pal so 80 % of the community is stupid 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cheers , got me a bunch of em today and found a thargoid signal rich planet on the way back....
I don't have the cargo space (28+26+26+18=98) for all of the materials. Can I make more than one trip to the Technology Broker?
Materials don't take cargo space
Great video great information thank you 🙏
Thanks for this Video, didn’t know this.😀
This nice module is only class 5? no bigger ones?
I’ve ran around Davs Hope 5 times now and haven’t come across one Chem Pro or Electrochems. Was this changed? Is the website used to search for mats no longer updated?
Thanks for the info on the current discount! You can buy now and stock it, right?
for all trying to follow this today, you have to find the crystals in Horizons, Odyssey has an entirely (arguably worse) system for gathering the tellerium.
Yes, this is possible. Works like a charm.
@@athaphian Thanks for letting me know and great to hear that. Did you see a big increase in jump range? I have to wait to the weekend to get mass manager added.
@@chuckles3079 It was not a huge, but still significant improvement on my asp. I got it to 68.something LY now.
@@athaphian Nice jump range! See ya out in the black. o7
Geological signals no longer in navigation since Odyssey release
What do we do now then? Is there something else I should look for?
@@samclarke7147 it’s like a heat map now but that still wasn’t super clear what was ‘hot’ so I just did bounty hunting to collect what I could then exchanged with a Material Trader
@2:32 "future Astro here" Hahahaha nice
Just noticed this module at a station in CEOS. Am working to get the mats. I want the Thargoid bobblehead too lol!
Since when is this module available? I didn't notice it!
Noob question, for the Tellurium part, when he says we need to "map" the planet, does that mean I need to bring along a DSS and map the planet before going down or else those nodes won't show up on my Contact Panel? Thanks
Yes
@@DowntoEarthAstronomy Thank you so much for your reply.
Great video, Good to know info.
methinks there is a bug with these FSD's talked about here...I bought/fitted one however it appears to be a bog standard FSD???
eddb, sadly, is gone. Is there a replacement for mining?
Why does volcanism matter in the case of Tellurium? EDDB is reporting tellurium of 1.6% in the system I'm in, but there is no volcanism on that planet. Would that matter if I go there?
Missed this before the price went up - can you get it at any tech broker?
You can't put Faster Boot Sequence on top the pre-existing Increased Range modification, it will overwrite it. If at the time of the video it worked I won't complain, but as of now it's definitely not possible.
watch the video again, this drive comes like that, you dont make it.
Nice new Intro 🔥
This video may need an update as some are complaining after the update Dav's hope doesn't exist anymore. (I found it without a scanner & OMG it took forever to get the coordinates right!)
On a side note you could of warned us about that restricted area that is with in eyesight of this location as it (the weapons there) almost blew my ship up when I took off.
Dav's Hope is in a completely different location in Odyssey. It's still on planet A5, but at coords: 50.5397, 137.4168.
@@happyspaceinvader508damn, just downgraded to Odyssey, Ill upgrade the spreadsheet, thanks
This reminds me, wont Dave's Hope be gone when Odyssey comes out?
better not be
@@MrTimjm009 I hope not, its one of if not the best locations to farm.
So I guess that by me not finding those "Geological Signals" also makes me unable to find the "Needle Crystals"?
did you figure this out? was going to try it until i saw this comment
@@rhettbryan7520 Probe a planet with a scanner to 100% then enter its orbit and it will bring up its geo signals on the right nav menu

Are there other items like this (maybe from similar past events) that newer players (me) wouldn't know about?
only a missile launcher. but i think we will get more in future event
@@DowntoEarthAstronomy Thanks. I found that once I got to the tech broker. Wasn't something I had really dug into yet.
This will push my lightweight DBX to downright stupid jump ranges!
I fitted one of these to my Asp explorer... and it's unusable as every time I frame shift it pushes my thermal load to 125% 😕
Fixed the overheating issue by fitting a smaller power plant... Happy now 🙂
