How does House Beneviento and Final Scenes Work Off Camera - Resident Evil Village

- For me the creepiest part of Resident Evil Village was definitely House Beneviento, just one of the locations we'll be taking a look out of bounds of in this video. Also we'll be taking a look at how Baby works off camera, cutscenes and animations from different camera angles and going behind the scenes to find out who the mystery person during the ending is!

The fact that his full model is there plus the bandages means it has to actually be him, the other reason being he can't die.

Could of possibly be some sort of scrapped thing, such as a ending before the one we got but they kept it in for some reason. Aswell as it could be some early model they had no plans for to use
Ethan's face has always been greyface NPC meme to me, and its nice to know his actual face isnt that far off.
Its called the Wojack and it was developed due to how the NPC's are constantly contradicting what they preach (i.e. racism is bad - let's fight racism with racism - because surely spreading gas helps fight fires right)

Placing textures in front of the camera to create the illusion that the water is murky, and manipulating the walls to create the illusion the elevator is still moving is bloody clever from a game development and technical standpoint.
Allowing for a level of visual clarity and quality similar to pre-rendered cutscenes but in engine, without causing any undue stress on hardware.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ethan's model at the end is just a stand-in for a charcter that isn't in the game but I do find it interesting that they don't just use the default Ethan model, it's specifically the jacketless, crystalised Ethan

The tricks the Devs employ to give us certain illusions will always be a joy to me
honestly i’m surprised they even had anything on his phone, though it probably is easier and less time-consuming it make it the same
No point in making multiple models for a phone if most of the time you never see the screen.
Yea, me animating something like this would be trying to get as much out of every model I could. They get away with this a lot in these games because they control your view so strictly so often

Same. RE7 still uses pre-rendered cutscenes here and there. Pretty surprised they did it in real time for most (if not all) in Village.

how can anyone even think that? the graphics looks the same, and games most of the time don´t even use prerenders. usually they don´t have any reason to..
@@basseman4239 It's more reliable to be pre-rendered. Doing stuff in engine always runs the risk of something going wrong. But yeah in general it's usually better these days to just do it in engine. Pre-rendered scenes tend to go a bit wonky with resolution differences etc.

is very likely Ethan's being used for the mysterious figure was a placeholder, but I would be very surprised if that is confirmed to be Ethan on whatever is next for Resident Evil
Why would that be anyone but Ethan? A basic understanding of storytelling should make it pretty clear that's Ethan.

If it really is Ethan. Then my theory is that the explosion did killed him, but he was somehow absorbed by what was remaining of the mold colony of the Village.
And it took years for him to "grow" the mycete needed to regenerate himself.
But I may just be full of it and it's not Ethan and just indeed a placeholder.
I had this idea from two things :
1 : Mia telling about how special Ethan is. Just HOW Special he is ?
2 : Eveline. If she managed to survive as a "saved file" into Ethan's body which has assimilated the E-Serie mold. Then Ethan's could do the same with the mycete colony of the Village.
Just a theory tough.
@@sentinel8534 My immediate theory was that he's an afterimage only Rose can see. We're in her perspective for that scene, and she seems to indicate that she knows her father more than just a story she was told growing up.
Given that she is a half-mold/human hybrid (since Ethan was already a mold creature when Rose was born), it makes sense to me that she would still be able to see and interact with other mold beings, just like Ethan could see Evangeline throughout 7 and for the one scene in Village.

What I love about horror games is how the protagonist enters the place where the game takes place, all the horrifying things happening around the protagonist from death, to the protagonist getting badly hurt and the ending.
The endings are always something that I love about horror games, we see the protagonist after everything they went through and whether they manage to escape or not.
Re8 did all of that and I couldn't be more happier.
I really like how re8 tore up ethan, like most games just have one event then they add a bunch of dirty and battle damage, but re8 actually had individual things happen, until it'd actually make sense why he's that messed up and dirty by the end
The endings either tie the story together in a really satisfying way or kill an important character in an unfair yet emotional way
This isn't actually out-of-bounds, but when you look at the waterfall while crossing the bridge to Heisenberg's factory you'll notice Beneviento's house isn't there.
Awesome. It makes me wonder if they put things like the face under the helmet and Ethan's face into the game so they can be discovered.
I don't know why but watching the baby move at super-speed make me laugh hysterically.

Finally we see his face. The whole never showing it thing was so ridiculous, even more so at the end when they just had him comically looking at his feet like that. Made me roll my eyes so hard.

Actually we know Ethans face since RE7 at the Ship Scene, at the Mold you could see his face with a debug camera

Never understood why not seeing his face bothered everyone so much. The missing head thing is due to making sure the model doesn't clip into the camera view. As for not seeing his face in any 3rd person scenes, was it really that important to know what he looked like?
@@snyperwulffgaming9575 I think the main issue people have is the lengths they go to just to make sure you don’t see it. It isn’t as blatant in RE7, but here it’s just stupid. Everyone knows what he looks like thanks to camera hacks, so you might as well just put it in there. Plus, it seems like a lot of unnecessary work to position the camera exactly where you wouldn’t see his face for a good…idk 3 or 4 different specific shots that they did for the cutscene on the bridge at the end. Just…why?

Also nice to see the bridge at the end, when Ethan says goodbye, it's in repeat. I did notice this myself in the game, so that was sweet to see I noticed right.
Perhaps Ethen was the mystery man because somehow his mold survived the explosion. Think about it, would Evelyn really let him go that easy? She wants to torment the guy for what he did in Louisiana. Either that, or the devs thought it would be a funny Easter egg

I would like to see in that room as it may have been intended as an extra puzzle area that was scrapped. Doors are pretty complicated so maybe they just thought it’s easier to put boxes to keep the player out??
It leads to a blank room but the windows still look outside

The level of detail Capcom added to the game, even when they (arguably) didn't 'have' to, is amazing. Great job SS.
Knew it was Ethan! Caught onto it after the guard called rose evaline, for those who didn't know the main source of Ethan's survival was evaline after she made him mold, is rose so powerful that she's capable of keeping her father alive and the umbrella buried the bioweapon soldier and lied to rose about her father's death?
I think that after the explosion Ethan was so weak that he wasn't able to regenerate for years, so for all intents and purposes he was dead to everyone that knew him. By the time Rose was older and had more control of her powers, maybe that somehow kick-started Ethan's own powers and he started regrowing his body before finding her in the final cutscene
I have to say, your camerawork is PHENOMENAL!
I had a theory that because Ethan was made of mold he didn't die in the explosion and would make an appearance in whatever the next instalment of the story is gonna be as maybe the main villian or for shock factor the fact that he's the mystery guy in the final cutscene solidifies that idea for me
I'm not too sure. I thought the mold is totally gone and desintegrated. But then again, how is Ethan's jacket still intact? I'm sure his clothes are also made of mold. No wonder the right wrist part doesn't come off even after getting sliced.
@@thelaw_00 Well as a theory it could be Rose was the reason ethans hand disintegrated and so since he didn't hold for for too long he may have survived. And due to the damage, it probably took him years to regenerate.

Sadly, Capcom has announced that with the release of the "Shadow of Rose" DLC, the Winters' story is concluded. It's a shame, as I found Ethan and his story to be much more relatable than any of the main characters in the franchise...and I say that as someone who has been playing since the original back in '97!

Interesting that Ethan's model is used in the ending scene with Rose. Was it just due to convenience so they didn't have to make another model? Or is it hinting at something.... that somehow Ethan survived? Or something more sinister?

It wouldn't really make much sense to have them visit his grave then drive right towards him and not stop/say anything.
I'm pretty sure it's both for convenience and for closure. i.e. Ethan, after being battered and mutilated on his journey to save his family, is finally able to rest (seeing as he's walking towards his grave). If you look he's wearing the same clothes/has the same wounds he had at the time of his death... and keep in mind it's been years (?) at that point, seeing as Rosemarie is now a teenager. Though I'm not sure if that's because she's technically a Mold monster like Eveline was; and iirc Eveline was genetically modified to have accelerated aging.

That's fascinating about the baby monster changing the position in the lift, as I'm sure in that moment for me I was constantly facing the baby and holding down so I'd go right into the lift when it opened. However I'd screwed up calling the lift, so he was probably as close as he needed to be

Today ur out of bond video was awesome because didn't work today and really like the ending. HOPE they keep making more RE GAMES in further future. I'm just glad I was able to play all resident evil games from 1-8 (not 0 or the original re3 for the N64 JUST PLAYED THE REMAKE) HOPE THAT BY RE9 WE get to see or hear about other team we been with on the game series

While it would be interesting to see there be some significance for Ethan's model being used in the epilogue, I'd imagine it was just done since he had the most "normal" outfit of any character, even though they would be viewed from so far away that it's impossible to discern much without the camera hacking. Still, that could make for an interesting scene if Rose's game continues right from the epilogue, with her thinking she's seeing her father walking by before just realizing it was her imagination or something to that effect.

Every first person game removes the characters head from the player pov if its an online shooter then there is a separate model that only other people can see so you actually have a head there.

In that game if you look down you don't have any legs so the devs didn't wanna waste resources with a whole character model. Not sure if it's the same with doom 2016 or not but atleast for enteral that's how it is.

I’d REALLY like to see Miranda’s building at the end that shows up. The mold I understand, but it’s looks like a huge fortress just appears that Chris blows up.
Some of the elevators felt like they took forever. I understand it being a loading zone to import the new areas and the assets associated with them, but man, knowing that it's faked makes it feel even worse. An actual ten second ride taking that much longer.

Probably he became a literal cyborg.
My theory about Ethan at the very end, was that there was a planned scene at the end where Rosemary "imagines" him walking past the car as she drives away. This would have been the first time we get to see his face. Sort of a character farewell. I think it was cut, though, but they still kept ethan in there. Probably thought no one would ever see him, and attribute it to a random character walking.
I'm really curious about this. The first time I saw it I immediately thought "Oh no who is that walking toward them" and I think that the car actually stops when nearing him at the very end of the scene. And now you can also see that Ethan has a pretty determined walk. Can't wait for RE9!
It's an interesting theory, but the fact that the vehicle stops instead of keeps going says it wasn't going to be like that. The driver either notices Ethan or Rose tells him to stop. I'm curious as to what they're going to do as the model was either used out of convenience or had a specific purpose.

6:47 something similar was done in world of warcraft : Warlords of draenor where you are on a moving train (a dungeon) and in order to make it like the train is moving in a huge valley while you fight your way through to the front its actually the land that moves ! pretty clever and sneaky

I think Ethan escaped, while Chris ran off with rose, there was little time until the explosion, my guess is that ethan had enough time to escape the village before it exploded, and I think he may have been walking for maybe years, or was somewhere, but then again the gravestone is there, maybe it was rose hallucinating him?
gravestone does not equal body. From a lore point of view, id say it just took ethan that long to regenerate and/or make it there. from a bit of a mix of lore/gameplay POV, Id say that this was either put in as an easter egg for something in an upcoming game, or they used his model due to a planned scene in the ending that they then scrapped.
If it was just a random model as a placeholder, I dont see why it would be ethan as he should be at that point in time

Hello! I have been asking around a couple channels now asking if they could put a free cam scan around the outside of house beneviento in their videos. So far been declined so I was wondering whether you would be willing? Just looking around the outside of house beneviento in free cam mode to give me some more angles, especially around the back nearest the waterfall if possible. Only cause I am looking to make the house in minecraft but it simply wouldn't be possible without a couple extra angles to work from, dw if you cant np :)
