*Second rebirth. 4st was RE4. Not sure how they screwed up with 5 and 6 . But they did. Revelations were ok, but the second one seems to infringe too heavily on the evil within. With that being said , I like village more. Soemthing about that re4 nostalgia..
@@cactusmann5542 5 and 6 followed a lame story, just started getting meh. Take resident evil out of re 5 and it's a great co op couch game. For carrying the name it didn't feel right. 6 was just a mistake
my GPU isn't even rated for RE7 (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650, I did run the game at a lowered resolution, though but with medium settings), and it still ran at 60 frames no drops, that just shows to me how well they built the game. Few lag spikes here and there inbetween loading screens but I really can't complain when i'm running a machine that's below minimum system requirements.
The engine itself, since it's amazing just how fast it can render amazing graphics. It also allows you to play through the entire games it's used in without seeing any loading screen during gameplay
re7 was legitimately terrifying for me, just the atmosphere and everything, yeah i get scared from time to time from the rest of the series but not as much as re7, it makes it so much better as a horror game tbh
I downloaded RE7 a few nights ago and finished my first play through early this morning, what a frickin game!!!! honestly one of my favorite games ever. An absolute masterpiece of a horror game, i want to give a slight edge to outlast but this game caught me by surprise.
The quote at the end from Jun Takeuchi almost made me shed a tear. You can see the work and love that went into Resident Evil 7. It's a work of art. I wonder how he feels about RE8 scaling back the survival/horror elements.
Resident Evil scaled back the survival horror element long ago. 7 and 8 aren’t even Resident Evil. Just because you add a Resident Evil character in a minor supporting/cameo role doesn’t mean it’s Resident Evil. The series is dead. Might as well do a full reboot at this point.
@@kevinwebster7868 Damn that's a cynical take on it. And that's coming from someone who's loyal to the OG trilogy. RE7 moreso than 8 felt like an RE game to me that was just missing the actual zombies.
@@kevinwebster7868 I'll be the first to admit that I never played anything before 7. What i can say is I'm a big horror fan and 7 and 8 are amazing horror titles. I honestly know how you feel as a halo fan so I'd say they should just disconnect the story from re and make a new original ip. If it doesn't play or look like re anymore just make it its own thing because i can tell you that the gameplay and experience is top notch
@@kevinwebster7868 This right here is why game franchises stagnate. 7 and 8 are absolutely resident evil games 100% from top to bottom. Point 1: Gameplay. The gameplay in both is immediately recognizable to anyone who’s played RE before. The way the map functions, the puzzles, the way you save ammo for your big guns and have to decide when it’s ok to use bullets or when you can get away with a melee cheese. The shop, the upgrade system, and the bosses are also very classic RE. Point 2: The environment. The Baker Estate and the Village once again pull off that same feel that only Resident Evil is really known for. Exploring these places is dark and grim, but they still manage to make you wonder why and how they exist. Every nook and cranny had a purpose, or something that will help you along your journey, so that exploration is properly rewarded. And often times they tease you with strange locked doors or pathways that you’ll always wonder when you get to crack open. What I’m saying is, not every Resident Evil game needs to be set in Raccoon city following a mainstay character protagonist. The franchise was on its last leg, and this kind of course correction was desperately needed. It’s new and it’s fresh, while still being true to RE. Essentially what I’m trying to say is, you’re just flat out wrong.
I was introduced to the RE universe thanks to RE 7! Played Village after that one and then decided to give a shot to the remakes. I ended up playing all of them and it became one of my favorite franchises
Play RE HD remaster, RE2 remake and RE3 nemesis 1999 If you want to play RE3, don't play the remake one, the original is far far better, don't know how they messed it up so much honestly 🤣
I'd still reccomend grabbing RE3make when it's on sale since it is really fun, just totally not for the 60$ price tag. It feels more like an over-the-top DLC for RE2make than a full game, but it's still pretty much enjoyable.
@@Rikhard9 of course, it's a 1999 video game, honestly the RE3 remake just needed to stick to the original as much as possible and it's going to be a good game, but they somehow messed that up But honestly I still find the original far better than the remake, it's a shame since I really liked the RE2 Remake, I'm glad that they did RE4 remake right though
It’s crazy. I love vr and Wonder why a lot of the vr games put out there aren’t as optimized in every way and here it shows that to get it really good it cost money, takes smart people to do every little aspect of the game to make it good. I never knew how much went into something like this. It’s insane.
I work in QA in the industry, and I have to say, your terminology was so on-point it blew me away. Sprints, scrum meetings, greyboxing. Calling the money-side "Suits", lmao. At one point I had to remind myself this wasn't a video for on-boarding for a new project! Amazing video all around, a great watch! I'll for sure be keeping an eye out for more of your stuff!
Damn, good stuff. Resident Evil 7 was such a gamble for Capcom in so many ways. The franchise was to be taken in a new direction, the focus would be on a new cast of characters, a new engine, new image scanning tech, a different pipeline, VR, and this all had to be approved before work could be done. Awesome video!
Tbh a lot of Capcom games are a gamble in theory because they always were a very inovative company (they're the reason we have tons of other games today, just see how many games DMC created or how many games RE created for example)
Resident evil 7 resparked my love for horror in gaming and horror in general. This game was anxiety provoking and terrifying in the most beautiful way possible. One of my favourite horrors of all time. Absolutely love it
Loved every spectacle it was such a great horror experience, by far my favourite survival horror game :) is it your favourite survival horror game as well? Honestly in my opinion it was much better then 8, just in general the horror elements essentially used in this masterpiece of a game really gave you old horror vibes, the horror aspect was one to be noticed and overall the thrill of this magical rollercoaster was getting to experience a first person re game and resident evil 7 really delivered that
On first play throughs comparing 7 and 8, 8 had some scarier moments (especially Beneviento house segment) while 7 had a creepier yet cheesy vibe (especially Jack chasing you around the house). Overall it's funner to do a run of 7 because not only is it shorter (about 3-5 hrs if you are good) but it delivers on some of the best elements of RE, good creepy enemies, awesome environments, fast paced, good boss fights, memorable characters and one particular thing that was absent for a long time, making a choice that affects the outcome of the story. They dropped that after original re3 and it returning in re7 was interesting. That said, the nostalgia bait of re8 being like re4 and overall cooler environments imo, I think re8 is the better experience but not as replayable as 7. I've played re7 at least 20+ times, and I don't di that for all Re games. 4 is about the other only one to be that level of replayable goodness.
What are your favorite RE guns? Edit: Thank Kendo's Gun Shop if you want to know moreI like a lot of the weapon choices we get and they put such work into them some have Spicy designs and aesthetics. My personal favorite gun of re7 is the base Magnum. For re8, it would be the Handcannon PZ. For re4 it would be the Striker shotgun. For re2make, I'd say the Matilda. For re3make, I'd say the Hot Dogger knife. For re1, I'd say Barry's revolver (too bad you have to kill him for it).
@@Abyss.Walker that's a really hard decision to make but if I had to choose I'd say that it is my favourite survival horror. I loved 8 as well but it wasn't that scary. The giant baby fetus was super creepy but it was such a short portion of the game... I agree that 7 had all the horror elements. I absolutely loved every minute of it. Note: not hating on village. I really loved that game but in terms of horror 7 out did it.
@@gamewriteeye769 I think RE 2 remake deserves an honorable mention. The game was gorgeous and super fun too. RE 4 is a no brainer, I would really love a remake of it. I hope all the rumours surrounding it are true.
RE7 was such a breath of fresh air to the franchise. I love the game and the horror it generated. There were legitimate moments of dread in this game, and I hadn't felt that in an RE game for a long time. It was interesting to hear the history of the engine that is powering the - pretty great remakes. RE4 remake is out now and I feel like it's one of the best RE games so far. Looking forward to what they do next.
I literally just played Resident Evil: Biohazard a few days ago and this game really is the shit. The story in the gameplay is just so sinister that you actually feel like you’re in this situation, it also helps that it’s the first RE game to be in first person. I can say so many good things about this game but to sum it up this game is amazing
100% one of the best games every created and such a good character arch for Ethan. He's so memorable for the memes based on everyone around him in RE7 and then him as a character in RE8. I could play it again and again and still enjoy it, lmao.
Konami had a good thing going with P.T. Then they fked it all up for themselves and they didn't recover since. Capcom knew a golden opportunity when it saw it and I believe that's really how the RE series made its much-needed comeback. They saw exactly what horror fans wanted. My personal take at least.
@@silenthero2795 yeah, even in this video, I was kinda surprised how Capcom accepted it and even making it a mainline title. They definitely saw PT's potential and they don't want to miss that chance.
konami isn't struggling at all. they just don't have a single fuck to give anymore towards videogames cause they make bank from pachinko machines. it's a really sad state for all their IP's they've pretty much abandoned.
This game was an absolute rollercoaster to play, I just loved every spectacle, the amount of detail lurking around every corner, they really nailed the coffin with the horror aspect on Re8, I used to help out so many streamers with this game and the story was just nailed to perfection very reminiscent to the old re games I feel like re5 and 6 were a step back *not a letdown* but those 2 games just broke the bridges in the “scary, resident evil” vibe and 7 really brought back the old feeling of resident evil, an absolute masterpiece and hands down my favourite not only resident evil game but survival horror game..the way they used the crafting system it really made you feel persevered to conserve your things like chem fluid for other situations, f**CKING loved this game and it’ll always be the best re game in my heart
re7 aged like wine for me. I loved it on release, but didn't quite consider it my favorite then played re2r and considered that my favorite. then more recently played 8 and was like "this is good but you know what was great? 7." so i went back and just replayed re7 and realized it is definitely my favorite resident evil game. it's the truest "horror" game in the franchise that invented survival horror.
Re7 was the re-birth of the series, a new beginning! Ethan’s story from 7-8 was amazing, it really brought the old games back to life, from collecting items to survival horror, I think we are all so grateful for RE7!
Eh, Re8 totally ruined what Re7 started. Re8 is like a Re4 lite and then the shadows of rose DLC was a Re8 lite. I can't think of a single thing that was good about Re8, it was turned back to action, but in a clunky FPS. Then they implemented 3rd person, but the animations are unfinished and so bad to the point where it totally takes you out of the immersion.
@@DropoutJerome RES 8 was good. It wasn’t great but it was good. The plot was great though. I love the story and the weapons. Res 4 remake saved them again though. They put the work in on that game and deserve to reap the rewards.
still one of the most fun horror games that still absolutely pulls off the horror aspect. The game builds suspense very well and the sheer immersion it pulls off really keeps people playing it
Tf you mean it wasn't even scary re7 is bland as fuck it was severely lacking in variety of enemy's the va for Evelyn was cringe like the only good thing about the game was the baker family re is the worst out of the franchise I'd only replay it if I was bored and didn't feel like playing anything else
I know this video is 1yr old, but it was amazing. The explanation about the project management aspect was so detailed that I wish I saw it while I was in college. Also, the story telling of the whole video, flawless. First video I see from this channel, but just amazing
@@DXFromYT I love the little details you put in the editing like the iconic RE text screen when showing developer quotes or the little vignette with the theme song.
How did I not see this before?? These type of videos are right up my alley. RE7 served as my first introduction to the series. The intro and demo were so different than anything else I'd seen and I still love that game so much. This video is so insanely high quality, I feel like this could be an actual documentary. Would love to hear the development stories of other games in this format.
I knew RE7 changed the franchise, it was obvious. It was a new kind of monster, a new kind of protagonist. But I didn't realize JUST how much it did for Capcom. What a great story, and great video.
@@NotTheAlbinauricWoman the dragon boss fight wasn't supernatural it happened because of the parasite that lady d has got out of control when ethan poisoned her with the knife
Apart from the fact that this is an amazing documentary, I also have to appreciate and learn from Takeuchi's leadership. As a Developer myself, it's inspiring to learn how he created such a legendary game by giving his team clear and defined goals!
Also by how approchable and reliable he was, like the budget with the photogrammetry, he clearly wants everyone to give 100% and is willing to go to lenghts to make sure of that
As a developer, one of the best part of this documentary is seeing how good leadership and management can lead to a successful project, which culminates in a product that exceeds expectations. On a side note, if I ever had a project manager like Takeuchi, I'd marry the fuck outta that man.
I can't believe this game is nearly 5 years old man i have so much nostalgia for the game and I think It was definitely a step in the right direction while introducing new ideas yet sticking to its roots and go tell aunt rhody is still an absolute bop. Bro, this game is 7 years old now. Where has the time gone, still a goated game
This is one of the greatest videos about development cycles I've ever seen. I love learning new terms that professionals use and see how they are worked on as a collective.
A little late to the party, but this was an absolutely amazing video. RE7 was my first real horror experience, and it was one that absolutely terrified me and intrigued me to the bone. This video showed me how much actually went into my favorite horror game PERIOD, and how it was exactly how it was intended to be.
Thank you! I'm sure my script simplified it a bit too much but I was glad to be able to talk about the inner workings of development and what software dev methods are chosen and why.
@@Hether6971 7 has great scary bits and great puzzles too, and its not a derived from the original. It is a continuation of general story, the dlc give you more about the tie-ins with the original story. kinda reminded me of the mansion in first resident evil. I did not fully played 8 but its plays like 4, feels like 4, so imo its really fun and can be almost terrifying at some point. if 6 was your last straw( like me) give them a chance, you wont regret it.
This video made me wanna replay RE7 all over again and just appreciate how the developers went through such strides to make it amazing. Great video, DX, as always.
I wish you luck. I'm glad that RE7 got them back on the right track and everything. That being said, wow... It is most certainly my least favorite Resident Evil experience. It has everything that I despise in a shooter and I would easily put it in last place. I'm of the mindset that they should do anything to keep the series going though.
@@Chimchimchu I initially felt the same way then I realized it’s not a shooter it’s resident evil and that’s how it plays once I got over that train of thought it quickly became my favorite resident evil and one of my favorite horror games. I put it off for over a year because of that approach. Approach it from a different perspective it is not a shooter at all but it is a fantastic survival horror game
@@yoyoyo-yo8995 Resident evil eight was so disappointing after seven. But that’s Capcom doing what they do creating an amazing survival horror experience and somehow thinking people want it to turn into an action game SMH
RE7 is easily one of my favorites in the franchise...it feels amazing to play a game back in the Resident Evil roots of Survival horror and item management
yeah but it's dumb asf you shouldn't be able to just attach back limbs like that idc if it's fictional you lose a arm it should be lost forever would of made the game way more challenging and better
As a project manager, I love the discussion on the different project methodologies used. Shows the lead PM’s in depth knowledge of how to plan and execute projects.
@Kris oh I meant the games released after 7 have all been pretty good. RE6 is definitely not the best Resident Evil game. That being said there is still some fun to be had if you co-op the game and treat it as a cheesy action movie game. But I'd agree RE6 is definitely the low point of the mainline games.
I love how Takeuchi said he wants it to have the same feel as Evil Dead and it certainly nailed it. So many parts in this game feel so over the top that it comes off as comical but it would definitely be a lot scarier if we were placed in those situations. Great example is how insanely psychotic jack is with how he loves to taunt Ethan
Re7 was the first resident evil game I ever played, I didn’t think I would ever get into RE but I liked the acpect of the first person gameplay with re7 so I gave it a shot, loved every minute of it, it just so happens to be that when I beat re7 they announced re8 about a month later, I bought re8 and loved it, then I proceeded to buy the re2-re3 remakes and was skeptical of the third person camera angles, loved both of those games, proceeded to then buy the collection of re4,re5and re6. And now I’ve preordered re4 remake. I never thought I would enjoy resident evil but me randomly giving re7 a shot because it was free on game pass has made this one of my favorite video game series of all time. I’ve achievement hunted all of them, beat every challenge in all of them, and I’ve beaten them all multiple times, that’s how much I love this series.
Same for me except I also played the original hd remaster..amazing game.. I also got revelations..zero.. And code Veronica.. Code veronica is the only one I haven't played
RE7 felt like the first resident evil ever to feel like what the original concept was actually meant to be. Pure terror with excellent immersion uninterrupted by awful janky controls. I immediately fell in love with it
I grew up on resident evil. I would watch my mom as she played 1, 2, 3, 4, and Veronica. Until I eventually played them myself. I enjoyed 5 and 6, but it wasn’t the same. Thank you Capcom for keeping my childhood alive.
I remember when RE7 came out how obsessed I was with it. I hadn't played any video games in a year or two at that point. Then I see that first trailer for RE7 and like I proceed to watch all the promotional material over and over. When it comes out I watched one play through. I bought the game on a friends steam account just so I could play it on his computer. And obviously the tradeoff was that he could play it later as well. I beat it like 4 times. 4th time was Madhouse starting from scratch. And while I was still playing it I was watching other youtuber's playthroughs. Looking back I wasn't sure why I was so obsessed with it. Maybe it's because I know all the secrets now so it's a coherent story. Whereas back then it felt like I was Ethan discovering the family bit by bit. I just had not seen a video game like it, nor any since. When RE8 came out, I did think it was cool and watched a playthrough, but it didn't really capture whatever RE7 captured for me. I do own it but haven't felt like playing it yet, but I will at some point... probably after replaying RE7. There were aspects of RE7 magic in it. I think we can all agree that the tall lady needed a bigger role.
Bruh imma say it. Watching those games before playing it is a sin. You really missed the true wonder and horror of playing through the game. Also 8 was more gameplay focused so that's prob why you're feeling that way
@@cidfacetious3722 maybe because thenRE community wanted the action element back?kind of annoyed me a bit because some fans wants this franchise turns into action game

A beautifully & professionally presented video. You speak clearly without excessive expression or obnoxiousness. Your edits are immersive and flow with the topic. The background music is appropriate. It’s evident that you’re able to produce and present effectively. Well done, I watched all the way through.
The outro with that quote hit me right in the heart. Legit I never really knew or understood how much effort they put into making RE7 the masterpiece it is. But now I do and I am humbled by it.
RE7 was my introduction to Resident Evil, I got it for free with PS plus and was totally blown away with the game. From the moment I first booted it up and saw that amazing cinematic I was in love, I spent like my whole of that summer grinding that game and all the achievements, I can still remember feeling absolutely ecstatic beating Madhouse getting that infinite ammo and running through the game feeling like a god. Then I remember spending countless hours trying to beat Ethan Must Die and getting that achievement filled me with so much joy bragging about it to my friends. This game through and through was just amazing, you can feel all the effort everyone put into the game, I still to this day revisit the game, lay back and enjoy, Masterpiece of a game 10/10.
Great video...resident evil is one of the best franchises ever and resident evil 7 is one of the best games ive played in like 10 years. Truely immersive horror.
Man I fucking love the RE Engine. The recent games have looked so good and on top of it feeling extremely optimized. I’m still outstanded to this day that I was able to play Re2 remake and RE3 remake on a 580 at mostly 100 FPS at basically max settings. I can’t say that for any game that looks that good.
I don't know why but I got a little emotional during this video. It's really good to see that there's still developers out there that truly care about what they make.
Devs will often complain about being time-boxed into sprints but scrum certainly works when it comes to fast iteration. Takeuchi must have seen a lot of in-efficient processes over his years and knew what would be the best approach for getting it done faster. I'm glad it worked out well for him and his team on RE7
I'd like to say that thid video is really well produced ?? The in-game captures, the music, fluid montage and narration is just sooo good. Makes the whole thing very documentary-ish and overall enjoyable. Really appreciated going through the entire video ! Awesome work, can't wait to see the rest of your channel !
Thank you so much! You might enjoy my last video on BioShock Infinite. It's very similar and even has an interview with Ken Levine, the game's Creative Director.
no it isn't at all one of the greatest survival horror games it's not scary enough to be considered that at all plus it's generic horror shit that gets old quick and has been old for years have a enemy pop out of no where omg it's so scary like nah that shit hasn't been scary in years
That was actually really useful to hear about photogrammetry, I kinda knew of its existance but I thought it was mainly used for films utilizing CGI tech. Knowing that games use it too is good to know. Personally it takes me ages to model something in its entirety and I haven't even made a fully realistic style yet. Maybe someday I'll get to try photogrammetry, if I ever get to setup over 150 high quality cameras
You're such an underrated UA-camr, man. You've made leaps and bounds as a content creator ever since those Parasite Eve videos I first saw from you back in highschool. I beat parasite eve and then saw there was a game called The Third Birthday. I had a PSP and very few people reviewed that game... Except for you! Thanks for showing me that game is a total turd and saving me my money!
a total turd indeed. He´s just too slow to release content. I understand it must be something like quality over quantity, but maybe the truth lies somewhere in the middle lol.
It's incredible what the developers were able to achieve with Resident Evil 7, and how it brought in a renaissance for Resident Evil and Capcom as a whole
17:25 still scared the shit out of me lol and I’ve completed this game multiple times, THAT’S how good this game is, Marguerite has to go down as one of the scariest video game characters of all time…
In the end RE7 showed that it is never too late to try reviving a franchise on the way out when you got the right peoples and right ideas. It is and stays a gamble, like every game developement, but you will have the goodwill of the fans when you do it right, just ask the Sonic movie guys how well that worked out for them to listen to the fans, they got a lot of goodwill that translated to ticket sales.
I agree, although it is important to remember the difference between "listening to the fans" and "pandering to them". The Sonic movie makers listened to the fans but still kept an original vision that gave them something new and enjoyable without feeling patronizing. Compare that to most Hollywood reboots and sequels, and it's clear that pandering will only lead to failure.
RE wasn't even a dead series, a dead series is like Darkstalkers or Star Gladiator, so nothing was saved, Capcom just wants to print more money with RE lol
This was a really well crafted video. Thank you for putting the time into developing this. I only just got around to playing 7 this year and it blew my mind. It was really cool to get some deep insight into how it came to life; especially the dedication the team had to return to the RE Horror roots. Top notch ♥
I never really cared about resident evil until RE2 Remake came out. I played the 1 shot demo of that game and was hooked. Spent so much effort getting the platinum. Doing nothing but beating the game over and over for a week. When I finished the platinum I had that really empty feeling you get when you realize that you’ve got to move on from something that you’d grown to love. I saw RE7 was on sale and decided to buy it. Played about 15 minutes before I realized it had VR support. Went to GameStop immediately the next day to buy a PSVR and played through the entire game for the first time in VR. I could not believe it. Unreal, like nothing id ever experienced. I could rave about it for days. It gave me fucking nightmares for months. Like, legitimate PTSD. I think the baker mansion sequence (first 4 or so hours) will forever be my favorite gaming memory. Im so thankful that they were able to bring us this game, and can’t begin to imagine how proud the team must be of their work. Once in a lifetime do you get to be a part of something so special.
RE 7 was my first introduction to the RE series. I fell in love immediately, and after the amazing RE 8, I truly hope they never change this new format.
I've rewatched this video so many times, if this was on Spotify you'd be my top artist. I've been trying to find more production documentary of games, movies or ad films since, but nothing comes close to this. PLEASE make more production documentaries of games or anything you like. I'd LOVE to watch it!
You'd like my videos on BioShock Infinite and Agents Of Mayhem. They're not quite as in depth but alternatively, they do offer quite a bit of insight from the folks who worked on the games via my interviews.
Okay this analysis was amazing I usually get bored ifit's too long but I couldn't close this one off. Also, I love this guy Takeuchi, such strong demands but always having a good plan behind it and trusting the team he chose to deliver on it. And his creative process actually sounds like he knows what he's doing and he isn't just taking some good workers throwing them in and expecting it to work. He sounds so efficient and so open minded, he even let everyone have a say as long as he felt it would be good for the game. What an amazing guy
Incredible video, man. Seeing how your content has changed over the years (for the better! The editing and reseach that went into this insane) is genuinely fascinating to witness.
The quality of this video is outstanding. I remember watching your video on rail wars years ago and the worst video game library, you got me into anime and changed my perspective on video game design, you shaped the last 4 years of my life significantly man there's so many choices and friends I would not have now if your videos weren't the catalyst for what I am now. Thank you for all the amazing content throughout the years, you've only improved.
I'm a developer so I can appreciate the work that was put into this title. This game genuinely scared me but I respect and admire the process Takeuchi did for RE7. I'm in awe. Very well done piece, DX
Dude, I missed you on UA-cam. This video was nothing short of brilliance. I would love to see you discuss RE2 and 3 remakes, as well as RE Village. It's crazy because, the very first vid of your I ever watched was your RE6 video, and that was (and still is) the best discussion and breakdown video of that game that anyone has ever done. I'm glad to see you're doing well, and that your talent at content creation has progressed to yet another level. Keep up the amazing work.
It’s crazy how the whole game reminisced of the Evil Dead, from the scenery/graphics to the heavily and overly violent situations that sometimes seemed silly. The whole game gave off a unique vibe that completely matched evil dead. Now seeing that the whole game was meant to look like it and have the same tone, it’s so satisfying to see especially with its success from it
damn, amazing video. tells a lot how industry works and why sometimes they take some choices that players might not understand. really informative video. this just appeared on my feed so your video is still relevant 1 year later. amazzing work
The fact that P.T/Silent Hills could've been for Konami what RE7 was for Capcom makes me sad. But I'm glad that Capcom found themselves again. Here's hoping for the best with their next project, and that they continue their great work.
RE7 was one of my first ever Resident Evil games, I absolutely loved it! It terrified me , and had me hooked with the crafting/survival elements. Having bought and finished the 8th one, can't wait to see what they come up with next!
Thank you Jun Takeuchi and Team, RE7 was a true blessing. I’m so pleased to have been born in a lifetime that allowed me to enjoy such a wonderful masterpiece.
Re7 was the game that introduced me to the resident evil franchise. I remember putting the disk in my ps4 and being excited to try out a horror game of the title resident evil. And throughout the whole game I was pulled into the story and gameplay. I remember being so terrified of going into a part of the game for how scary it was (The beginning, and the boat with Mia) When I finished with the game I remember how disheartened I was to see that the amazing game I played was now over. And out of all the games I've played I've only felt that sadness of finishing a game with only one other, that being "The last of us". But playing Re7 got me into the whole franchise which led me to play Village, Re4, Re2 Remake, and I cant wait for the upcoming Re4 Remake. But at the end of the day, I will always love Re7 for being the resident evil game. That brought me into this wonderful franchise. This video gave me even more of reason to love this game. Thank you for this wonderful video 👍
Thank you for this great video! As a frontend developer it was strangely exciting to hear about the project management going so well lol. It really shows the difference a good management can make.
I recently played Re7 for the first time, (Never really Played a resident evil game before) and fell in love with the series, i bought Re2 & 3 right away. Than after those two made my way through village, the RE Engine is a masterpiece. Never thought id be the type to love playing survival horror games but here we are 4 Resident Evil Games under my belt
I played it in VR, so that made a HUGE difference. I rarely play games a second time, but I wonder how much different it will feel in regular flat screen.
I have been watching your content for about a decade. This is, in my opinion, the greatest video you have ever produced, right along side the Psycotoxic video.
What an amazing video man, learned things I had no idea were going on behind the scenes... Capcom seriously set better standards for game developement that I wish the other big publishers followed... These past few games from Capcom are a testament of how good games can get when they're made by a great dev team and a publisher that cares.
Yeah it is going to be standards that are going to gradually be learned when the big ones fail enough to listen to wisdom, and when they can set aside egos.
this was really well researched. Appreciated. I'm a die hard resident evil fan, but I wonder if Capcom could've come up with RE7 had there been no PT demo or Outlast games
Dude, this video is a so well crafted. Very good work. Resident Evil is has always been my favorite franchise and to come across something like this where you can see a side of a game you normally don't get to is just very cool. So thank you. I look forward to future videos by you!
This is literally one of the best video essays I’ve ever seen. The editing, the music, the visuals and script… everything just placed perfectly together. I’ve watched it like 5 times this last week. The is definitely the first horror game where the atmosphere played such a big role in the tension and horror. I played it on both VR and normal. The sound effects of creeking doors in the distance, coughs, murmurs, and weather hitting the house made it just creepy to turn every corner. The locations felt loved in and beyond what you can see feels alive as well. The amount of times I would hear something and it would make me stop in my tracks to check the room or behind my shoulder is insane. On top of that, you have interesting characters and moments of spectacles makes the game unforgettable. Everyone remembers the garage battle, the women turning into a giant spider, and the molds that would randomly spawn on you. Capcom hit it out of the park with this game and thankfully it helped revive one of the greatest horror franchises out there. Because of this title, we have the remakes and especially Resident Evil 4 on VR. Which feels like an wholesome ancestor of this title.
this game really holds a special place for me. first played it when i was 13 (no idea how i got to finishing at that age) and it really introduced me to survival horror. now being 19 and played countless survival horrors including the recent RE2 and RE3 remakes, i only have RE7 to thank

@@ud3mare the best way to stop that is starting with a game called Moss it's a beautiful PSVR game, it's probably to best way to get use to it, you def don't want to try Doom VR, I'm used to VR and that makes me feel funky, oh in case you don't know PSVR also plays 3D movies too, hope that helps

re7 is my first intro into the re universe and listening to this detail breakdown of the making of the game truly amazed me... just listening to how the developer working super hard on the project and finally getting the hype from the fans during the trailer really almost make me wanna cry... amazing people just working on their passion
This has been one of the best and most detailed explanation videos i've ever seen. Being a software engineer myself and getting to hear terms like scrum and waterfal was really amusing. Not to mention the quality of the video. Thanks for all this
It's refreshing when passionate people make a AAA game rather than unpassionate businessmen who care more about making money than making a good product. I can't even put into words how much i appreciate the development team behind this game, the Japanese are just great at making anything and everything and this game shows exactly why. They aren't afraid to take risks and try new things, just look at the first Dead Rising for example. They took risks, did something new and made that masterpiece of a game. Thank you for making this video mate, honestly one of the best videos i've seen in a while
When I first heard it was going FPS I was so sceptical. But then I also heard it was returning to more survival horror roots. I got my hands on the game I was blown away. Fantastic game.
I’m not a huge RE fan by any means. In fact, I had a cloud gaming account that had rotating monthly titles, and among them was RE7 Gold Edition. I hadn’t played any of the previous titles before so I didn’t know what to expect going in. Let me just say that I was completely blown away by the graphics, puzzles, and scares. The weapon and item management and consolidation was intriguing, the enemies were tanky despite multiple shots to the head, and the bosses were some of the most terrifying and creative I’ve ever experienced. Even the save room theme was wonderful to listen to. The story was also rotating fleshed out and there were some sad moments that made me tear up a bit. The main campaign is quite lengthy and the settings of the game are rustic, modern, and fascinating. After I finished the main story, I played all the bonus footage games which were nice additions to the game. When all was said and done I will always remember the adventure RE7 took me on
RE7 was literally the rebirth of Capcom. You know it meant a lot to them when they wrote a thank you message after the reveal of RE7 Trailer.

@@gagec6390 completely agree with you!
I was introduced to the RE universe thanks to RE 7! Played Village after that one and then decided to give a shot to the remakes. I ended up playing all of them and it became one of my favorite franchises
Play RE HD remaster, RE2 remake and RE3 nemesis 1999
If you want to play RE3, don't play the remake one, the original is far far better, don't know how they messed it up so much honestly 🤣
I'd still reccomend grabbing RE3make when it's on sale since it is really fun, just totally not for the 60$ price tag. It feels more like an over-the-top DLC for RE2make than a full game, but it's still pretty much enjoyable.
How did you find 4 Remake?
@@Chad-bc9vi the orginal has aged terrible the controls are terrible and theres barely any way to see whats something you can interract with.
@@Rikhard9 of course, it's a 1999 video game, honestly the RE3 remake just needed to stick to the original as much as possible and it's going to be a good game, but they somehow messed that up
But honestly I still find the original far better than the remake, it's a shame since I really liked the RE2 Remake, I'm glad that they did RE4 remake right though
This actually insane how this man got a dream team of experts together. He really did save resident evil
Thank you so much!

Capcom knew a golden opportunity when it saw it and I believe that's really how the RE series made its much-needed comeback. They saw exactly what horror fans wanted. My personal take at least.

After I finished Resident Evil 7 and the outro started it was like i felt all the passion that was put into it.

My entry level game in regards to falling in live with series was assassin's Creed 3 then that made me play every single one lol funny how that goes😁

It's doable with a handful of cameras, although it'll take more time, and the quality might be lesser than with a full rig.
You're such an underrated UA-camr, man. You've made leaps and bounds as a content creator ever since those Parasite Eve videos I first saw from you back in highschool.

The fact that P.T/Silent Hills could've been for Konami what RE7 was for Capcom makes me sad. But I'm glad that Capcom found themselves again. Here's hoping for the best with their next project, and that they continue their great work.

I can't even put into words how much i appreciate the development team behind this game, the Japanese are just great at making anything and everything and this game shows exactly why. The jump from RE6 to RE7 is hugeee
When all was said and done I will always remember the adventure RE7 took me on
I disagree with the graphics being good but ok (idc about graphics btw)
