- It's finally here, Resident Evil Village is out and as I was playing through I couldn't wait to find out what was out of bounds and going on behind the scenes. So here we are! In this video we'll be taking a look at the opening scenes and also making our way into the village for the first time!

Glad to know that I wasn't the only one who got extremely confused with how the hell ethan got thrown through a wall to the outside from the stone basement

Game designers were really set on Ethan having no face huh lol
In fact it's very disappointing to see that Ethan has no personality at all. Sure, he interacts more now, but even in the model viewer his head remains dark. Only with mods to turn up the brightness you can see his head / face which is fully modeled but for some reason never officially uncovered.
But in all honesty he's just an everyman with blond hair and blue eyes, nothing special about him.
Most 1st person game protagonists have no face unless theyre in different camera angles in cutscenes, this isnt rly surprising

Of course. Who would ever see his face when we are in first person? It wouldn’t be necessary to make his head unless its a cutscene.
@@mischa1981 I mean, it's first person. We're not really gonna see his head unless it's in a third person position, which the mods do work their magic, along with some Google images of his face.
the work Capcom did was really cool, they animated his lower body in moments that we wouldn’t normally see.
The mocap suit covers the whole body. They couldn't just ask Ethan's actor to get beheaded just because many cutscenes wouldn't show his body.

bruh once i saw the scene later in the factory when Chris disappears in random darkness, I was like, "WE NEED OUR BOI SLIPPY ON THIS!!!!" hahahaha

Awesome! I did notice that some of the cut scenes were jarring. I was knocked out in one place and stood up somewhere else. Glad to know why that happened.
the scariest monsters gotta be Ethan.
he successfully fights of all of these creatures, gets chopped into bits, safes hid daughter and ALL THAT without a head
5:47 for some odd reason they cut out the original scene, after the man was dragged up or actually let me just say origanlly during this scene you had full control of ethan and could move around with the gun, so the man gets dragged up and then you were prompted to leave the house, well as you're walking a lycan tries to get you from behind and ethan falls, gets back up, and runs but THEN the lycan grabs him from under. another cut was the lycan hits you from behind and throws you out the house which was more basic than the other ones. but I have to say the big jump cuts were sloppy in my opinion.
I remember going back into the house and I was confused why the floorboards were fine after being pulled under. Capcom did not do a good job with the teleporting stuff.

Imagine how all the other characters just taking headless Ethan seriously
Damed Ethan criss cross and thats a cool detail since we never get to see how he's sitting
6:15 THANK YOU!!! Right as this game came out I watched Markiplier play just episode one while I waited till payday and I noticed that NOBODY was questioning how there was no hole in the floor yet the hole in the wall was in front of a completely fine floor space. Who knew you simply teleported 🤣 I was honestly REAL surprised I haven’t see anybody question how he was thrown out of the basement yet there was no whole directly in front of where you go through the wall 😂
It’s interesting that the teleportation is used SO much. I wonder if for the initial thrown out of the basement scene if they initially had him try to flee and instead just cut out everything in between.
5:51 I always thought this was weird when I played through it. The placement of the character and action didn't seem to match up at all... makes you wonder if this was an oversight that they just went with or just a design choice that they decided to live with.
What if there was a Lycan in the dark. Where you wake up in the overturned truck. I can’t believe you didn’t up the brightness and check. And the corpse that gets dragged behind a corner at the beginning of the game.

As with Mr. X and Nemesis, it would be cool to see how Dimitrescu works when player doesn't see her after she starts to look for you in the castle.
She just walks around like normally.

I appreciate the like, split videos. Like, different sections of the game getting their own separate video. I'm on my first playthrough of RE8 right now, and I'm only slightly into the castle. So knowing that this whole video is pretty much just everything BEFORE the castle, is great. I know I'm not getting any spoilers. Once I exit the castle and move on to the next section, I'll watch the video about the castle OOB stuff.
Sometimes when people make OOB videos, they kinda jump all over the place, and it's hard to avoid spoilers if you haven't completely finished a game yet. But I still love seeing OOB videos about games I enjoy. I play on console, so I don't really get the pleasure of using a freecam to explore myself. But I do love breaking out of the map in any game I can.

Game environments are pretty much built like movie sets. The old rule of thumb is "if you don't see it, don't build it." There are warehouses full of movie sets and props built without backs, or with detail on one side.

It really bugs me that Elena dies instantly when she falls into the fire. She should be screaming in pain as she's burned alive. There's no way falling a single story onto the roof of a truck would have killed her.
