For me it's the garage scene where Ethan does nothing but watch the Deputy get decapitated, and after standing there for like 20 seconds and Jack finally tries to swing at him, Ethan just walks past Jack and out of his range.
I love Jack as a character. But his teleportation is even more obvious and obnoxious on Madhouse difficulty; where he can appear around every corner even right after you used the stairs. There was also that strat to avoid him appearing behind Ethan ever since the demo - by simply having the back glued to the wall at all times which did not give him room to teleport.
You can despawn jack almost immediatly on madhouse. All you need to do is buy the key, get the broken shotgun and swap it with the real one. You probably need to sneak past Jack once.

It’s because she is so easily avoidable, and provides basically no threat except when she pops up behind you when you don’t expect her. She doesn’t rush you, does have long range attacks, and is easily out-runnable. Basically useless as a stalker, she only provides a minimal distraction when gathering the heads for the statues, and in the area where she cuts off Ethan’s hand. And even then in that area it was super easy to run around her.

@Erwin Rommel no idea how you think that but I guarantee you got in your own head. Sometimes my expectations alone ruin a game for me. I thought village was better than biohazard. Great games, both of em
I think it also has to do with the feeling of claustrophobia in the Baker mansion. The castle in 8 is much much larger so you feel a bit safer in that you have more room to roam with a lower liklihood of stumbling upon her than stumbling upon jack in the much smaller house
@@BFancybones That and just it feels so much more safer and excapable in the big open rooms and mommy dom gf sized hallways, compared to the baker masions normal sized rooms and passages
I remember first playing resident evil 7 and that moment at the start where jack appears on the road to the guest house actually scared me so badly that I genuinely had to take a break for a second. That was when I knew it was gonna be a hell of a ride.
Jacks animations and movement is just so good. When he turned the corner at the end he didn’t just walk like a robot, he had all the body movement and balance of a real life person walking around a corner knowing you’re there and coming to get you.
Fun facts: during the making of this game, Capcom actually revolutionized how they do game development, and managed to make a quality game in half the time of the previous entries from years earlier. In the old way, separate departments would handle different parts of an asset. One team would make all the 3D models. Another would do the animation. Another would do the game code tied to the asset. In capcoms new way, projects for broken up by asset not team. What this means is that the same person who designed Jacks 3d model was the same person who animated it and coded it. No time was lost passing it back and forth between teams. One guy sat there and worked on it until it was near perfect, and it could just be plugged into the game engine like a Lego piece.
How is that even possible? For me he was easily the scariest re stalker in the scariest re game and the begging of the game was the most memorable. Very charismatic and unique and definitely the scariest while he is following you.
It's kinda obvious that they don't keep characters after they played out their scenes but it's still amazing to see a little behind the curtains. This game is amazing, I loved almost every minute of it. It's one of those game where I wish I could go back and experience it again like it's my first time playing it.
Ah man, I remember first seeing this game. I was sick in 3rd or 4th grade watching CoryXKenshin play it at home. It was amazing. And actually playing it for myself a few years after was also amazing.
Most people who say Resident Evil 4 is the best usually started with it. It is not even close to being the best, it's a good game, not a good Resident Evil game if that makes sense. Say play the Resident Evil 1 remake, it curb stomps Resident Evil 4 and actually is survival horror, not survival action.
The original was by far the best as far as being a straight survival game like it was intended 4 is where they took it and turned it into just a horror based shooter game I never understood why that's everyone's favorite when for me that was the beginning of the end for the series
I saw from a video that you can actually duck under Jack's swing at 0:39 and tested it myself and it does indeed work. You just have to duck to the left side while still moving forward. Pretty cool actually
Seeing how the NPCs in this game work off-camera makes the game look janky and unpolished, but during regular gameplay it looks and feels natural and scary.
@@DinoGirl well you see. Jack never wanted to kill Ethan or anybody really, he just wanted to “take them for a ride (woohoo)” in their cars and chase them around his house with a shovel whilst playing hide and seek / peekaboo. He’s a real gentle soul too and a family man. Making sure Ethan is nice and feed by insisting he eat his supper just goes to show his loving nature. Finally, he is incredibly talented, preforming flawless donuts in a subpar car in a rather small garage. All of the above points mentioned, you can see that pop is a jolly and most jubilant character and he is most misunderstood.
With these more modern stalker enemies I'm curious to if you've considered looking into Haunting Ground and its stalkers. With the differences in personality and stalking styles along with seeing how the game can let you seamlessly roam between multiple giant areas without loading screens makes me think it would be a fantastic subject for videos like this one.
It's why I now only play on madhouse difficulty. It's so fun to experience stealth in a game where stealth isn't a mechanic. It adds an entirely new mechanic to the game, making it even more fun
Interesting fact: you can skip the parts at the beginning where jack breaks through the wall or where he cuts off your leg and forces you to use the medicine on it if your fast enough to avoid him and get to the laundry room before that happens and if you do that the wall jack normally breaks through will stay unbroken for the rest of the game
I think it was the bit in single player where Jack will do shit like purposely cut off your foot with a shovel as opposed to killing you at times simply so he can taunt you after which he will set down a healing item for you to use so he can chase you more
I made the mistake of playing my first play through of Re7 in Vr........Jack Baker is the scariest thing I've seen and I legit get nightmares about him.
The biggest thing that makes jack so much scarier is the randomness to his dynamic actions, like breaking through the wall, taunting you with a healing bottle after he cuts off your leg in the pantry (which requires getting hit to even happen), the fact that he knows where you will most likely hide, the fact that if he gets to the car first then he tries to run *YOU* over instead. It's just so unnerving and is missing from alot of the stalkers that came after.
Yes, Yes, Yes! Thanks for doing this awesome vid. You do amazing work and I always look forward to your vids especially the resident evil ones. You deserve far more subs. Keep up the great work.
I think it does actually does make sense that Jack can pretty much teleport because of the mold which seems like it can mold the body so it can help him travel
Just finished this for the 1st time in VR, horror and VR are a hideous mix! The part where the full mansion is opened up I never bumped into Jack again.
not sure if this has been pointed out in the comments, but in Madhouse difficulty, if you manage to get the scorpion key from the cage early by managing to get 3 antique coins by the time you reach the main hall and unlocking the cage, Jack will suddenly barge out from the doors that lead from the kitchen
I really wish theyd adapt the stalker system from alien isolation where the longer the enemy is to you without catching you, the more it has to leave you alone. Its very frustrating having to choose between waiting for Jack to go away from an objective or just way the ammunition and put a clip into him
I wanted to die when I was trying to do the eagle light puzzle because I lost a ton of health and wasted a ton of ammo. I started just knifing Jack on the stairs because I didn't think it was possible to kill him during that phase and I was just messing around waiting for him to kill me. I ended up killing him unbelievably easily without taking any damage whatsoever lmao.
Some things i noticed about jack during my time playing: 1) lets say your running past a doorway or single lane where he can see you he will take like a second and a half until he says a line like “your wasting your time” and then he will chase you (scarily very slowly) 2) i once did a test to see if i could hide somewhere other than the garage so i hid in the corner of thr living room and the first time he walked into the pantry he didnt see me but then turned his head (he was out of sight for me) and he saw me, so after losing him i hid to the left of the sofa in the living room and the thing i noticed here is that not only did he not see me when going into the pantry this time, but if you and him are in a close space like the living room and pantry he will eventually wander into where you are (without him seeing you) and find you
apparently it's whenever he catches up to you in an area that he can't follow you through this case being the shadow passage but someone said it also triggers near the scorpion door and safe room it does no damage and he disappears right after
Finally, one of these videos I can watch. Resident Evil 7 is the only recent RE game I've managed to play, so I've kinda had to avoid the other videos for fear of spoilers. Ya know, it's funny. I much prefer a slightly more 'human' character like Jack or the Lady from the new game, over someone like the Nemesis. Like, I almost LIKE Jack at some points. Sure, he's a weird creepy un-dying old man trying to kill you. But, he feels like a real dude sometimes. He feels like an actual human that's been involved in some fucked up shit. And he straight up messes with you sometimes, like during the car/garage scene when he hops in the car to mess up your steering. Someone like the Nemesis just feels like a game mechanic. He feels like an obstacle as opposed to a character. He might as well just be a blocked staircase or locked door that happens to be able to kill you.
Me too. It also never feels silly because it makes sense for jack to hunt you quite innefective. Since he likes to play with your head. Mr. X on the other hand is more intimidating until you realise how bad he is at his job of killing you.
I feel the same for all of the antagonist Bakers, actually. I liked how their personalities were distorted and how it made them scary - they were believably insane *because* they were flawed. (That "STAY. THE FUCK. OUT!" door-slam from Marguerite was *whack*.) Their powers didn't make them suddenly geniuses and that really sold them for me. Even Lucas made stupid mistakes, and he was built up in the lore justifiably as the 'inventor' smart-ass member of the family. In my opinion, they bottled the good stuff again with RE7 that they hadn't really achieved (for me) since the original first three RE games... and then kind of lost it again for RE8. I know Village has it's fans but for me, RE dropped off when it shifted tone starting with RE4 and beyond.
3:52 Seeing the third-person view of this scene makes this moment even more infuriation, as we can now see that Ethan was standing right in front of the deputy, with his hands fully visible, yet this deputy, who has been told multiple times by Ethan that there are multiple murderous people within this house, is still fully convinced that Ethan intentionally closed the garage door behind them. Truly one of the dumbest characters, let alone cop characters, in gaming history.
Yeah I like deputy but his assumption of ethan was unbelievably stupid, thinking that some panicking Caucasian guy begging for a weapon was part of a missing person's call to a decrepit house in the middle of nowhere in Louisiana
What makes Jacks encounter so scary is not his character specifically but how Ethan runs slower than a turtle

Why am I at near 1k likes? Nice and glad to see people are still agreeing and arguing in the comments 👌
@Erwin Rommel don’t think it was a huge let down still quality like but idk man I preferred resident evil 7 over it more even tho I think they’re the same quality in a way
@Erwin Rommel no idea how you think that but I guarantee you got in your own head.
Damn good game. Bit short when you actually look at it and some padding with some unnecessary combat scenes.
I was like "hey papa"
Needs to be experienced in VR. There were sections I just couldn't do in the headset.
@@steve_ire321 you dont need to play with vr you can play w controler but i believe its much better doing it with vr
@@AshleySmith-ix6to Just headphones, dark room and play it alone with controller. Works with every 1st person horror-game.
ethan's character model looks so scary without a head
Ik, but he need to be like that soo
He dont have head in re8 either, bc the people who made a game wanted us to feel like we are in the game
@Mrofers he dont
@Mrofers he dont, they just add his head but he dont look likr that, he dont have face
@Mrofers he does at the ending cutscene thats all, everywhere else he doesnt stop being a dick
3:05 at this point, i don't think Jack is scared Ethan anymored. He was scared BY headless Ethan walking by like supernatural horror game NPC
5:00
"NICE CAR ETHAN!"
For a first person game the player animation is pretty detailed ( most of them at least)
Anyone else find it freaking hilarious that Ethan is just a headless body?
I mean, it's understandable if jack fucking stomps his head.
@@ParanointDE True😄
@Luis Why?
no, because in first person shooter games characters are always headless
@@ottwarrior Yeah, but you never see that
It's actually kind of impressive how good a lot of this looks in game when it looks so bad from other angles.
kind of insane really, it’s interesting
They optimize the shit out of their games. This is why re engine is so popular.
just wait till you hear about movies
What I find way more interesting here is how emotive Ethan is when you’re not in control of him despite being a no headed manikin
6:14 ARE YOU WINNING SON????
Makes you realise how good the animations are in this game.
Can't believe I almost completely forgot about him and I loved re7
I dont know whats scarier Killer Jack or headless Ethan
Jack’s missing head piece being INSIDE HIS HEAD is so weird 😱
4:22 Jack tries to cut off Ethan's non existent head
Ethan just running with no head, and the knife is just hilarious.
The way some of those camera angles were set brings back memories.
Seeing the missing part of his head & eye still inside the head was jaw dropping. Love this kind of content!
1:50 arguably the most important moment of RE 7 and RE 8...
If you know, you know.
Sadly
4:28 this almost makes me want a new resident evil with the fixed cameras like the old games
the boy in the thumbnail is "nate gentile" xD
I especially love his voice lines... He really is scary. Many people say re4 is the best, but that was before my time, I almost like 7 the most
RE7 is the better survival-horror game. RE4 is the better action game.
@@EndOfSmallSanctuary97 Alright okay, sounds intriguing. I'll give it a shot one day
@@barmetler RE5 is also a great action game. I like how it neatly wraps up a lot of lore and plotlines from the earlier games
4:41 Jack enters the Backrooms.
I saw from a video that you can actually duck under Jack's swing at 0:39 and tested it myself and it does indeed work. You just have to duck to the left side while still moving forward. Pretty cool actually
I did it by accident and thought it was the coolest shit yet
Seeing how the NPCs in this game work off-camera makes the game look janky and unpolished, but during regular gameplay it looks and feels natural and scary.
the most well earned jump scare in video game history is the first time jack appears after you ‘kill’ him in the garage
I was on the phone to my sister while playing this, thinking it was a calm moment, I screamed soon as Jack walked through that wall the first time
Lmao I loved jack, whom I dubbed “pop”
He isn’t a murderer he’s just misunderstood :(
totally!!!
lmao how is he misunderstood?
@@RussianRepublican1917 Is that u Mr Baker?
When they show how he was prior to infection in the main game and DLC it actually broke my heart.
I love seeing how characters act off camera. While I play games I try and guess how things work in it and I LOVE IT
5:35 Ethan survived because he doesn't have a head.
Watching the scenes from the angles at which your not supposed to watch it from reminds me of watching movie scenes without the special effects
3:04 this scene makes me laugh alot
With these more modern stalker enemies I'm curious to if you've considered looking into Haunting Ground and its stalkers. With the differences in personality and stalking styles along with seeing how the game can let you seamlessly roam between multiple giant areas without loading screens makes me think it would be a fantastic subject for videos like this one.
Man that game gave me serious anxiety. Never again. 😂
Jack on a Madhouse difficulty was so intense to deal with. Captured the true fear of a RE feel for me.
It's why I now only play on madhouse difficulty. It's so fun to experience stealth in a game where stealth isn't a mechanic. It adds an entirely new mechanic to the game, making it even more fun
your videos always feel like professional documentaries in terms of editing and camera work. Great video slippy.
Dom is really proud of Jack
He has Family
I’d love to see how the alien from alien isolation behaves off camera
0:25 i think this has some meme potential
5:20 i dont care how many times I replay this game, that still makes me recoil, what the hecc
Your videos are just amazing, underrated!
I think it was the bit in single player where Jack will do shit like purposely cut off your foot with a shovel as opposed to killing you at times simply so he can taunt you after which he will set down a healing item for you to use so he can chase you more
I miss playing this in VR, but then again I'm not sure i can go through that kind of stress again.
5:08
"Oh, Mr. Baker, what are you doing down there? 0:"
Jack isn't really fast chasing you, it's more that they made Ethan move like a sloth with its legs tied together.
4:27 the whole garage scene fascinated me on how Jack slips by. Thanks for this.👍🏼
I made the mistake of playing my first play through of Re7 in Vr........Jack Baker is the scariest thing I've seen and I legit get nightmares about him.
You’re inhuman!
1:45
The death of Ethan - hits harder after RE8
7:33 Sims 5 looks pretty weird...
Just stopped by to say “Welcome to the family, son.”
I love that angle during the garage scene makes it seem like the first RE games
Yes, Yes, Yes! Thanks for doing this awesome vid. You do amazing work and I always look forward to your vids especially the resident evil ones. You deserve far more subs. Keep up the great work.
Good ol headless ethan.
resident evil 7 is my absolute favourite so far nothing can compare it just captures everything perfectly
Its very frustrating having to choose between waiting for Jack to go away from an objective or just way the ammunition and put a clip into him
Great video! Them not caring that Jack can get stuck is fascinating 'cause it doesn't matter since the player is always moving anyway.
Ah, so that's how Ethan avoided the steel bars in the car crash - he never had a head to begin with.
ive never felt so scared whilst playing a game then when jack chases me..
Some things i noticed about jack during my time playing:
1) lets say your running past a doorway or single lane where he can see you he will take like a second and a half until he says a line like “your wasting your time” and then he will chase you (scarily very slowly)
2) i once did a test to see if i could hide somewhere other than the garage so i hid in the corner of thr living room and the first time he walked into the pantry he didnt see me but then turned his head (he was out of sight for me) and he saw me, so after losing him i hid to the left of the sofa in the living room and the thing i noticed here is that not only did he not see me when going into the pantry this time, but if you and him are in a close space like the living room and pantry he will eventually wander into where you are (without him seeing you) and find you
8:18 wait.. When does Jack EVER do that???
apparently it's whenever he catches up to you in an area that he can't follow you through
this case being the shadow passage but someone said it also triggers near the scorpion door and safe room
it does no damage and he disappears right after
@@someguy4258 I never knew that.
@@someguy4258omg this happened to me i was wondering why he dissappeared 😭
I think what makes jack so much scarier than the others is how non stop he keeps appearing during the first third of the game
Nice work 👍🏼✨
Jack hitiing the ground and ethan running aways is so funny
I am just curious, but what are your thoughts on Mr.X ?
Is it due ps plus?
He is good when Evie isnt controling them, but when she is hes like that
I feel the same for all of the antagonist Bakers, actually.
3:07
When you finish eating before anybody.
Finally the Video i was looking for
Playing this in VR was an amazing horror experience.
3:30 me stumbling around the house stoned and repeatedly forgetting what I got up for
