From a guy that has from Cartier to Rolex I'll tell you that Steinhart watches are Amazing! The build, components are unbeatable for the money. What I would look at is the 39mm 500 GMT.
I've had several Ocean 39s and they've all been great quality, fairly well regulated out of box, and lume is quite good. I do agree with many that the case shape.. mainly the lug ends, could use more curvature or down turn.. it can seems little bit flat on the bottom, particularly near the lugs.. It doesn't have to copy an oyster case.. but just curve down the case towards the lugs just to better reduce the wrist gap. I do think from side profile, it actually resembles an Oris Diver 65.. but, I rarely hear anyone ever complain about those. Overall, I've found Steinhart Ocean line, both 42 and 39, to be excellent value and quality for their prices, also. I think my favorite of the Ocean 39s is the Premium GMT. It's like a Batman GMT homage. BUT, it's as close to looking and feeling like one without actually copying it. I've done a review video on it and have noted no less than I think 18 differences that make it unlike the Rolex Batman GMT and consequently unlike many others that simply do a more or less exact copy of one.
I have 3 Steinharts. The case size is perfect not too big not too small, the bracelet quality is excellent with screws, brushing, and big taper down to 16mm, and the clasp is comfortably small (not many people have 16mm clasp this small) and secure. Too many people put big 18mm or even 20mm nontapered clasps on their divers with push button deployment only making the clasp bigger than necessary. Steinhart has excellent QC, quality Swiss movement (SW200 or SW300) and you have a very durable timepiece to last lifetimes if looked after. For the price paid, around $500 USD, I have not owned a better value watch IMO and I have owned over 50 in the last decade (from Seikos to Omegas, and many microbrands). I order many watches each year, some kept and some released, but I can always rely on some brands to deliver quality and perfection every time without worry about receiving a defective movement, or misaligned bezels, or other crap. The brands I trust most are Mido, Steinhart, Omega, and even Zelos. Their watches always arrive perfect, running very accurately, packaged well, and with excellent customer service you almost never have to use.
I've had this watch for about a year, and I love it. I'm usually not an hommage person, but I can make an exception for rare/vintage watches. About the 5 lines of text, this is actually an hommage to the Double Red Sea-Dweller (ref. 1665), which has 2 lines of red text plus 3 white lines. The Rolex shown on the video was a Single Red, just to clarify that this wasn't a design choice by Steinhart, they're just being true to the original design.
Adding my props to Steinhart here. I own the Ocean One Titanium and have experienced first-hand how great their quality is. Glad to see them getting good recognition from other commenters here!
An excellent Steinhart Ocean One Vintage watch review, Oleg. Perfectly done! during past few years, I think that I have bought at least 4 or 5 Steinhart watches, all being Rolex Homage watches, but at the end, I sold them all. Even thought it CERTAINLY IS the best Rolex homage watch FOR THE PRICE, but still something wasn't right for me. Previously, about 3 to 4 years ago, they were making the dials with dark Gray colors which I hated it. Also, I am not really a big fan of the case design which is kind of flat and elongated that it just does not sit on my wrist that comfortably, especially 42mm watches (I have 7.3 inch wrist). However, I love the movement and its accuracy along with solid design of the bezel action and somewhat generic but well constructed bracelet & clasp. One of your questions was "what is the ultimate Rolex Homage watch in the market?". here is my honest answer for you, Oleg. Recently, I have bought Ginault Ocean Rover 2 with black ceramic & gold sand lume with date window. I truly think that watch is the best / ultimate Rolex homage watch in my personal opinion. It is not cheap (at least double the price of this Steinhart), but it worth every penny and some more. Just an amazing quality and it is parred with Tudor black bay quality. Anyway, Yes, Steinhart makes one of the best (probably the best quality to price ratio, especially with SW200 regulated movement) Rolex Homage watch brands in the market. You just can not go wrong with it, however, once you have this Ginault OR2, it is extremely tough to wear and compare with Steinhart. By the way, I used to be Ginault hater (mainly due to their own movement which was a crap), but OR2 is absolutely different animal with well regulated SW200 movement & amazing fit & finish. thanks again for your wonderful review, Oleg.
I owned them both, Steinhart ocean vintage red and a Ginault ocean rover I think the only thing better about the Ginault was the bracelet, every time I looked at the Ginault I saw a Rolex clone but when I look at the Steinhart I see a Steinhart? Maybe knowing that Ginault started out by making replica ROLEX watches that said ROLEX on the face just turned me off ? Steinhart always and ONLY said Steinhart on them. I traded the Ginault for a Seiko and never missed it
In my book the Ginault Ocean Rover is the "ultimate" Sub homage; however, the Steinhart Ocean One range certainly sits in the Sub homage "sweet spot" for price, performance, and quality. I own a Ginault OR1 - a stunning watch that has kept time in "superlative chronometer" specs for over three years now! And 6 Steinie Ocean 39s: the Green "Kermit" homage, the Vintage GMT ref 1655 homage, the OVM ref 5517 MilSub homage, the Double Green "Hulk" homage, the Marine Blue Tudor Sub homage and the least "homagey" of them all, the Steinie "Batmat" GMT. All excellent watches, running anywhere from +11 spd (the "Kermit) to -3 spd (the OVM). If I add another Steinie - and I just might - the Ocean Vintage Ocean Red 39 is probably the next addition!
Agreed. 100%. I was purchasing an Explorer II just recently and my AD thought I was wearing a sub. I handed it to her and she kept saying how it felt like a sub. Ultimate daily watch.
I have Steinhart 42mm ocean vintage red and a 39mm gmt Pepsi and 5 other Seiko dive watches and I traded my Ginault ocean rover away, (but should’ve kept the bracelet) a beautiful watch but I’d rather keep my Steinhart & Seiko’s
I'm not into the look of the Sub, or it's many homages, but the Steinhart seems to be the best value from what I have seen online. I agree that they have found the the goldilocks zone for homages, well enough made, but not so expensive as to push people toward different designs. A $1500 Ginault may be better made, but I could get an Aquis for that money.
Ginault absolutely is NOT better made the only thing better about the ginault is the bracelet and that’s it, a lot of the ginaults have a Chinese made clone ETA movement but I think NOW they do use a real ETA movement I owned both and I traded the ginault for a Seiko but my STEINHART is a keeper
I have one Steinhart in my collection, the Ocean One Vintage which homages the Rolex 6200 from 1954 with the 3, 6, 9 dial, big crown and red triangle on the bezel. It is a beautiful watch which pays tribute to the nearly 70 year old original design. Nobody I’ve met in the two years I have owed and worn the watch has ever mentioned Rolex and I suspect they have no clue what a 6200 submariner is. As far as I’m concerned it’s a vintage inspired, high quality, beautiful watch made by Steinhart, that I personally very much enjoy wearing.
I was always on the fence about them but I got the Olko edition explorer II 1655 homage a couple months ago and while it's not perfect the quality is so good for the price! Yours is looking great 👍 I'm glad to see the lume isn't quite as yellow as the photos on gnomon would suggest!
It's interesting you brought up Ginault, because it looks to me like Ginault is closing shop. All but one of their models are listed as discontinued, and I would be willing to bet once they sell off the remaining stock that will be it. I wonder if it's related to the replica factories being raided recently.
I have two Steinhart GMTs for several years now. They're great watches with exceptional accuracy and quality for an excellent price. My only niggle is the faux patina, which I dislike immensely, but I like the Steinhart's enough to put up with it.
This 39mm “double-red sea dweller” homage from Steinhart cured my itching for Tudor BB 58. So, thanks to them and Gnomon, they helped me to save a few bucks
I have their ocean 39 GMT and it is like owning the real thing. It blows away my San Martin sub. Also, Gnome stands behind their watches. My San Martin not so much. I’ve dealt w both. I spent a month shipping my SM in for repair to faulty crown and they refused to fix it. Gnome sends express labels and gets it done for you w/o shipping costs. I’ve come to view the cheap Chinese knock offs as throw aways cause they don’t hold up in the end and service is hard to get. Good review.
I took the movement out of my 42mm red and put it into an Ocean One Kermit (green bezel) 103-1031 with cyclops ....now thats a great looking watch that Steinhart should create ....looks so good
I like my OVM because of the less writing on the dial and the non-Mercedes hands also I gravitate to non date models. Great review and I’m glad you finally got one. My OVM is now on a Bond 2022 strap and it is my most worn watch.
same here I love my OVM, it is an homage of such a rare sub version that it isn't so similar to all the other ones. I never liked the mercedes hand and the handset overall is much more legible
I've worn my Steinhart O1 MilSub (5513 homage) 39mm for 2 years and I love it. has an ETA movement which has remained accurate to - 2 secs p/d. Since you can't get a Rolex 5513 and I wouldn't wear it anyway the Steinhart it's by far the best Rolex 5513 homage as it doesn't have the Mercedes hand.
Great call-out Oleg. I agree that Steinhart are among the best Submariner no homage in the on market. I have a double green which scratches my Hulk itch and is solid enough to wear in the on pool. I love them.
I was wondering when the review would be up. Very good vintage inspired sub homage for sure. I've made a trade in my collection to get a Steinhart Pepsi ceramic GMT and I have no regrets. All Steinhart models are great quality, there's no denying that. Enjoy the watch in good health!
Hello Oleg and Mr.Bond. I don't understand why Steinhart seems to be an underrated watch company. In my opinion, their quality and craftsmanship are better than a good portion of the known watchmakers. (Talking to you Seiko) Lol. Its value for money is great and perhaps one of my best beaters including Squale'. I can't think of a better-made Rolex homage but I could be wrong. Thanks and all the best to you and yours. Cheers! Another great vid.
I would guess it's related to the fact that most of their watches (all of them?) aren't original designs. I've never owned one so I can't speak to it, but they do seem quite nice from videos.
Just recently a friend offered me his Ocean One and lent it to me to try. Must admit I was really impressed with most aspects plus the fit and comfort (the 42mm case). I have a 7” wrist and it wore very well especially if the thickness matched the 39 (I really don’t like thick watches). I did not buy it however not because I did not like it and the price was good too, just the fact I have way too many divers! My verdict however matches yours, if your okay with a homage then pull the trigger as I don’t think you will be disappointed.
great review Oleg! I am a big fan of the Gnomon Exclusives from Steinhart. They also have one with a Explorer dial and the OVM 39mm with Sword Hands, which I also own. All the things that you mentioned are true. However, there are some things that bother me personally. 1. The case is very flat which makes wearing it a little bit uncomfortable. Maybe it’s just the shape of my wrist? I wish the lugs would curve down a bit more. 2. My OVM features a double domed sapphire crystal, which I thought was very cool in the beginning. But now that I own this watch for over 1 year, the reflections are a bit annoying. It’s really hard to take photos of the watch. For sure you know what I’m talking about. I wish they would use a flat or a top hat style crystal instead. 3. I believe that San Martin offers also great value for money and really similar finishing to the Steinhart. I own both and having them side by side, makes it hard to justify spending almost double the price for a Steiny. Still, I really like the vintage aesthetic of the Steinhart and that was the reason why I bought it. No regrets though 👍🏻
I own a 39mm Steinhart OVM from Gnomon and I also own a Chr Ward C60 40mm. And I tell you, even if the Chr Ward is more than double the price, I still preffer the Steiny as it is such a lovable watch and really really sturdy. I have it for 4 years now, I wore it to the beach, I wore it to the shower and also when mountainbiking (I know it's not intended for that purpose) and It still runs +5s a day as good as new!!! Thanks for the video.
I own two Steinharts, a 39 mm Ocean one with the green ceramic bezel, and a 42 mm Ocean One Classic GMT with the blue/black combination ceramic bezel. These are both superb watches at any price, as to quality, appearance and functionality. The bezel action on the 39 mm is a bit stiff, but the one on the 42 mm GMT is perfect. Winding action on the Sellita 330 in the GMT is smoother as well, and it has a 50 hour power reserve. Love them both, but the GMT is my favourite, and would be the one I would choose if I had to settle on just one. The bracelets are also darned good at this price point. I notice one of the screws is loose on the bracelet in this video.
I own a Steinhart premium ocean watch. My major issues are the bezel freezes constantly despite cleaning and oiling. Second, the lack of curvature over the wrist. The case is just too flat. Lastly, the company has had years to incorporate an "on the fly" adjustment for the band. In summer most wrists expand, thus needing an expansion of the band. Many less expensive watches have great ways to do this without even taking off the watch. Steinhart should have fixed this problem years ago. The cost of casting models would be minor as the company uses the steel bands.
I've had a few homage watches including this Steinhart diver. In the end I stuck with the Tisell Marine Diver. Every similar but the Tisell has a better clasp and cost $250.
A lovely watch from Steinhart Oleg! I bought a VERY good second hand Ocean One Vintage a couple of years ago from eBay. One of my favourite watches. I’ve been eyeing this model for some time! 👍🏼😎
My favourite homage is the san martin sn004-g or 6200 retro diver. It homages the very first submariner. It also is kind of a acceptable homage because It homages a watch that you would be lucky to see IRL let alone own one.
@@24hourstime I have 5 San Martin watches, Octopus, Sub, Tuna, Turtle, 62mas. Happy with them all. I am looking at buying a used Steinhart off of ebay, but Aluminum bezel. I am spoiled with ceramic.
Wearing my SNoo4 now. SM is also using Selita movements in some of their offerings. I have one QC issue with SM, it was resolved without issue. SM is now have begun to offer original designs as well as homages.
I have 2 #Steinhart watches, one is the Ocean One 42 mm. and the other one is the vintage Military also in 42 mm. which I like. I like the size of the watch, and that´s also why I have chosen the Steinhart, they do make different sizes from the same watch. I do think that you were missing saying that the watch case is not an Oyster case, which I think is missing from Steinhart. I do understand the idea behind that decision - I love wearing them, and when you have them in your hand, you definitely feel a better sense of quality compared to other manufacturers of Homage watches, but they could certainly give more on their quality of the watch bracelet. I have to mention that I had to send my Ocean One back for repair 2 times due to a bad crown that couldn't adjust the date, last time it took way too long to get the watch back again. This has certainly meant that I have been reluctant regarding future purchases from Steinhart, a pity that they have not adjusted on the repair. It's just annoying when I have chosen to pay a little more for what should be a better quality, that the experience then became in the bad end. So the last 3 watches that I have bought came from #OceanX, and I must say that this has been a great experience! It's such a shame that they won't make a proper clasp for their watch strap, it would look so much nicer if they did it like "WMT" with an "S" and then some micro adjustments like on e.g. "R".
Yes, indeed. It’s a quality watch. Had my 39 mm kermit for 2 yers. Not a scratch on the glass. Movement eta2824-2 with a super silent rotor. The bracelet is a scratch magnet, soft quality metal. +5/day. Get the ceramic bezel.
Definitely one of the best value for money Subby homage, and you mentioned Ginault which I haven't heard in years and no one is reviewing that brand at least on my YT feed.
Great review. Keep thinking about a Steinhart. I have Squale 1545 with ETA 2824-2 and it runs +2 seconds a day. I have a Chronos a 116800 homage, and of course an Invicta pro diver.
Steinhart indeed provides a very comprehensive Rolex and Tudor inspired watches. I love its Ocean 1 39mm GMT chocolate so much but think it is still too pricey for my budget, hope Aliexpress brands will come out a similar piece...
I own a steinhart- bought one to wear on a recent holiday and loved it. Had very low expectations but it performed admirably and looked the part. If you can't afford a kermit or a pepsi but like the vibe - go steinhart, all day long I think.
I bought my OO39 before heading off to college in the fall and it’s been great. My only two complaints are the cyclops magnification (or lack thereof), and the clasp/bracelet pick up scratches very easily
I have liked Steinharts for years but never bought one. They seem to have great homage design and good quality. I am a cheap guy so I took a chance on the Chinese brand San Martin for $200. Amazing value and design and accuracy with Seiko NH35 movement (+2 sec/day). The build quality is excellent Mine has patina hands and black dial with no date and no logo or script. It's great to have this minimalist option.
I own 2 Steinhart watches and I will say that they are amazing quality for the money but I put it in 1st place for the price point but overall 1st place goes to Ginault. I have Ocean Rover ll and it looks and feels like a 10k watch. I love both brands and wear my Steinhart’s as everyday watches but the Ginault is just amazing. Thanks for your review.
Happy Friday from Chicago! I’ve wondered about Steinhart for a while and think they are good looking watch’s. I agree with you about the date I think it would be better without it. Great video!
I am a vintage watch guy but have a couple of beaters for the rough days (Seiko and Citizen divers). Never considered an hommage watch until I saw this 39mm Double Red. Can´t wear a vintage 1960s/1970´s 1665 or Speedy when sailing, riding MTBs or working on classic cars hence this Double Red was the perfect match to keep my vintage higher end watches safe - So I thought! My (never expected) problem: Although it is a budget watch I like it so much now that I don´t wear it when I need a true beater. I don´t want to ruin it. The seller was a Rolex collector who bought it for the same reason (mechanical affordable beater) and sold it like new to me for the same reason (too good to be ruined). He never used the watch. One thing I did better than him: I wear it frequently and the bracelet collected some nice scratches although I take care for the (non replaceable) rest. It is fun to wear when you need true waterproofness or are possibly not in the safest areas like on holiday. Sometimes I meet watch guys and most of them say that this sort of "beater" hommage is VERY acceptable.
I really appreciate your reviews, excited to see this review. I've been eyeing Steinhart for awhile, like many of us. I just found one of those gnomon Steinharts on kijji Montreal for 500cad. Mint condition, I just may pull the trigger.
Nice review mate ! This is one of my favourite watches and it’s not the ultimate sub homage but you might want to consider that this pays homage to the double red, a watch which is not on the market. I really really recommend this watch, I own a couple of Steinharts and they quality is top notch. If ure a Vintage diver Fan, This has to be in the watch collection and if not it also makes for a one watch fits all occasions category because of its size
Steinhsrt got me into the watch hobby. Nicely made watches at a very fair price. And I love their bracelets - I have very strong nails, so the clasp has never bothered me. I still have my Gnomon 39mm GMT Pepsi and I love it. One of my top 5 in my collection.
Thank you for this new thread. Well, I consider this piece as a very well executed one, and as you mentioned it keeps a perfect balance in terms of quality/price as well. Another good brand especialized in quality homages making is the swiss 'Davosa'. I forget to say that the american 'Lorier' is another good maker of Rolexe's homages (mainly of their GMT's) I like its date windows as it has been shown, and if this would be presented sorrounded with an squared crhomed border it would have been a nice touch. I give you my thumbs up because you are doing a great job!. Saludos!!
The 42 vs 39mm is a huge deal, IMO. Especially for the vintage models, but I generally think the case-design doesn't work very well in 42mm. I sold both my OVM and Ceramic Green 42mm and bought both models again in 39mm. Owned seven O1s altogether, still own that OVM and Ocean Green (both in 39mm) ... and after nearly three years with the brand, I do wish they'd do things a little differently in some regards. 1. I wish they offered lacquered dials for their "modern" looking divers - that would elevate the look of the dial so much. 2. Case-shape makes the watch feel way more top heavy than it should - and doesn't make for a very elegant impression on the wrist. Lugs are too straight and the case-back protrudes too much, pushing the whole thing up and away from the wrist. 3. Lume on the dial is pretty disappointing and the applied indices on my Ceramic Green look more like steel washers put on top of printed lume-plots. 4. Date magnifier is way too weak and barely does any magnification. 5. While the bracelet is very good, my San Martin 0109's got it beat: The SM has the better clasp and its links are flatter/thinner. All that said, I think Steinhart still have the edge over brands like San Martin in many ways. The finishing is a bit more "mature" (my SM 0109 has a hint of sharpness on some edges on the case - never experienced this with any Steinhart). Steinhart's choice of movement is pretty much unbeatable at the price, they regulate their watches very well and, being a German company, having to deal with warranty-/QC-issues is much less of a hassle for me than it would be with a company which will require me to send the watch back to China for repairs. Overall, I think it's pretty amazing what Steinhart are able to pull off, offering high quality Swiss Made divers at the prices they're asking.
Nice and fair review, Oleg. There are other models in 39mm that are homage watches by Steinhart. I think the price is around 500 USD which seems like a good deal to me. I am not sure of the thickness of the models I looked at. One had a date. 14mm seems thick to me. The model you have really does remind me of the vintage submariner and I do like the no date version as it does not have the cyclops which I do not like on watches no matter what brand. I don't even like them on the newer Seikos.
My Steinhart Ocean 39 GMT Pepsi runs just under +1s/day, reliable, water resistant 300m, ETA automatic movement, 20mm lug width and comes with a great jubilee-style bracelet. Forget homages -- it's one of the best value WATCHES to own, period.
Very nice watch. But I disagree with respect to the selita movement. I had bad experiences with this movement in Oris watches. Problems with the winding mechanism. I see on their website that they now incorporate NH35 movements in their dive watches which is a good thing. Thanks for your always interesting reviews.
I debated for so long between this watch and the Tisell Submersible, for the classic sub appearance, and came really close to buying the Steinhart but changed my mind and went with the Tisell thanks to your older videos! While I'm sure I would love the Steinhart, I have no regrets about the Tisell. It ticked every box for appearance and in my opinion looks a bit better than the Steinhart. I love the subtle sunburst on the dial, no date window, less lines of text, and the serif font for the Tisell brand name. The Steinhart logo and font look a bit cartoonish on this classic sub IMO. The Tisell isn't perfect. The bracelet is subpar because of the protruding male endlinks, and the bezel action is disappointing. It keeps very accurate time with the high beat Miyota movement and looks stunning for half the cost of the Steinhart. The quality of your videos is always great, and I'm glad this one reaffirmed my buying decision! haha
I started collecting watches a couple of years ago. My firsst Rolex homage watch was similarly spec'd and from a competitor. While the quality and price of the Steinhart is very attractive, I would not recommend going down this homage path . At some point, it will feel like a cheap copy. As for the Steinhart, I wish the dial wasn't printed and that applied indices were used. Good review, though.
Can anybody please solve the mysterious and deeply personal question of how much the duty taxes / special taxes were on receipt of the goods into an E.U. country ? Steinhart Germany only offer the 42 mm version.
Please do not ask this deeply personal question, asking about import duties on a product imported from an Asian country into an EU country is a taboo question akin to asking about personal banking details, sexual preferences and personal health issues. The question of a possible 0- 100 euro import tax on a 450 dollar product MUST NOT be discussed - EVER.
I have had two Steinharts. A 39mm just like in this video and a stunning39 pepsi GMT. I sold them both. Let me. explain. Both watches had difficult bezels to turn. This video also highlights the issue with opening the clasp, it ws sharp and painful on both watches I had. And the final, ands most telling thing that made me sell both Steinys was the fact that the screw links were prime to becoming loose on both watches. I had to check everyday. to make sure they were. to becoming loose. and I would lose a pin. So I sold them on. Lovely watches though, they look stunning but the three issues I listed here are my own reasons for moving on.
You should check out WMT watches, homages even better than this. They got faded bezels and domed saphire. They even got a homage of the famous 6538 James Bond. If you cant find one with the overly agressive patina yout good. Think their standard models don't have that
They look great, really close to the originals, but for about the same price you get a Swiss watch with an Elaboré grade ETA/Sellita from Steinhart, against a chinese watch with probably a Myota (I'm not sure). They might still be good watches though...
Love LOVE my Steinharts. I used to own Rolexes. I sold them, replaced them with Steinharts, and I am just as happy...while my bank account is ecstatic!
I'm done with unoriginal homage watches. But i am looking very much forward to the Revelot Hexmariner. That one really speaks to me and is different enough.
Thanks for pointing that out. 5 lines is too much either way haha
@@24hourstime True, but at least the red is a little more subtle, not as obvious as 5 white lines.
I wonder if it's related to the replica factories being raided recently.
i have and enjoy a steinhart "cermit". it actually was released before the rolex cermit. so which one is the homage?
I have two Steinhart GMTs for several years now. They're great watches with exceptional accuracy and quality for an excellent price. My only niggle is the faux patina, which I dislike immensely, but I like the Steinhart's enough to put up with it.
This 39mm “double-red sea dweller” homage from Steinhart cured my itching for Tudor BB 58. So, thanks to them and Gnomon, they helped me to save a few bucks
SAME, albeit temporarily, the itch is still strong for the Black Bay
I have their ocean 39 GMT and it is like owning the real thing. It blows away my San Martin sub. Also, Gnome stands behind their watches. My San Martin not so much. I’ve dealt w both. I spent a month shipping my SM in for repair to faulty crown and they refused to fix it. Gnome sends express labels and gets it done for you w/o shipping costs. I’ve come to view the cheap Chinese knock offs as throw aways cause they don’t hold up in the end and service is hard to get. Good review.
Fun fact. A gnomon is the projecting piece on a sundial that shows the time by the position of its shadow.
It took me long enough to get one. Happy that you’re enjoying your Bond strap:))
same here I love my OVM, it is an homage of such a rare sub version that it isn't so similar to all the other ones.
The Ginault OR2 is the ultimate homage, nothing else comes close.
Enjoy the watch in good health!
do you think the bezel markings will fade overtime?
Thanks man! If Steinhart made their own original designs that would be killer
@@24hourstime they actually do have their own design: take a look at Ocean 2 line, as well as marine chronographs and pilot watches ;)
I got Revue Thommen diver. Pretty much the same specs, but 42, magnifying glass over the date and extension in bracelet.
I have had/have over a dozen Steinhart watches. Quality is excellent. They are as good as any of the higher end watches I own.
Well, with the double red selling for $50k nowadays, the Steinhart OVR 39 is a great compromise =).
The cost of casting models would be minor as the company uses the steel bands.
i have mine for 4 years. still love it!
I've had a few homage watches including this Steinhart diver. In the end I stuck with the Tisell Marine Diver. Every similar but the Tisell has a better clasp and cost $250.
Tisell is great! I’ve had one as well. Well made and a great price
Would you say this Steinhart offers better quality than the Certina DS Action for the money?
Hi Mate! Nice watch. Do u know where Gnomon ships from?
A lovely watch from Steinhart Oleg! I bought a VERY good second hand Ocean One Vintage a couple of years ago from eBay. One of my favourite watches. I’ve been eyeing this model for some time! 👍🏼😎
My favourite homage is the san martin sn004-g or 6200 retro diver. It homages the very first submariner. It also is kind of a acceptable homage because It homages a watch that you would be lucky to see IRL let alone own one.
I need to look into San Martin. I hear a lot of good things
I sold mine because of the poor bracelet and clasp.
Great quality for the price. Also great resell value usually.
And I think THE best homage to a double red Sea-Dweller.
I just ordered my first Steinhart, the double green premium, quite keen to give it a try.
Definitely one of the best value for money Subby homage, and you mentioned Ginault which I haven't heard in years and no one is reviewing that brand at least on my YT feed.
Yeah Ginault just disappeared
Mr. Bond is the cutest dog on the planet, love him dearly !
The value for money with a Steinhart is outstanding
I've got the 42mm HULK. I can't get enough of it. I love it.
I bought my OO39 before heading off to college in the fall and it’s been great. My only two complaints are the cyclops magnification (or lack thereof), and the clasp/bracelet pick up scratches very easily
Stunning ocean one with date. 39mm best choice.
I have owned two 42mm versions, sold them, and now own a 39mm Vintage Explorer. Absolutely fantastic watches for the money, and the 39mm is much nicer
I’m so sad they are sold out! I’d really love to buy one lol if anyone has a used one they don’t want anymore I’d glady buy it from you
I just wish they made this exact model without the old radium lume.
I have 13 watches and my Steinhart 42 sub is my favorite! It’s older has the ETA 2824 and great time keeper +0.2 daily over 5 years now!
Had mine for 3 years as a daily beater, sea swim with it, it’s never missed a beat
I have the Batman design 39 mm great whatch keeps accurate time
I own 2 Steinhart watches and I will say that they are amazing quality for the money but I put it in 1st place for the price point but overall 1st place goes to Ginault. I have Ocean Rover ll and it looks and feels like a 10k watch. I love both brands and wear my Steinhart’s as everyday watches but the Ginault is just amazing. Thanks for your review.
Great informative video proving genuine value feedback and advice on this Steinhart watch. Well done 👍
Happy Friday from Chicago! I’ve wondered about Steinhart for a while and think they are good looking watch’s. I agree with you about the date I think it would be better without it. Great video!
Thanks Tristan! Have a great weekend man
The proportions of the watch are way off IMHO, I prefer closer homages, like from San Martin, Cronos or Seestern.
Yeah the sub homages of steinhart have always seemed slightly off
I am a vintage watch guy but have a couple of beaters for the rough days (Seiko and Citizen divers).
Yes. I've owned one for 5 years... Flawless..
Worn every day?
No. I'm a watch collector. But it's been through hell and back
Can we change homage to POS?
That's Archie's domain :)
Just a great watch! If you have a limited budget this is a winner
When is the review for the Tudor Royal coming that’s on your wrist? 😉
Steinhart vs San Martin and such?
I agree with everything, but not about the date window, that looks good and clearly legible as it is! Nice watch anyway, even if i do not like homages
Where"s Bond?
nice watch i really like it... and the price is great.... cheers
Steinhsrt got me into the watch hobby. Nicely made watches at a very fair price. And I love their bracelets - I have very strong nails, so the clasp has never bothered me. I still have my Gnomon 39mm GMT Pepsi and I love it. One of my top 5 in my collection.
My wife gave me for my 30th Birthday a Steinhart Gmt Cole Jubilee as a birthday gift! Good watch!
Thank you for this new thread.
Well, I consider this piece as a very well executed one, and as you mentioned it keeps a perfect balance in terms of quality/price as well.
Another good brand especialized in quality homages making is the swiss 'Davosa'. I forget to say that the american 'Lorier' is another good maker of Rolexe's homages (mainly of their GMT's)
I like its date windows as it has been shown, and if this would be presented sorrounded with an squared crhomed border it would have been a nice touch.
I give you my thumbs up because you are doing a great job!.
Saludos!!
Don't forget the invicta pro diver homage! LOL
usually small wrist=dont go beyond/past 45mm lug distance.....
Great watch and great video. You nailed it.
I have this model, and I agree with your observations. Kudos. Good video
Just picked a 42 double red on eBay! Not cheap at $700!
Do you still own Oris watches?
The mismatch of different colors on the dial and bezel is a disappointing..
The quality of your videos is always great, and I'm glad this one reaffirmed my buying decision! haha
I love that watch and it is on my list for long time
I started collecting watches a couple of years ago.
Nice review.👍Steinhart’s Ocean One DOES seem to be the best Submariner homage. I am between adding one of these or an Ocean One GMT to my collection.
Totally agree...wish I could afford one myself
The Mr Bond parts are just 👌🏼👌🏼
This Steinhart would look amazing on a Bond NATO strap.
Be careful. The screws are about to come out the bracelet
Good eye! I noticed that when editing the video haha
A bit of blue loctite no problem anymore
Best $500 watch in the business 👌
