Just picked up my first Steinhart: the Ocean One 39 mm w jubilee bracelet. Very satisfied. The only nitpick would be lack of polished center links on the bracelet. I’ve been waiting a few years and finally gifted myself this year. Thank you for your everyday man vibe on your channel. New subscriber!
I’ve got 2 Steinharts love em both, I don’t recall any shipping charge ever, even sending it back to Germany for a minor repair was free, and they sent a very nice Steinhart ink pen along with the repaired watch
Good vid. Good watch. Re: clasp - Seiko does a titanium clasp for the Marine Master line which has a push-button, fold over release with a cool micro-adjust - driver's extension. I've purchased multiples and use them on various watches. Keep up the good vids!
I did the same case finishing adjustment (with a pad to polish ceramic stovetops) to my Victorinox INOX Pro Diver. It’s my watch and I didn’t want it to be too shiny.
Breatth of fresh air. What a delight to hear your insights, your honesty and your down to earth good humour. Good luck Watch Man; I’m looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Man you just taught me allot because as a single dad taking care of kids I cant afford to drop $1000 for a watch. I have tried 2 Invicta's and they are pretty cool but do not do it for me. I have been looking at a Steinhart and this video may of helped me make my decision.. Thank you
The Steinharts are great! I'm surprised that the black is this inexpensive. Once you convert it to dollars and include shipping it's closer to $500, but whatever. I bought the double green premium ceramic and the blue premium ceramic which are both excellent, have a display back, and are about $100 more. The Pepsi and Batman GMTs are great too, and slightly more money.
Really good video and info. Glad you showed it on wrist. Amazing how many don’t. Looking to buy one but unsure on a 39 or 42 for my 7 in. wrist. I usually tend to go big. Thoughts?
Great review, so I just got a rolex sub 124060 and my bb58 fits so much better, because of the 300m on the rolex its back sits very high on the wrist. I have three tudors and several grand seikos, and its hard to tell the difference between the rolex and tudors.
Great review, buddy. Wearing mine right now, this watch is just perfect in all senses, love mine. I own Tudors, Omegas and Grand Seikos, but the Steinhart Ocean One is by far my preferred. Go ahead and grab yours.
2nd video of yours I've watched- I follow your low-cost options, I'm just as happy with my $40 Casio Duro as I do with my $200 Kamasu- and see no reason to buy a super-expensive watch.
Great review Randy. I have been looking at these for a while but in the 39mm case as my wrist is 6.75in. Your review has pushed me over the edge and I will place an order today from gnomon watches which also carries Steinhart - first time buying from this retailer so I hope it's ok. BTW, I just stumbled on your channel and like it very much, thus subscribed 😀 Thank you again, and have a wonderful day.
I have a Steinhart - it was my second nice watch purchase after my Moonie. It's a great watch - at around $400, punches way above it's weight. Jump on it now while the Dollar/Euro is favorable.
Just found your channel and immediately subscribed. Sitting here wearing my squale 20 Atmos root beer which I love, waiting for my steinhart ocean one 39 Kermit to show up in the mail any day now. I'm excited. It will be my first steinhart. Awesome review.
I've had my 42mm since 2017, and it's been running at +3 right out of the box. Very reliable and I love the smooth sweep. Only niggle is that on occasions the bezel feels a little stiff.
true, mine just got stuck one day. Just needed to put it in hot water (watch upside down, so the bezel is under water) and then rotate the bezel for a few rotations; As good as new after that
Excellent video. You are a very good public speaker. Maybe Steinhart bs San Martin…..and a video where you could share more about what I think are perceived at ethical considerations regarding profiting off some else’s work and deceiving people who assume it’s the parent designer’s product.
This same watch has been my daily beater for the past 7 years, never missed a beat. First couple months i was ocd and monitor it but it kept 2-3secs a day after that i gave up checking it daily LOL. My next purchase next month is to me my grail watch the 39.5mm Planet Ocean :)
I also purchased an ocean one in 2014. It a gotten a little slow about a three minutes every 24hrs. It still looks new, but the bezel becomes stiff if you don't use it
Nice review, I got that watch Green Bezzel Black dial, I also got the Debaufre and Grovana versions , my Debaufre is Blue Dial Green Bezzel. The Grovana is black dial Red bezzel, its obvious that they are "badge engineered" variants of the same product , BUT with very suckle differences, and finish quality, the best finished is the GROVANA, man that thing pops like a " grail watch" it surpasses the Stien, but i guess it comes at a " balance" in that it has the Selitta SW2000 as opposed the 2824-2 of the others, the sapphire on it is that good, i think " bloody hell did Swarovski make this". There is a further variant out there in the form of the Robert Possiden, which i want to complete the set. Like you I also have a Seamaster, i guess i would not really benefit from owning a Rolex Sub, ( having worked my entire ass off for so long I could afford one), i want a Breitling Super Ocean, Steel fish , Colt now. I m English but you are a guy to sink a bottle of Jack with on these Looooong winter nights, Good health man !

I have the same exact 42mm model for a year and a half now, and it still is amazing to me. I landscape professionally and wear my Steinhart EVERYDAY, it keeps amazing time at +6 seconds a day!
I could not agree more about Steinhart. I have three now and absolutely love the things - everything you say about the build quality is true. Two are Rolex homages - a 42 mm Ocean One "double green" - a "hulk" homage with the same water resistance as Rolex, but with a sapphire crystal exhibtion caseback that shows off the nicely decorated Sellita movement, and a 42 mm "Classic Ceramic GMT" with the blue/black bezel that is homage to the Rolex GMT master "Batman" , but beats in in water resistance by a full 200 meters. Kudos to Rolex for their trendsetting styling and leadership in watchmaking, but the law of diminishing returns applies in spades to these two - together the two Rolexes would have cost north of $40,000.00 in Canadian dollars (if indeed you could actually buy them), just to get a nicer movement that only my jeweller will ever see, and that coveted brand name on the dial.
Love your videos to a certain degree - i buy watches love swiss made and there movements love Seiko - citizens - Casio - own all of them - I love Invicta watches also if you know what you looking for and which Invicta to buy it will blew you away - Invicta got certain watches that cost around $300-500 that will destroy this watch LoL do your research thats how you learn about watches - Good video i agree with 70 percent of your opinions SIR -
I have a steinhart ocean 1 two years a very strong tool watch which is what roles used to be now most of them are locked up in safes and not used as they were ment to be buy a steinhart and enjoy
I have the Ocean One GMT coke bezel version of this watch. And I agree with everything you say about these. They are amazing value and build quality. I love mine!
Have a ocean one 39mm green ceramic bezel....what can I say! The quality is incredible, solid beautiful watch . I have the ETA 2824-2 version rather than the SW200 (same thing anyway). The build quality is almost on a par with my Tudor, and surpasses my Tissots and Oris Can't go wrong for £350. Well impressed
Steinhart does make some good looking watches. They're so close to the Rolex that it does give one a slightly queasy feeling, but if you want a coke-face GMT or kermit sub, well, the alternatives cost several orders of magnitude more--and it's still a very competent watch. The only real concern with these is similar to a lot of other microbrands: when it comes time for maintenance, the cost of refurbishment is generally on par with the cost of a new watch. Something to keep in mind.
I got my pro diver for $65 and think it’s a great watch, and I don’t worry about ruining it at work. But the milling on the case kind of sucks, it’s sharp enough to cut meat lol How would this watch compare to a star king? If I ever was to replace my invicta I think I would look to one of them.
Well, given it does appear competent and is subtle in it's overall finish and is well done, and regardless, of it's Rolex cover, I find it very appealing. I have no itch for a Rolex. I'm not saying they don't build and create fine watches. They just don't "ring my 🔔. I would love this watch even more were it hard anodized Gray / Black, but I could live easily with it as is. Though as we said, date date is really what I want in this caliber of watch. I'm also surprised some watch makers have not simplified the Abbreviations for Day of the week in their complications for days of the week. I know it would go against convention, but might make the comp easier in movement design.
Bought exactly this model, 2 years old one, in nearly new conditions, for 280€ Steinhart. What do you want more? German Quality and a Swiss Movement, the Best combination...
From watching the video, I think it's a great video. But a lot of people tend to say the watch doesn't go in the arm flat, if that makes any sense, but I haven't had any issues. No jagged sharp edges smooth haven't had any issues, and like I say, I have collected it over probably over 70 to 80 watches over the years. So I don't know what the guy is talking about and again.I'm not trying to pick the video apart. It's a great video I just never had any issues with the watch.
Best Steinhart review I‘ve ever seen. All the assessments are 100% applicable. I own the same Ocean One and come to the exact same conclusion. Bought directly at Steinhart facilities in Germany. Nice and friendly real people. Showroom, workshop, administration. All is there including Günter Steinhart CEO and founder of the brand. Can it come any better? No. Not at this price point.
Another nice review, thanks 👍🙂. So hey, have an OVM mk3, basically same thing but Rolex 5517 homage dial and no date and alum bezel. Best compliment I can give it is unlike a Submariner I can do yardwork or housework without worrying about it. I don't care if it's called a fake Rolex, homage, junk, whatever. When I'm using a chainsaw trying to keep from cutting a foot off, it's simply my watch: a tool to tell me it's getting late and the wife is going to start worrying 🙂👍
I have 4 watches from Steinhart, these are one of the reasons why I will never buy a watch from "R", like never. So f.... great quality, They should at least cost 5 times more of the price today. The reason the case does not look like the "Oyster" case is due to the "fact" that the vendor has delivered cases to "R" in the past, so they will get in big trouble if they supplied Steinhart with a 1:1 case. There is only one minus with watches from Steinhart and that's the clasp, they should change this to what other manufactures have with the micro adjustment clasp.
I currently own the 39mm OVM and 39mm Ceramic Green. I have owned the 39mm Marine Blue (Gnomon exclusive, non LE), 39 GMT Premium (OG GMT Master/Pussy Galore homage), 42mm OVM, 42mm Ceramic Green and the Panda Paul Newman homage. For a guy like me with a puny 17cm (6.7in IIRC) wrist, the 39mms are the only way to go. I tried the 42s at first but quickly regretted that decision when I realized how much better the 39mm case looked on me. Plus: From a visual/design standpoint, the vintage ones work a lot better in the smaller size IMO. Other than that: The value these watches offer is quite incredible. I do own a Christopher Ward C63 (39mm) and while that thing offers higher quality overall, nicer details and a more elaborate finish, it was/is also more than double the price of an Ocean One. For the money, Steinharts are almost a steal IMO - if you can live with the lack of originality in the design, those rather flat lugs and the fact that they put on date-loupes that are way too "weak". And while I do prefer their vintage offerings, I gotta say that Ceramic Green is one of my favorite watches that I currently own - easily a candidate for a one-piece watch collection. I guess one reason for this is that it's actually not simply trying to ape a Submariner but does its own thing in some ways. The case shape is nothing like a Sub's for example and when I put it next to a buddy's mid 90s Sub, it was quite apparent that the Steinhart isn't simply a copy with a different brand-name slapped on. Cons: Cyclops needs higher magnification, lugs/case could be a bit more contoured, dial color/finish looks a bit too simple and not black enough (wish it was lacquered, deep black like on the Sub or on my Christopher Ward) and the applied indices aren't *really* applied - they look more like steel donuts put on top of printed-on lume plots. Pros: Price, availability, great bracelet, good clasp (except for the only mediocre outer bit), high build quality, very good finish, excellent customer service, great regulation out of the box.
I have five Steinhart watches, not all look like Rolex homages either. I also own a Rolex Daytona and two Omega Seamasters, along with Fortis, etc. The Steinharts are what Rolex used to be, good quality, rugged and affordable tool watches you can wear doing just about anything. I wear two of my Steinharts for work and they've been beat up and scratched, and still look good, keep great time and just work the way they should. I'll never buy a Rolex again.
I purchased my GMT-OCEAN 1 BLACK Aluminium 2017 and I really like the watch. I've been dealing with Rolex IWC and Omega Oris And many more watches over the twenty five years. I really like this watch. It is a great watch for the price. Is the only problem I have on the bezel If you scratches try to replace it bezel. I wouldn't really call it a homage watch.I know people do but there's other watches out there that I have that look just like rolex. Seiko Citizen, and otherwise that looks similar. So my thing is it's an awesome watch.Stan Hart makes a great watch and like I said, I've had it since 2017 and I haven't had any problems with it.Great video that I'm going to purchase another one and I'll tell anybody if you don't like to watch it on by but it's awesome Watch you won't be disappointed.
I had the OVM 39 for a while. Nice watch for the money. Sold it for a Seiko SBDC051. That was originally a $1000 watch when they came out in 2017 and you can pick them up now for around $600. I would recommend that. It's a little bigger at 42.5mm but the lug to lug is only 49mm so perfect for 7in wrist and up. The finishing is amazing and with the indices and bezel together plays well with the light. It is black dial and black bezel so can go with anything which is one of the great things about the Sub as well.
I'm not sure if this is a joke or not. My "b roll" is pretty horrible. Most of the time I'm using a Sony a7riv and a tamron 17-28. For most of the watch shots I just use my iPhone 13
@@cheapwatchman_official nope no joke dude! I love watching your channels and the focus change on your camera is good and fast that is why I asked! Keep on keeping on love what you do...do what you love
That back play is a fault. My 42mm did that and I sent it back, it returned with no back play. I bought a 39mm and sold it so knew when I received the 42mm it was faulty.
Great video. You should check out MTM watches. I believe they're out of California. I personally have owned a Patriot model for around a decade. MTM recently added a more economical line.
I owned the exact same watch, it's really nice. Ended up selling it to fund a Seiko 62 MAS reissue which is a better watch in every way for a bit more money but I really enjoyed the steinhardt while I had it.
@@deanwaller8283 probably on paper. It's a roll of the dice which movement you will actually receive as steinhardt often drop in different movements from different manufacturers over the production run of a given model based on availability and price fluctuations in the supplier market. Personally my ETA movement watches have needed servicing every 5 years or so on average. I have a few mid to higher end seikos and they are all unserviced after a decade or more. All my watches are exposed to heavy use (daily manual labor, diving, sailing, hunting and fishing in remote settings ect). My personal experience is clearly that a mid level swiss movement is considerably more prone to deregulation under heavy use over time than the equivalent Seiko.
Have you had a look at the Tissell watches? They have have some nice looking options but I have not seen them up close. Be good to hear your thoughts on the brand.
Bought an Ocean One. Took it to my local watchshop to have some links removed. The owner told me: That's the easiest link removement I've ever done. No pins to be hammered out. just a few screws and you're done.
Randy, enjoying your new channel, think I’ve watched all of the vids but I don’t think I’ve heard you talk about how well any of them tells time. Is that because that’s no longer an issue (all are good at that) or just not important to watch aficionados? I have been burned before buying something that looks great but didn’t keep time well. Nothing worse than having to constantly reset it.
I don’t have one of those fancy machines that shows accuracy. These automatic watches aren’t the most accurate. Can be as much as 30 seconds off each day. But for me it’s not really the point. Then tend to need movement to get them going again after they’ve sat for a while so I am constantly resetting them
My Steinharts all have ETA movements, the new ones have Sellita since ETA has stopped supplying movements outside the Swatch Group brands like Omega and Tissot, Rado etc. Sellita used to produce ETA movements under license for Swatch Group products, so the Sellita SW200 is identical to the ETA 2824-2. Mine have been tuned by my watch guy to keep +/- 3 seconds a day which is pretty incredible for these movements.
that is like an invicta with non reflecting saphire glass andcmore luminova. I actually do not see the pointvin spending 500 Euros more on that watch than on an invicta... which.. you can buy 5 of, if it gets too scratched. It happens here the same as with modern mobile phones. We are expected to pay a lot more for a product which offers minimal subtile differences in comparison with a much affordable one.

Couldn't agree more!
They are more expensive now.
Great video. I own the 42mm Steinhart OVM Gen 1 and is absolutely beautiful and much more affordable and attainable than the Rolex Milsub.
One of the best homage watch the Steinhart
Steinhart does make some good looking watches. They're so close to the Rolex that it does give one a slightly queasy feeling, but if you want a coke-face GMT or kermit sub, well, the alternatives cost several orders of magnitude more--and it's still a very competent watch. The only real concern with these is similar to a lot of other microbrands: when it comes time for maintenance, the cost of refurbishment is generally on par with the cost of a new watch. Something to keep in mind.
You should review the Ginault Ocean Rover II and Silent Service. Steinhart is great, but the ORII and SS are next level.
Great review!
What's your wrist size?
I got my pro diver for $65 and think it’s a great watch, and I don’t worry about ruining it at work.
But the milling on the case kind of sucks, it’s sharp enough to cut meat lol
How would this watch compare to a star king? If I ever was to replace my invicta I think I would look to one of them.
I own three Steinharts, all are very good.
Could you talk about how to buy and what to expect buying oversees? Thanks!
Great review of a great watch! Ps nice Justice LP there my fellow Tallica fan 😎👊🏽🤘🏽
Would love to see a review of the Steinhardt GMT.
Definitely a great watch to wear and be proud of, looks awesome!!
Couldn't agree more!
Looks like a new edition to my collection is required. Thank you for this info, your time and effort.
Hope you enjoy it!
They have a Titanium version that looks incredible.
@@cheapwatchman_official I'll have to check it out. Thanks Randy...
I own the 39mm version of this model - a terrific watch
Bought exactly this model, 2 years old one, in nearly new conditions, for 280€ Steinhart. What do you want more? German Quality and a Swiss Movement, the Best combination...
I have that watch ever 4 years now and it’s awesome
A vid on your squale 1545 orig as a comparison to the steinhart will be much appreciated
It’s coming
Steinhart’s are amazing watches for the price. I own a few of them and never had any problems with them.
It's a great video I just never had any issues with the watch.
i have the invicta 9937 with sw200-1. its worth the price but may not be as good as steinhart. i am now looking to buy the gmt steinhart
Me too
Best Steinhart review I‘ve ever seen.
I don't think they sould cost 5 times more. Maybe the R sould cost 1/5 of the current prices
Received mine today and it's already one of my favorites.
I have the same steinhart its a fantastic watch all the watch you'll ever need
It's a fantastic brand, I love the Ocean 39 GMT two tone Chocolate! Too pricey for me though...
Top notch film work my man! What camera are you filming with just curious?
I'm not sure if this is a joke or not. My "b roll" is pretty horrible. Most of the time I'm using a Sony a7riv and a tamron 17-28. For most of the watch shots I just use my iPhone 13
@@cheapwatchman_official nope no joke dude! I love watching your channels and the focus change on your camera is good and fast that is why I asked! Keep on keeping on love what you do...do what you love
That back play is a fault. My 42mm did that and I sent it back, it returned with no back play. I bought a 39mm and sold it so knew when I received the 42mm it was faulty.
I want this watch.. but I can't find any information about the movement and accuracy of it..
Great video.
You should check out MTM watches. I believe they're out of California. I personally have owned a Patriot model for around a decade. MTM recently added a more economical line.
I will check it out
@@cheapwatchman_official check out Lorier. Husband & wife vintage look watches around $400.
Sugess Diver is a value alternative. Seagull 2130 movement.
I just picked one up on the secondary market for $225 😊
I have already had invicta of the same rolex model and color. Interesting model for sure.
I owned the exact same watch, it's really nice. Ended up selling it to fund a Seiko 62 MAS reissue which is a better watch in every way for a bit more money but I really enjoyed the steinhardt while I had it.
Really?pretty sure the steinhart movement is absolutely better than the Seiko
I've been looking at them, yes. Trying to get one in
I second the Tissell, after my exhaustive search of a great “homage” sub I settled on the Tissell, took a minute to get one but I’m totally satisfied!
Review the Ginault
Love that brand. I want the Pepsi GMT 38mm.
nice
that is like an invicta with non reflecting saphire glass andcmore luminova.
