  • The Walther PPQ 22lr is 1:1 size ratio rimfire version of the "Police Pistol Quick Defence" centerfire pistol. This is the 5" barreled model and it is great for practicing for steel challenge or just plinking or even self defense drills.

    Love the setup on your ranch there. You guys are so lucky you can shoot a handgun on your own property. Here in Australia we are only allowed to shoot handguns at gun ranger and we can't do all the fun random stuff you could do on your own property. So we can't get all the practice we would want. Love the video. Cheers.

    Thanks, Buffalo
    These are very good choices for training. I always justify a .22 like this...The gun is FREE compared to the cost of regular ammo after a few trips to the range.
    It is important to practice with the full size gun also, but learning the basics and manual of arms with a .22 is LOT cheaper.
    Hammer fired most likely because striker fired .22s are notorious for failures to fire (light primer strikes)
    NEED = current inventory + 1.

    • @buffalosoutdoors
      @buffalosoutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Gary. You're spot on with your comment (as usual). It is important to practice with your actual carry gun but the .22 can help you flatten the learning curve.

    Great video. Dealer had only Winchester super x 1280 FPS, hollow point ammo when I purchased this gun. I had frequent (more than once per 20 rounds) failure to extract and feed issues with that ammunition. Have since used higher energy hollow point (CCI Velocitor) and round nose Eley target with no issues in last 500 rounds. Accurate, fun gun, but I agree that you will make up for the lower per round cost with more rounds.

    Pistols sometimes fit like your favorite pair of shoes. If you pick up one and hit everything you aim at you found a friend for life. If that pistol is one of those you better buy two. I like the long barrel and internal hammer. If you shoot poorly a lighter trigger is no cure for sure. The fixed barrel is supposed to make 22 pistols shoot accurately. The only thing I don’t care for is the little skinny barrel and threaded cap and shroud. However, expensive European air guns use light shrouded barrels to improve accuracy. Kydex holsters are great holsters, but if you bought one for every gun you have; it gets expensive. I can carry different size pistols and revolvers in one inexpensive belt holster. If you don’t have a gun in it you can just leave it on your belt. Every time you pull a gun from a Kydex holster it makes noise. I prefer not making any sound. The only sound I want to make is Bang. I used an Uncle Mikes holster for years they work for so many guns I buy a couple at a time. I use it deer hunting to carry a long barrel revolver too. There just handy little deals that do more than just one thing. Bianchi Speed Strips are great ammo gadgets for 38/357 revolvers. They let you carry extra ammo and are easier to carry than speed loaders and work for more than just one revolver. Uncle Mike’s Supper Belt Slide 86900 holster; Amazon for under $20 dollars. Bianchi Speed Strips two for $10 dollars. Nothing new about this stuff, but they have been around a long time for a reason.

    Trigger seems very similar to my PPQ Q5 - just a bit heavier. I have to give Walther (Umarex?) kudos for being able to do this with a rimfire semi-auto handgun, they didn't just stop in making this identical to the 5" PPQ M2, they actually went out of their way to mimic the trigger which is no small task on a 22lr!
    I already ordered this thing for training and handling experience, but I feel like I could easily send a CRAP ton of rounds downrange with this thing if it's a good as everyone says it is. I don't have it yet, but I'd say it seems like one of the best rimfire semi-autos available right now at any price. I just wish they were able to fit more rounds in these 22 pistols. :(

    Buffalo's Outdoors,
    As always, I very much enjoyed watching your video. Thank you very much for uploading it.
    I have one question though.
    A .22lr pistol allows one to practice one's shooting fundamentals very economically.
    Unfortunately, one cannot simulate the recoil of more powerful calibers.
    Do you know of any .22lr handgun that has a lot of recoil (the more the better, but at least comparable to a small 9mm pistol)?
    Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

    One of my biggest pistol regrets is not getting the Walther PPQ 9mm when I used my latest pistol permit. I live in New Jersey (please don't hold this against me I was born here) So, because I live in NJstan pistol permits are a chore to acquire at times. I will eventually get my PPQ. I would also like to get the 22 LR version, as well. Hell, we even need a pistol permit for Pellet pistols purchases and we are back to a 10 round limit from 15 - again! I need to hit the lottery so that I can move my entire family out of here to head West and throw some love to your channel. Give me some numbers, lol. We will split it. Thanks brother. PS. I am happy to say that I just bought a Beretta 1301 Tactical 12 gauge and it is amazing. It will cycle even the lightest loads. I wonder if you've ever tried one out? The comp version is very popular with 3 gun.

    Great job. I don't see any videos on your channel for a 10/22. I've heard people say the 10/22 could be considered for self defense. I'd like to see your point of view on that.

    Nice job on the draw. The time between the draw and the first shot is hard to master but you have it down!
    Keep up the good content!

    Nice! I think I’ll have to check into one. I was thinking about the Glock 22 but this one looks better to me.

      I have both and I do prefer this one. I like the Glock because it is an actual striker fired gun with authentic feel of a striker fired trigger but overall I'd recommend this PPQ over it.

    I have the exact 5” PPQ 22LR. Having shot maybe 1500 rnds, it hangs. Next round is loaded, but hammer not cocked. With Federal Match, happens 50%. Even on a clean oiled gun. Trying to figure out what’s happening. Seems to take jacketed better. Ideas? I see you recommend oiling at the range if needed. I’ll try that. But it happened today on a freshly oiled and cleaned PPQ.

      Did you get your problem solved? Mine went back to Walther twice. First for a new barrel which only took an eleven day turn around. Then big problems, needed a new slide which was not in stock and took near 2 months. In the mean time I asked them for a 4 inch slide and barrel after waiting a month with no gun and they sent that and it worked perfect. 2 months later I received the 5 inch slide and that now works perfect. They let me keep the 4 in barrel and slide also. They said they knew me on a first name basis after all my calls to customer service. Always best to shoot 40 grain ammo at least 1130 fps. Or lighter grain ammo with very high fps. Thouroly clean and properly oil after every shooting session apprx. 3 to 500 rounds. Aguila 40 and 38gr. Super has been my best reasonably priced go-to ammo,and very accurate for me. So far I have over 12 different 22 caliber ammo types that woork great.

    I EDC the Walther PPQ SC in 9mm. This would be a good practice pistol as a companion. Good video!

      @@buffalosoutdoors Probably one of the best stock triggers out there. As you said, the ergos are real good too. You're really going to like it, and I hope you'll do a video on it.

      I agree 100%. I have both, 9mmsc and 22 m2 and they are a perfect match. 9mm sc has been flawless, the 22 had issues but finally all taken care of after sending it back a couple times. I've got over 3000 rounds on the 22 and probably over a 1000 on the 9mm. Do you have an update on your 9mm sc?
