This is a video I made for a friend and posted to Patreon last week. This is a very long video... one of the longest I've ever posted. I did not know if it was a good idea to make this video public on UA-cam or not due to it's length and lack of action but after receiving positive feedback from a few of my Patrons encouraging me to do so I decided to go ahead with it. So enjoy....or not...I get it either way, have a great weekend.
Well this ain't long for Nutnfancy😂👍🇺🇸
@@UncleDanBand64 TRUTH!
Its a great video and thanks for making it.
It solved a question I had about the magazine interchangeably between these two pistols. Can't be done is the verdict.
Thanks for this very complete comparison video.
Awesome sir 👍🇺🇸🙏
This and all your videos are the exact info I search for when researching a purchase or just honest opinions and operations of everything shooting related. Your videos are in my top 5 of the best videos related to firearms and shooting. Thank you, keep them coming.
@@edwardkawecki8101 thank you!
The problem I see with the mag safety is a person making a habit of trusting it and then getting into trouble when they handle a gun without it.
Agreed
One thing that I forgot to talk about was that both of these pistols come with threaded barrels. All you need is a thread adapter to add your favorite muzzle device. Neither pistol comes with the thread adapter.
Perfect video. It’s always good to have a reliable 22 around. Nothing wrong with 500 to 1000 rounds being next to you if and when needed regardless of your 9’s and 45’s. Thank you.
I like Buffalo's personality and his manner of speaking. I respect his opinion and value the content of this video. God bless and stay healthy.
Thank you.
Update to my Walther PPQ M2 22LR. After 1 1/2 months I asked customer service if they had a 4" slide and barrel they can put on so I could use my gun until the 5 inch slide came in. They did so only because I suggested it. Worked great. 2 months later I received the new 5 " slide in the mail and installed it with the 5 " new replacement barrel from the 1st fix and now the gun is working excellent with all the ammo I found that works best.Walther did not ask for the 4" barrel and slide back. This gun is a great companion to my PPQ SC. Buffalo's great first review of the PPQ M2 22 Was a major reaason I made this purchase and after more than 2 thousand plus rounds I highly recommend this gun along with Walther`s customer service even though it took so long but mainly do to the Covid situation World wide. Thank You Buffalo for all your excellent videos, reviews and opinions.
Very good video. I have had the M&P Full Size 22 for several years and it is probably my favorite gun in our collection to plink. I am a 22 fan just for the economy to shoot at the range. I also have a full size 9mm so it is a good companion. I did stumble across the PPQ on clearance at one of our local stores yesterday and wondered how it was rated. Your video was perfect for my need.....I am the one guy you described who has an interest in both guns. Thanks again for your informative video and will watch more in the coming days.
Thanks Buff for this comparison!
Other videos like this, I believe, would be a great service to us!
Sure we can look up and compare guns on the internet, but it's SO much better when you have a person such as yourself doing it!
Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍 👍
You have an incredible way of presenting. The detail you add beyond what others offer, is so necessary for people who aren't born with a pistol in their hand.
I have the same MP22 full size pistol. My beauty is uber reliable. Thanks for the comparison.
Be aware that the PPQ is choosy on ammo-
Walther recommends ONLY HV rounds like CCI Stinger and basically nothing heavier than 36gr. will operate in mine. Using CCI Mini Mags... The Smith will eat any Copper I put into it.
Agree. My Walther only runs with Eley. Nothing else will work. But a great gun.
You are THE most humble personality on UA-cam. If someone is critical toward you they have to be a complete a$$.
Great video. So glad you decided to post it. You are one of the clearest thinkers I watch. Your thoughts are always well organized, and combined with your practical common sense and gun knowledge, I never feel I wasted my time watching.
You took the words out of my mouth, well said Steve! This gentleman is so easy going and articulate, no drama queen presentation yet very detailed and insightful. So much so, I've become a Subscriber :)
I have this same walther 22. Have had it for 3 years, it is an outstanding pistol,,,, you wont regret buying one, thankyou for uploading this video ,,,, love your work buffalo, greetings from accross the pond australia
This has to be the best way to start the weekend
Thanks man have a good one!
Thanks for the comprehensive review. Nice to know the parts are not interchangeable
Great info and well presented. This made me lean towards the Walther, which was off my radar until your video. Now to find one. I picked a hell of a time to get into guns...
Thanks for taking the time to compare these. Especially appreciate you weighing the slides.
Thorough and unbiased. That's why I always enjoy your channel Buff!! Good Job!
Great video. I know it's hard not to pick sides and you didn't do that until the end. It makes it easy for someone to choose between the two.
Nice comparison....Either way you can't go wrong....Good stuff....
Excellent comparo video, as always from Buffalo. I too have the PPQ-22. Have run over 7,000 rounds thru it. Love shooting it.
Keep ALL videos coming,, thank you. With the situation with ammo right now its nice they are making a version in 22lr to save the cost of practicing.
Very well done comparison Buffalo. I agree with ya on dry fireing rim fire guns. LoL I even go as far as to count my rounds when shooting!
I really enjoy ALL your videos! You do a great job! Thanks for posting..👍
Excellent video and👍👍as always.
Excellent video comparison between these 22s!
The best I've seen by far.
👍😎👍
Good morning and hello from South Carolina
Hello SC! Comin at ya from Northeast KY!
Great video thanks love all the info
Great comparison review, thanks. I own both and I agree with your summation. Both are great pistols, and it comes down to personal preference.
Thanks big guy...love your vids...I currently have the Walther Arms Colt 1911 22 lr...replaced the sights with Dawson font/back....love the pistol....
That is a great pistol. I just featured one on a video a couple of weeks ago. It shot great. Thanks for watching!
Very good 👍 and clear comparison.
I had heard that the magazines would work in either guns.
Very glad I watched your video.
Thanks buffalo!
Thanks for the excellent comparison.
Good comparison - thanks!
I am so glad you did these 2 also. My wife has the MP compact and I have the TX22. But my edc is. Walther and like you I love the grip and the safeties. I might go with the 4 inch PPQ I just love the look also. I know both are great but I know in the future I want the PPQ in 9mm too. As always great job
Good information here.,...and I'm glad I bought the 'right' pistol! :)
( Buffalo has a fair idea of which one I own ! )
Hell of a review. Thank you
Well done . Thank you Sir . I am looking for a 22 . And these 2 is what I was down to. I'm going with Walther . I already am a Walther owner of a 9 ....... And I always like hearing price . Always. Thx again .
I’ve had my M&P 22 for like 8 years now and I had no idea it was made by Walther, didn’t even cross my mind even though it does 100% say Walther. 🤦♂️😆
Very great in depth comparison between the 2 22's Buffalo! No doubt that it should help aomeone deciding between the two of what may work for them👍👍👍
IT might! If they can stand to watch it! LOL
Morning Tatonka😂👍🇺🇸
Morning!
Thanks for sharing us I thought it was a great video I also agree with you on preferences -- the very best safety is to keep your booger hook off the trigger until absolutely ready to fire.
Thanks man. You are absolutely correct.
What a thorough and entertaining review. I would love either of these including the Taurus 22 you gave a stellar review on. I am so happy that Taurus has been getting their much deserved love by the gun world/UA-cam. They were never wholly deserving of the bad press they received over the years. Mostly from gun snobs, is my guess. Thanks Buffalo, as always. PS: Don't hesitate do do more personalized/ad hoc type things on your channel. I'd watch you repair the grout on your bathroom walls...your potential goes far beyond just guns. It's your personality that got you where you are. Any plans on changing out the string on your weed whacker, lol No seriously!
I think you covered it.
Great job Buffalo!!
You'd be a very very difficult person to dislike Buffalo. hahaha
A little late to this party... Good stuff Buffalo, thanks for this. The PPQ has been on my radar for a while. For what it's worth, check out a yellow #4 wall anchor for dry firing your .22lr guns, the plastic make it easier on the extractor when not loading from the magazine. Stay Safe...
Best gun channel on UA-cam you tell it like it is most gun channel's these days is so far up the industry's butt they can't have a opinion
I don't mind the longee video. I think you did great.
For anyone looking for a 22lr pistol like this, check out the Taurus TX22. It can be bought with no frame safety. It shoots without a mag as well. It comes with a threaded barrel all for $250ish. The trigger is excellent. Taurus customer service is currently slow but a lot of companies are struggling right now.
I really like my TX22 as well and the fact that it is available with or without the thumb safety should make a lot of people happy. I might do a comparison video like this one later on with my TX22 and my Glock 44. THanks for watching!
@@buffalosoutdoors That would be good. Honestly my Glock has been a bit more reliable than my Taurus both good. Yesterday was the first fails to fire out of the Glock. Ton of rounds with the can and she was filthy. To celebrate I decided to clean her and shot the extractor bearing and spring into parts unknown. That would be part number 12 and 13 on your parts diagram for folks following along at home😂
@@UncleDanBand64 😂🤣😃
@@buffalosoutdoors Never clean a gun outside 30 minutes before dark😂
Im glad I saw this, I'm shopping and deciding on a couple .22's, I shoot th PPQ Q5 In a 9mm, and wife shoots M&P in a .380, so with that said,, you get my point.
Thank you for the video..now I have a good idea.
Great gun when working properly. Mine's back to Walther for the second time in 6 months and they had it a month now and say it may be many more weeks or even months till they get a new slide in. First time it needed a new barrel. Covid, no parts. PPQM2 22LR 5 "
Great video man, I like your style!
The PPQ is a beast. I'm buying one this week. Can't wait to take it to the range.
Mine's been back to Walther twice now. PPQ M2 22LR 5 ". Paid Budsgunshop.com the extra 5 bucks for the latest serial number. First time when a month old went back to Walther for a new barrel 10/2020. Now again for a multitude of problems 3/2021 for a month service saying it needs a new slide and because of Covid no parts or replacement available and it may be many more weeks or even months. I'm thinking Walthers life time warranty may mean they take a life time to repair it. Hope not because it was a great shooting gun when working properly and a great trainer for my other EDC Walthers.
Hey Buffalo You;re my # 1
Very good and thorough review. Thank you for the time and effort this took. I’ve heard that one or the other of these has problems with some kinds of 22 Ammo. Failure to eject, failure to fire, etc. what is your experience and would that have any effect On Your choice?
Love your vids, sir!
Helped ~ to keep me wondering. 😄. Have a S&W 9 mm so leaning that direction. Thumb safety is OK ✅
Good review Buffalo .
Great vid Buffalo....especially since it's a longer vid... more really is better
I really like your videos, they are very interesting
Thanks mike honcho, I was looking for a comparison
Thanks you helped me make a decision
I have the M&P you will think the slide is broken as it slides back so,easy, can use your pinky. The wife loves that. Which led us to the M&P EZ .380 and the EZ 9mm
Top notch Buff! 👍😃✌️
Thanks!
Great comparison Buffalo!
Thank you!
Good stuff brother! Have a great weekend :-)
You too and thanks for stoppin in!
Really good video bud , Mark south Louisiana 🤙🇺🇸
Hello down there in south Louisiana from up here in Northeast KY!
The PPQ gives me a woody. I just can't find one!!
They are really great pistols. I shoot my PPQ more than any of my other .22s now.
Hey Buffalo, thanks for another informative and enjoyable video. When it comes to dry firing rimfire pistols, it is old news that the small plastic wall anchors (yellow) fit perfectly in 22LR chambers? If you haven't had a thousand people already telling you, they're cheap and the extractor even hooks over their rim and ejects them when you cycle the slide.
beeleo They work great. I have demonstrated them in past videos myself. When I don’t have any with me though I just chuck a spent case in the chamber to protect it. People fuss at me whenever I do that but it is better than nothing. Thanks!
The main reason i went with the M&P was just that it felt like a better fit for my hands. I am rather new to pistols, but I did not like the "knuckles" built into the walther. I imagine a lot of it is just subjective?
PPQ is awesome. Love it. Super accurate.
Both nice firearms
"He's a whacko!" Shoot, I knew that years ago. That's why I keep watchin'.
It's funny I like to have a minimum of 5 mags for each pistol as well. I used to shoot steel challenge where each stage has 5 strings, so at least 5 mags is a must
Well I definitely like the Walther better. I’m trying to find a good threaded .22 pistol, but I’m still trying to compare with the Mark IV.
Thanks again, you really cover all the bases. I would say for me I would like either or depending on if I had the same in the 9mm. And I am amazed at what people can complain about. You do it right!
A thorough look at both pistols.
Thanks!
So glad I got the full size M&P22 before they discontinued it and only offer the compact.
Yuck!
Merci très utile
Very good comparison......PPQ all day long
Hey speaking of front sights, what did you do on your G44? Mine shoots a bit high. I have thought about putting a slightly taller front and then I would have some play with the adjustable rear!
I went with a slightly taller front fiber optic from Dawson Precision. I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of .200" tall but I can't remember for sure. I talk about it in my part 2 G44 video. I know I mention the height I went with somewhere in there if you want to check it out - ua-cam.com/video/pxGtBez9x5Q/v-deo.html
@@buffalosoutdoors Thanks Tatonka I thought I remembered that. I will watch that and follow suit....once I get a new spring and bearing😂👍🇺🇸
Thanks for the video even though I have a TX22 and I'm happy with it, I did not know that the M&P was made in the same factory, does that apply to the rest of the models?
The TX22 is a great pistol. I may do a video like this one comparing my TX22 against my Glock 44 since they are both striker fired. No that does not apply to the rest of the M&P line, that only applies to the full size M&P 22.
Are the rear sights really identical on both? Ive heard of people using aftermarket s&w on the ppq 22 since no one makes them
I like that they’re full size
Me too. That's a big advantage IMO> THanks!
In your rifled slug video you adjusted your brightness at 5:25 to show the rifling in the choke I think it might need to be readjusted it, there are washouts in this video. I like the Walther myself, thanks for the video.
On your review of the ppq i went ahead and bought one up here in Canada for 600.00 plus tax the thread protector wont budge on the barrel end but no problem we cant run a can up here anyway. Ive looked all over you tube for a video of the hammer fired version complete take down and cant find one. Could you hook a fella up with a link or will you take yours down hammer and all?
Good comparison I would go with the Walther P22 also I am not a fan of the thumb safety and the magazine disconnect.
Thanks Keith. The P22 does actually have the thumb safety and Magazine disconnect. The gun I am showing in the video is a PPQ. Easy to get them confused!
I would like to see a comparison between the Walter PPQ22 and the Taurus TX 22
I would like to see you compare the smith &wesson m&p 22 and the taurus tx22
Do you have any jamming issues with the ppq? I have had trouble with mine failure to eject and failure to feed more than I would like using federal auto match. I'm looking to pick up some cci mini mags to try but the whole point to shooting 22 is it being affordable. Cci is not a cheap 22 ammo
Auto Match doesn't work in my Walther either. Not sure if it's under powered or because of LRN. What I have found is it has no problem with all the Copper Jackets I have tried. Federal Champion bulk, CCI, Winchester 333 / 525 bulk, Aguila super extra bulk.
Which gun would you suggest for a beginner?
Great comparison. You should roll in the Taurus TX-22 if you can get it. Any firearm with a magazine disconnect and a thumb safety is a negative, especially the magazine disconnect.
I have one. I might do a comparison video like this one between my TX22 and my Glock 44. I agree with you.
@@buffalosoutdoors Thanks. I will check it out.
I've never shot the Walther, but I love my M&P 22
unless the smith has a real price advantage, I'd go with the Walther. I do not like thumb safeties, nor mag locks. But I would put up with it for a solid price differential, like the smith being half the price of the walther. That isn't likely to happen unless the smith is used and the walther is new. I also don't like that it only ships with one mag, that's another expense, you've always got to have at least two mags if not more. It's a lot more fun if you have a lot of mags and somebody that doesn't mind reloading them.
I’m thinking the mag disconnect would be easy to remove on the S&W.
It is not difficult. The thumb safety is also not difficult to remove. I just wish it was an option from the factory. THanks!
Man id like to say i want to get the m&p but that walther doesnt have a saftey or a mag safety. I dont like those safteys . Im a big time m&p guy but i guess the 22 is diffrent. Got me learning towards to walther. Buffalo is right as far as my likes go anyway. Thanks and that was a super helpful video.
I love the M&Ps as well. I wish it was an option to have those safety devices or not to have them.
The Walther has fewer operations to learn to use and the longer barrel makes it more balanced. You don’t need to change out the sights and you get two magazines with it too. I don’t make a habit of dropping any magazine in the dirt; they cost too much to replace. If you shoot matches you might do it to save time; but you need more extras if one gets damaged. I wonder if you need a repair which one does it faster S&W or Walther. If I had similar S&W guns the M&P 22 would be the choice. However, if not; the Walther looks to be a better choice.
BUFFALO I LIKE .... BOTH !!!
Interesting..
Thanks!
I had no idea that the m&p was made in germany, is it the same for all smith and wesson m&p's?
Only the full size M&P 22 is made in Germany by Walther. The M&P 22 Compact is not nor are the other M&Ps, thanks for watching!
Is that model S&W still available?
