Missouri or Wisconsin is always less expensive than Iowa. Total Wine & Liquors in MO or Woodmans in WI are good places.
I enjoy checking out what grocery stores have. Pretty good selection of special bottles for how small their section is!

Cedar Ridge getting good reviews. I picked up the Barrel Proof for $35 on sale. Saw a Single Barrel that I am going to pick up. Love JM Cigar Blend. Have bottle killed batches 93 and 141. Currently have batch 181 open and backup batches 189 and 267. Just picked up the JM Murray Hill Club Special Reserve Batch 4. So good. 🥃

Out here in CA, all grocery stores carry liquor. Raley’s, depending on the location, has the best stuff

ayy Nob Hill/Raleys is my go to, always hit em up when they do closeouts at the end of the quarter. Snagged some Garrison Bro Black label for 39.99 and grabbed 3 bottles of Barrell Seagrass for 39.99 as well.
I'm in Iowa and generally find a better selection across the river in Illinois. Fareway is hit or miss but as you found out some HyVees can be pretty good. Benz is OK and people there are nice.

Man, I hoped you checked out a few more places. These are some decent spots in cedar rapids but most of those bottles at those 3 spots get held for raffles or bars. There are a few other honey holes you missed where you can see some harder to find bottles and decent prices.
Great video! I would have had a hard time passing on a few of those bottles! Some great finds! Never had Cedar Ridge…. Going to have to do something about that…. 😂

I’m in the Cedar Rapids area and Benz is the place to go to find great stuff. I also go to Westside once in a while. They also have some good stuff. The Fairway you went to is ok, but mostly when they do a raffle.
When you are in Iowa you really need to check out Marshall B.W.S. in Marshalltown, a small town but a great store.
I asked the Discord about it but that was not a recommendation! Maybe next year!
@@Bourbon_Hunter Marshall BWS is definetly a great spot and a great experience. 100% a place to check out. It is about 1.5 hours away from CR though. Still worth the stop though. There are also a few more awesome places around Cedar Rapids but you gotta know where to go.
I just scored today. I was able to get a Blanton’s Straight from the Barrel and an EH Taylor Barrel Proof for $275.

@@Bourbon_Hunterhow were you able to do a barrel pick? I thought you had to have a retail license in order to do barrel picks? Basically only stores and bars/restaurants. I know some youtubers get to do picks, but assumed they had retail licenses. Or have a distributor go with you that gave you their right to a pick
I thankfully have an online retailer that is willing to work with me on this process.

@Bourbon_Hunter o fair enough! For the same price as all those ubers you could have rented a car on turo and had it dropped off at the hotel by the airport. I've had to do that a few times locally

@@Bourbon_Hunter Another great store. They do a bourbon event in December with tons of bottles. One to keep on the radar and the bottles are at or below MSRP during this event.
I appreciate the bourbon by the lawyer with the yellow wax. He knows Markers owns the dripping wax trademark but wont bother to sue him if the dripping wax isn’t touching the bottle neck. Classic.

How much was that EC Toasted Barrel on Sale @ the grocery store ?
EC Toasted all around Cedar Rapids is generally about 60. When it is on sale it goes around 50. I have seen it at 45 though but that was a crazy sale.
Only thing stopping me from buying Balmorhea is that 200+ price tag. But for 119$, I couldn’t pass that up.

Don't know how good Rittenhouse is, but the fact they slagged on Kyle when he was attacked is good enough reason for me not to buy it. In fact, Heaven Hill being as woke as they are as a company tends to keep me from giving them any of my money. for any of their products.
In my opinion, Rittenhouse ryes are some of the best budget ryes out there. Especially if you can find a good store pick
