The Store Manager Tony was Super NICE! I really liked him! The prices on some of their products were well above secondary. For a shop that wants to be on the exit of I-95 I hope they can lower their prices including their store picks. Tony was very nice and knowladgeable I just can't help but feel these prices won't go down unless we stop buying the secondary prices on the shelf.

I won't pay anything but msrp for allocated stuff anymore, stopped two years ago. For every one of those bottles there is a normal bottle that's just as good or better for less money.
Good call!
you're missing out then on some of the best bourbon out there. don't limit yourself by budget
You got to be realistic I have no problem paying 10 to 20 over msrp since places raised cost but not msrp. I’m not gonna blame a store for a fair mark up but at the same time if it’s a crazy mark up easy pass.
@@afkafk129 I'm being pretty realistic. When you take into consideration most allocated stuff is only allocated as a gimmick anyways and most stores where I'm at are well above 10-20 dollar mark ups, when just a few years ago there was little to no markup. Sure 10-20 bucks isn't bad depending on the product , but we are talking 75-100 for eagle rare in my area, a bit steep for a 35.00 product. I'm seeing markups at 2-4 times msrp on most things except standard Buffalo Trace.
Being realistic is taking a stance against buying highly over priced bottles to bring the prices back into reality.
This might be one of the funniest responses i've hear. "You can afford that million dollar house? Don't let budget limit you, get that house." Bruh@@eddiedettling9322
my god that buffalo trace is ridiculous. I got my bottle for 25 bucks
Buffalo trace is a little easier to find now a days
$28 in Oregon all day long abundant everywhere.
IKR, its on the shelf in Australia everywhere but my last trip to Kentucky I couldn't find it anywhere 🥃
I pay 32
KY/TN area you're looking at 30-40
$370 for a weller 12 year is absolutely insane.
Highway Robbery
I've seen it online for 225 but still....outrageous
I get buffalo trace here in NorCal for 21.99 a liter. They can’t give it away. I paid 33 bucks for eagle rare yesterday. I can’t believe these prices.
Where can you buy BT in NC for 21.99. That’s below MSRP and not available at an ABC store here in NC. I just bought one for 32.99 for the 750 ml. It does seem to be getting more available here in NC.
Sorry didn’t see the No Cal.
The only downside to that is living in CA. Good cheap bourbon tho!
@@Bourbon_Hunter true😂
Was gonna comment the same thing. BT is my mixer, wife drinks it with coke and even to cook with since it’s $21. My regular drinker is ER or been grabbing eht small batch for $59 pretty regularly to drink.
Heck yeah i also grabbed one of those RR picks even tho i had 2 at the house. This store is a must stop everytime im traveling for work. Like i said never pass up on those Private Select Elijah Craig! Great pickups at an awesome store, awesome video man
Thank you for watching!
I went to Mickey Finns in Florence SC in early May '24 and walked out without buying a single bottle. Yes, they had the allocated bottles. I was shocked/surprised by how high their prices were. Their selection and availability were great, service was also good. Barrel picks were good and available. But the smaller liquor stores in Florence are so much better. It's really that simple...
That Buffalo trace 1L for $74.99 is absolutely insane. I got one last week at the duty free in Niagara Falls border crossing for $29.99.
My Costco has it for $25 regularly.
Good store! I was just there Feb 24th and picked out a few winners I can't get in Virginia. Really excited to check out their new location next to the Buccees right off 95.
Whenever overhyped, highly allocated stuff is just sitting on the shelf, there will be museum pricing. I'm in southern California, where most of the independent stores are a lot like this - ridiculous prices on tater bottles, but good deals on other things. I leave the tater bottles on the shelf. Sometimes, these stores get great barrel picks. Knob Creek store picks are very good, and they won't break the bank. I found a rye recently at one of the local stores. Russell's store picks are certainly worth buying, and they don't cost a fortune.
I snagged a Weller 12 on the shelf for $99 the other day. Figured that was fair based upon the $10 per year rule most people try and follow
Mr Sam is the ultimate unicorn. Only 1200 bottles produced once every 2 years. It’s essentially hand picked BTAC barrels blended with 18+ old Canadian whiskey
Do you think its worth the price tho?
NAS and with so little information included is a hard pass at that price for me, yowza
Not secondary, but it’s probably in my top 3 all time. Bourbon Junkies did a video on it last year
Why would anybody ruin a BTAC with Canadian whisky?
It works very well. All the barrels are cherry picked for the blend. My 23 GTS doesn’t hold a candle to mister sam
That Elijah Craig Pick at that price is crazy, I'd be shipping crates out the door! Love to see the store picks, thats where the best drinkers are at 🥃
Right?!
That store owner lost me at Weller being a high end bottle.
This is the problem with NC and SC. NC Allocated is behind the counter just above msrp if you can find something. SC stocks it on the shelves but charges double. What a racket. 1792 FP I lucked out in NC for $49.
Lucky!!!!!
Thanks for the heads up on the Elijah Craig private barrel 94 proof. On my way up from Florida. I was able to stop by the Mickey Finns in Florence and pick up a bottle. Keep up the good hunting content
Heck yeah! I appreciate you watching!
It's not worth the drive.
Love to see you visiting my home town and grabbing a couple of bottles. I grabbed that Elijah Craig pick last time I stopped at there other location.
That is awesome! Thank you for watching! 🥃
Around 2012-2014 Blanton’s was $42. I’d never pay more for it.
First time I had it was blind… was not impressed
Whist I have a feeling you already were planning on doing this, probably the whole reason you asked what he'd never tried but like to in the first place, but for those who might NOT already know; The next time you visit that store (Which should be the same day of the week and time of day for the best chance to run into the owner), bring some of said whiskey in for him to try. Don't have to give him the whole bottle, but drink some with him. Building Relationships With Store Owners 101.
I am in NYC and those are Crazy High Prices!
No wonder the shelves are full!
I know!! Thank You for watching
Those Prices are crazy!!! Just bought buffalo for 39.00 in Memphis..
Buffalo Trace 750ml is $21.99 in Nor Cal Total Wine right now, limit 1 per person. cheapest I've ever seen
Thats cheap as dirt!!!
Yeah because BT hyped up a bottle that didn't need to be and everyone went crazy.. now its cheaper than milk !
Headed from Philly to Tampa along I-95 to Tampa in May. Any recommendations for stops along the way. Specifically looking for a Barrell tale of 2 islands. Then any BT product somewhere closer to retail then I pay in my area of Fl. Specifically any EH Taylor. Or a Stagg or Blantons that isn’t $150. Thanks!
Yes! I have a few shops around I-95!!!! This is one and the other is pooler package and plenty others I have done video’s on along the I95
Interesting to have such a knowledgeable, intelligent owner.. yet he prices his allocation more than secondary... wild.
Wow, a Mister Sam in the wild is crazy. I heard the entire state of Virginia only got 6 bottles
Thats insane! Hopefully it was at retail
@@Bourbon_Hunter Given that it was Virginia it probably never made it to the shelf.
those ec store picks are fire from them. I bought 3 of 94 proof and full proof single barrel store pick. 3 years ago I think. still one of my top 5
Amazing store picks when it comes to those EC
The way you handle bottles… I know the day is coming when you drop one of those things haha
Can’t wait honestly might start adding flips
You snagged 2 of my absolute favorits bottles with that finished double rye (which are not being produced anymore) and the RR pick! Cheers!🥃
Not being produced anymore?? I should have grabbed another!
@@Bourbon_Hunter when constellation bought high west, the phased out that single barrel program and replaced it with the blue label cask strength and wine finished bottles that are everywhere now.
Great video….i need to visit that store
Thank you for watching!
I'm in the upstate of South Carolina and it's extremely hard to find some of these but I can drive about 12 miles into Georgia and get stuff like Eagle Rare all day long for less than $50.00!
Just got Blanton’s today for $74 after tax. Last one they had I was surprised it was still there at 7 pm. North Carolina can be tricky
You have a naturally disarming personality which leads to great conversations with the employees, other customers, and owners that is both entertaining to watch and hella beneficial in your chosen profession. Gonna be fun watching you grow, fam. 🐱💙🙏🏻👊🏻🌚
Thank you. Were going to the moon 🚀
I concur regarding the 94 proof Elijah Craig picks. They are great.
Heck yeah! Thank you for watching!
I got a EC Private Barrel the 94 proof from Total Wine month ago for $35 here in Colorado where I live its similar notes to Small Batch but a bit more nuttier smell and taste 👍🏻🥃
Heck yeah! They are great pick ups!
I'll be heading through SC next month, Micky Finns in Florence will be on the stop list now.
The store picks I grabbed are really good and affordable! Thank you for watching!
Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it
$170 for Woodford reserve yep that's a friend of mine who does that same thing and he buy 2 sometimes 3 bottles of it. That's his whiskey of chose mine is good ol delicious blanton's we give each other hell 😂😂😂. But for me blanton's is the king of bourbon i have never drunk a whiskey that good it was rich, smooth, and flavorful. I have become a loyal blanton's drinker i don't plan on buying anything else.
That Store has lots of picks , the owner seems nice, I like the Weller 107 and 12 and i did overpay for the 107 but only found 2 W12 at under $50
Nice!
Some of that is so much cheaper than AZ but I’m getting Buffalo Trace for $23 at every grocery store
Caribou Crossing is also produced by the Sazerac company for the Canadian market.
Will be watching this but from the title you sounds just like me last night. Amen brother end to secondary pricing and down with them all
Drizo nation!
Still haven’t seen a Russell’s SB pick in over a year of shopping around in north GA. Also would love to find a Old
forester black label SB also. Nice store and owner/manager. Cheers 🥃
Cheers thank you for watching!
I found a RR SB pick at Total Wine in Kennesaw. Gone in just a few days though. Those are always go good, they got gone quick.
regular bottle of Buffalo Trace here in Arizona is $21. ($18.99 on sale at the grocery store) Don't think I'll be visiting S.C. any time to buy.
Hey the Russell’s Rick house looks interesting 🤔 I haven’t seen it in Michigan great video bruh 2:44
Really?!?
Budgets are meant to be broken 🤣. Thanks for the video!
You bet! Thank you for watching!
I feel ya on the budget thing LOL. After amassing like 250+ bottle last year I decided I would cut back in 2024... Started out 2024 by deciding I would just add a couple bottles of Tequila, Cognac/Brandy, and Rum to the collection.. Welp now I have like 15 tequila, 5 cognac/brandy, and 10 rum... of ocurse I've also added a couple bottles of whiskey too - mostly single malts (scotch/irish/american)... Then I took a massive promotion in February and celebrated by going on a roadtrip bourbon hunt vacation that included multiple distillery tours...
Pretty sure I'm buying more bottles and not less... Gotta buy another set of shelves because right now I'm a floor whiskey person.
I feel your pain with floor bottles 😂 Congrats on the Promotion!
I’m putting your collection at a more realistic 42 bottles.
You picked some great bottles. All of which I would have picked myself so don’t feel guilty at all!!👍🏼
Yes! Thank you!
I love when we can find knowledgeable store owners who care about providing unique high quality options for their customers. Great feature here.
Thank you for watching🥃
Just my opinion, he’s not that knowledgeable if he’s talking about how much burn or kick stuff has, and doesn’t drink barrel proof.
Couldn’t give a single tasting note on their own barrels
I have seen two botties of Eagle Rare 10 for about $42 at a Safeway , but have not seen another one again. I live in Washington State. Where is it?
A lot of cool stuff for sure. But yes those prices made my blood boil to monk stroke level. But hey that Russel’s for sure solid still have some a holes around here wanting 120-150 for them. Good stuff none the less.
Heck yeah!
Freakin love your videos!!!
I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You think I’m kiddin about picking me up some though. I have Venmo. Lol. And I wanna see my friend from Nashville too.
Great Picks! Those Weller Prices are up there for sure, but they seem to have some pretty decent prices on the everyday bottles. I have yet to pickup any Russel’s, I’ve had a few in my hands, just always seem to trade it for something else. CHEERS @BourbonHunter
You got that right! Thank you for watching!
I thought prices were high here in east Tennessee, I think I'd quit drinking if I had to pay those prices. They charge those prices because people pay them. If everyone would quit hoarding it up, prices would drop, just like ammo.
Those are crazy prices. EC BP should be around 59.
I got a bottle of Old Forester 1924 at MSRP at my local Total Wine last week. I like the bottle, but even msrp seemed kinda high at $115.
From my experience I agree! Thank you for watching!
9:15 That Weller A107 goes home with me...jesus christ I have never seen one just sitting on a shelf. smh!
Tooooo much for OWA!
The reason the Weller is sitting on the shelf is because of what they're asking for it. Everyone sees the price and passes it by.
@@bethereagainproductions6534 It's a catch 22...if it was reasonably priced, it probably wouldn't still be sitting on the shelf
Agreed, just picked up eagle rare at $36ish and could have gotten blantons at its $65ish msrp, I'll never pay more, I'll rather just grab WT101 or OGD114
That Russel reserve is made by wild turkey. You can get almost that same bottle in the Wild turkey rare breed for about 10.00 less. A little different but not enough difference...to make the 10.00 more purchase. IMPO the rare breed is better than the reserve or even the 10 year.
😊 I've been buying up Henry Mckenna 10 Year 😊 and its amazing i saw it in the Vod today 🎉🎉🎉
It's so good! Thank you for watching!
Go Gamecocks! Would've had to unsubscribe if you were wearing orange
Whooooop!!! 🐔
Go Big Orange!!
Go Vols! 🍊
I’ve can usually find a good bottle there, but when they price the latest Bookers release at $229 I know I’m in the wrong store. That RR is a killer bottle.
I can buy it all day for a 100$
You remind me of my cousin Sammy, he and my aunt Bertha used take care of me in the summer evenings when I wasn’t in school. My cousin Sammy would eat these little sandwiches, he’d put a piece of absolutely luscious dark green Romain lettuce, with a slice of rich and creamy cheese in between 2 Rittz crackers. And every time cousin Sammy when bite down on that little sandwhich with his crooked front teeth, the noise it made use make me feel so happy. It was such a satisfying sound. The feeling that sound would give me is the same feeling I get when I see you smile after making a bourbon purchase with your big strong hands. I’m so proud of you Mr. Hunter. Don’t forget you eat your veggies and brush your teeth. Oh and my favorite color is dark yellow :)
That was a journey.
@@vervoryes indeed! Thanks for reading
I think your buddy is referring to the William heaven hill 17yr. 👍👍👍
If you couldn’t tell. All their picks have good burn. And good on the back end 😂
Bro 😂😂
I got you fam! I’ll go bourbon hunting with ya! Swing on by Aiken lol
Its on the list!
The prices at this store are really bad, museum prices.
I’d never heard of that Mister Sam bottle until now, they’ve got it marked up 10x which is hilarious
Ive never heard of it myself
@@Bourbon_Hunter Pretty crazy that you're so into bourbon but have never heard of Mister Sam
Excellent video. That guy basically contradicted everything you'd say lol
Thank you for watching
Some amazing variety there, but yeah the prices are getting was out of hand!
Ridiculous!
I'm always humored when these guys running museum pricing say "it's a great value" when they are charging 5x MSRP on a pick they were allowed by Buffalo Trace. That Weller Full Proof is a great bottle... at $50-60. I wish BT would take away allocations and picks from every store that gouged on pricing. If they did that, I would finally respect the brand. Barrel King did that to some local Missouri stores that were gouging on their products. They simply said, nah, we won't sell to you anymore.
Its tough out here 😂
I feel your pain on the budget man!! I went to an even at buffalo trace today. I got EH Taylor small batch, EH Taylor single barrel, and then on the way home i stopped at a little place becaue it was right off the main road and i figured why not. Well they had a jack daniels single barrel barrel prrof rye i have yet to get my hands on! I was expecting to go to the event and come home with one bottle because i couldnt make it until later in the day yet they still had their bottle of the day availible that was the EH taylor small batch and the single barrel was for the event!!! Oh well it was a great experience
You got lucky!!!! Nice! Keep up
The good work!
@Bourbon_Hunter yeah I know I did! I didn't get there till like 3pm and they still had EH Taylor small batch. Then because I booked the event I got the single barrel. I couldn't belive I found the JDSBBP rye either. Everyone around me says they are not getting any until summer and I have not found one until now so I thought I was out of luck until the next drop
That's just two bottles you don't have to worry about buying later lol
@johng5710 very very true!!!
it's wild that people see JDSBBP Rye as some rare bottle in the wild. It's on every shelf here in NC
BH THE GOAT. love u brotha
Preciate it!!🫡🥃
I can say I’ve seen the Welles go for way more then that still high though
That man talking smack on my mellow corn? 😤😤😤
I should so come down and do a bourbon hunt video with you. Let them bs me. 🤣🤣🤣
Picked up a 14 yr 1792 Full Proof for $54. Haven't gotten into it yet.
Open it tonight!
2024 is the year I do not drink a Sazerac product. It’s my New Year’s resolution, because I am so sick of waiting in lines and secondary prices for overhyped whiskey that ends up being a disappointment. Until I see it on the shelves, and I don’t have to go out of my way. I’m done paying for it.
Good deal! 🥃🙌🏼
Bought a bunch of these ultra high end whiskey BOTTLES, filled them with bottom shelf SWILL. My friends don't know the difference and I'm the MAN...👍🤫😉
Dang!
That’s wild you found a mister Sam in the wild
Never heard of it before but its apparently pretty old juice
@@Bourbon_Hunter for sure. It’s basically a step above BTAC. Honestly if was rich and saw that bottle at that price I’d probably buy it even though it’s secondary pricing lol
Anyone got an MSRP list of all these things or a reddit post that shows the range that is normal vs absurd prices?
When you’re young, time goes by fast. When you get older, just buy it. You can’t replace time with money
Very interesting perspective!
70 for ER and 270 for WFP SP. Ouch. I guess we're spoiled in Ma. The WFP SP seem to drop every few months for 70-80
🥃
I had the Whistle Pig 10 a few weeks ago and I didn't love it. It tastes like the smell of spoiled hay with a rather harsh finish. Curious if anyone else has anything to add on this?
I like it from time to time! Its certainly a vibe you have to be in to have it
I would agree with that. I think it's similar to an Islay scotch or even High West Campfire. It's not necessarily a flavor I dislike but I would have to have a hankering for it and wouldn't be a regular sipper. More so something to share with friends for something different!@@Bourbon_Hunter
I made a list of over 20 bottles which are available and affordable and that I really like. Let somebody else chase this stuff. I agree....I'm done.
That micky finns place or whatever is ridiculously expensive. $270 for a weller full proof pick. I get them for $55-65. One place had them for $180 and i laughed at them. I know secondary is stupid high on weller, but for a store pick to be that high is just nuts. $90 for ecbp and their single barrels. I get them for 70-80. 1792 full proof pick 70. Theyre 40-45. Even knob creek picks for 70, i get those for 45. They have a huge selection, but way over priced on everything. I get marking up allocated stuff, but they mark up everything/regular shelfer stuff too. F that place
Those prices are criminal
I feel like distributers (Buffalo Trace I'm looking at YOU) should stop giving greedy stores their products.. They have thousands of Blantons, Wellers, EH Taylor and Pappys stocking up in their back room and mark up their prices... They will build their beautiful museum.. I won't give my money to the greed
I wish!
I'm an American myself but always funny to see something like an American bourbon only drinker see something like Mr Sam out in public and go "lol Canadian whiskey".
Overpriced though just due to rarity.
I have a Mister Sam batch 1, basically it is a blend of George T Stagg and hyper aged cask strength Caribou Crossing. Seriously good but at MSRP and you were likely looking at batch 2 which is not as good as batch 1 imo.
Remember, 95% of Canadian whisky you see is bottom shelf mixers or colored boxes of Crown Royal. Try some Found North or some Cat's Eye Hazmats or some Storytime Old Dragon Bones Rye.
Found North is amazing!
Why they would blend George T Stagg with anything is beyond me
@@johng5710 because this worked big time, at least batch 1. I have a couple GTS bottles, and only the 2012 stands up to mister Sam. The price here though is a joke.
Agreed, batch 3 is phenomenal. Drew Mayville is cherry picking the barrels for the blend. Supposedly there is some cask strength ER17 in the blend too
That WFP at 270 is still 400 cheaper that Southern Spirits
Agree, not going to pay "eat- a-di*% prices for allocated bourbons. There are plenty of great bourbons to be had at or below MSRP.
My upper bourbon budget is $35 a bottle. And it tastes even better knowing people pay $100 for something they could not tell the difference in a blind taste test unless they have had the $100 bottle before. Rare bourbon "lovers" that are 21-30 years old lol. 😂
$70 for 1792 full proof!?! Thats ridiculous. I see them everywhere for $40-45. I havent seen blantons for 60 or eagle rare for 32 in a long time. Blantons every where around here is now $70. Eagle rare 40. Total wine went up to 80 for blantons and 50 for eagle rare. I won ORVW 10yr in total wines raffle, $160. Their prices are just getting ridiculous. Used to be cheap but now everything is more expensive than everywhere else. Thats what they do though, just like walmart, come to town w low prices then increase them after they knock out competition, or increase it slowly so ppl dont realize it and think they are still the cheapest because they stopped going other places.
High west double rye, my pick
Its super good! 😎
The bourbon bubble is popping.
I've never paid more than Msrp. To many good options out there.
$55 for Buffalo Trace?!? Insane! You can have it shipped to your house by one of those on-line gougers for less than that. No way! Can't wait for the more money than brains crowd to move on to the next big thing......
Tequila?
Great video. Making friends along the way. 😁👌🏻
Yes! Thank you!
I'm disappointed Micky Finns is raising prices that much. Last week I was in GA and picked up 5 bottles of Eagle Rare at an average of 46 a bottle. 4 of my friends have been looking and 4 are very pleased with me. lol
You’re a good friend!
@@Bourbon_Hunter Videos like this made it fun. I can't buy everything myself and would never want to hoard it all so I pick it up for friends out of state that can't find it. I love SC but GA has better ABC selections.
Those blue label Old Foresters (single barrel barrel proofs) are the sh*t...I would have picked one of those up if the price was reasonable.
If they were still around! 👏🏼 I would have!
@@Bourbon_Hunter Oh that one on the shelf wasn't for sale?
