I think I would choose the CBR as a street daily bike. Smoother engine, more power eventually. And more comfortable position. R7 is more like a weekend toy or track bike. I really like the new white, yellow red paint for the r7 this year. Honda needs more colors.

Honda puts its money in the things that matter. You can wrap/paint it or buy aftermarket fairings if color is important to you

I think I'll go for R7. In the long run, the R7 may cost less with Maintenance. For a legit road bike, the torque is responsive, it is light and slim and very agile. It may cost more without the techs that the cbr have but the bike is less complicated. I'd still go for the R7.

    Love these comparison videos.
Coming from a 400sm and years of motocross, growing up riding dirt I'm at a serious toss up between the cbr650r, r7, mt07.
Cbr is a comfortable bike, needs to be reved out for peak power, better on the highway I'd assume. But that 4 cylinder sound is nice!!
Than the r7 which is a more dedicated "race" riding position, but the adjustability of the suspension, nice brakes and that cp engine with more usable power on the street is very nice.
Still can't wrap my head around that deep exhaust note coming from a sport bike 🤣
Last but not least is the mt07. Very comfortable riding position, fun bike, same awesome cp engine, lacks the braking power of the r7 and also lacks the suspension of the r7.
In the end it depends on riding style for me....which as of now I am leaning toward the r7 👍

These bikes are so weird. The R7 sells itself as a supersport and the CBR650R is basically a sport tourer. They are both so close to the pricing of a ZX-6R that it just doesn't even seem worth it if you're either looking for an inline 4 bike or a supersport. Just spend a few hundred more and bam you got almost twice the horsepower of an R7 as well. I feel like these two bikes would do better at a slightly lower price point. The only thing really going for both is the fact they axed off the R6 and the CBR600RR and I feel like that's the only selling point these have going for them now.

I am pretty pissed and disappointed in Yamaha this year as I am expecting R7 to be price competitive because of no tech features at all and it being less powerful on that cc category, if you buy that shit you're a simp. Big no for supporting Yamaha overpricing.

Damn, surprised at how many people I see saying “inline 2 vs 4 can’t compare, should be using the r6 instead to the 650r)
Like why? I he 650r is a middleweight versatile sport bike in the same price and displacement category as the r7(actually r7 slightly larger) and while they market to slightly different customers there is a large amount of cross appeal to the people looking to buy one of these.
If you think it’s unfair that Honda’s got an i4 that’s honesty just points towards it in the category. R6 is a super sport race bred machine. Also costs more, there is very little cross appeal to the person considering a 650r for road daily etc use
There such drastically different bikes that blows my mind people can’t grasp it. You’d compare the cbr600rr to the r6 . They literally compete in exact same segment. Both unavailable to buy now as well. It’s not rocket science

But I just couldn’t bring myself to spend like 2.5k cad more and then to be worried about plaguing reliability and serviceability issues that those bikes are notoriously known for.
Which could have an rs660 with a nice v4 or i4 , with Honda’s reliability and serviceability, at the r7s price point 🤣
      I’ll keep dreaming I guess .
On a side note in Canada here r7 is $100 less then the cbr so that’s a fairly large mark against it for us

Why not? They definitely focus on different aspects but pricing/ middleweight displacement category are the same .
And they do have a fair bit of cross appeal ,
That being said feels like the r7 has wrong ergos for the street and wrong engine/ powerband for the track.

Yamaha disappointed with pricing. If you have 22hp less than honda and no traction control and ride by wire then how can you keep the price at 9000 USD ??? Its better that people opt for a used 4 cylinder R6 which was king of middleweights
