I think I would choose the CBR as a street daily bike. Smoother engine, more power eventually. And more comfortable position. R7 is more like a weekend toy or track bike. I really like the new white, yellow red paint for the r7 this year. Honda needs more colors.
I think I'll go for R7. In the long run, the R7 may cost less with Maintenance. For a legit road bike, the torque is responsive, it is light and slim and very agile. It may cost more without the techs that the cbr have but the bike is less complicated. I'd still go for the R7.

I love my cbr650r. I tested the Yamaha at the dealership, but i didn’t like the low revving 2-cylinder character on a sports bike. It’s great on a naked or adventure. My cbr650r screams like hell with the Akrapovic 🥰🥰
Already have the 2021 CBR650R with quickshifter. At that the time I purchased mine, the R7 wasn’t released yet. However I would still choose the CBR650R. Also in my country it is cheaper. But the Rs660 from Aprilia seems a great bike also.

What do you think? Which one would you choose? Personally, ill go with CBR. I think it's a more versatile bike. Comfortable riding position for street use, bigger tank, and lot of extra top end power for occasional track day or highway. But for a more serious rider that go to track often, i do think r7 fully adjustable suspension and aggrresive position + compact size will make it a more fun bike to ride!
The real shame is the not adjustable suspension. With my cbr 600 rr i had to adjust the front for road use (never track with it). I have adjusted the preload and i had a big improvement in not flat roads. I hope this showa are perfect in stock otherwise you can't even try by yourself different setup

Love these comparison videos. Coming from a 400sm and years of motocross, growing up riding dirt I'm at a serious toss up between the cbr650r, r7, mt07. Cbr is a comfortable bike, needs to be reved out for peak power, better on the highway I'd assume. But that 4 cylinder sound is nice!! Than the r7 which is a more dedicated "race" riding position, but the adjustability of the suspension, nice brakes and that cp engine with more usable power on the street is very nice. Still can't wrap my head around that deep exhaust note coming from a sport bike 🤣 Last but not least is the mt07. Very comfortable riding position, fun bike, same awesome cp engine, lacks the braking power of the r7 and also lacks the suspension of the r7. In the end it depends on riding style for me....which as of now I am leaning toward the r7 👍
Its ok for US prices, same as you guy, we here in malaysia worth everage about 2500 a month. And the price of cbr 650r bike is 43k..u know, we still going to afford the bike. Compare to your monthly salary and the bike is way more cheaper
These bikes are so weird. The R7 sells itself as a supersport and the CBR650R is basically a sport tourer. They are both so close to the pricing of a ZX-6R that it just doesn't even seem worth it if you're either looking for an inline 4 bike or a supersport. Just spend a few hundred more and bam you got almost twice the horsepower of an R7 as well. I feel like these two bikes would do better at a slightly lower price point. The only thing really going for both is the fact they axed off the R6 and the CBR600RR and I feel like that's the only selling point these have going for them now.
The best fully faired 650 class bike is without a doubt, the rs 660. 270' twin pushing 100hp , 50lbs of torque. Wet weight 403lbs. And all the rids and tech of a highend literbike.
In my country, R7 is more expensive than CBR650R. Can you believe that? Not just tad bit but a $400 price gap! I mean who would pay premium for a less powerful 2 cylinder bike then get outran by a less expensive inline 4 Honda bike. I am pretty pissed and disappointed in Yamaha this year as I am expecting R7 to be price competitive because of no tech features at all and it being less powerful on that cc category, if you buy that shit you're a simp. I own a cbr650r and I agree, I’d love the aprilia over the Honda (although I stil wish the rs660 had an i4 despite it pushing out plenty of power already) But I just couldn’t bring myself to spend like 2.5k cad more and then to be worried about plaguing reliability and serviceability issues that those bikes are notoriously known for. Which could have an rs660 with a nice v4 or i4 , with Honda’s reliability and serviceability, at the r7s price point 🤣 I’ll keep dreaming I guess . On a side note in Canada here r7 is $100 less then the cbr so that’s a fairly large mark against it for us
Why not? They definitely focus on different aspects but pricing/ middleweight displacement category are the same . And they do have a fair bit of cross appeal , That being said feels like the r7 has wrong ergos for the street and wrong engine/ powerband for the track.

The 650r, it’s closer to a super sport in my opinion. I think the 650r is the more viable track option too. Because of the inline 4.
I got 2021 cbr650r and it comes with quick shifter here in Sydney , and my mate baught r7 but he like to ride my bike just coz of the sound lol

its not unidirectional , the offical one only goes up ;)

Australian only get 35kw version of CBR650R, so R7 is better for us.
Must be limited version for begginer (A2 licence), im sure you can unlock it somehow 😄
@@SecondGearYT Yes, similar like A2 version in EU. I searched de-restriction but only few results and most people say it will affect resale value. Yamaha offers both versions btw.
Character of the engines are drastically different, makes the comparison essentially void. Apples and oranges.
