    My first bike was 249cc from Yamaha R25 which is equivalent to R3. I was involved in accident in 2017 with that bike and I claimed total loss from insurance.
    So, in May 2022, I placed down payment for CBR500R. At first I was comparing both 500 & 650 and I was thinking 650 was too big for me. Along the way while waiting for the 500 stock to come in, someone in my WhatsApp group was telling to my other friend that if he want to upgrade, he will be looking for 4 cylinder bike. So, I was looking at the video and even try to sit on one used 650R, that got me thinking, I can get this bike by adding a few more thousand to upgrade now than later on I need to fork out more later if I want to upgrade. So I change my mind and order 650R.
    I got my 650R last 2 weeks and man do I love it. The sound and handling plus the power! So this video of yours somehow support my idea of upgrade my purchase even though it came in later after my decision.
    Thanks for the video.

    Bought a 650r this year new as my first bike. Had little experience with shifting on race quad a decade ago but apart from that brand new rider. 8k miles this year put on and it’s great.
    Displacement difference isn’t much between the two bikes but the 650 has double the power still lol and that’s a huge point.
    If your mature , relatively quick learner and seem to naturally have skill towards these type of things it’s perfectly fine as a starter bike. Wasn’t long at all before I was wide open constantly. Wish I had a litre bike or something along the lines of a gixxer 750 but it’s still plenty of power for road use and is fun because you can actually use it. Either way love the bike all around. Commuted to work every day and then as able to have fun on weekends. Quite versatile for my needs

    Good video on the comparisons. I recently passed my A licence (I did the DAS course in Maidstone) and the 650r will be my first ever bike. I have had reservations, but everyone is telling me it's fine for a first ever bike and I should be fine considering I did my test on the 650f. I'm not after anything too powerful (and I think anything more than this would be a big mistake), but rather something that I can use as a daily, but falls within the "sports bike" style. I placed my order in July 22 and I'm still waiting for delivery sadly. I hope to get it soon as I can't wait to get out riding.

    Nice video but I think you understated the difference between these two bikes in terms of power and acceleration. The CBR650R is a very fast bike and the acceleration is excellent when it's opened up properly. To put it in perspective the CBR650R gets from 0-60mph in about 3.5s compared to the CBR500R of about 5.5s. The pull and scream of the engine from about 7k onwards is totally unique to a 4 cylinder bike. Riding one is a completely different experience than a twin cylinder 500. It's like comparing apples and pears. If you love the thrill of acceleration you'll be bored of a 500 twin in no time at all.

    • @tvtwistasmoto
      @tvtwistasmoto  2 місяці тому +2

      Yeah the difference between them is bigger than I made it sound in the video. I was trying to find a balanced way of saying that it is much faster but not that much faster to warrant going from a 500r to a 650r. Either skip the 500r all together and go straight to the 650r or get the 500r then skip the 650r to something bigger. the 500r to 650r jump is not as rewarding as I personally hoped. BUT!!! that being said my 500r topped out at 112mph...my 650r could do that in 3rd gear 🤣🤣. So by no means am I calling the 650r slow.

    How about me ? I have a 600 F4i and im selling it in a few weeks but im at the point as my budget is either a 500R 2020 or a 2003-2004 600rr. I love the sound and im fearing the difference in power as i am used with my f4i but at the same time i want something newer and with abs . I fear the fact that i will buy a 500 and not liking the power even if i need a more comfortable and manevrable bike

    • @tvtwistasmoto
      @tvtwistasmoto  3 місяці тому

      That is a hard one. You want good power and newer features like ABS. If your choice is strictly between those two bikes then i would say go for the power. Get the 600rr. You will miss the fun and power more than you will miss rider aids 🤣.

    Which one is recommended for long tours in terms of vibration and comfort?

    • @tvtwistasmoto
      @tvtwistasmoto  Рік тому

      Good question! Overall the 500r is more comfortable IF......AND ONLY IF....you change that horrible seat. The 650r has a better seat, other than that the 500r takes it in terms of comfort. At 6-7k rpms the 650r vibrates more than you would like, which sucks because that is a sweet spot to cruise in. It pains me to put the 500r above the 650r in this scenario though because the engine in the 650r is really great and would lend it self to a much better ride. If only it were more comfy lol.

      Do you mean cbr250r (29hp) or cbr250rr (40hp)? Because either way I would say you could skip the 500r completely and go straight to the 650r or any 600cc. If it is the cbr250rr (40hp) don't even bother with the 500r, it won't be much of a difference. I would suggest something bigger. Unless you are dead set on getting the 500r then I wouldn't stop you, it is a very good bike, and you would have that little extra power and that big bike look and feel. But if it is within your means I would say get something bigger than the 500r.

    I have a '22 CBR650R (113 miles ODO) and a '23 Grom I kitted to go 90mph (439 miles ODO).
    These are my first motorcycles.
    Although the CBR650R is indeed very sexy and makes a wonderful scream on the throttle, it is Not a beginners bike. It is a "beginner" bike if you're entering into this cc range with a sports bike though considering it handles very mannered when you want it to but can scream on demand too. However, at 420LBish, almost half the weight of a small car (Le Car De Luxe?), it is very heavy and mistakes will be amplified as a beginner with the heavy weight of this. My Grom is definitely more fun to ride as I can do more with it, but my CBR650R is the clear winner for spirited straight shots. As well, do not be fooled either, you won't be beating other bikes in this weight class without mods... In retrospect I think I should have started slightly smaller in weight.
    I highly recommend people start on a Grom or a Rebel and move up from there if you want more speed, or just upgrade the Grom. It's a blast to mob around on 🙂
    Stay safe kids!

With most small sedans being around 3k+ .. though I seen the car de Lux comment so not really sure what kind of guidelines your using lol

    There's a 180 cc difference. And the 650 is way faster. And almost 55 more hp with after market mods. Way more power bob

    • @tvtwistasmoto
      @tvtwistasmoto  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, you are right the 650r is significantly faster, especially when comparing the stats. The point I was trying to make in the video is that when actually riding a cbr650r it does not feel A LOT faster than a 500r.
      So if someone has a 500r and wants a much faster bike or is craving more speed, I would not suggest they only go up to a 650r, I think they would enjoy the extra power from a faster bike than the 650r.
      But besides all of that, yes, the 650r is for sure a faster bike than the 500 no question. Which is why i'm happy on the 650r, it was a big enough jump in speed and power to satisfy me 🙂.

    Below 5000RPM it goes like a 250 between 5000 and 7000 it goes like a 500 between 7 and 8000 it goes like a 650 from 9000

    More cruising power with ease.
    For just starting motorcycles, start with a , 125....250 or a 300cc.
    I started with a dual purpose 250 cc a long time ago.
    250 cc and 300 cc dual purpose bikes are light and easy to move around and teach skills without having to fight the weight.
    Make sure you are comfortable on the bike whatever you choose.
