    Second day of Carnivore after being stalled on Keto: (1) Breakfast: Coffee with 1 oz of heavy whipping cream. (2) Lunch: 16 oz Ribeye topped with kerigold irish butter and seasoning (3) Dinner: 16 oz grass fed hamburger in two 8 oz patties with swiss and cheddar & 5 farm raised eggs. That is easily 2800 calories and I lost 2 pounds in one day. BEST DIET EVER!!

    I've been on the carnivore diet for the past 8 months or so. I've lost about 40 lb! I love the diet for many reasons but mostly the simplicity and the positive effects from it. I did Relapse for about 3 weeks during that time but otherwise was fine. It really doesn't cost as much as people think. From what I was eating before the diet, it's actually cheaper on average.

      40lb! That's incredible! And 3 weeks out of 8 months is nothing, you should be super proud of yourself! It does end up being fairly reasonably priced since you don't have to buy a bunch of different ingredients and gimmicky "health" foods. Just meat. Plain and simple 😂

    I use to be 333lbs the end of Jan. And now I'm at 298lbs, ive been stuck on this weight for about 3 weeks now, been having a hard time sticking with my diet change so I'm going to try the carnivore diet and stick with it for a few months. My next goal weight is to be under 270lb and I'm going to do it. 😎
    *UPDATE* I am now officially at 279lbs, although I must admit I made changes to the Carnivore diet and have started a ketogenic diet. I did fall off my healthy eating habits a few times especially around the holidays but after 2 or 3 days I jumped back on and now I am extremely happy with my progress. Here's to some more weight loss. Good luck, everyone and don't give up.

    Highly recommend doing at least a Loose zone/Mediterranean diet for at least couple weeks b4 keto/ Carnivore if ur on a higher carb diet. It won’t cause any issues, and gets ur body used to less carbs and more fats, and then u can gradually lower the carbs and raise the fats over a few weeks until ur in ketosis. It’s a really easy diet to maintain, and the only crucial aspect to try and get around 30% of calories from protein, at least 30% from fat and try to keep carbs 40% or less. I did this for 4 years b4 doing keto, and loved how easy it was after u get used to balancing macros. Hope this helps!

      Hayden Thomas are you eating enough fat? Try upping that and see how you feel! You also may not be eating enough in general. Protein takes more energy to be digested so by the time it has been, you have burned through around 30% of the calories!

    • @tracylynnaz9066

      Hayden Thomas I felt that way until I started to literally eat spoonfuls of butter with my meals. But also getting a variety of fats. I used rendered tallow and lard and honestly it’s a game changer. Butter alone isn’t enough. You might need the vitamins and what not that the different fats have to offer. For instance, if I cook my breakfast in pork fat, I am much more satiated than if I use Twice the amount of ghee. I add 2 tbsp of tallow to whatever meat I am eating. Also....try shredding your meat and eating it in broth with a few tbsp of fats. I have been doing this for my evening meal and not only does it top me off, but it helps me sleep like a baby.

      @red57dryad 5 років тому +7

      If you "gag" at the sight of food, it doesn't mean your body isn't eating. .it's eating the "stored" energy in fat cells. .. listen to your body! !! It sounds like you are doing just fine! Btw, on any type of nutrition plan that cuts out the toxic crap we've been feed for most of our lives, There will be "adjustments", these "adjustments " literally take years to complete. ..we have so much toxins built up it takes a very long time to rid ourselves of them. Do not worry though as you will feel better than you have since being a teenager! Seriously! Keep at it! !

    Oh no i am so sad you didnt have a good time with the liver!
    Its a big part of my cultural food! We slice it up super tiny way smaller than how you cut it, then don’t put water on it you can rinse with vinegar!
    Then when you are ready marinate it with 2 tbsp vinegar, lots and lots of cumin, you can add cayenne pepper and salt to taste and regular pepper! Then cook it in ghee (butter is ok too) at the end of the cooking process just add a squeeze of lemon (dont put it while cooking coz it’ll make the liver bitter, only add at the end). It’s honestly a big delicacy in my home town and i beg my mom to make it for me when i go home! I promise if you try it this way it’ll change your perspective

      I haven't been taking any so far. I don't feel like I am missing anything but of course I could be wrong. Last time I had my blood tested my iron was the only thing that wasa little low (pre carnivore). I didn't want to take supps for that when I was upping my dietary intake.
      I was worried electrolytes such as potassium and magnesium might have been an issue but I haven't had an muscle cramps, which I would get occasionally before.
      This is only my experience though. I won't know if I am missing anything until I get tested again which I have been meaning to do.

    I'm finding this info on carnivore diet so interesting! I don't have any severe digestion issues although I'm so sensitive to bloat and I've been doing GF diet (very basic, meat and 2 veg) and feeling better for it. What got me thinking about this diet is that the Japanese diet is known to be one of the healthiest in the world, and (in its most non-westernised, natural form) its fish, meat and veg, with SMALL portions of boiled rice, and eggs and broths etc. Its actually so similar to a keto kind of diet! Very interesting!

    I recently had a microbiome test done and so many “good” keto veggies were on my list to AVOID! I had been fretting because I was mostly eating meat and eggs. It’s a joyful moment when you listen to your body. Plus, I was using it as an excuse to sneak in some carbs...because I felt like I wasn’t eating enough food. 😂 When you mentioned the 💯 % commitment i was actually thinking of having sweetened condensed milk in tea. Phew! You stopped me! I had a tough time getting off sugar and it is the hardest to stay away from. I wondered if I was craving it because I lost 40#, with fasting/keto, and my body WANTS me to go back to setpoint. Has anyone here found that this diet wipes out The setpoint issue? I’m 7# below it now and cravings are as demanding as a toddler. I still have 20# (at least that is what is on my mind) but I got on this way of life (fasting/keto) 6 months ago for health issues I was having (seizures/autoimmune/MS-still in diagnostic nightmare). I took the bull by the horns and it has really helped...now I will move from keto to carnivore and see if that gives me relief. Thanks for your informative channel. 💝🦹🏻‍♀️

    Curious on your thoughts about organ meats. I have been eating liver every day but now I’m hearing about too much vitamin A. I am eating about 3 ounces a day along with beef, eggs, liver, a small amount of chicken (so I can make broth from the bones) tallow, ghee. Working on getting off coffee. I am experiencing a dermatitis flare up and it’s so frustrating ..... hence the liver consumption. Thanks in advance.

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  5 років тому

      I think the concern with too much vitamin A is based on supplementing it and not from whole foods. Another thing to note is that that RDAs are based on the minimum amount to not be deficient, and not what we need to thrive. Also it's interesting to compare RDAs from other countries. For example the recommendation in Germany is 900 vs 600mcg in the states.
      That's just my take on it though. The fact that vision problems and osteoporosis are so common nowadays leads me to believe most of us aren't getting enough vitamin A. I have also been trying to have liver more often, at least every other day!

Thank you so much Kait! two questions if I may: how much meat should I aim for (93kg, 1.78mt, 49yo, male, light activity)? And would you suggest any supplements with carnivore diet? I saw your video on that, but what about a good multi vit-min, do you think it may be needed?

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  5 років тому +1

      Oh thank you for your kind comment John! Glad you found the video helpful! 😊
      I really can't give you an estimate for how much you should eat. It becomes pretty apparent, while eating carnivore, when you are full. It is hard to overeat!
      Supplements not needed, although I would recommend eating liver at least once a week (or liver capsules daily) and drink bone broth for electrolytes.
      Hope that helps! All the best John!

    • @JohnJJay

      Health Coach Kait, Lovely! So is there not a minimum/right amount of proteins to take? I guess this is what I meant asking, I am trying to figure out the quantity of meat per day I'll need, don't want to go too low or too high. Should I stick to keto calc macros (minus carbs)? I guess I'd be happy if I could eat a bit more if I felt like it... (for example, I know that even in keto [1year+, 38kg lost!] I would easily go with 400grams twice a day of meat/cheese/eggs if I allowed myself, even with no hunger, just because I like it).
      Also, thanks for the tip on supplements. As it happens I just bought a 2 months supply of a great multi-vit, magnesium and DHA. Would it be bad to use them anyway?

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  5 років тому +1

      No right or wrong amount, you can't eat too much. Eat until you are full and stop then!
      As for macros, your protein can be a bit higher than traditional keto. I think mine are usually 60 fat, 40 protein, although I don't track. Just eat fatty cuts and cook with lots of fat.
      With the multivitamin, it certainly won't harm you, but I am doubtful how much you the vitamins your body actually absorbs. No harm taking it since you have it!

    • @JohnJJay
      @JohnJJay 5 років тому

      Health Coach Kait, thank you so much! I am seriously considering carnivore diet but I realized that in Italy where I live, grass-fed meat is scarcely available (and thus rather expensive). I just realized that I've being eating low-nutrients food all along. So I guess the only choice I have is either add supplements or keep eating less-nutritious prot/fats (option 3 would be spending a fortune on bulk online purchases, ruled out): *do you think it would be unhealty to actually go carnivore on grain-fed meat (and thus eggs and dairy)?* Knowing that, compensating with supplements such as a good whole-food multi vit-min could then be a necessity, wouldn't it? Which other supplements would you then suggest as most useful in this case?

    I gotta go back to carnivore, I did it for 4 months (because I had a digestion issue that required zero carbs to fix). I lost so much weight but muscle was fine and I just felt like my immune system/inflammation was so much lower and I wasn't constantly bloated. After I fixed the digestion issue I went right back to carbs and it's so freaking hard to get off them again, not because I don't have self control but because you have to plan your meals more, it's hard to just grab a snack with meat and I don't like to cook for 25 minutes when I get home from work, I just want to heat something up and eat. But that said, on days I don't want to cook I can just get grilled chicken and beef patties from Mcdonalds (yes they let you just order meat! it's awesome).

It’s not likely McDonalds is picking the best quality out of all that either, and probably cooking it w canola oil. Should be fine for weight loss goals, but many are trying to heal their bodies by returning to a primal way of eating. Not sure McDonalds is going to cut it, but who knows maybe it will. That would be a brutal blow to the struggling vegan community-Carnivores healing themselves w the help of the McDonald’s drive-thru! 😂

    @Enidangel22 5 років тому

    Kait - I hope you see this because I need to know. So far, I can't find a video that tells me exactly how much meat to eat a day and how often. I was a dedicated Keto dieter and had lost 50 pounds last year and then I started feeling bad. I was having all these weird symptoms from day to day and, some days, no symptoms. I do know that I had no energy at all. I go to the doctor every three months and have lab work done, so I thought I was doing okay health-wise and almost started thinking it was the Keto diet. By December 2018, I just did not feel good at all and, in fact, didn't even go Christmas shopping except for what I bought my grandkids online. January 20th, 2019, I woke up early with this horrible pain in the right lower quadrant of my stomach. My daughter took me to the ER, a CT Scan was done where I was found to have colon cancer and off to surgery the next day. I was in the hospital for 7 days. The first 5 days, I was offered no food at all. I don't know if the pain drugs kept me from being hungry or the Keto diet. But, for 5 days, I ate nothing and didn't care. Thank God for Keto. When I got home from the hospital, all my taste buds had changed. I only wanted donuts and pizza. Plus, it was easy to keep by my bed cause it was painful to get up. I couldn't stand long enough to stand in the kitchen and cook, so I was having a good time with the donuts and pizza. At this time, the softball-sized tumor they removed was being tested and then sent to California for further testing, so it wasn't until March 18th until I found out if I was going to live or die. Tests came back good and all the cancer was removed during surgery and I would not need any chemotherapy. Once I felt better, I came and got on my computer and pulled up all my lab work from my doctor. OMG, there were so many things that were wrong and my doctor just didn't pay any attention to it. I will never have another test done that I don't review in full and I urge everyone to do this. I really feel if I had not been on the Keto diet, that tumor would have broken through my colon wall and got into my lymph nodes and I would have probably died. Sugar feeds cancer and I wasn't hardly eating any sugar for 2 years. I was also so anemic and my doctor let me be like that for close to a year. What I'm wondering is if you have any suggestions of why my taste buds changed. I've tried to get back on Keto and the sugar cravings are so bad. I decided I'm going to go Carnivore but I've got to find out how much meat to eat. I think I can pull this off for at least a month. How much weight have you lost doing Carnivore?? Thanks so much for any suggestions you might have.

    Is it ok to eat smoked salmon on carnivore diet

  • @MikefromTexas1
    @MikefromTexas1 5 років тому +5

    Other organs are super nutritious too! Kidney, lung, heart, brain. You can also eat birds and fish (even reptile if you're into it). Also fish eggs, specifically salmon roe is really good for you!

      @HealthCoachKait  5 років тому +1

      @@HealthCoachKait Well I've tried gator and snake a few times, but that was just at some family functions. I did read that *all* animal products are good for this diet though, so y'know.
      Brain's not bad if you cook it right, the texture takes some gettin' used to though. Kiiinda like mashed taters. But... gooier? Not advertisin' very well I think.😂

    I’m looking to transition into a carnivore diet. I’ve been a bodybuilder for last decade eating mostly a high carb high protein diet. How do cheat meals come into play? And is it sustainable for keeping weight on and/or gaining lean mass/weight? And lastly, as far as protein shakes goes, are you supposed to cut out whey/dairy as well? Thanks!

      My thoughts on cheat days: ua-cam.com/video/bvU7I3nRpmU/v-deo.html Whey and dairy can be inflammatory for some but not all. I would be more concerned about the other ingredients in the protein powder since they usually aren't great. Equip has a good one though hckait.com/equip

      Diabetes is not caused by meat. It is caused by sugar and eating too many times a day. Nearly all health issues are caused by consuming sugar. I grew up eating wild game and fresh caught fish due to my family not having enough money to buy all the grocery store items. Sickness is virtually unheard of in my life. Ive never had a flu nor a cold.
      My blood pressure is great and during a physical for work I was told my grip strength was the most she had ever seen. In fact she made me do it several times to make sure the machine was not broke. Your name calling cant convince anyone that knows me that the way I eat is anything but the best way.

      In terms of dairy, butter is fine, it's more things like cheese, cream, etc. that are easy to over consume. You can cook with butter or animal fat: tallow, lard, duck fat, for example. Just don't trim the fat off your meat as well and you will be able to get enough in no problem!

      Most meat cows are slaughtered at 13-16 years old, often older when grass fed near 18. This is well above what a native cow would have lived and being open roaming grass fed means they lived a natural life.
      I can eat adult cows guilt free because I know they have already had a full life and then some compared to their natural counterparts.
      For that reason I avoid veal.

      I was 100 pounds overweight and making myself deathly sick, predisposing myself to type 2 diabetes, increased blood pressure and moderately severe edema. In 1 year following Dr Berg's ketogenic food plan, I lost 65 pounds and my muscle tone considerably improved. However, I got stuck at 220, and I was told by Dr Ken Berry and others I should try carnivore for a month as that sometimes breaks the plateau and allows a person to start losing weight again.
      I forgot to mention I discovered Dr Jason Fung and now do One Meal A Day, intermittent fast for 24 hrs, but if I do eat breakfast, it is semi-fatty bacon, 1/2 avocado, 2 eggs if they're large, 3 if medium. That was more than four months ago, and I found the easiest way to jump-start it was water fasting for 3 days, as your body resets its hunger & metabolism, so you're very comfortable on one meal a day.
      I also forgot to say I'll be 76 on Feb 17th 2019. My resting blood sugar's fallen from 15 > 5.65, and since going on the carnivore I'd a dramatic reduction in all my chronic pains, which were considerable, so I've gone from taking 6 to 8 codeine a day to 2 in the morning and often going without anything the rest of the day! 3 years ago I was on Tramadol, a synthetic morphine, that's how bad the pain was.
