    When I mentioned that I was going to try this diet a few years ago, inevitably, people would say "Isnt that dangerous?" Funny how no one was interested in my heath when I was 100 pounds overweight, which is MUCH more dangerous than this diet.

      This is a great video and I'm just starting to learn about a carnivore diet so I thank you for making this video. One point of correction though~ is that ''free range'', as far as I know, means nothing good when it comes to chickens. A producer of chickens can claim that their chickens are free-range raised even if the animal lives its entire life inside of a warehouse where a door to the outside is kept open for a mere 5 minutes a day. So the proper direction to send your listeners is pasture raised chickens~and on that note, I'm also finding that with beef the best thing to look for is grass raised and grass finished and I don't even know yet how to find out if the grass-fed beef I'm thinking of purchasing was also grass finished. I may have to go online and seek out a source for that-rather than depend on my local grocery store. I guess it all boils down to how much of a purist are you going to be about the sources of the meats we want to eat. I want the purest possible.

    • @hyperhoopa
      @hyperhoopa 4 роки тому +3

      @@ZA-we6ii I'd say the reverse is true. Plants have vitamins and minerals, some you only find in plants. Such as antioxidants, and other healthful properties like anti-bacterial/viral/fungal. Animal foods also have extra stuff that are not needed by humans such as cholesterol. I don't see the problem in gathering 2-3 plant foods for a meal, that's not hard.
      Some plants contain toxins but they can be neutralized by sprouting/cooking. If anything, steak and bacon are for pleasure, barely for health benefits. Plant foods provide pleasure as well as health benefits.

    • @hyperhoopa
      @hyperhoopa 4 роки тому

      @@ZA-we6ii Saying vegans don't care about scientific evidence only animal protection is an ignorant generalization. I am mostly vegan but I am not dismissive of scientific evidence. There are many other people on a vegan diet that don't particularly care about animal cruelty. I looked more into antioxidants and I understand it's not conclusive. Your reply about cholesterol sounds reasonable but not necessarily scientifically conclusive either. All plants having toxins- most plant foods are harmless to eat, and they typically contain vitamins and minerals in abundant amounts that are more in line with human needs than animal products.

    My blood pressure and glucose are so high. My doctor wants to put me on more meds. She has been saying I need to go on a cholesterol med, (which I have been refusing for over a year). I have been 'playing' around with the Keto Plan, but don't stay on it for more that a couple of days before giving into cravings. You are so calm and clear. Thank you for everything you do. I'm starting the Carnivore diet today! YES! Definitely add more recipes and ideas to stay healthy.

    • @KetoFocus

      I hope the carnivore diet helps curb your appetite and cravings. It has worked for me. You can also use it to transition into a keto diet too ...once you have those cravings and meal timing under control (less snacking, I mean). I believe a carnivore and keto diets are the best ways to eat if you have insulin issues (high glucose and blood pressure). Your high blood pressure is most likely caused from having too much insulin. Insulin causes water retention which increases blood pressure. That's why a diuretic is prescribed first when someone has high blood pressure. If you lower your insulin levels through diet, you will definitely see a lowering of your glucose and blood pressure.
      High cholesterol is a whole other ball of wax. There is nothing wrong with high cholesterol depending on the markers your doctor looks at. If they just did a basic lipid panel, it doesn't really tell much, but a lot of doctors will freak out when they see a high LDL. On a basic lipid panel, you have to look at the triglyceride to HDL ratio. This is a better indication of cardiac risk. You want your ratio to be less than 1. For example, my triglycerides are 42 and hdl is 65, so my ratio is 0.64. This means I'm low risk, but if my doctor only looked at my LDL (which is 150 and total cholesterol is 223), she would be concerned.
      LDL is just a carrier molecule. It's actually need to carry cholesterol throughout they body. Cholesterol is good! You need it for hormone and cell membrane production. When LDL becomes damaged through oxidation from bad oils that are easily oxidized in the body (vegetable oils) and insulin/sugar, that's when you start have problems. It's the type of cholesterol you have (small dense particles) that can be indicative of heart disease. The only way a doctor can tell this is if you have a particle test done...to tell molecule size.
      As you continue with the carnivore or keto diets, you will find your cholesterol markers improving as well. Since your triglycerides will decrease and hdl will increase. I am not a fan of cholesterol medication. It has it's place but the majority of times I think it is prescribed to the wrong people...people that don't need it. They have a slough of bad side effects (muscle tissue breakdown, hair loss, memory loss, depression, decreased sex drive) and people find they have to take more medication just to counteract the side effects that statins cause. As a pharmacist, I can look at someones profile and easy tell if they are on a statin. The majority of them are also taking antidepressants and viagra.
      Sorry this is long winded. There are some excellent books out there that go into insulin and cholesterol. Let me know if you are interested and I'll tell you the names.

    • @DaveRoberts308
      @DaveRoberts308 5 років тому +8

      @Donna Manning, don’t let your doctor bully you about meds, particularly cholesterol meds. I’ve been having the same fight with my doctor for years. The science around cholesterol meds is sketchy at best. There is some data that suggests that your risk of death goes **up**, even if your risk of heart disease goes down slightly. Also, the data shows no positive improvement for women. There are several books the go through the data (The Great Cholesterol Con, two good books by that same name, in fact, one by an Australian and one by a doctor in the UK). It astonishes me that the medical community is content to say that “health” equates with being on meds for the rest of your life. 🙄 I’m not anti-med at all. Temporary meds to cure an acute condition is fine. Meds as a permanent lifestyle is not. That’s where I’ve drawn the line with my doctor.

      When you start KETO it's the hardest because you will get cravings for the first week or so.
      I started KETO on a Thursday because I don't cook on weekends for the family (hubby and two adult kids can fend for themselves;) I also went to bed early 8PM..had to take half a sleeping pill first two nights. If I got cravings before bed I would drink a cup of decaf and eat a piece of cheese. Don't stay up late watching TV or surfing.
      Get enough fatty protein (meat) so cravings go away. Eating fat by way of fatty meats cooked in butter and some cheese will kill cravings. Take it from someone who was a serious sugar and carb addict. I trembled a bit when I cut sugar/carbs out. My body was screaming for it but I didn't give in. 4 days later all cravings gone and wouldn't even feel hungry. But those first few days were awful. Now I've been on KETO for 4 months. If I get some mild cravings I test for ketones and realize somehow I fell out of Ketosis. I'll then cut back on cream for coffee and analyze what caused me to fall out. Sometimes it could be too much protein. I have it pretty much down pat now and when I occasionally get cravings it's mild so I don't panic😱 and it passes once I eat an egg or piece of cheese. Sometimes just a cup of coffee is enough to kill it. The worse thing u can do is start eating carbs- cookies, cake, icecream, rice, pasta etc.

    I'm having a hard time giving up beer. I have about 8 beers a day. I did start the all meat diet 6 days ago. I've lost 7 pounds. But, my mind acts as is I snorted adderall. I'm on a different level. I just wish I could quit drinking.

    • @KetoFocus

      Can you replace the beer with another beverage (that is low carb and non-alcohol)? Like decaf coffee? Or even uncaffinated diet soda? I know diet soda isn't the best either, but if I gets you off the beer, then you wean yourself off diet soda. The first few weeks will be the worst.

    • @AxelAlexK
      @AxelAlexK 4 роки тому +3

      8 beers a day is really unhealthy dude no matter what diet you're on. That indicates an alcohol dependency problem. Consider talking to someone about it if you're having problems quitting. 8 beers a day is going to most likely lead to major health issues down the line so you definitely want to cut that down to more like 2 beers a day. If you're an all or nothing type person who can't do that you may need to quit entirely for your health's sake. And if you quit cold turkey be careful, alcohol withdrawal can be deadly and at 8 beers a day your brain may very well be physically dependent on it. As for carbs, light beer isn't so bad carbwise. Natural Light for instance only has 3 carbs a can. Full flavor beer is really bad though, it's basically liquid bread. Personally, it's my cheat. I let myself have some light beer once a week on Saturdays.

    A cow is not a “he”. Lol. We get milk from a cow. We mostly don’t eat cows, it would be tough as old boots. But beef is from cattle 🐄. In Ireland we don’t have “ grass fed” labels. Cause all our beef is grass fed. Grass is free !
    And kerrygold top of course. Kerrygold is from cows !

    It's not always easy finding or knowing what's grass-fed. I am in Ireland so maybe that's okay over here, not sure, I've never seen anything like that on the labels here.

      I get Kerrygold Irish butter here in Wales because it's the only butter I've seen in stores readily available that states it is grass fed on the packet. And the taste is I must admit delicious, much better than anythng else I can get here. I suspect some of the Welsh butter may be too but alas they don't label it and so I can't tell. And I'm worried post Brexit that Kerrygold may be more difficult to source here...it's certainly shot up in price recently
      As to grass fed meats you're right it's the same here. I'd like to be able to buy it even if more expensive but there's no finding it. The best I can do atm is buy Welsh Lamb. I've a feeling it may be grass fed as in the fields here (I'm rural) the sheep are out all year in pasture. ..or at least it seems that way. I can only hope I'm right. I do so wish grass fed meat was labelled! I share your frustrations.

    Good afternoon, I’m a 50 year old male, I’ve done keto for 16 month( 55 pounds), and carnivore for the last 3months. Two meals a day 16:8 or 20:4. My meals consist of mainly steak(ribeye) or ground beef, both grass Fed and eggs.
    However I do drink coffee with heavy cream and sweetened with erythritol. Since being on carnivore I’ve gain 5-6 pounds. I’m trying to lean out. Any suggestions?

    • @KetoFocus
      @KetoFocus  4 роки тому +1

      I have heard this can happen with carnivore. Supposedly, it's you body healing and hormones adjusting. Many have claimed they gain weight in the beginning but will lean out over time. It could be the erythritol too. I think it is inflammatory and your gut bacteria may not like it. You could try to cut it out slowly. Also the cream could be causing inflammation. But I'd try to do without the sweetener first.
