A quick note on a couple of things that seem to be tripping people up (slight spoilers below): ---------- 1) Yes, Thran Dynamo had a fate counter on it when the Oblivion Stone was activated. However, Vandalblast was still on the stack so it got destroyed by that. Admittedly, we could have done a better job explaining this interaction. Apologies. 2) Ixidron says "AS" it enters the battlefield. Therefore, it does not flip other creatures that enter at the same time as it does. Also, it only flips "nontoken" creatures. So there were no Ixidron misplays in this episode (unless you count Jimmy attacking me with it as a misplay...which I do) Hopefully this clears some things up. -JLK
Skyler N, that's not how apnap works here. It's Gabby's turn, thus she's active player, then the non active player's triggers go on the stack in turn order. So the stack looks like this: 1) Jimmy's Hulk 2) Jimmy's Hulk 3) Kenji's Hulk Resolving that stack, Kenji searches and his creatures ETB first. Jimmy played it correctly.
405.3: If an effect puts two or more objects on the stack at the same time, those controlled by the active player are put on lowest, followed by each other player's objects in APNAP order (see rule 101.4). If a player controls more than one of these objects, that player chooses their relative order on the stack.
As a newbie commander player (and MTG player in general), I just wanted to let you guys know how much I appreciate you taking the time in these videos to really explain what's going on, why and what the implications are. Working every action through so methodically (and with such great visuals), really helps me follow along. I learn so much from you guys! THANK YOU!!!

Rashmi says that the spell off the top has to be lower cmc than the spell cast, but she cast repeal, which is cmc 1 and played wall of roots, a cmc 2 spell, with Rashmi. I have played magic for years, and i literally just now had to look up why that works. I had no idea that when a spell is on the stack it can have a different cmc than it otherwise does. Heck i didn't even know you could reduce x costs, because for whatever reason, since i knew they weren't part of cmc normally (since they are 0) i considered them to be additional costs rather than part of the "cost of the spell" as it were. Boy am i glad i looked that up. Excellent game guys.
Wait, seriously? I have also been playing for years, I didn't know that either. And I play a Varolz the Scar Striped deck and run a Ghoultree. I know that THAT doesn't work, I looked it up, but I assumed it worked the same way for x spells on the stack. Guess not.
This was probably my favorite episode to date! I love watching Gabby and Kenji on Twitch, so to see them play some commander with Josh and Jimmy was awesome!
This was a really amazing episode. It is because of you guys I was able to get back into Magic. I was introduce to it when I was serving in the Air Force and I got into my first league when I was Afghanistan. When I came back to the states, I started to compete in the Standard format. I didn't enjoy Standard too much and felt like I couldn't have fun because people told me Magic isn't suppose to be fun. But you guys showed me it can be fun and I actually enjoy the Commander format more. Once again, thank you and I hope you the best success in the future.

one time I was playing against an arcum dagsson combo deck (I was piloting olivia voldaren vampire tribal), his deck was built around cheating out mycosynth lattice, darksteel forge and nevinyrral's disk in three turns to lock everybody else out of the game. he had everything out, waiting to untap disk and nobody had any answers. Then my turn comes up and I draw chaos warp (the only card in my deck than do anything to his combo) I wait until his turn, let him untap disk and activate it and I warp his forge in response. we weren't locked out, and he never cast arcum again :3
i actually made the arcum dagsson deck 4 years ago, my first homebrew after converting it over from colorless karn to blue artificers, and yes that combo is the cheapest way to make the table hate you. i actually took nev disk out....i dont like it for the simple reason that edh is meant to be savored. winning this way didnt bring me satisfaction after awhile, i felt dead inside. however the nev disk/forge/lattice combo is nice occasionally if you need to stomp out other more annoying decks like weenie rush or some kind of apostle demon tutors.

Most vicious game I've been in was an Arch Enemy game were the Arch Enemy was using an Eldrazi deck, and his first scheme let him scry the top few of his deck and get a free creature to battlefield so he got a turn 0 Blightsteel Collossus......
tense match, sympathetic players, funny & intelligent comments.. and on top even really well presented! keep it up guys, you helped reigniting my love for magic big time :)
Jackson Wald That is nothing. My commander is Varolz the Scar Striped. I run things like Guttergrime and Death's Presence, and low cmc creatures with high powers. I love when people wipe my board. I once had a turn where someone who was playing the wizard tribal deck from last year played kindred dominance 3 times in a single turn. I ended that turn with 6 tokens creatures at 40/40+.
One of the people in my group runs a token fling deck with thromok the insatiable. You don't know terror until a 7-figure worm is tossed across the table.
i have never played a single game of MTG but i find these episodes amazingly engaging The quality of the production and editing is top notch. Thanks for all your hard work. I understand about 1/5th of what im hearing, lol, but is still pretty cool.
I was playing my dragonlord ojutai against a Gitrog monster. I had top and study out. He started his infinite combo to kill everyone (eldrazi Titans and exanguinate, plus Gitrog for infinite Mana) in response to his casting I topped. Put a dissipate on top, he didn't pay for the study. I drew dissipate and countered his exanguinate so he couldn't kill everyone.
Thats some good shit dude. Just to add to this story dissipate is one of the only possible counters to that combo because if the exanguinate had hit the graveyard the combo could bring it back into the hand with the extra draws from dredging lands into the graveyard.
Jakson Baus well this is why you run redundancies... i run at least 5 ways to win with the combo and double rituals as it’s near impossible to break that.
That wouldn't work though, the rystic study trigger is in addition to the mana cost, so you would have drawn it as the spell resolved, so the exsenguanate would have resolved before you could play the dissipate
I was in a situation where my opponent had a silumgar drifting death on the battlefield and 3 other dragons, so whenever he attacked, all of my creatures (zombie tokens) got -4/-4 and kept dying. So I played vedalken orrery, black sun zenith'ed, then flashed in necroskitter, which gave me control of all of his creatures. Needless to say I was pretty content.
First time in the channel and I can't deny that this is really good for someone who likes to play commander but doesn't have any playmate (just yet). And of course the channel has its own eye candy, and yes that's you Josh (drops all the mancards down).
I had a player In my pod bribery a blight steel colossus out of another players library and than the owner of the blight steel colossus play homeward path and kill the guy who briberyed it
I don't like talking about Blightsteel and Homeward Path in the same scenario. Someone attacked me with my own Blightsteel and I had Path untapped. I let the damage through, not even thinking. Sad day in magic for me.
Watching all of Command Zone videos backwards and I am finally here, 6 years ago. Having watched A TON of videos, I can say for sure that this is probably my favorite one. What a game. Coming from a future where Jimmy misses a lot of land drops and doesn't win a lot, this as his most beautiful win for sure haha. Also, Kenji is just so sweet and cute.
Feel like we never see Josh and Jimmy as the last two alive. I’ve watched like 40 of these and this is the only episode that I can recall of this happening. Although I haven’t seen as many of the older episodes.
That was nuts. So much interaction and everyone coming back from boardwipes. I thought josh was going to do his shenanigans when he was searching for cards before he passed the the turn and then jimmy takes the win. Great episode!!!
Woah! So many uploads! Thank you. You introduced me to commander. At my first commander event I won 2 Rivals booster packs and got the “sphinxes tutelage” elder dragon and the black one
Hey Josh and Jimmy! I just wanted to say thank you. I fell out of Magic due to losing my play group and moving to a new city. I would sometimes play on Xbox but it was never the same so I game up and sold most my cards :'( But watching your videos has inspired and excited me enough to reach out to stores to find when their players play Commander and I'm gonna give it a shot. P.S. Animar it my dude. I used a decent amount of artifact creatures and ETB guys, so fun!
That was without doubt, the best Game Knights yet! I love Commander games where everyone gets to do stuff, and the stuff done is hilariously busted, and the Commanders powerful. Wish I could Favorite it multiple times!!

This is sure the best game of them all and with the higest power level. I really liked it.
5:31 I lost it after what jimmy said
Most vicious game I've been in was an Arch Enemy game were the Arch Enemy was using an Eldrazi deck, and his first scheme let him scry the top few of his deck and get a free creature to battlefield so he got a turn 0 Blightsteel Collossus......
Gross, powerful and very gross. Did he end up winning or did you guys save the day?
@@Ovcharka88 we all scooped... It would be one on one by the time we had two lands
tense match, sympathetic players, funny & intelligent comments.. and on top even really well presented! keep it up guys, you helped reigniting my love for magic big time :)
I appreciate you guys showing how the new cards synergies are, I haven't played magic since 2007 and am getting back into the game.
So glad to see animar win! The best thing it was none COMBO!!!!
So glad you guys got gabby on she is awesome! This was the best game knights yet. Such a swingy game 😁
This episode has without question the largest creatures in all of game knights history. 5 18/18 in one turn?! A 22/22? What even is commander
Now been replaced with Josh's giant Ob Nixilis in the latest episode.
One of the people in my group runs a token fling deck with thromok the insatiable.
You don't know terror until a 7-figure worm is tossed across the table.
My record was in my Zndrsplt and Okaun deck where Okaun hit 98304 power and toughness. Fling, thou art a remorseless bastard and I love you
With okan, people have gotten over 1228/1228 on okaun in games I've played.
one of the most back and forth games ive seen in a while, great shit guys, this series is awesome
i have never played a single game of MTG but i find these episodes amazingly engaging The quality of the production and editing is top notch.
Kinda cool how Jimmy and Josh are celebrating past players with Masters 25 cards. Synergy there. :)
34:40 as a tron commander player, that reaction gets me everytime lol
First time in the channel and I can't deny that this is really good for someone who likes to play commander but doesn't have any playmate (just yet). And of course the channel has its own eye candy, and yes that's you Josh (drops all the mancards down).
Omfg I can’t believe it. Kenji’s on Game Knights.
EDIT: Good Lord, he’s also playing the nummy one as his commander
Hugapugtoday Mate I mean, no way we could have him on the show playing a Not-Numot deck right?
You’re entirely right
This guy turn two bribery grabbed my emurkal eldritch moon one and just beat everyone down
I had a player In my pod bribery a blight steel colossus out of another players library and than the owner of the blight steel colossus play homeward path and kill the guy who briberyed it
I don't like talking about Blightsteel and Homeward Path in the same scenario. Someone attacked me with my own Blightsteel and I had Path untapped. I let the damage through, not even thinking. Sad day in magic for me.
Literally Genji would say "I need healing" 46:03
He was making a joke, brain, use it
Watching all of Command Zone videos backwards and I am finally here, 6 years ago. Having watched A TON of videos, I can say for sure that this is probably my favorite one. What a game. Coming from a future where Jimmy misses a lot of land drops and doesn't win a lot, this as his most beautiful win for sure haha. Also, Kenji is just so sweet and cute.
Great episode! You guys have such a fantastic production value and polish ❤️
“Do you pay the 1?” That’s my catchphrase when I play my spells deck
This game never gets old. Probably cause its a casual commander game. DO MORE EXTRA TURNS PLZ
But, I have to study! Well I guess my studying can wait
Jacob Westfahl That’s what I say
You can't study if your opponents keep paying 1 mana!
lol i was supposed to do taxes
so you paid one
Feel like we never see Josh and Jimmy as the last two alive. I’ve watched like 40 of these and this is the only episode that I can recall of this happening. Although I haven’t seen as many of the older episodes.
That was nuts. So much interaction and everyone coming back from boardwipes. I thought josh was going to do his shenanigans when he was searching for cards before he passed the the turn and then jimmy takes the win. Great episode!!!
I wish kenji was in more episodes he is super entertaining.
My god this game was such a roller coaster. I love commander
Holy shit Kenji, you think you got enough mana ramp there?
Jimmy's Morph deck looks super cool, though.
Woah! So many uploads! Thank you. You introduced me to commander. At my first commander event I won 2 Rivals booster packs and got the “sphinxes tutelage” elder dragon and the black one
I love this channel!!! The vids are so much fun and it's nice to see a great group of people enjoying the game. THANK YOU!
Great game guys!. Woot numot and gaby on game knights!
I feel like Josh ran out of ways to say "This is bad" at some point.
I felt like Josh was going to start speaking another language to say “this is bad” more
This was, hands-down, the most flip-flop game on this channel.
Hey Josh and Jimmy! I just wanted to say thank you. I fell out of Magic due to losing my play group and moving to a new city. I would sometimes play on Xbox but it was never the same so I game up and sold most my cards :'(
But watching your videos has inspired and excited me enough to reach out to stores to find when their players play Commander and I'm gonna give it a shot.
Jimmy finally won? Hahah. Bring back Kenji more!
