In today's episode of Game Knights, Josh plays as Amaz who plays as Josh, meanwhile Jimmy also plays as Josh, then destroys his own life total and exiles his own deck. Oh, and MTGNerdGirl blows up a Necropotence.
The decks a mess and (IMO) barely has any Kykar synergy, it's part super friends, part anthem tribal, part storm with no artifact ramp. With a budget like that there is no reason not to run mana rocks and talismans. I just think it was a really bad deck.

To me the big mistake was not "using" JLK to disrupt Amaz board state in every possible way and just simply sabotaging Josh. Amaz at that stage in the game was clearly a HUGE threat.
Indeed, I remember thinking at that point of the video that I would seriously consider taking control of Amaz's turn instead. Unfortunately, Jimmy absolutely destroyed Josh, fueled Amaz some more (Ryhstic Studies) and utterly disrupted any sort of power balance there was in the game.
not at all, josh didn't just lose turns, he was actively sabotaged during those turns, not to mention that jimmy's obsession with sabotaging josh on his own turn blinded him to the play that could have saved him that turn.
Yeah, using Decimate only on Josh's stuff was clearly a wrong move. I don't get why he didn't at least target Tatyova and Guardian Project, instead of letting Amaz draw so much cards. Especially when he planned to keep the lock on Josh anyway. If you intend to use a player as a weapon, why weaken him so much?
If you pay attention, Jimmy is a true red mage. Sometimes he tunnel visions one target a bit too hard. Not trying to be mean Jimmy much love from a huge fan but it is detrimental to your overall success sometimes I feel. On the flipside of that it can happen to anyone, especially when a game is this bonkers. @@kal-el-fornia2479 The deck didn't seem terrible to me. It's just that she was playing Boros Signet on turn 7 instead of turn 2. She cast her commander on turn 4 unprotected, with 3 other commanders already on the board. The chance she untaps with it are basically nil but it's probably her only option. For all we know she's got a bunch of haymakers like Cyclonic Rift and Insurrection and stuff to turn the game around once she's pumping mana out of her commander but when your turn 4 play is a 3/3 flier and your opponent responds by casting Plague Wind and Blatant Thievery in the same turn you just aren't winning that game.
@@OMGclueless Her decklist is online, and no insurrection, but she did have cyclonic rift. Overall, I thought her decklist was straight bad. You can see the decklist is very bad. Lots of big value spells without ramp (with ramp it would be just like the other decks, not competitive, not really strong, but fine is most tables with splashy cards). yeah absolutely if you have one player on a lock, it doesn't matter if you move him forward.
Indeed, I remember thinking at that point of the video that I would seriously consider taking control of Amaz's turn instead. Unfortunately, Jimmy absolutely destroyed Josh, fueled Amaz some more (Ryhstic Studies) and utterly disrupted any sort of power balance there was in the game.
exactly, Jimmy should have Mind Slaved him instead of Josh.
I disagree. I think mind slaving josh was fine. However he should have pointed most of if not all of josh's resources at amaz

@@high1223 Blowing up/taking lands really isn't disrespectful man. Especially when he tutored for them. Or are you referring to something from outside the game?
@@brandog5363 His general attitude of "Oh, I'm already winning, so might as well just grind you into the dirt before finishing you off" is what was disrespectful. Also, everyone knows that you need to be a special kind of asshole to play land hate (outside of that one card you need to deal with maze of ith or dark depths).
Mel Li said it best: "What kind of a person doesn't let you use your lands!?"
Good god, you guys must have the patience of saints. I was getting salty and I wasn't even at the table.
Same here.
Yep
Absolutely.
Right?! 😬
Especially NerdGirl, must be extremely frustrating to not draw any of your ramp and then even get some mana stuff stolen/blown up when you are on the show for the first time. I think that her deck (and the commander) is probably on the weaker side compared to the other stuff but she could still have done quite a lot I think.
Josh; “This is fun, I’m playing Magic.”
NerdGirl; “-.-“
Catching up on older GK episodes and honestly, this one is rough. Between all the extra turn and Mindslaver shenanigans, MTG Nerd Girl not getting to develop a board and Amaz going way overkill on her mana base at the end, the whole thing felt like a competition for who could generate the most salt at the table. Props to MTG Nerd Girl for taking her licks in good sport, but man this game would’ve been better if everyone had gotten more of a chance to play evenly.
Would love to see Day9 Back on here, Sean is such a happy little treasure.
Day9 and Cassius
@@MetalOnyxWolf Day9 and Danny Trejo!
Day9 and Jacob Holloway
I'd love to see him play commander and not those basic starter decks
My dream guest would be Brandon Sanderson but I'm assuming he's too busy writing at every waking moment with how fast he puts out books.
Jimmy: Plays Krosan Verge.
Me: Oh Jimmy must be playing a budget version of his deck.
Jimmy: Fetches for Bayou
Me: Huh
krosan verge is not a budget it is the strongest tutor land in the entire game of magic by far
@@dragullongblackfang8073 it's the fact that he used a budget fetch for the expensive dual land... it's the irony
Yeah no Krosan verge is a worse fetch land than evolving wilds
@@Riboflav1n how? There are non basic lands that enter play tapped unless you deal 2 damage to yourself, and produce 2 mana types. Oh, and they share the 2 types that the basic lands that produce those manas would (the shock land that produces red and blue mana for instance is a mountain and an island.)
@@dragullongblackfang8073 "Budget" referrs to the cards _monetary_ cost.
Jimmy, why kethis, you are aware there is a monored legend in the set right?
I just want him to play my boi kumano
"Always attack the strongest player", attacks Josh.
Jimmy: "What?????? I'm insulted!"
Josh: "Always has the board state / combos that makes everyone go 3 vs 1 on"
That's why, Jimmy. lol.
Hey, wait a minute... I thought this was a GAMEKNIGHTS episode, not EXTRA TURNS! >:(
Josh: Urza is too powerful
Also josh: I’m taking 3 extra turns and bringing all cards back
To be fair, isochron sceptor/ dramatic reversal, lots of mana rocks tutor for the land that tutors for artefacts, play a lot of tutors to find dramatic reversal, infinite mana, pst combo (Without the paradox engine now because the rules committee likes to up the price of engine alternatives but has only impacted some less powerful cedh decks like captain sissay) and bobs your uncle.
I mean, he clearly removed Expropriate from his deck, otherwise there's no way he wouldn't have put that on top instead of Aminatou's Augury, right? At least there's some attempt.
25:00 "i hope amaz get's unlucky" Josh i got some bad news for you my friend.
So, I've been watching all episodes, one after the other, for the past couple of weeks. First of all you guys are a drug. No, seriously, this format is more addicting than caffeine. I wasn't even a commander player, that's why I discovered you this late... But I'm starting to play the format thanks to you. Thank you for the amazing hard work you've put in it, seeing all the shows in sequence you can clearly tell an incredible progression: amazing job. Love it, take your time, much is needed as we know, but please keep on do it! In the meantime I'll go donate because I can't think of anybody whom deserve better my support. Cheers from Italy
I don't even play MtG. but I got hooked. lmao.
How are you so relatable, hey from Italy also
