  • An unexpected day today to round off this weeks vlogs!
    I had planned on doing another steady state erg today to complete the week of steady state training at a reasonable heart rate but Adam had other ideas! It is always more fun to do a workout with someone else rather than doing it on your own so when Adam suggested this workout I couldn't refuse!
    If you are interested in helping out with the new channel logo send an email over to contact@yamsquad.com. I would greatly apprecaite any help from people who are either more creative or have better design skills than I do!

    Great workout Cam. Adam has a great erg technique. I think you'd benefit from relaxing your arms at the start of the stroke. Eric Murray says at the catch you should feel like your legs are pulling your arms out of the socket, Adam does that v well and I think it plays a big part in his stroke looking so smooth. It's quite noticeable when you row side by side even though you're a v powerful athlete. I'm no coach just an observation.

      Appreciate the feedback, thank you! Something I work on constantly - a bad habit that's hard to shake!

      Quick Curve he literally said that it was just an observation, and he is right! He put it in a really friendly way so i dont see a problem. I’m no GB rower, but it’s bullshit that they are perfect and hence can’t be critiqued, altough they can be very near perfection. If cam wouldn’t appreciate the feedback, he would make it clear :)

    That 1k at R34 felt like the first 1k from a 2k, didn't it

  • @ryanranger4954

    Cam, what one thing would you say made the biggest difference to your power output on the erg? Think I saw somewhere that your 2k has come down from 6.55 to some other worldly pace. I'm a beginner and my current PB is 6.29 - I attribute that to being tall, heavy and having a background in other sports. Right now I have to put an awful lot of effort in to get down to a 1.30 split (just for example) how do I go about making that easier to maintain? Love the channel by the way.

    For me, if you feel the chain becoming taut (or the blade hitting the water), then the drive is mis-timed. A good catch is invisible, you know you have started to work but you can't put your finger on exactly when the connection was made. The catch is like the spoon from The Matrix; the truth is that when you reach a high enough level, you understand it isn't really a thing :-)

      For sure. I feel much more capable getting, or not getting, the feeling on the water. Probably down to the fact this week has been the first time on the erg in a while! You can see the difference in my arms left and right, left seems to want to be straight on the erg, but this doesn't match my rowing side! 😂

    What drag factor would you recommend for steady state?

      There are so many opinions on this. The test DF is 138 for GB. Many other countries use lower numbers, I like a little lower too!

    6x1K probably isn't coachs favorite ;) But if it is fun for you and you still respect 80/20 or doing even 90/10 (aerobic&easy / anaerobic&hard) it is fine."The dose makes a poison" means too much from something isn't good.

    • @CameronBuchan
      @CameronBuchan  5 років тому +1

      For sure!! Definitely under 80/20!

      They are doing some renovation, that's actually an old part of the ceiling where there was a burst pipe last week!
