Low-key Jun today!! I’m not used to a normal level of excitement out of you! You are a very nice husband to listen your wife when she says “Go catch a Perch!!”
Awesome work on catching them perch, that's good eatin hehe... just happened to chance on your channel since I got back into fishing, looking forward to more videos...patis makes everything taste better!
3 quarter onz egg sinker .size 6 hook. Spaghetti strainer and your hand to dig out the sand crabs in to the spaghetti strainer. And they make a rake to get sand crabs. I've done a lot of surf fishing the difference between the two crabs is one has shed its hard shell. They both are good to fish with.
"she told me to go fishing and catch her some surf perch" I think we'd all love to have a wife like that!! I noticed what looks like a yellow hook keeper forward of the reel seat. I've two rods that don't have a hook keeper, would like to add something for that purpose. Really don't understand why this isn't on all rods??
Thanks for all your tips, I hooked up 2 stripers this year in one trip, using hard shell sand crabs with orange eggs. I have one more question about when to use gulp sand worms and when to use sand crabs? Thank you.
Jun.. Bud... You make this look too easy. Wish i would of watch your video before heading out to seal beach today.. I could see the perch jumping out of the water between the 3rd and 2nd sand banks. Youre showing me the ropes and i appreciate that!
Sweet! trying my luck tomorrow along Marin coast, haven't ocean shore fished before - looking forward to it. 2.5 hour drive from Sacto - hope it's worth it! thanks for sharing your techniques. My wife is not pregnant, but told me it's time to bring home the fish!
Die Hard Fishing Dude I saw your latest striper video. Man that was huge!! Crazy battle you had there but I was crying 😭 while I was watching it because... you know why 😭😭😭 hahhaha
The video and fishing look great, i just wonder what you put on a barred surf perch to change that funky musty taste they have. The meat is also quite soft and have quite a few bones . Basically we just put them back and work the the surf for halibut instead and load the freezer for months when the halibut are gone. fish fried in oil is a classic old way to cook fish and maybe thats the way to incorporate some fat and more flavor but i'm wondering what spices other than Salt and pepper would help.
I have a request . ''More than fishing'' + fisherman's life + friends . Should make a weekend trip to travel to some small island with boat and set up camp for that weekend :) . It will be so cool . doing Boat , spear fishing and normal surf and rock fishing . on the island :)
Great informational video! I've seen them catch a ton of perch using sand crabs but nobody ever explained what they were or how to get them. I plan on fishing Fort Bragg in May so I want to give this a try. Thanks for the video!
Nice. Really fun fishing for surf perch. I wish we had sand crabs here in Washington but unfortunately we don't lol seems like surf perch really enjoy them there. I guess Sand shrimp will do for now :)
Try GULP imitation sandworms in the 2" size, camo color. Also Berkeley's " Micetails" in chartreuse and orange, which is for trout, but works for red tails, too. Razor clam necks work, too. Berkeley also makes an imitation ghost shrimp, haven't tried it yet, but I'll stretchy string them onto a hook, just like live sand shrimp, and see if it works too, next trip out to the coast. When I'm in the field, I carry a variety of imitations and natural baits, switch them up, when the perch get picky. Fish are funny that way, they'll hit one offering consistently, and then refuse to touch it after awhile, so I've learned through experience, to have an "arsenal" of offerings to throw at them, on hand. Good luck. Tight lines.
Great video!!! I think it would be really helpful if you showed how to set up the fish finder rig (knots) also I live in the bay area any recommended fishing spots. or just anywere on the shore.
Nice educational video. Enjoyed! I need to get out to coast for some surf fishing. Looks like pearch still biting... what about stripper action? Thanks for posting!
Okay thank you for the update. It takes nearly 2.5 hours of driving one way to get there for me. But, it looks like Die Hard Fishing got a big one. Going to check out his video.
I found this place by searching for a spot to fish for my first surf perch fishing a few days ago. Took me 5 hours to find this place by chance. Not telling anybody lol. Met some older guy named Sam that goes there regularly. My biggest perch was 14”. Made some killer tacos
went fishing yesterday at halfmoon bay, got skunked while surf perch fishing, not sure what happened. it was my first time surf fishing but i was doing everything right so idk
Yeah, 2.0 hook is kinda big for perch. The reason I use 2.0 is because of the possibility of hooking up a striper however I use size 4 for artificial sandworm and lighter tackle
Really love your enthusiasm Braddah. Also thanks for all the good tips about rigs, , different kind of sand crabs, regulations, etc. I am new to surf fishing, but I am really enjoying it. Thank you so much!
The daily bag and possession limit is 20 fish in combination of all species (except shiner perch), with not more than 10 fish of any one species..Jan 14, 2019
You can Just use a bait needle, and a small Treble... pulling it back to rest against that area of crab , they just try to nip off. They look to be bait stealers, just like fresh water perch.
Is it true that we in California get two spawning runs a year, spring & fall ??if true around when is the fall run 🎣🎣 i should be able to chase some on the Sacramento River
Perfect fishing, happy, laughing, catch a few, return one. You go dude.
Low-key Jun today!! I’m not used to a normal level of excitement out of you! You are a very nice husband to listen your wife when she says “Go catch a Perch!!”
Thanks
Wish my wife says that to me everyday
No clue that there were soft and hard shell sand crabs! Thank you so much!
Awesome work on catching them perch, that's good eatin hehe... just happened to chance on your channel since I got back into fishing, looking forward to more videos...patis makes everything taste better!

Love your videos bro.. thanks for the techniques.. can’t wait to hit the surf and catch some perch and hopefully some striped bass..
Thanks 👍
wondering if those sand crabs would make a good seafood boil stock for flavoring or for fish soup or stew
Thanks for the education on surf fishing I’m now a new follower of you

You're awesome description at the end won me over. I love when people talk about food like that!
Thanks for all your tips, I hooked up 2 stripers this year in one trip, using hard shell sand crabs with orange eggs.
I have one more question about when to use gulp sand worms and when to use sand crabs?
Thank you.

A great visual demonstration. Thanks.
Love the way you already imagined how you gonna eat the fish even before you got home... looks tasty
Great video Jun!!!! We should get back out on the beach again soon!!!
Thanks bro

Die Hard Fishing
Dude I saw your latest striper video. Man that was huge!! Crazy battle you had there but I was crying 😭 while I was watching it because... you know why 😭😭😭 hahhaha
hahahahaahaha, don't worry there are still big ones out there!
Your method of hooking the sand crab is the best
Nice video. Fun to watch. Way more pole than you need for Perch. I prefer a light Steelhead rod. Makes it a little more fun.
Keep the channel going.
Yeah, You’re right.
I didn’t bring my light Tackle that was my striper set up. I was planning to do some plugging that day.
Likely the softshell sandcrab is just a hardshell sandcrab in which it has molted and hence the carapace hasn’t hardened yet
The video and fishing look great, i just wonder what you put on a barred surf perch to change that funky musty taste they have. The meat is also quite soft and have quite a few bones . A softshell is a hard shell that has molted, it has an exoskeleton
Awesome videos thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
You make it look so easy Jun. Wife will be happy.
Its not a separate species, its a sand crab that just molted and the shell hasn't hardened yet.
Looking to get into surf fishing. And tips on places to start? I'm from the Eastbay
Like the tomatoes and Patis! How about Sinigang?
How big do the barb perch have to be? I'm going to half moon bay next weekend😊

Cast in deeper water for bigger fish. But small one is better for frying though if no size limit.

Willgree. Braid work
When is the best time, of the year, to target perch?
Seems to me a fish finder rig is very similiar to a carolina rig ?! What's the difference ?
Does sandcrab works at any beach for perch or at a certain beach only ?
What season is the best for fishing these ?
So on your fish finder rig, why are you using a slider, then a swivel then a lock snap instead of just a slide and sinker? Excuse my ignorance.
Good job, PINOY!
Hey where is that place that you catch those fish
What hook sized you using ?
I found this place by searching for a spot to fish for my first surf perch fishing a few days ago. Took me 5 hours to find this place by chance. Not telling anybody lol. Met some older guy named Sam that goes there regularly. My biggest perch was 14”. Made some killer tacos

Yeah, 2.0 hook is kinda big for perch. The reason I use 2.0 is because of the possibility of hooking up a striper however I use size 4 for artificial sandworm and lighter tackle
Haha Jun... Das a real Filipino.. wit the hands n rice

Dig your feet into the sand as the tide is pulling brother. Like you doing the twist. Catch waaaaaay more San crabs
Really love your enthusiasm Braddah. Also thanks for all the good tips about rigs, , different kind of sand crabs, regulations, etc. I am new to surf fishing, but I am really enjoying it. Thank you so much!
Isn't 10 perch combined species?
Here in CA 20 perch limit, 10 for it’s kind. 10.5 inches for Redtail
The daily bag and possession limit is 20 fish in combination of all species (except shiner perch), with not more than 10 fish of any one species..Jan 14, 2019
