You are my inspiration to fish more and to never stop fishing your videos got me threw some tough times mostly my depression when my parents spilt and my dad was the only one who loved fishing as much as i do so i took a break on fishing since i can't see my dad anymore but your videos helped me developed the courage to go so now i am going on saturday at the green river maybe some of you who see this and fish in the green river i'll be here:
26220 Green River Rd
If you want to drop by and say hi.
So i want to thank you so much man your videos pulled me out of my depression and i look up to you as a great role model. I wish i could fish with you some day fish on life 🎣
Dude. I am speechless. My parents got divorced too, when I was young. So I understand how you feel. Just knowing this makes me want to fish twice as hard for you man 🎣 Fishing has helped me through all sorts of tough times. I don't know if it's the fishing itself, or just being out in nature, but it has healing powers.... I don't know how old you are, but make some good friends who fish, and those will be the best friendships and adventures you'll have. A whole life if waiting, and I hope you can spend as much time in it fishing as possible!!!! 🤙
Double check the Green River, to see if it is open. I think they closed it on Tuesday, due to Chum having problems. And please message me on Instagram or FB, so we can fish together sometime 🎣
@@NWFishingSecrets thank you for understanding i realized i'm not alone the whole fishing community is amazing and i only have 1 friend who fishes but he moved to Puyallup but now i know that everyone is my friend. Thank you and fish on brother 🎣🎣🎣
You nailed it man - approach the world with open arms, and you will likely receive a big ol hug. That's what I believe anyhow 😆Fish on! 🎣 🎣 🤙
@@NWFishingSecrets yeah thanks for the heads up about the river might go to the Puyallup river on saturday or Sunday
Sorry about your parents but it’s great that you love fishing as well. We’re always here for you man! 🤙✌️
Little tip is that if you put a good amount of salt on some fillets of perch and put some paper towels under and over, let them sit for 4-24 hours and they should be less mushy and more flakey
I have lived up here for almost 11 years and never made it to the coast. Looks like so much fun.
Do it!! Even if just a quick sight seeing trip, it’ll totally be worth it!
my favorite NWFS video I've seen so far. I like seeing the "mistakes" you make, Leif. And you and Brian have great comedic energy
This is one of the only videos of yours I haven't watched I had to scroll way down to find this one. I think it was awesome when you did this video with your friend his facial expressions were priceless.
One day it’ll be nice to do a meet and greet and maybe we all do some surf perch fishing out that way. Plenty room out there. It’s why I like perch fishing. Gets you away from the crowded river banks during peak season.
You're 100% right, Salmon season is fun to harvest, but the crowds get old. Hard to find secluded spots. Definitely gonna do an event out there this year 🔥
@@NWFishingSecrets yes, A meet and greet with you would be Awesome!!! I might be twice your age , but you and me are like brothers. I love the outdoors and fishing!! When I was younger I use to take friends and neighborhood kids fishing. Just to get them out and away from the tv.. much respect to you!! Definitely let’s hook up a meet and greet this year!! We would all love to say hello and thanks!!
Love this video looks like so much fun and I know it tastes delicious eating them!!!! Keep on keeping on sir you are doing well!!!!🎣🎣🎣🎣
The perfect surf perch setup! Use that setup every time I hit Westport! I usually go on outgoing tide.
Oh and never turn your back on the ocean or else she’ll get ya!
LOL she'll get ya good! Brian could tell you all about that 🤣 Was my first time, so I'm glad I had Brian there to tell me about this setup. Sounds like it's the right one! 🎣
Life, thanks for the motivation Im looking forward to watching more of ur videos. Also what location we're u at?
Tidal Roots, is anywhere on Westport shore good fishing spots?
@@freddyraymendiola2988 hmmmm it’s hard to say cause the fish move along the coast and if your hot in one spot the next day it could be dead. I would just go during low tide and look for troughs to see where fish would hang out during high tide or incoming tide. That’s really the best advice. Sorry if it’s vague. Good luck!
Love your channel! Just found and started binging. Moving up to the PNW in a few months and youre making me so stoked! Thank you!
Another awesome video!!! I've been still chasing the coho with bobber and eggs as the run comes to an end. Got a PB buck coho! 14.3 pounds! Can't thank you enough for all the help with your videos! Not only do you make them fun to watch, they are very informational! Fish on baby!!!
14.3lbs?!? That's a HAWWWG!! Love hearing that, man... These videos are a blast to make for you all, and I'm so glad you enjoy them being fun besides just informational. See you for dem Razor Clams next week!!! FISH ON BABY!!! 🎣 😆
Awesome video, man! I couldn't stop smiling - outstanding.
Yes bro!!!! Your videos are hanging! Just lovely wholesomeness. You really have a high respect for food which I think is something common in our respective cultures. I’m Filipino American and we don’t like wasting food either. However, what counts is you went out there this day of the video and you tried something. Not a complete lost either man! I mean you got the fish on point. It was just sad to see the disappointment but that’s natural. I most likely would have felt the same and show the same expression too. However, I think your level of care shows in these videos man. We saw you respecting wild life and I also strongly believe exceeds the disappointment in the outcome of the cornbread. Keep pushin man!
Love how realistic the video is, sometimes catch and cooks can work out well (Perch) and sometimes not so much (hush puppies) like the cut where it goes to you editing lol 17:25
LOL thank you man. Glad you can appreciate my humor and no craps given about letting you guys know when stuff goes wrong! Those hushpuppies are my biggest culinary fail of 2019 😂 The fish was good though! 🤙 Thank you for enjoying, as always! 🎣
@@NWFishingSecrets hey is there any good spot to surf fish in Westport pls let me know thanks
binge watching your channel for three days in a row dude!!! love how much youve grown brother!!
This is my favorite video of yours so far. All the mess-ups and laughing about make it so relatable.
@@NWFishingSecrets I'm going backpacking on the coast next week so I'm re-watching all your perch videos. Will be my first time fishing the coast. Super excited! Very much appreciate all the work you put into these
Love surf perch! Interesting fish, they are a live birther. I've caught them on kastmasters near the mouth of the Klamath in California (State of Jefferson lol)
Awesome! They seem to be quite the predator if they bite Kastmasters! And the whole live birth thing... wild!
Love this. Surf perch is so fun, and it's year round.
Love your stuff man!! I live just north of Seattle. I'm just getting into fishing! Super glad I found your channel!!!
I’ve lived in WA for 7 years now and I can honestly say the fishing is different out here
My favorite part which cracked me up is when you said "good ole butthole" 🤣🤣
I’ve been following you about 1 year, watched almost all videos. In Turkey we use corn or wheat flour when frying white meat fishes, they make fishes crispy and get less oil inside.
Loving the saltwater action lately, keep it up 👍🏻😁
Thank you! Will be doing more. Razor Clams next week, then some freshwater stuff, then probably back to Salt!
Always a pleasure watching you’re videos.
Thank you, means a lot to hear! Always a pleasure making them for you 🎣
Recent subscriber here all the way from South Africa love the content and just enjoy life man cuz your living it to the full
Love your message man, can't wait to get out and fish!
Another great video!!! Delicious Perch😉👍great job guys 💥👊
Thank you so much! It was a great trip, and I'm so glad I was able to show you something different! M ore coming your way! 🎣
Oldy goldy man you just don't have enough content. I've seen all your catch and cooks some 2 or 3 times. You gotta get out there bro. Lol
Great video as always!! Perch fishing is my favorite
Oh man, surf perch fishing on the coast is a blast. Never caught enough to make a meal, but I had a blast every time.
I’ve caught a lot of perch with my father off the Carolina coast, I love your videos
Hey Lief, raised my family and grew up in So Cal. Fished all the beaches and piers, surf perch nuggets flash fried coated with Dixie Fry and some tartarer sauce, doesnt get any better than that, ummm...
Love your catch and cook videos. Your doing a great job. 👍🇨🇦
I've wanted to do this for a while. This looks like SO much fun man.
Watched this video for the first time several months ago.. finally goin out to the coast tomorrow to give it a go!
While surf perch fishing, i somehow caught a nice steelhead!! It was really bazaar
NW Fishing Secrets basically, i had the same rig except i had pink mice tails instead of sand worms
Me too haha i was younger and dumber and freaked out because I thought it was a rainbow that someone threw out lmfao
Big Daddy oh my😂😂 I totally understand your confusion, id be kinda mad as well😂😂
@@NWFishingSecrets I was surf perch fishing on the Oregon coast, in yachats. I caught a coho salmon on the Berkley sand worm. It was awesome!
I think you can find in market clarified butter, it doesn't burns brown black since milk lefts like water and solids are appcend!! Or you do it before going fishing, melting the butter in a pot over low heat, let simmer for 10' - 15',turn of the heat, let it sit few minutes and collect the cleared butter!! Happy new year!!
Looks fun, I like the rain. I did a similar fluke fry here in New Jersey. I breaded with flour, then dip in egg, then breadcrumbs, and I fried the fish with potatoes in oil on the grill. Broccoli on the side, Fish and Chips!
Damn, been watching since ~ 3/4 year i guess. Decided to go back and watch some old episodes...
I've got to say.... DAMN BOIII you've been getting good at the whole YT thing!
Cheers, love ya
We went the other day and surf fished for the first time. Did really good. Biggest was 14 inches. Not bad for a perch. Amazing video as always.
"...I mean it tastes extremely greasy. It's good!, It's good!..." Classic! So funny!
Brian seems like he'd be a great best friend
That's good you hid the tripod in the shrubs (@ 2:55). If it's gone, you would never know who took it among that crowded beach.
Really enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing and stay blessed.
Used to catch barred surf perch in southern Cal (look almost identical to these), texture and taste was a lot like a potato pancake! great video.. love the channel!
I’m learning so much! Thank you and well done! 🐟😋👍
YES!!! Love hearing that you're learning and having fun with the videos! Cause I know I am!! (fun & LEARNING) 🤣 🎣
nice catch and cook video, love to catch surfperch myself, I think they're fun to catch and are good eating fish :)
Thanks man! I'm still totally new to Surf-Perchin' but it was a blast 👊 🎣
love seeing him fish in one of my
home states. see things i’ve never seen yet :)
Ha dude you need like a bag of cooking gear and utensils! Glad you got out to the perch, i dig catching them
lol I have one but I re-packed it before this trip. (obviously not very well 😆) So happy to have gotten out there. It was a great experience.
Another amazing video man. i really enjoy watching your videos. i have been watching fishermans for life / ace videos regularly and i have to say welcome to my regular watch list NWfishing secrets. 🏄🏽♂️ those crispy fish loooks yummy i should try this in my next trip. all my gear is lock and loaded. waitting for the pendamic to be over. #FishonBaby 🌈🐟
Thanks man, that means a lot to hear 👊🏻 🎣 fisherman’s life & Ace are my go-to’s as well 😂 definitely can’t wait to get in another coastal trip as well! Fish on baby!!!
Beautiful and clear video Well done, I subscribed to your channel.
The perch fillets look yummy making me hungry
Would have LOVED to have seen the other fish you guys were catching too in this video. Still, I know that perch had to have been fantastic! Reminds me a bit of Catfish almost with the texture and firmness of it.
Wish we had Retails in our area. We just have barred surf perch here in our area and the occasional striped bass. They do get in the 16” class so that’s good. Redtail just get so wide bodied!
Man, I’d sure love to catch a Striper though! 🎣 Still never gotten a big red tail... one day!
I think you did a fine job cooking up this meal.... love the location brother... oh and at location 23:26 gotta love that break open... perfection! I deep fried a rainbow trout on one of my videos and it also turned out tasty! Nice work brotha! Keep grinding! If you ever wanna go to some high lakes out my way, hit me up... I'm totally down!
Great video buddy, I also live and fish in the PNW! Just found your channel, and got ya!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much! PNW life is really where it's at. Glad we share that 👍 🎣 🌲
You make the best catch and cooks
Was gonna hit my spot for perch tomorrow. Thanks for the content.
Let me know how it goes! And you're so welcome! You know I love making these videos for you guys... 🤙 🎣
Who else is rewatching this two years later. Also, I caught my Personal best surfperch not too long ago, 3.62 pounds out of Westport. It was amazing.
Don't worry about it.....we live and learn about cook and catch....that's how learn how to do it
Great job on these vids 🐠🐠👍
I enjoy watching this video. I am hoping one day I get to try to fish on the beach and cook it there too.
ive seen catch and cooks by ace vids , mav and others u dear sir have made me the hungriest
Being that I am a fan of all the above, I can only say thank you!! 😂
@@NWFishingSecrets i meant "thank you" not "no thank you " just to clarify.
Just got hungry watching all this hard work and cooking 😅
If your hush puppies were corn meal, you could of made either polenta cakes or grits. Boil the corn meal at a 4:1 ratio, till it thickens up. Tasty stuff!
Another awesome video Mike!
Thank you!! So glad you got a kick out of it. Just can't get over how much I love making these for you guys 🎣
Another awesome video. Keep up the work. Bummed that I can make it out this weekend to meet the man! Haha. But being a full time student, working, and being a full time dad. It’s hard to miss work. And looking for a new place to live makes it much more harder. But when we get settled down and you have another meet and greet, bet We’ll be there!
Not a problem at all! Family, work, and home first! We'll have plenty more meetups 🎣 Thank you for enjoying another video 🤙
So bad ass that a Washington fishing channel is over 100k subs good job man
Nice weather super fish hunting
I've been out on Westport beaches and pulled crab by hand, I have also gone along the south side of the jetty, maybe 5 miles down, and caught huge redtails
I can't wait to do some jetty fishing there man! It's closed right now, but it's full of all kinds of monsters! Cool that you're out there too! Such an awesome place 🎣
You make it look fun cooking by the water and now I wanna do that
I always always always smash that like button.
I watch all the ads to support you!!
Bro I couldn't ask for better fans than you. That you enjoy the vids is my #1 priority, ads is secondary 🤙🎣
Going to the coast next week definitely trying this!
Hope you do more fishing vids with buddies.
Fishing w/ Brian was cool! 😎
Awesome! Definitely will! He was in a lot of my earlier videos, and really helped me with this channel. He’s my favorite person to fish with 🎣 🤙🏻
Put a little finely chopped onion in your cornbread mix, then, fry your hush puppies in the fish grease, the taste you get is incredible by getting the fish flavor in your hush puppies, grew up in Tennessee and my Mom and Wife made the best ones!
Love all the merch a hoodie would beLove all awesome!!!
I like the cast and slow retrieve method to find the surf perch. You can up the hook size to specifically target the larger fish. I also always pick up any mole crabs I come across as I do this. All my biggest fish have been on the mole crabs.
Good idea on using those bigger hooks, especially if the bite is really on! And interesting on those Mole Crabs....... funny little critters 🦀
@@NWFishingSecrets Don't get caught using Mole Crabs in Washington, game wardens can write you a ticket!
You are my favorite youtuber you make me want to make videos
Thank you so much! Try out making your first video and upload it! Let me know and I'll watch it!! 🎣
Suggestion! When filleting skin from meat, after first small cut at tail, try holding filet knife steady (forward with slight down-word angle) while grabbing skin and pulling and shaking skin back away from knife. With practice will be easier and quicker than trying to cut meat away from skin as you are now doing. This is the way the pro workers do it. Good luck!
Run youre gulp on the eye of youre hook and continue it up onto youre dropper loop. Doing this leaves les of a tail hanging off youre hook and more hook ups.
Thank you! Cause we definitely got LOTS of bites. But only 1/5 would hook up! Will try this when I’m out there next
@@NWFishingSecrets if you ever make it back down to the forks area lapush has awsome surf perch action.
Travis Lester thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely give that a go in La Push 👍
What’s cracking brotha. I love surf perch fishing. It’s underrated.
Perch species in Asia are a freshwater species. In Africa too.
It normally thrives in rivers, lakes, ditches, ponds and swamps etc.
In Asia it's salted air dry ..then later supply as protein during low season. Fried or cook with broth flavour.with vegetables and coconut milk or curry ..
Or dried salted perch fried til crispy as a condiments with rice congee.
Or fresh cook with broths or fried until crispy. Then add tomatoes onions chilli paste, coriander and bell peppers.
The redsurf perch you caught have similar stripes. Amazing.
The batter you have is thick enough.
It's ok the batter without eggs. Just use oil better
To fry. Heat the pan and the oil.
Once the oil is hot, reduce the fire to medium fire so it won't burn.put the fish in batter in. Leave it frying for few mins with medium to low fire. Keep adjusting. Depends on the pan thickness.either ways still best low to medium fire.
Don't keep stir. It mash the fillet.that is why spatula is best to flip it over.
Remember medium fire, let batter form or solidify for two to three mins, then only flip the other side. Best wishes
I'm in southern California, and here you have to be careful of parasites when you catch Surf Perch and Jack Smelt; otherwise they are great tasting. Love em! We use Sand Crabs as bait.
Lol at the hush puppies part
You can try Bisquick. It works well and you only need water. Great video!
Gave those guts the Olympic shot put Yeet!😄
Loved this video! We are doing it in Dec 😁👍 Fish On Baby!!
Fish onnn!! 🤣 Hope you guys do really good! Are you doing both razor clams and perch?
That's y we go the coast clams and fish
Dude, I can't wait to show you the clam video.... I need to go to the Coast more
I love to FISH and I liked and subscribed
Ahahhaah that teaser for the next vid got me laughing so hard 😂
Yay you hit 7k subs
I did!! Thank you, it's been a lot of work, but so rewarding to do this for you guys
RIght on! Looks like you were in Pacific Beach? I was just there a couple days ago, Killed it one morning about 2 hours before incoming tide up until high tide. maybe 20 or so fish, only kept like 3 1 lb'ers. Super fun though! Arguably the best fishing, and you can also catch silvers too right there! Saw some jumping!
Hi, nice cooked, I will try to cook that too fish felley and nuggets.
I liked the part when you sat at home on your computer and said that it’s wrong and that you need eggs 😂
😂
Lol
Lol
so great!!hahaha
hahaha that was epic, love your videos man its curing my depression
