I have had to use an aftermarket carb. It has trouble idling for any given amount of time. It seems to backfire out the air intake. Is that an air leak? I’ve gone through the gamut of fuel mixture screw adjusting from all the way in to almost falling out. Does the setting on the idle screw factor in on this as well?

backfiring out the air intake could be low compression on the air intake valve/ intake valve leaking a bit. Check engine compression. Most likely though it is a bad set up carb. are you running factory exhaust? any mods? what engine is it? The idle screw doesnt have much play in relation to air to fuel mixture it mainly just opens the butterly throttle valve. Have you tried adjusting the choke, does it run better with choke on or choke off, etc

@@muddythumper8152 it’s the 200es 1984 no mods. Never thought of compression. I think it’s a PZ27 style of replacement. Does those throttle needles have an adjustment?

@@kansascityshuffle8526 I’m pretty sure there’s no real adjustment on the needles on those. I got a Argo project I’m going to be doing a engine conversion on in the future , she’s low on compression and backfires out the intake valve which is why I asked. Check compression also try running the machine with full choke / no choke and see if there is any difference

@@muddythumper8152 I’m going to have to check compression what’s good on those? Above 100? Also saw a short where one of the comments was suggesting drilling out the throttle hole for the carb that’s kinda why I was asking about an adjustment.

@@kansascityshuffle8526 by throttle hole do you mean the jet? no factory atc 200 should need that done. I drilled out my jets on my big lifted trike thats snorkeled cause its snorkeled plus i have a custom exhaust with hardly any backpressure. If i recall its around 110+ for PSI, the higher the better but i think factory spec was like 150 from factory
