It's widely accepted nowadays that memory loss comes with age. Alzheimer's currently robs at least 15 million people of their identity worldwide. This book makes the controversial claim that eating meat may contribute to the development of the disease. In Dying for a Hamburger, Dr. Murray Waldman and Marjorie Lamb draw upon documentary evidence, historical testimony, and inspired speculation to suggest that Alzheimer's: - is a new disease-elderly people did not experience symptoms of dementia in such alarming numbers in the past began appearing after modern meat production techniques were introduced- has soared in nations where these techniques are used- hardly exists in cultures where meat consumption is low- has been attributed to many deaths that are actually the human equivalent of mad cow disease. They propose that mad cow, its human equivalent, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), other encephalitic diseases, and Alzheimer's may have a common antecedent. We know that a form of CJD is transmitted to humans who eat contaminated beef. And we are becoming increasingly aware of the need to monitor the meat supply closely to avoid a repetition of the mad cow scare in Great Britain. Great interview. I'm almost 80, a wfpb vegan, and on no medication. I think the hardest part about being wfpb is the resistance from friends and family to embracing this lifestyle. I have a good friend who was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and I'm going to attempt to talk to her about her diet. I have a feeling she won't give up her SAD diet, but I have to try.
Yes, Shirley. We had a neighbor lady who came down with cancer. My wife and I pleaded with her husband to try WFPB, but he baled at us. It is truly sad how they stick with the SAD diet.

Be strong. Don't expect any support from outside. You have got everything you need to achieve anything you want in life. Life is about learning the art of living and it's new at every turn of the road. You should swear to stay true with your mission and be determined to surprise those people with your results.
Love some of the things he says, it’s true you have to fight through some of the social stigmas but it’s so worth it. I’m only 9 months WFPB but I’ve lost all of my excess 60 pounds and have boundless energy. This morning I did weights for 30 minutes then jump roped for 45 minutes and could have kept going. I’ve never felt this good and I love the food!!!
WFPB saved my life! I once was 320lbs and now I'm 145lbs. I have been WFPB for almost three years and will never go back. Save the Animals and save yourself.
One of the most genuine talks on veganism I have heard. Really appreciate your candid feelings and experience with your father and others. Diet, exercise and fasting are the secrets no doubt to living healthy!
Thank you for producing a real life example of how life changing being vegan can be. I'm 55 and been Vegan for 14 years, the best ever decision in my life has helped me be illness free and healthier than when I was in my 30s. Wise words in this video, help your self and help the environment go Vegan. Thank you. ❤️
I think that eating a well balanced plant based diet can have some of the most profound effects on your own personal wellbeing and even contribute to environmental changes. Educational platforms can help, find something that engages you and experiment with it. What works for me may not work for you. All I can say is eat as clean as you can,eat fresh, raw, organic if possible, cut down as much processing foods as you can. Reduce things from your current diet slowly if needed. Removing dairy from my diet helped me clear a long suffering signus and breathing condition. Hope what ever you do helps in a positive way for you and the world outside your door.
Thanks for explaining the truth. Being a CAD patient with 90 percent blockage in RCA without any angioplasty my angina has reduced atleast 50 percent after I become vegan with fruits and raw vegetables for last three years.
Went vegan for 6 months, never got sick over winter (for a change), lost 4 stone , was the healthiest I've ever been, came off it and now have all sorts of medical issues, going back on from today
Remember vegan is not a diet it is a philosophy. But the healthiest way of eating is a whole food plant-based diet consisting of legumes grains greens fruits veggies mushrooms nuts seeds herbs and spices in a variety of each and that's vegan as fuk! When you truly embrace the philosophy of veganism you will always be vegan and you will find a way to make the diet and lifestyle work. It would help probably to befriend someone who is vegan that you look up too if you can. Best wishes in your endeavor and don't be afraid to fail it's okay we all do. That's the path to success. And that is having the capacity for Applied failure. So keep learning and keep trying and if you need additional help then maybe consult with someone who practices lifestyle medicine :-) or reach out to the community! Thank you so much for sharing and your honesty
It's great to meet Tim and hear his logical outlook, to see how well this lifestyle works, and to know he is a healthy, helpful ambassador for living a good life. I love that he cares about all of it - his own health and the health of other people as well as caring for the planet. And I especially appreciate that he cares for the animals who are so horribly exploited along the way in the current S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) boondoggle that is causing so much destruction and suffering on so many levels. Excellent interview! Really enjoyed it. Thanks to both of you.
There still is a lot of resistance. There is also a lot of new research and studies done that prove plant based for longevity. I don't enjoy killing anything. I even put flies out instead of killing them. I'm 81.
Got diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and was a huge carnivore up till that time. After I got treated I switched to mostly WFPB. No meat since Sept 2021, did have fish from time to time but hoping to go fully WFPB. Interestingly, both of my parents had heart attacks as well as one of my siblings and i had high cholesterol. I was worried about blockage later but had a test this year and doctor showed no blockage at all. This has been challenging but my health and life depend on it. One of the best decisions I ever made.
if you don't mind me asking, what kind of cancer was it? do you have family history of cancer? and could you go into a little more detail on how going WFPB affected your health, and whether your blood work or other analyses reflected the change? also, have you changed the amount exercise you get since you started WFPB? thank you for your time.

Hi Anne. Yes, I made the transition in 1988 during my first marriage. Holidays were challenging. I just kept reading from different sources to reinforce my opinion. I kept reminding myself with this saying, “Forgive them Lord for they know not what they do”

Exactly what I say too. I think eating meat is more of an addiction. I hadn't heard anyone else say this either. I recently was talking to a friend and he admitted that he has an addiction to seafood. I was surprised he thought of it that way. He's been having health issues too. I've been mostly vegetarian my whole adult life eating meat sparingly but recently diagnosed with high blood pressure. I am taking a blood pressure medicine and adding more fresh juicing and almost fully vegan now. Hopefully I can reverse the damage I've done to my body. I'm also 2 or 3 times more active than before too. I'm 67
Being vegan is compassionate and kind to animals, the planet, and yourself. I see no reason not to be. :) Thanks for making this interview. I'll share it with others.
Animals are to kill bleed and eat. But that you kill helpless veggies, while polluting the planet with fertilizers, farm machines, ships and fuel to drag that rabbit food all over the planet is sick. My dad made a healthy 93 eating sugar and never once working out...but only a vegan would suggest something that stupid.
@@TheDogPa How do the 80 billion farm animals, inhumanely, bread each year for slaughter get their nutrients? How do they grow so fat and fast? And where does their waste excretion go? I haven’t eaten meat for more than 6 years now. I don’t understand how people can be so blind as to what’s happening to all these animals everyday. Unnecessarily Inhumane and cruel!! We have to change. Thank you for sharing!!!
Big factor is there's no money in low fat, no sodium WFPB veganism and that's why its advocates are hated. Conversely, there is money to be had in holding up the status quo and thus people arguably become corrupted.
Typically people don't really give a crap about what they eat as long as it's affordable and it tastes good. The problem is the vegan food industry seems to like to gouge the customer. Why are vegan hot dogs more expensive than meat hot dogs? It's cheaper to buy basic ingredients and cook it yourself but there is no affordable vegan convenience foods.
I became vegetarian in my country Argentina when I was 17., it wasn't easy, believe me., all they eat there is meat and on top of that my aunt used to work in a hospital in the department where they do plan the meals and all this ignorant dietitians told her that I was going to died because of the protein myth. I became plant based in 2003 after watching a video from dairy industry, I cried and couldn't believe how humans can be so cruel just to make money. I studied nutrition in 2011 and attended seminars from Caldwell Esselstyn, Collin Campbell, Neil Barnard and more and after I got my diploma I started doing consultations. Now I teach Yoga because it was so frustrating to deal with people that just believe what they hear on tv, and do what others doing without thinking about it. What I do now is that usually I talk about nutrition at the end of the class. I am turning 67 soon and if I press the accelerator in the class no one can follow. One think that wasn't mention in the video is the supplementation with b12 and also if you don't expose yourself to the sun to take d3. Thank you for the video, but we have to remember that people want to hear good news only about their bad habits. Never took a single medicine besides maybe ibuprofen or a couple of times antibiotics.
Congratulations! I'm from Argentina too and I know what you mean. There is an "asado" fetiche in our country, among higher and lower classes alike. It's really grosse and primitive. When I went vegetarian I was 20 and everybody attacked me. 6 years ago I went vegan and nobody attacks me anymore. They listen to me, they agree with, but they keep eating meat. It is sad. Just like you I don't take medication and I'm very strong

What a great story. And how wonderful he was able to reconnect with his high school sweetheart. He looks so happy having someone that is on the same page as him.
There's a lot of resistance in life for many different things. Just do your thing, eat what you want, and let other people do what they want. Once I was told by a group of vegans that I was ugly and was going to hell for eating animals. I thought if being a vegan meant I would be like them, no thanks. I am glad to see that people are doing well with veganism and are in good health.
The problem with "to each their own" is when people eat animals it is very invasive and it normalizes violence. And people aren't really choosing to eat animals on a very conscious level. They are just doing what they are told from a young age.
I did this all alone about 15 years ago. Five years ago, my husband got on board. It's so nice to have some support, but it isn't 100% necessary. People can change anything they want to change with enough willpower. After I saw my grandma's heart on the OR monitor after her heart procedure, I searched for a better way. I'm the only one in my family that doesn't have one or more degenerative diseases: cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, etc.

Going Vegan is not just because you care about animals, honestly that's not my reason for becoming one. I believe it was meant for me to hear your story this morning. I met with my doctor earlier this week, and shared with her the thumping that I hear in my ear. She was concerned of my having pulsatile tinnitus. I'm 64 years old, and do try to eat right, yet I know I could do better. In my early prayer this morning, I asked God to tell me (generally speaking) what he would have me to know, and later on decided to UA-cam the difference between veins and arteries. Your story was playing silently in closed caption until I pressed it to hear what you were saying. I do eat fruits and vegetables, but probably not enough along with things that I know are not healthy for me. Clearly, this is the path that I should take in regards to my health. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm sure it will help many, along with myself, that will hear
I get that too when I don't take my multivitamins. Double your intake and see how you feel. I think it's lack of vitamin K and others found in citrus fruits mostly... I've been following Medical Medium and doing the lemon 🍋 water first thing in the morning and celery juice I make fresh.
Hi. It is good to know that you are taking your health seriously. Our bodies are precious miracles and for some reason we are prone to abusing them. The transition to complete healthy eating, for most, does not happen overnight. It is a lifelong process. Try your best to transition to whole green salads with lots of vegetables and a few fruits each day. Be kind to yourself. Lifelong habits die hard. Be mindful of each bite and chew well. Ask yourself, am I eating this certain food for the health of my body or just to please my taste buds. I wish success for you.
I'm a 69 yr old whom in my teens became vegetarian, then vegan. I have put up with a lot of abusive teasing from family, friends, colkeagues, neighbors. BUT when it comes to physicals, I'm always the one who gets! shining results! But I'm the the healthiest
This guy is an excellent example of how this lifestyle can be, and he's absolutely right it IS a lifestyle not merely a 'diet' fad. I have been eating this way for around 7 years or so now, since I got very sick out of nowhere (I thought) when I turned 30. I have seen SUCH positive changes from eating this way and am passionate about spreading the word. @@MarioTschenet he probably does take B12 because he's vegan and doesn't get it from an animal that was supplemented with it or cross-contaminated with it via feces during the slaughtering process. So I hope he takes a simple supplement of B12.

I am also 70 and vegan and plant based. Thanks so much Tim for trying to spread the word. I know there is a lot of resistance. I run 20 miles a week.
What do you eat in a day
@@our.secret1130 I eat sometimes kale, sometimes spinach, probably 8-10 servings of fruit (apples, bananas, a lot of berries in oatmeal etc), most of the time a good serving of mushrooms, brocoli and bell peppers with humus, oatmeal often with hemp, amla , fenugreek powder and hemp seeds, small amount of almond butter with chia, seaweed (those sheets are so good), barbara's shredded wheat with soymilk and walnuts (really good), sometimes rice or farro or quinoa and beans. Mostly unprocessed. I supplement with B-12, vitamin D and vegan k2

One in ten people older than sixty-five, and nearly half of those older than eighty-five, have Alzheimer's disease.
They present startling evidence that Alzheimer's may be part of a family of diseases linked to malformed proteins known as prions. They hypothesize that the conditions that allow these brain disorders to be triggered are similar. But suppose that Alzheimer's also involves prions--the evidence that points in this direction is growing. And suppose that Alzheimer's is also associated with tainted meat. This conclusion seems far-fetched--at first. In this compelling book, the authors come to a frightening conclusion about our seemingly insatiable hunger for hamburgers. Destined to provoke heated argument, this book is definitely food for thought.

I have a feeling she won't give up her SAD diet, but I have to try.
where do you live? I'd like to interview you if I could! if you would like...
@@VeganLinked I wouldn't make a very good interview, but thanks for the offer.
But isn't the SAD diet much more than just a meat diet? Isn't all the highly processed food in the SAD diet the real danger?
Yes, Shirley. We had a neighbor lady who came down with cancer. My wife and I pleaded with her husband to try WFPB, but he baled at us. It is truly sad how they stick with the SAD diet.

I became plant based in 2003 after watching a video from dairy industry, I cried and couldn't believe how humans can be so cruel just to make money. Now I teach Yoga because it was so frustrating to deal with people that just believe what they hear on tv, and do what others doing without thinking about it. What I do now is that usually I talk about nutrition at the end of the class.

Im 36 I’m grateful to hear I have a chance to change my health. I’ve lived a life eating burger fries, cokes, ect and I’ve always been overweight. Been vegan over a year it’s a great life.
Get rid of sugar, carbs. Not of meat.
You can do it!!
kills, meat kills, it kills the animal and the people eating animals slowly but surely.
get rid of sugar, salt, oil, flour, and other processed foods like animal, animal are processed too. They got nutrients from plants and their DNA processed those nutrients for their specific body, not yours. You don't have to perpetuate unnecessary violence.
@@diegomargozzini8668:
You're truly hilariously stupid. Human physiology is literally optimized for carbohydrates, especially simple sugars. Depriving yourself of that is like depriving a car of fuel. In contrast dead animal remains are absolutely toxic garbage to human physiology.
Whole food vegan bodybuilder at 26. I'll never get tired of the look on people's faces
4 years in March, and looking forward to the lifelong benefits
Nice!
Maybe I can interview you sometime! I've got some bodybuilders and what not on my channel have you seen them? It would be cool to have some more in the mix if you're ever game for it.

I’m 74 and been vegan since 1994. I’m so thankful I found this way of living. I have the heart and artery health of a young person. And of course I’m glad everyday that I am not harming animals or the environment as much as a meat eater.
Would love to get your story, if you're interested let me know
Thank you, Joan, very much.
I am inspired by Tim Brown's veganism and his sense of responsibility for his family.
I'm fully convinced and committed and can't wait to see where this journey takes me thank you sir 🙏🏾
Go ahead. A lot of support available
I wish you great success.
Thank you, BTNX. Your journey will be well worth it.
What a great story. And how wonderful he was able to reconnect with his high school sweetheart. He looks so happy having someone that is on the same page as him.
5 years this Thanksgiving on the Esselstyn diet post heart attack. Angina reversed. Feeling like I did decades ago.
My husband too @Carl Baum. Congratulations!!
Here, too. Just 6 months but we are committed for life.
Warms my heart to hear! Congrats and may you have health in abundance for many many years to come!
Thank you sir, I need your example
Are you on no fat or low fat to help?
There's a lot of resistance in life for many different things. Just do your thing, eat what you want, and let other people do what they want. Once I was told by a group of vegans that I was ugly and was going to hell for eating animals. I thought if being a vegan meant I would be like them, no thanks. I am glad to see that people are doing well with veganism and are in good health.
I have never met vegans who would do that.
Thank you for sharing. Best wishes with your family ❤
Thank you for sharing, Suzy
Switchong into vegetarianism (no meat and no fish) completely transformed my health and energy levels. I am regular blood donator and they are always amazed after blood test that I have so good blood. Of course I am not supplementing B12 and I have no deficiencies at all because I am doing regular blood tests 😁😎💖
What do you eat?? I don't know how to survive without animal products! I have 4 kids and my wife and I are interested in changing our diets to be more healthy but we don't know how! What is your diet????

So wise love this man!
Thoroughly agree addictive nature of eating animal products.
Working through the urges slowly but more easily with each passing day but wow when it hits, it hits hard.
Patience with myself and others who don't get it is part of the compassionate nature of this lifestyle.
Hello!! Thank you for such a wonderful video!! We too live in Cleveland. In August of 2016, my husband was diagnosed with Stage 3B Colon Cancer. He refused chemo. We radically changed our diet and lifestyle, healing his body holistically. Wfpb is the diet of disease reversal. He remains cancer free and chemo free

Amazing, ur a source of inspiration for me... Thank q for sharing. My love & regards.. ❤️🤗👍🙏
Great job!!! I have also been plant based for about 10 years. I am 65 feel great!
Thank you, Cathy. We must keep planting seeds. Even if just a little one.
I think the greatest thing here (in my view) is the number of animals that have been saved due to Tim eating a vegan diet. Kudos to you Tim, kudos xxx
Very articulate testimony; thank you, Tim, and best wishes to you and yours. I hope you enlighten many of your fellow Americans and share your healthful lifestyle.
Thanks for sharing this 👌
Going Vegan is not just because you care about animals, honestly that's not my reason for becoming one. My reason was because I've only seen benefits of going plant based, I'm able to be fit and have a muscular body solely on veggies & fruits with a couple grains. Anyone that says "You need meat" has been lied too.
I am a vegan for life. I applaud you for making this video, hope it reaches many people who fight for their life everyday. We are not made to eat meat otherwise we would have salivated by looking at an animal, we would have grabbed them and gouched out meat, but we can catch any animal including a chicken with our hands, running behind it. Check out Patrick Babumian.
Thank you Atul
We are made to eat meat not man made plants you're mentally ill
@@Serenity-tn4yn Each to their own. You missed the point if this man making a video about how vegan diet changed his life. I was a born vegetarian, but my forefathers were vegetarians 10000 years ago.
I so appreciate this man. Because he was ahead of his time, he faced much more resistance. He is right on the money in every way.
Great story! You don't look 70 years old. I'm vegan 6 years and never eating flesh again. My days are filled with RAW fruit and vegetables! 😀🍉🥝🍎🍍🍌🍊🍑🥒🍐🍆🌽🍇🍈🥜🍄🌶🍒🍓🥔
They like to say a plant based diet reduces your testosterone, but you're still Manley.
I’m 53 and I hope that I am as healthy as he when I’m his age. Ignore those who are addicted to the S.A.D. It is very sad that they want to discredit what has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt with very stringent clinical trials. You can’t deny the science…
Thank you, Tim
And how are ur energy levels? How long did it take to feel difference?
I love his response to how we get our protein and I am going to use that next time I get that question.
I use it all the time! I really shuts most people up right away!😂
Thank you so much! Been over 4 years for me now. Best thing I ever did to improve my health. No dairy, eggs, or fatty meats. I have added occasional fish, but not often.
Hopefully you'll find everything you need in nuts, seeds, chlorella, dulse and kelp granules instead of fish :)
@@VeganLinked for me it was being in Florida in the Winter and restaurants not having any options at all. I added some Salmon ...but I did go 4 years without any meat. I still prefer whole food plant based.
awesome, you're doing excellent!!!!!!!!
Us too, we are plant base diet and we look 40 years younger than family and friends
If you really wanna live right don’t go vegan go full carnivore

But I'm the the healthiest
I would love to interview, let me know of you would like that :)
Thank you, Maria. Keep on keeping on
Maria, I recommend interviewing with Jeff. It is a very pleasant experience.
There is lots of resistance and so much misinformation about the dangers of meat and dairy as well just falsehoods flying about on both sides. I'm grateful for a very level headed discussion about what this lifestyle can do for the human body. This is why we say "eat to live" :) Un-indoctrinate yourselves friends
Absolutely, thank you for the positive comment.
I also try it out..
I’ve been vegan 40 years. I just recently went oil free. I wish I knew about going oil free earlier. I’m also gluten free.
